Epilogue

Four years later

"I hate her!" Kara said, looking herself in the mirror. "I hate her for making me wear this stupid dress! I swear to gods I will kill her! I look like a… like a frakking lilac cow."

"Don't curse, Momma!" Jamie warned her, sitting on her parents's bed with her legs crossed underneath the skirt of her flower girl dress, the same color as her mother's.

"Right," Kara murmured to herself. One would think she had already learned not to curse in front of the kids. Fortunately, Jamie seemed to be immune to the whole cursing festival. Her first word was 'Momma', followed by the word 'bad' right after Kara had shouted some obscenity. But apart from the whole curse immunity, Jamie was just like her mother in her stubborn and bossy self… "Just don't tell your dad you heard this from me."

"Too late." Lee entered the room with their son, Billy, by the hand. "Daddy had already heard. You should listen to our four-year-old voice of reason, Kara."

"Four-and-a-half, Daddy!" Jamie corrected him, a pout on her face. They never remembered the 'half' part.

"I apologize for my mistake," Lee mockingly told his daughter and turned to Kara. "I meant our four-and-a-half year old voice of reason." He looked back at Jamie. "Better?"

She nodded in satisfaction. "Better, Daddy."

Kara groaned, checking how her overgrown stomach looked in that dress from the side. "You know what? Go to the wedding with the kids and I'll stay home. Tell them I broke a leg or that I moved to mars. I'm not going! What possessed her to make me be a bridesmaid!? I don't do bridesmaid stuff!"

Her husband shook his head. She couldn't be serious. "Kara, it is my father's wedding. He and Laura would be really upset if you didn't show up."

She huffed. "Well, why did they take so long to tie the knot, then? They could have waited for an occasion when I wasn't this fat!"

Lee didn't even try to reason her this time – she wasn't fat, she was pregnant. Close-to-pop pregnant, to be more specific. But Kara wouldn't listen, obviously. The word stubborn should be branded on her forehead.

Billy let go of his father's hand and toddled to Kara. "You look pwetty, Momma."

Kara smiled down at her son as her heart melted looking at those blue eyes and ruffled his dark brown hair. That was the only Adama boy she believe when he said she looked good. But then again, he was three. His notion of pretty wasn't the same as the rest of the world's. "Thanks, little man."

Billy grinned at his mom and went to join his sister on the bed.

Lee put an arm around his wife. His fingers traced the faded bullet scar on her left arm. "Billy's right. You look pretty. Let's not keep dad waiting, shall we?"

She sighed. "Can't I at least wear something else? Something other than a dress."

He shook his head. "Laura's orders. It's just for today," he promised. "But for the record, you look beautiful in that dress."

"You always say that," she complained.

He kissed her cheek. "And I always mean it." He turned to their children. "To the car, nuggets."

Billy was the first to run and Jamie approached her mother before following her brother. "I don't like my dress either, Momma," she confessed. "It's too girly."

Kara smiled and caressed her daughter's dark blond hair. It was good to know she wasn't the only one that didn't like the clothes. "I guess we'll have to make a sacrifice together, then."

---

Two hours later, a lot of ceremony and complaining from Kara later, Bill Adama and Laura Roslin were officially husband and wife.

The room was full of people, mostly from Galactica. The wedding between the former Admiral and the former President was an event expected for years – nobody wanted to miss it, obviously.

As the newlyweds stood being greeted by the guests (young Billy being proudly held by his namesake of a grandfather), old acquaintances used the time before the reception to catch up. Saul and Ellen Tigh were by the bar already holding cocktails (even though it was still a few minutes to noon) talking to Hoshi and his wife, who happened to be none other than Tory Foster. The news of their wedding had been sort of bizarre at the time as nobody had ever heard they were even dating – many assumed it was because Hoshi held an important position in the military these days and Tory, of course, loved people with influence. Kara couldn't help feeling sorry for the former communications officer…

Sitting by the main table of the room, Kara saw Lee talking to one the former members of the quorum, probably about law stuff – after their arrival to Earth, Lee had decided to change careers and become a lawyer. Kara had used the occasion to crack a few jokes about how predictable it was, considering his by-the-rules nature. She had opted to become a flight instructor in the beginning but after Billy's birth, staying at home didn't seem like such a bad idea and she quit the military for good.

She also noticed that, a few feet away, Jamie was having a heated discussion with Nathan Anders. Kara wondered what it was about – those two were always together, which wasn't really difficult since Nate lived right across the street from them. Hera joined sometimes, but it was mostly just the two of them. Kara returned her attention to trying to hear what the discussion was about.

"But I am older," Seven-year-old Nate tried to reason with the younger girl.

"So?" Jamie replied. "My momma is younger than your daddy and she used to be his boss! Plus, I'm a girl. Gils make better bosses!"

"No they don't, you're making that up!" he said in annoyance.

Kara just sat there with an eyebrow rose looking at the kids. What the heck was that all about? Bosses?

"Boss of what?" a familiar voice asked by her side.

She turned to see Erin taking a seat by her side. "I have no idea," Kara replied, trying to find a better position on the chair as she felt a twinge down her spine. She looked at her friend in despair. "Tell me I don't look ridiculous in this dress. Not only did Laura make wear a dress that looks like a frakking tent but also in lilac! I don't wear Lilac. I'm Starbuck, for frak's sake!"

"It's not that bad," Erin replied, thanking the gods she hadn't been made a bridesmaid.

"Liar," Kara grumbled moodily. "Where is your better half? "

Erin shrugged. "Probably trying to steal the kids back from Barolay and Hillard. They took upon them spoiling them senseless. I swear I have no idea why they don't have their own."

"Obviously because being pregnant is a pain," she replied, her back bothering her more than ever. "Sore back, swollen ankles, heartburn, peeing every ten minutes…"

"Aw, it's not that bad," Erin protested. "Besides, the whole thing is worth the end. And don't tell me you don't drool all over your kids, 'cause I know that's a lie."

Kara didn't reply, recognizing defeat.

Sam approached them a few minutes later them. On his arms there was his and Erin's three-year-old daughter, Claire. There was no doubt she was her parent's daughter, having inherited her mother's looks with little bits of Sam all over her.

"I wanna dance with you, Daddy," the little girl was telling him in a small girly voice capable of melt someone, namely her father.

"There's no music, Claire-bear," he pointed out. "Tell you what, I'll save you a dance for when there's music."

Claire thought for a moment. "Okay, Daddy." She kissed his cheek. "Put me down. I wanna walk to Mommy."

Sam obliged and put the little girl on the floor, holding her hand 'till they reached a smiling Erin and she climbed up her lap.

"Aren't we still missing two of our kids?" Erin asked playfully.

"I was outnumbered," he replied. "They bribed Charlie with sweets and the little traitor passed to the dark side. Sara, well, we can't really expect her to pick sides when she's too young to walk. Claire-bear was the only one faithful to the cause."

Little Claire smiled up at her father in triumph. She liked Uncle Hill and Auntie Jeanie but Daddy was Daddy… In her head, he was, to put it simple, the hero of all fairy-tales her mother had ever read to her.

Kara watched the interaction between Sam and Erin as he kissed her cheek lovingly. These days, she could barely associate any of the five, Sam included, with the cylons. They were people, period. Kara was pretty sure Erin and Sam would somehow manage be happy anyway if his real nature had been revealed. But everything was so much simpler that way.

Just one day after their arrival to Earth, Erin and Sam had gotten a priest and married right in the middle of the field they had landed on, to Nate's delight. Little more than six months later, after Sam had taken a job playing a pyramid-like game they had on earth, the two had welcomed to the word not one baby but two of them – Claire and Charlie. And just six months ago their family had been enlarged again with the arrival of little Sara. Something told Kara there were more kids to come… especially the fact that she had the 'pregnant look' on her face right now.

"Are they still on it?" Erin inquired, looking at her oldest son and Jamie still discussing who should be the boss of Gods-know-what.

"Looks like it," Kara replied and looked Sam. "You don't happen to know what they want so much to be bosses of, Pyramid boy, do you?"

"Everything," he responded. "They are basically discussing which one is the leader of the duo. Nate told me about it. It's like the event of the century to them." Kara gave him an 'are you kidding?' look. "I know, it's stupid. But they are kids."

Claire eventually left to go play with the Agathon's youngest daughter, Hestia, leaving the three of them to observe as their firstborns discussed the leadership of their duo.

When it seemed like they would jump at each other's throats, late lifted his hands in surrender. "Fine, you can be the boss," they heard him giving up. "But only if I get to be the sidekick!"

Jamie raised a tiny eyebrow in confusion. "What's a sidekick?" she inquired.

"The boss's best friend," he responded after a few moments of thinking.

The girl crossed her arms. "Then you already are my sidekick, silly!" She turned around and started walking away but stopped a few feet ahead when she noticed Nate wasn't following. Jamie turned to him. "Come on, Natey! You have to follow the boss."

The young boy shrugged and did as she said. "Fine, but don't call me Natey!"

Satisfied at the resolution, Kara grinned at her friends. "Well, I guess the problem is solved. Looks like being the boss runs in our bloo…" she couldn't finish because she felt a sharp pain and immediately knew what was going on. So that was what the back ache was about.

"Kara, you okay?" Erin asked in her typical doctor concern, even though she was just a kids' doctor these days.

She nodded. "Tell Lee to get the car," Kara told her friend, her hands resting on her large stomach. "I'm pretty sure this kid will be born soon and I'd rather it was not in the Old Man's wedding reception."

---

"Jamie's gonna be pissed," Kara murmured with a laugh several hours later as she stared down at the newborn baby boy sleeping in her arms. She had to admit this time giving birth wasn't half as painful as the last ones, probably because she had been so highly doped. Gods bless the drugs, she thought. Billy's birth had developed so fast the doctors didn't have time to give them to her even though she threw a monumental fit in the birthing room. This one had been a picnic compared to it…

"She really wanted a sister, didn't she?" Lee inquired, also admiring the new addition to the Adama family. He didn't really care if it was boy or girl as long as the kid was healthy and Kara was the proud momma. "I guess she'll have to wait for the next one…"

Kara elbowed him on his ribs in reply. He had some nerve – she had just giver birth to a kid and he was already planning another! "The won't be another one, Lee Adama," she warned him in a dangerous tone.

He ignored her. "That's what you said last time," Lee sing-sang.

Her eyes narrowed and she clenched her teeth. "Let's put it like this," she said, close to fury. "If you ever knock me up again I swear I will sign you up to a 'snip-snip' and make sure you actually have it even if that happens at gunpoint."

Lee stared at her in horror and swallowed hard. "You wouldn't," he gasped. She didn't own a gun anymore, these days – gods knew how dangerous that could be if the kids found it. But Kara surely would be able to get one if she wanted it badly.

She gave him a calm smile, which scared him even more. After five years of marriage, he knew very well that having Kara smile after threatening somebody was not a good thing. "Just wait for it," she replied and turned her attention back to the wriggling bundle she was holding. She let the baby boy grasp her finger as he opened his tired eyes. Tears almost fell from her eyes. Her little rugrat was beautiful, just like the other two. "Now that we are clear about this, we should start thinking of names."

For his own sanity, Lee opted to forget the whole 'knock me up and get a snip-snip' conversation. At least for the moment. He needed to find a way to work her around it… but for now, he concentrated on the naming game. "Daniel doesn't sound too bad." Kara gave him a look. "What?"

"I dated a guy named Daniel," she pointed out. She was pensive for a moment. "Scratch that. I dated a guy named Daniel and made out with another with the same name."

"The major," Lee growled.

"Right. Let's not name our kid after our exes, shall we?"

Lee shrugged. "I guess that rules out Zak too…" But when the name left his mouth it sounded so fitting, so perfect, that he and Kara crossed looks as if begging to forget that stupid rule because at that moment they knew. They knew no other name would fit their son as well as the one that had once belonged to that person they had held so dear…

"Maybe we could make an exception?" Kara suggested before looking down at the baby. "He looks like a Zak to me."

Lee nodded in agreement. "I think I can live with that," he stated, caressing the baby's blond hair, just like his mother's. And then he kissed his wife's hair tenderly. "Little Zak," he whispered, touching the baby's little fist.

After all the adventures and misadventures, there they were: alive, together and with a family in peace. Maybe the cylons would show up again one day, who knew? But they wouldn't be able to take that away from them.

"I love you, Lee Adama," Kara murmured to him.

He smiled. "I love you too, Kara Adama."

Thinking that had all stated under the New Caprican Sunrise…

The End

A/N: Well, I think the sentence above says it all. I want to thank all my reviewers - they were a great support and this time. And I also want to thank my betas, who happen to be my twin sister and boyfriend (AnneRG and miketheking- I owe you both!).

I won't be writing another fic for the next few months - need to concentrate in college stuff and getting a full schollarship for the remaining four semesters.

Give me your final thoughts with a last review. My flight is leaving in two hours - I'll respond tomorrow or so.

Thanks for reading.
