Feliciano and Lovino were walking home from their bus stop when Lovino noticed his brother was acting strange again. Instead of skipping around and blabbering like an idiot like he usually does he was quiet and looked a little depressed. Feliciano had been like this ever since he and Alfred put their relationship on hold and it kind of pissed the elder brother off. He'll admit that it was kind of peaceful when his brother was quiet but he also liked his brother when he was his normal self.
"Tell me fratellino, is your thing with that hamburger bastard still eating you up?" Feliciano looked at his brother and then back to his books.
"I-I don't know how to go on. I keep expecting Alfred to be behind my locker when I close it. I still expect him to walk me to class sometimes. Everyday I wait for him to call me or text me. I miss his kisses... I miss him Lovi..." Lovino inwardly groaned. He knew how much his brother loved that idiot and when Feliciano came home from the hospital that day nothing, not even pasta and a hug, could keep the tears from flowing out of his eyes. The older Italian grabbed his brother in a side hug by the shoulders and kissed his forehead.
"You'll get through it. You're Italian, you're strong, you're a master of love and hurt. You'll get through it and keep a good relationship with the bastard. Besides, weren't you the one who said you were ready for this?"
"I did but had I known that I'd feel like crap I would have eaten my words before I said them."
"Take it from your fratellone, love can be a sad and messy affair." Feliciano laughed at Lovino trying to play love doctor again.
"What should I do then? I want to start to my relationship with Alfred again but I don't want to seem needy or anything. I said I'd start our relationship again when we were older but two, maybe three, weeks doesn't count as older!"
"Look at things this way, you're going to be 15 in March right?"
"*nods* Si and so are you."
"And Alfred's going to be 15 in July right?"
"What are you getting at?" Lovino paused and looked at his brother with a face saying 'Connect the dots.' Feliciano was puzzled until he realized what his older brother was getting at.
"So what should I do? Wait until his birthday?"
"Yes! It would make a very nice birthday present for him and a surprise because he gets you back. Even if he did hurt you and make him cry..."
"Lovi~ You worry about me too much!"
"You're my fratellino, how can I not worry about you?"
"By only an hour!" Lovino laughed again then let his brother go.
"Could you do me a favor and tell Nonno that I won't be helping out at the pizzeria for Valentine's Day tonight?" Feliciano looked at his brother. Lately, Lovino had been going out more and more than he usually would. He'd tried to ask his older brother but he said that it was a secret. It must be a good secret because Lovino had started to walk around the house with a smile which partially scared Feliciano since Lovino hardly ever smiled. One part of Feliciano wanted to know but the other part didn't want to know.
Francois found himself staring at a blank TV screen again. Days passed by since he scared the shit outta that Eagle Scout and he kind of almost wanted to apologize to that kid but two problems were in his way. First of all the boy's father. He suspected that Francis hadn't known about the kid even coming to his apartment and he didn't want to get the kid in trouble. And two, he didn't quite know how to be sincere about an apology to someone he barely knew. Heck, he wasn't too sincere to begin with. Just another thing wrong with me... He thought as he stared at the discarded divorce papers on the coffee table.
Oliver had been bugging him to sign those but something in Francois didn't want to. There were times that he hated being married to Oliver, sure, but he loved the man to death. Francois was aware of what was wrong with him and tried to get help but he was too damn busy bringing money into the home that there was no time getting help. He got out his matches and a trashcan and placed the package of papers in the trash. Without a second thought to what he was about to do he lit a match and threw it in the can.
The papers started to burn brightly and it made Francois want to burn it more with a little alcohol but that wouldn't be a very good idea to do since he nearly burned the apartment one time. When the flames died a little and started leaving ashes of the papers. Once the flames finally died and there were nothing but ashes, Francois looked at the remains. When Oliver gets here he can see the remains. Hmph, Oliver should know that I would never had signed these. A knock at the door tore the blond away from the garbage bin of ashes. He got to the door and opened it to see Al.
"A-Al...? What are you doing here?"
"My baseball bat is still here and Dad let me come and get it." Al walked right in and went into his bedroom and started to look for his bat.
"How's your father and brother? Are they alright?"
"Yea. Matt's gonna join a hockey team later on and Dad is still the same." Al found his bat and started to walk out. Francois grabbed him by the arm and trapped him in a hug. The dark-haired teen was stunned to see this from his father but hugged back never the less.
"I'm so sorry Al." Said male broke away then ran out of the apartment. Francois felt a sense of rejection and he can't say that he never saw it coming. From the cold shoulder Oliver had been recently giving him to the looks of pure fear on Matt's and Al's faces he had the feeling but he never figured it would go over like this. He got another cigarette and lit up just in time for Oliver to walk in. Oliver was fuming mad because when Al came back to the car he was spooked.
"Francois, what the hell did you say to Al?"
"Nothing. I just said that I was sorry then he got scared. Not my fault if he never saw my sincere side before."
"You said you're sorry? YOU? That's laughable." Oliver laughed but Francois didn't laugh with him. When he didn't see the blond laughing with him Oliver paled. Francois was never sincere, even when they started dating he was never sincere.
"You were serious?"
"Oui. Hey, remember those divorce papers you gave me?"
"Did you sign them?"
"Yea, let me get them." Francois got the garbage can with the divorce paper ashes and shoved them into his husband's arms. The British man stared at the contents of the can. He couldn't believe it. With an enraged expression he threw the trash can to the side and punched Francois. All he wanted to do was get a simple divorce with little to no things going wrong or any speed bumps in the road.
"Why is it so fucking hard for you to understand that I want out?!"
"You and I both know you don't mean that."
"Yes I do! I want out of this marriage! I want our sons away from you! I just want to be rid of you!"
"Please don't say anything you regret..."
"Regret?! What is there to regret? The only thing I regret was EVER marrying YOU! Why are you even saying these things?"
"I love you and I don't want you to leave me. I don't want to be alone. I'm so sorry."
"This is the perfect time you choose to say that?! After all we've been through and after I wasted so much of my time trying to love you like you used to for me you want to say that?! I loved you but you took me for granted and betryed me and hurt me! Hell you even hit our sons and all you can say is 'I'm so sorry'? Sorry doesn't make up for those nights I fell asleep crying after I got unwanted sex from you! Sorry doesn't make up for the nights those boys stayed up crying after we fought! Sorry doesn't make up for the bruises and cuts they have! Sorry doesn't make up for all the times you got drunk and hit us! Sorry doesn't make up for all the pairs of panties I found in your pants while I was doing laundry! Sorry fucking doesn't make everything alright Francois! I may have said it to the boys but they actually try to do shit about it all. But you... You revert every fucking time and I'm fucking sick."
"Sick of what?"
"The lies and you. Happy Valentine's Day you lonely asshole." Oliver spat on Francois and then left the apartment. I can't say I didn't deserve all of that yelling... He thought as he heard another knock at the door. He silently growled because he wanted to be left alone to wallow in pity. He opened the door to see Alfred standing there.
"What the hell are you standing there for?"
"S-Sorry sir! It's just that I heard the yelling from upstairs and I wanted to know if you were okay." The kid gets points for being honest. Francois nudged his head towards the inside of his home and let Alfred inside. If he was going to tell someone about his problems he might as well tell a fourteen-year old rather than a therapist that will cost him money.
"What's going on?"
"My son and husband came by."
"Why?"
"Al left his baseball bat and Oliver came in wondering if I'd signed divorce papers he gave me days ago but I'd burned them up to ashes beforehand and when he saw them he threw the trash can and punched me. He said he wanted out and that he regretted being with me. Hell, without me he wouldn't have those children. Things escalated and he said he was sick of my lies and me then spat on me and walked out."
"Was that guy your husband?"
"Oui. I took him for granted and I said and did things to hurt him. I'm not a good man." Alfred felt sorry for the man but then noticed something. They were very much alike in almost every possible way. They each have a broken family. They each had a sad past. They both hurt the one person in their lives that mattered most to them. Basically, they were very similar. Francois sniffed and wiped his eyes of any oncoming tears so that Alfred wouldn't see him crying.
"Why the hell are you here anyways? Isn't like anyone would come to visit the grumpy French guy on the third floor for no good reason."
"No one was home and I didn't want to be alone." Francois snorted and ruffled Alfred's hair.
"You're a good kid." The teen smiled and took his hand off his head. Papa was really wrong about this guy.
Arthur was in the therapist's office again. He wanted to stop coming here but since he and Yao started dating, Yao has pretty much been like some sort of housewife trying to keep him on track. His mind drifted to Yao. It's only been a week since they got together and Arthur already felt like he was in heaven. Yao may be a mother hen but he had good intentions. Arthur was called into his therapists office and when he went in he noticed that the office was rearranged a bit. Tino was sitting in the chair almost as if he'd been waiting for Arthur. Which he was but that was beside the point.
"Good afternoon Arthur!"
"Afternoon Tino." The British man said as he layed down on the mini-bed in the office. Tino flipped to his last set of notes he had for Arthur and saw that the last page was on Arthur's brothers and his experimentation with drugs prior to the alcohol.
"How was your relationship with your brothers? Was it good?"
"It was pure Hell. We fought on a daily basis and it was never a pretty sight because our fights always turned ugly. Mummy often told us to stop fighting but we never listened and look at us now. We're not talking to each other now. Back then when my father made me a whore he used the fact that we weren't so tight to his advantage. They weren't worried about me and I'm not too worried about them. Why'd you bring up my brothers?"
"I wanted to see how your relationship with them was when you were younger because sometimes inner anger can be connected to siblings. Trust me, I've seen it once before with my friend. He had inner anger that was connected to his brother and when he got in touch with it, he and his brother got closer than they were when they were children. But enough about that, we're here about you. Now last time you were here you said you did experimenting with drugs and got hooked on ecstasy?"
"Yea. Ecstasy was one hell of an addicting drug. Hell, I even got addicted to cocaine for a brief period of time."
"Now when you were doing these drugs, did they help you whenever you were with a client?"
"It made the process less painful than it already was. I used cocaine before I started using ecstasy."
"Did you ever OD on cocaine or ecstasy?"
"Cocaine no but ecstasy yea, I had an OD."
"Care to go into detail?"
"It was one of the nights we were busy. I had more clients than my mother so I had to take a lot of ecstasy so I wouldn't feel any pain. I was in the middle of it with one of my clients when I started to feel weird. My heart was pounding, my mouth started to foam, I felt like I couldn't breath anymore and finally, everything blacked out. Next thing I knew I was in the hospital and the doctor said I had overdosed on ecstasy. After that night I stopped taking drugs but then I started to do something that, to this day, has been my vice."
"Let me get this straight, you started to drink after you stopped taking drugs?"
"And Bingo has a name-o! Yes. After I was released from the hospital the guy who was doing me when I had the OD offered to take me out for drinks. I said yes like a fool and he took me to a nice pub where I had my first beer. I remember liking it so much that I wanted more and eventually I got drunk. I'm amazed I didn't have to get my stomach pumped but, in any case, I woke up with a bad hangover."
"How did your parents react to this?"
"Mummy said I was to never go with that client ever again while my father said he wasn't surprised at all. As long as I was his good little male-whore and came home in time for the clients to start flooding in then he didn't give two shits where I was." Tino scribbled down more notes.
"Let's go to the next chapter. When did you finally get out of the prostitution?"
"I got out when I was eighteen I finally got out. My father said that my mother got too old and I have to take on all her clients. I didn't want to do that anymore. It hurt too much and it was a waste of a great life I had in front of me. When Daddy was out one day I took all the money he'd collected over the years and ran away with it. I bought myself a nice apartment, got into community college, and put my money away for myself."
"Were you ever scared that your father might find you?"
"Hell no. That guy didn't know the first place to look for me because he never let me out too much."
"Even after you got out did you still drink?"
"Yep. I continued to drink but not to the point where I would get shit-faced or I-won't-remember-what-I-did-last-night-when-I-wake-up-from-this-hangover drunk. I would go to the pub and have a point after class and that was all. In fact, right around the time I was finishing community college is when I met my husband."
"What was it like?"
"When I first saw Francis I wasn't really attracted to him. I mean, he was good looking but he wasn't worth my salt. But then we got to talking and he charmed me. It didn't matter that he was French, all I knew was that with every word we said to each other, I fell in love with him. He asked me to marry him and obviously I said yes. Back then I knew I wanted to start a new life with him and get away from the place that was the bane of my existence."
"Did your husband ever know about your past?"
"No. I never told him and as far as he's concerned, my mother's in the looney bin and my father's dead. I would have told him my past but I didn't want him to feel sorry for me nor did want him to accuse me of cheating every time he thought I was sneaking around so it was easier to lie to him rather than tell the truth. Terrible thing to do I know but back then, it was easier and seemed like a good idea."
"Um, this may be a question you don't want to answer but before you had sex with him the first time did you... you know check some stuff out?"
"Of course I did. If I was going to have sex with Francis then I had to check myself for an STD. Luckily I didn't get any, I thought I'd at least get Syphyllis or Gonnorrhea. I was relieved when I found out I didn't contract an STD though it also surprised me since I thought I caught one." Tino scribbled down some more notes before he looked at the time.
"Our time is up. I think we made sme more progress."
"See you next week!" Arthur bolted out the door and into his car. For some reason Arthur didn't feel like he wanted to punch the therapist in the face. He kind of felt like he was at peace for a moment. None of that mattered, he just wanted to get home. When he got home he straightened himself out and walked in to see Yao laying on the couch wearing a blue Mandarin-style dress that went above his knees and his hair was let down, not to be held back by a ponytail. Arthur was surprised and he felt the room getting a little hot as he started to unbutton his shirt.
"Hello, aru." Even his voice is hot! Arthur's mind screamed as he lost all control and kissed his boyfriend. Yao kissed back and pushed Arthur's shirt off and sat up in a comfortable position so he could sit in Arthur's lap. They broke the kiss and panted for a few minutes before Arthur asked,
"What is the meaning of this?"
"I wanted to give you your Valentine's Day present early instead of waiting for tonight. It was supposed to be a surprise. Do you like it?"
"Like it? Hell no I fucking love it! Now, let's take this to the bedroom, shall we?" The British man stood up and Yao wrapped his legs around Arthur's waist as he was being carried away. Looks like tonight is gonna be a great night~
Today was Friday, A.K.A. Valentine's Day, A.K.A the day Lovino's life would change. Lovino was nervous because today would be the day he was going to ask Matthew to be his boyfriend. For the past few days they'd been hanging out more and since Lovino already told Alfred how he felt about his brother, it made sense to ask him out tonight. They were to meet in the park at five but Lovino got there by four thirty.
The Italian was a nervous wreck. He'd never attempted to do anything like this before and this was going to be his first time ever doing so. Sure it was said that Italians were suave masters in love but obviously no one counted the fact that they could be nervous too. The ground crunched when something came into contact with it. Lovino turned around to see Matthew walking to where he was.
"So, what did you want to talk to me about?" Lovino blushed and gripped the flowers in his hands.
"It's Valentine's Day and I was wondering if you'd want to be my Valentine as well as my boyfriend." Matthew stood there. He had to process what had been asked of him. He knew that Lovino was going to ask him to be his valentine today and he knew Lovino was going to ask to be his boyfriend one day but he never imagined how it would go over. He nodded his head and took the flowers.
"I will Lovi... I will." Lovino kissed him as he took his hand and led him out the park just to go to Vargas Villa Pizzeria and have a pizza. Whenh they got there the whole place was crowded thanks to it being Valentine's day and some people from school came to have a pizza dinner.
"Aw... The whole place is crowded! Now what are we going to do?"
"We can go around back." Matthew followed Lovino to the back to the pizzeria and what he saw made him think he was in a dream. The back alley had a string of lights going across it and in the middle was a table with a plaid cloth with candles and a bowl of pasta. He looked at his new boyfriend who just left him to a chair. They started to eat in the silence that surrounded them, not quite sure how to start a conversation.
"Do you guys want to hear a song?!" Feliciano came out of nowhere and shouted.
He was weraing a red and white striped shirt with black pants and black pants and black flats. Feliciano had an accordion in his hands and he started to play it as well as singing a song. It was that one song from Lady and the Tramp where the dogs were in the alley of that restaurant and those two guys were serenading the dogs with a song as they ate spaghetti. Lovino and Matthew were eating their pasta and watching Feliciano sing and dance around like a madman when they unknowingly started to eat the ends of a long string of pasta and as they ate it they came closer and closer until they kissed. Matthew blushed and looked away and Lovino took his hand and kissed it. Feliciano was done with the song when he noticed the adorable display of his brother and friend. With a mischevious smile he started to sing something.
"~It's a beautiful night and everything's so right! Lovi and Mattie got together and new love was made~ If Lovi's lucky he just might get-"
"STOP BEING A FUCKING PERVERT!" Lovino shouted before Feliciano could finish his little song. The younger brunette laughed and pat his brother's head.
"I was joking Lovi! I know you'll wait until he graduates!" Matthew blushed and quietly laughed at Feliciano. That little pervert! Lovino thought as his brother skipped to a dark corner to act as invisible as Matthew during class. They finished dinner and were about to walk away when Feliciano stopped Matthew and handed him something. He was about to question what it was until Feliciano spoke up.
"Its for Alfred. I tried to take it to him earlier but Nonno needed help in the restaurant so I couldn't. Can you make sure that this gets to him?" Matthew nodded and walked off with Lovino to the apartment building. As they were walking the cold air started to get to Matthew and Lovino let him have his coat. A blush crept its way to his face as he snuggled in the coat's warmth.
They got to the apartment and the two looked at each other. This was Matthew's stop. Lovino was about to kiss him when the door opened and Francis was there. Matthew nervously chuckled and gave Lovino his coat back while keeping the valentine Feliciano made for Alfred and the flowers Lovino gave him. With one last wave and little smile he walked into the apartment. Francis was still standing in the doorway and he glared at Lovino who gulped and wanted to back away but his feet were staying in place as the Frenchman was staring him up and down. Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, Francis said,
"As long as you aren't going to use mon petit Matthieu to get that one thing we won't have any problems. I have a revolver that was used in World War II by mygrandfather. Don't make me have to use it on your ass." With that, Francis closed the door on the poor boy. The Frenchman smiled to himself smiled to himself. A beautiful parenting job well done.
Matthew went to his and Alfred's room to see his brother staring at his computer screen with tissues all over the place and an empty chocolate box sitting on the floor. He frowned and walked over to his brother to see what he was looking at. On the screen was a picture of Alfred and Feliciano kissing with Alfred's hand covering their mouths and another picture beside that witht the pair smiling into the camera.
"If only we'd made it this far... I'd be your valentine and you'd be mine..."
"Turn around, maybe something will cheer you up!" Alfred jumped when he heard his brother's voice and quickly closed his computer. The younger twin laughed and handed something to Alfred. He looked at the thing suspiciously before Matthew said,
"It's from Feliciano. He would have given it to you himself but he got caught up at the pizzeria." Alfred took it and quickly opened the gift. It was a box of homemade chocolate and a picture of them together. He smiled and then he noticed a card. He opened it to see Feliciano wrote a letter to him.
Dear Alfred,
I hope that you love your Valentine's Day gift. Even though we're not really dating at the moment, I thought I might as well give you something so you don't go without a gift. I made the chocolate myself and you can keep the box it came in. I also included a picture of us from my phone. I almost cried on the photo when I printed it out but, I calmed down. I still love you, please never doubt that and I can't wait to see you at school!
Love,
Feliciano Vargas
Alfred hugged the card to his heart with a gentle smile. It was nice to know that Feliciano still loved him. This entire break their relationship was on slowly killed him, even more now that Alfred will probably have to wait an entire year before they get their relationship back on track but he didn't mind. For Feliciano, he'd wait for an eternity.
Francis came into the room to see Alfred hugging something and Matthew was on the computer. He smiled and then cleared his throat so that they both looked up at him.
"Papa has an announcement! Starting tomorrow and every Saturday after for the rest of the year, all three of us are going to therapy. I just got an email back from our therapist and he said he could take us on as clients!" Alfred and Matthew looked at each other and then back at Francis. They knew the man had good intentions but they didn't want to go through with it. Therapy was for crazy people! Nevertheless they had to go with it because they had no choice but to go, even if it would be pure hell on them.
Francois was in his apartment watching some romance movies that were playing for tonight and drinking some wine. His first Valentine's day all alone. No Oliver to get in bed with. No sons to shoo out when they catch them kissing. None of Oliver's cupcakes. Nothing. Just Francois, wine, and cable TV. This was the worst day for Francois. He got to see Oliver and Al but it only ended in shouting from his British love. The movie ended and the next one that played was one of Oliver's favorites. Francois hated watching it sometimes but it reminded him of his husband.
"I should probably call him and tell him that Les Miserables is on..." Francois thought out loud. He reached for his phone but stopped when he was about to grab it. Oliver probably didn't want to hear from him anymore than he already did today. Turning the TV off, he drank his lat bottle then curled up on the couch. Once again he stared at the TV screen and the only thing he saw was the reflection of a broken man.
