Hello my readers. I do realize that it has been awhile since I last posted, but if you read my stories then you know that this is the norm for me. I would like to announce that I have made some mistakes in this story. In one chapter I stated Lavender Brown may end up as the new Mrs. Weasley and then in a later chapter stated that she had not even survived the war. That is false in this story. I am just correcting my mistake. She will be paired with Ron in later chapters or in the sequel. I have yet to decide on this yet. Also, on the airplane Hermione is reading a magazine and the almost immediately I write it as a book. It is a book not a magazine like I first wrote. The book has not been forgotten and well it's coming. Anyways my clarification has gone on long enough. Enjoy chapter 9.
~Dream~
"Muddy! Aw, is the little mudblood crying. Let me wipe those tears!" A shrill cackle filled her ears. She tried to back away but something was holding her down.
"Let me go. I don't know how we got it. I promise. I d-don't know." She cried out trying to pull away from the hand that was holding onto her tightly. The woman holding her down was Bellatrix Lestrange. She let out a strangle sob, and tried to push the crazed witch away from her. "Get off!"
The older witch smiled wickedly. She held up the cursed knife that she had already used to carve the term mudblood in to her flesh. "I don't think you understand your position. Maybe you will remember if it's somewhere you can see." She let out another cackle and leaned down over Hermione's head. The tip of the knife touched down on her forehead and Hermione let out a blood curdling scream. She pushed down as hard as she could.
~End Dream~
"Hermione wake up." Diana said lightly shaking the woman's shoulder. Artemis and Alindra had come running when they heard screams.
"What's the matter with her?" Alindra asked.
Artemis snorted in annoyance. "She can't handle her dreams."
The blonde general nudged her friend. "Neither can you."
"Artemis please go and get some water." Diana said interrupting their spat.
"Yes, princess." She replied stomping off in anger.
"Why is she screaming?" Alindra asked slightly concerned that the young woman was screaming as if they were being tortured. "It's only a nightmare. It sounds like she's being tortured though."
"She has been through a lot." Diana said. "If she is here long enough she may share her tale."
"I wonder if this has anything to do with the woman that harmed her and Artemis must you make so much noise." Alindra asked as the red head kicked and growled her way back to them.
"We are trying to wake her, are we not?" The general retorted.
"Yes, of course." Alindra replied.
"The water please Artemis." Diana stated holding out her hand for the glass.
The general handed over the glass of water.
"What exactly are you going to do with the water?" Alindra asked the Diana.
"You'll see." She said with a smirk. Slowly she moved the glass above the brunettes head and dumped the liquid onto her.
Hermione sat up with a jolt. She sputtered as she felt something wet trickling down her head. "What? What's going on?" She asked completely unaware of the Amazons standing in front of her.
"You were having a nightmare." Diana explained calmly. She took several steps back. "Are you alright? Can I get you anything?"
The witched glared at the amazon. "Why am I wet?" She demanded.
Diana lifted an eyebrow. "You-" she stopped to think about what she was going to say. Her first thought had to provoke the witch by suggesting something profound, but she was trying to start fresh. "You were having a nightmare and wouldn't wake up. I poured water on you hoping it would wake you and well it did." She said with a small smile.
Hermione blinked confused before the words sunk in. "I'm sorry."
Diana frowned, "it wasn't your fault. I must apologize for knocking you out in the first place."
The witch narrowed her eyes at the Amazon unsure if her words were truthful or not. The red headed General was also in the room and the words may have just been for her benefit. She let out a sigh. Might as well give her the benefit of the doubt. "Apology accepted."
"Do you need aspirin or anything?" Diana asked her kneeling down so that she was eye level with her.
"No, I don't." Hermione was really conflicted. Her eyes darted to the red head again.
"Is there something on my face? If not stop staring at me; my wife is very jealous."
"I am not either." A quiet but stern voice said down the hall. A smaller woman with blonde and blue eyes stepped forward. "I am curious as to why our Princess is kneeling to you?" She directed to the witch. She stepped next to her wife. She held a heavy tome clutched to her chest.
"I've no idea." Hermione replied looking at Diana who went red in the face for a moment before standing back up to her towering height. She swung her feet and came into a sitting position. "Were you given my schedule?" Hermione asked straight to the point. Artemis snorted and then grunted as her wife elbowed her in the side.
"What was that for?" Artemis asked her wife.
The blonde gave her a smile, "no need to be rude. Diana is in charge of her safety. Come let us go prepare something to eat and leave them to discuss their business." The smaller woman led the intimidating woman out of the room.
"I wasn't being rude. She was. She didn't' even introduce herself." The red head exclaimed angrily.
"Don't mind Artemis. She'll warm up to you eventually. I have a feeling her wife and you will get along nicely." Diana spoke up, "and to answer your question I did receive your schedule. I have no problems with the timing, although, I would like to know more about these Death Eaters from you and not the papers in the file."
Hermione sighed. The reality of the situation finally struck her. Death Eaters were still after her, even five years after the war, and after she had fought so hard to prove she was just as much a witch as any other magical person. "Alright. What do you want to know?" She asked figuring it would be better to sate her questions by letting her ask instead of just telling her.
She looked up into concerned blue eyes. "They are a touchy subject for you still? If you need time to tell me about them I can wait, but I would prefer that we talk about this before tomorrow if that is acceptable to you?" Diana replied.
Hermione stood up and glared at the woman. "Just what are you playing at? Why are you being all nice and reasonable all of a sudden?" She demanded of the Amazon. "Is this your way to pity me and piss me off at the same time?" She yelled.
Diana raised an eyebrow. "No. I just realized that I was wrong about you and made a terrible first impression. I would like to start anew with you. I hope we can become friends." Diana said. Hopefully more than that. She thought to herself.
Hermione let out a small laugh. "I don't believe you, but if that's your game then fine I will play along." She shook her head in disbelief then put her hand out, "Hi, I'm Hermione Granger." She stated.
Diana gave her a small smile, and grasped the brunettes hand in a firm shake, "and I am Princess Diana of Themyscira, but please you may call me Diana."
"And I'm General Alindra." The woman said and couldn't help but laugh as both her Princess and the young witch both jump in shock.
"How long have you been there Alindra?" Diana asked.
"I never left Princess." She replied with a small laugh. "I couldn't help myself. If you two are not going to discuss the purpose of her being here then maybe you should show her to her rooms. I am going to go make sure that Artemis hasn't distracted Clio from cooking and maybe lend a hand." She gave a small curtsy to Diana and spoke to the young woman, "Hermione it is nice to meet the woman who has enraptured our Princess's attention." She turned on her heel and exited the room.
"Enraptured?" Hermione inquired.
"She exaggerates." Diana stated quickly.
"Are you sure, because half of the time it felt as if you were stalking me, and oh god. Never mind. Um you can just show me to my room." Hermione asked her face now red in embarrassment.
"Yes, follow me." Diana led the woman up the stairs.
Hermione memorized the route they took. It was easy enough. Up the stairs, turn left, turn right, and then left again. The hallways were spacious and there were many Amazon women going in and out of different rooms that seemed to work as offices or entertaining areas. The last hallway they entered was the quarters were all the Amazons were staying. Diana had told her. By the time they had made it outside her room her face was no longer red. "Um Diana?" She said as the Princess opened the door to her bedroom.
"Yes?"
"Will you be sleeping with me, er no, that's not what I meant," she said noticing the raised eyebrow on the taller woman, "I meant, uh, forget it." She shuffled passed Diana and shut the door hard on her own foot, cursed then shut the door and turned the lock.
"If you want me to, I don't mind." Diana yelled through the door.
"Go away!" Hermione yelled back.
"Ugh I am so stupid, what in the world possessed me to say that?"
"My charming, alluring self."
"I thought I said go away."
"You're not stupid. You just have excellent taste." Diana said with a chuckle.
Hermione opened the door. Diana still stood outside with her belongings. "It was a joke, Hermione; you may have hit your head a little harder than we thought. Here," Diana stepped inside and placed her suitcase on the recliner. "If you are inclined for me to sleep in the same room as you that can be arranged. The offer is there. I will let you get settled and come back to show you around the lower part of the embassy and escort you to dinner." Diana patted her on her shoulder, and shut the door as she left.
She allowed her jaw to drop. "It's as if she's a completely different person. She was teasing me. No pompous attitude." Hermione sat down on the bed to ponder over these new revelations she was discovering.
