Oh yeah another update! I am already working on Chapter 7. Mind you I have had another brilliant idea fic to cast these two character in, so I am excited to start working on that one as well. However, I am only brainstorming and I actually want to finish this one before starting on another. Thank you to all the readers leaving the reviews. I enjoy them.
Chapter 6
Hermione put the magazine back into her weapon. Now it was fully loaded and functional. She glared ahead at the target before her. Quickly, four pops erupted from her glock, and she smirked.
"Nah, you had to have missed," said her partner, Jake Foley, with disbelief.
"Well why don't you just look." She motioned for the target to be brought to the front of the shooting rang. Sure enough planted firmly in the middle of the targets head were four bullet holes.
"Unbelievable. No wonder you made top of the class." Jake stammered.
"Yeah." She murmured.
"You alright there? You've seem a bit off since you got back from London."
"I'll be fine once we get a new case." She replied.
She had been back for two weeks. She felt alone again and missed her friends. Her mind rationalized that is was missing the Wizarding world again. However, a certain Amazon Princess, kept creeping into her thoughts at random times. She was positive she would not see the super hero again. The states had more room, and well she was not even sure the hero even stayed in New York. In the news, she was always seen, with Superman and Batman and other members of the Justice League. Rumor had it that the Amazon was in between relationships between the two. She jumped as she felt a slap on her back. She glared up at Jake.
"Whoa. Take it easy. I'm just gonna head on out and meet up with the wife. I'll catch you tomorrow Granger." He said.
"See ya." She said. As the door clicked shut behind him she slammed her fist into the wall she was standing next to. "Damn you to hell Princess. Get the hell out of my mind." She growled out.
"Diana look out!" Flash hollered at the Amazon.
Diana glanced in his direction and then behind her. A car had been chucked up into the air and was heading right towards her. In a bout of anger at the difficulty at taking Cheetah and Gorilla Grodd down she swung her sword up and split the car in half.
"Is that all you got?" She snapped.
The villainess let out a growl and charged at Amazon. Diana quickly tiring of this cat and mouse game sheathed her sword. Tauntingly, she wrapped her fingers onto her lasso, and fast as she could give a swing and the golden lasso was above her head, poised and ready to let loose the frustrations she was feeling, smiled as the lasso wrapped around Cheetah. She tugged on the rope and jerked her arms up. Cheetah reeling from the force had no choice but to fly upwards. She let out a surprised yelp when she felt herself jerked back towards the ground. She hit the concrete with a thud. Diana not feeling satisfied repeated the motion several more times, before she felt hands pulling her arms down and holding them.
"Diana I think she's had enough." She glared at the Flash. He took a step away from her. She turned her attention back to her nemesis. She let out a defeated sigh. Flash was right. The villainess was slumped over, battered, and clearly unconscious. "I will finish this up. Are you alright?" He asked her in an afterthought.
"I'm fine. I think I just— I don't really know what I need." She turned away from her colleague. "I'm just going to head back to the Watch Tower." She said. Before he could reply, she placed her index finger on the com link, "J'onn beam me back up." She demanded of the Martian.
Diana blinked several times as her eyes came into focus. She had never gotten used to being beamed to the tower or back to earth. "We need to talk." She let out a snort. Batman's retreating form was already halfway out of her sight. He turned a corner.
"Unbelievable."
She stepped off the platform and headed towards her room. If he wants to talk he can come to me. I shall not be as a dog unto him. She rolled her eyes in annoyance.
"What has you all up in a twist?" Diana stopped dead in her tracks.
"That is none of your business, Shayera." She replied. She was in no mood for the Thangarians attitude. If the winged woman continued to piss her off, Diana, was not sure she could control her anger from getting the best of her. She stepped around the woman and continued to her rooms.
Diana let out a sigh as she stepped out of the shower. The warm water and done wonders to relax her. She wished she could be back on Themyscira relaxing in the hot springs. She shook her head to distract her out of her thoughts. Her thoughts had become increasingly naughty. She had envisioned Hermione in the hot springs with her. "Gah!" She exclaimed in frustration. She had not even seen the brunette witch since the night of the wedding. She had tried to follow the car, but it had disappeared from her sight. She was positive the woman had bewitched the car so it would not be visible. It was now two weeks later and living the life of a super hero and ambassador to the Amazon Nation kept her busy. She had wanted to look up Hermione's address or even a phone number would have sufficed, but she doubted the woman would stay on the phone without hanging up.
She tossed her towel onto the chair in the farthest corner of her quarters and grabbed her hairbrush. "You know, you never have been one for modesty, have you?" A gritty voiced asked.
Diana feigned calmness and turned around slowly. "No." She replied with a smirk. The Dark Knight had turned completely around was staring at her wall. "The only people to have concerns with modesty are the overly religious and men. Men seem to think women's bodies are distractions. When in truth it is their own minds that deceive them of concentration."
Batman snorted at her response. "Typical Amazon answers."
"I presume you have come to speak to me about?" She paused waiting to hear exactly what he wanted to speak to her about.
"You were put on leave to calm down, and to refocus on being a quality member of the League and today you almost lost it. Had Flash not been there to stop you…"
"I would have killed Cheetah, and then she wouldn't have been a bother to me anymore." She replied coldly. "Maybe my vacation wasn't long enough." She let out a sigh and tossed her brush across the room. It left a dent in the wall before meeting its fate on the floor.
"You are aware then. Superman seems to believe that you need more time off. However, I believe you would be better suited for another mission."
"What type of mission?" She asked as finished getting dressed by placing the tiara on her head.
"You would a body guard to a war hero, so as Zatanna has briefed me."
"This is coming from her? Why me? Why not her or anybody else that uses magic?"
"You are a highly trained warrior. You would be on guard, and well the type of magic cast should be able to be blocked by you."
"I'm not impervious to magic." She shook her head. "Remember, Diana the Wonder-Pig?"
"These magic wielders are not the same as Circes. Zatanna has assured me that you would be the perfect one for the job."
"Why is that?"
"You are already acquainted with Hermione Granger. If you agree to the mission I expect you in the briefing room in ten. Don't be late." With that being said the Dark Knight glided out of her quarters without another sound.
Diana smiled. "Yes, I am acquainted with the witch. Body guard duty it is." She let out a little whoop and excitedly grabbed the book that she had taken from the brunette. The book had sat on her night stand for the last two weeks plaguing her mind.
