Kara was fuming. A three hour CAP ahead of her and Bingo, her wingman for the day, was late. Frakking asshole.

"Pegasus, where the frak is my wingman?" she asked through the comms. If he wasn't there in five minutes, she would shoot him…

"Chill, Starbuck," Helo's voice responded via wireless. "He'll be there soon. There were some things for him to do before he left."

She wondered why it was Helo instead of Lee responding from the CIC… "He'd better, or I won't be responsible for my own actions," Kara stated.

And Helo was right because in a couple of minutes her DRADIS monitor detected another viper approaching her.

"Okay, I'm turning off your line with Pegasus," Helo said. "You have a private line with your wingman. Contact us if you see anything."

Turning off the line with Pegasus? Wasn't that supposed to be on at all times so they could hear the communications between the vipers? What the frak was going on with everyone today?! "Bingo, give me a good reason not to shoot you," she told her wingman.

There was laughing on the other opposite of the line. "Well, I think being a widow wouldn't suit you," her husband's familiar voice came through the wireless.

Kara open her mouth and closed it repeatedly in shock. Looking at her right, she saw Lee inside a viper waving at her. "Lee…? What the frak…" What the frak is he doing here? She thought.

"Is this anniversary present good enough or do I have to try harder?" he asked in a playful tone.

"Frak, are you kidding me?" she asked in disbelief. Good didn't cover it. "This beats anything I've ever imagined. I knew there was a reason why I married you."

"Glad to make you happy, Starbuck," he told her. "Now, for all intents and purposes, Bingo is the one flying CAP with you, so don't uncover me. I had to bribe him and five deckhands with leaves to the Rising Star."

"Oh, so that means that I'm technically flirting with Bingo?" Kara inquired playfully. "I don't my man would like that. He's all jealous and has his own battlestar."

"You forgot to mention extremely brave and desirable," Lee played along. "We'd better watch him, don't you think? I wouldn't want such a tough guy hunting me down because I lust for his wife."

She laughed. Gods, flying with Lee was something else. No wonder she had missed it so much… "A tough guy who melts whenever his little girl gives him a smile," she pointed out. Jamie was so his soft spot.

"Can you really blame him?" he asked. "She's your kid, after all."

"Hum, I'm liking this CAP," she stated.

"Me too," he agreed. "Let's show everyone how this thing is supposed to be done."

Erin had been surprised when Sam showed up in the sickbay saying that he needed to talk to her alone. She taken him to hers and Nate's quarters as the little boy was in daycare. But, judging by her ex-boyfriend's face, she could say she wouldn't like the news.

"The Admiral wants me to go o the planet to lead the civilian volunteers," he told her, confirming her suspicions. "I said yes."

She looked at him stunned. "You said 'yes'?! No 'I need time to think'?"

"There wasn't time to think," he told her. "I'm leaving tomorrow. I have to be there before the others."

"Damn it, Sam!" she cursed in frustration. "And you didn't think for a single second that your son, you know, that boy who's been hanging out with you, will probably be heartbroken with you going to a frakking deserted planet to play farmer?!"

He sighed. Of course he had. That was his biggest worry. "I'll come back in two weeks, Erin. I promise I'll call him whenever I can."

"Right, 'cause the telephone will be exactly the same thing as you being here," she said sarcastically. He was leaving them behind. When everything seemed to be going peacefully (and somewhat coldly towards her, at the same time), he was leaving. Frak, did she deserve this? "Are you done, Sam?"

He looked at her confused. "Done?"

"Are you done punishing me? Hurting me back?" she asked, tears starting to fall. Sam knew she wasn't the crying type. Something had to be very wrong for that to happen. "'Cause if you're not, please tell me so I can take some anesthesia. This whole thing, you having a grudge against me, is getting way too painful. I feel fraking raw, Sam!" That last part was said shouting.

Sam felt like a bastard at that moment. Erin, his Erin, was breaking down in front of him because of something he'd done. He guessed the whole outburst was because she had kept it all bottled up inside for weeks but his attitude hadn't helped… He approached her and lifted her chin, looking at her tear-strained face. "Erin, I'm not trying to hurt you."

Erin brushed his hand away. "Sam, look me in the eyes and tell me I have nothing to do with you deciding to leave," she dared him. He didn't say a word, and she did need another answer. "That's what I thought…"

"I'm not doing this because I want to hurt you," he told her. "Frak, it's just that these past weeks basically changed my life. I just need a little time away to think, Erin, and if I'm able to help the fleet by getting food while I'm doing it, that would be a blast. And if that thinking gets my shit together, maybe we'll be able to decide once and for all what to do with 'us' and our son and we will be both out of this misery. Because, believe me, this impasse we're into is just as painful to you as it is to me."

She let herself fall to the couch and covered her face with her hands. He was right. Time away might help. But it didn't make things suck any less. Especially now with the… Shee shook her head, unwilling to think of it. "Can you pick Nate up from daycare in one hour and watch him for a while? I don't want him to see me like this," she requested, not looking at his face.

"Sure, I'll do it," he told her. Then, in a purely instinctive act, Sam approached her, crouched in front of her and kissed her forehead softly. "I will come back. I promise."

Erin nodded absently. And in the moment he left, closing the hatch behind him, she broke down in tears again.

The past three hours had been unbelievable, Kara thought back as she landed the viper.

If that was possible, they were better in the flying together thing now, than they had been when they did it all the time. Their synchrony, which had been great in the past, was now, in a single word, perfect. She imagined that was because their trust in each other was bigger than ever.

Plus, the sensations up there while they did their loopings or little races… It was so sexual it was like frakking in the middle of space; and the best of it was that she didn't need to hide how turned on she was, because nobody except her husband was listening. Of one thing she was sure: if in fifteen minutes the two of them weren't ripping each other's clothes to a session of hot frakking in their bed, she would die. And Kara was sure she wasn't alone in that one…

Right after a deckhand removed her helmet and she descended to the deck and waited for Lee (who had been sent to a dark corner of the deck so people wouldn't see that their commander had been flying CAP). Her heartbeat raced when she saw him walk in her direction, already dressed in his uniform. The look he gave her was a clear 'Wanna frak?', to which she responded with a 'Hell Yes!' look.

"Captain, how was your CAP?" he asked, pretending not to have been there with her.

"Very good, sir," she told him. "I especially liked my wingman…"

Then, they practically ran to their cabin and, in the moment Lee locked the door, clothes started to fly everywhere and they barely made it to the bed…

---

Sometime later, neither of them was sure if it had been minutes, hours, days or months, Kara was finally able to say a full sentence. "You've been holding out on me, Flyboy."

Lee smiled cockily by her side. "I thought it wouldn't be wise to put all the cards on the table at once… Just wait for our actual wedding anniversary."

She snorted. "Be glad the baby is in daycare or we would have scarred her for life…"

He laughed, not saying anything.

Kara turned to him, an eyebrow raised. "You seem to be awfully happy after receiving the news from your father."

Her husband looked at her in confusion. "What news?"

Frak, she cursed in her head. The Old Man hadn't told him. She was in trouble, oh she was… "Nothing," she tried, deeply hoping Lee wasn't in a questioning mood.

"Kara," he insisted, knowing she was hiding something. "What news? I won0t tell him I know."

She shook her head. "The Old Man was supposed to tell you, not me! Frak, he even brought her here today. Why wouldn't he tell you?!"

Lee got even more confused. "Brought her…?" But then, it was like something illuminated him and he figured the whole thing out. "Oh. Oh! My dad and the pres…?"

"Yeah," Kara confirmed, covering her face. More embarrassing that accidentally blurting it to Lee, was telling him in bed, naked, after some mind-blowing sex.

"Frak!" he cursed loudly.

In the middle of all the embarrassment, Kara had to laugh at her husband's reaction. His face was priceless – at some point she though he was going to cry. It seemed like he had actually just caught the two in bed.

He looked at him wife. "Do you think it's funny? My father is… you know… the frakking president!" He immediately regretted his choice of words and saw Kara covering her face with her pillow to keep herself from laughing even harder. "I need a drink…"

He heard the typical Starbuck guffaw coming from behind the pillow and groaned.

Breaking the news to Nate had been hard at first as the little boy had gotten upset immediately. It was only after Sam explained exactly what he was going to do on the planet and promised to call at least every two days that his son had calmed down and reluctantly accepted. The rest of the time was spent mostly in the gym, where there was Pyramid head and he taught the boy some moves.

"You promise you're gonna call?" Nate asked his father when they reached the entrance of his mother's quarters.

Sam kneeled in front of him and looked the little boy in the eye. "I promise," he said. "But you have to promise that you'll take care of your mommy for me, okay?" Nate nodded and wrapped his arms around Sam's neck and he lifted the little boy from the floor in a hug. "It's just two weeks, buddy."

"That's a long time," his son said, a sad expression on his face. "Can I tell you a secret?"

"Sure you can, kid."

The little boy reached for his ear and murmured, "I wish you were my daddy."

Sam was taken aback with that one. He really didn't know what to say. He just wished he could tell his son the truth right now… Then he remembered something his mother used to tell him when he was a little boy, wished seemed like the right answer. "Close your eyes, wish that really hard and maybe it will come true." It rarely worked when he was a kid, but as Nate had asked for something that was actually a fact, it would this time.

Then, Sam knocked on the hatch and, seconds later, a calmer Erin opened it, allowing Nate in. "Wait, Sam," she told him when he had already turned to leave.

He turned around and saw her standing in there, a nervous look on her face. "Yeah?"

She shook her head, like convincing herself of something. "It's nothing; we'll talk after you return. Be safe down there."

He was about to insist to say whatever she had given up to, but decided not to push it. She seemed to be a little sent«sitive right now… "I will," he promised.

And, for the second time in her life, Erin regretted keeping something so important from the love of her life. She let him go down there without telling him the truth: that she was carrying his child again.

A/N: How was that ending? I had the chapter finished yesterday, byt decided to rewrite the Sam/Erin parts to make them a little more intense... Hope it worked, my sister said they were a blast. Remember, 10 reviews will get you a preview of next chapter in my livejournal.
