Leon Scott Kennedy carefully took out several picnic baskets from the car, Jill Valentine rushed to his side when he almost drop the baskets. She snatched two of them from his hand.
"5 baskets in one go? What do you think you're doing? Ridiculous" she yelled. Leon shrugged in response.
"where are the others?"
"Chris and Claire is going to be late, Piers got to study with Carla today so he can't come. How about Sherry, I thought you'd ask her to come?"
"She got a test tomorrow, but she'll come out when she finished studying. I also invited Helena too, is it okay?"
Jill nodded. The two teenager sat on the picnic cloth. She stole a peek into one of the basket and smiled brightly, "as expected from the chef."
Leon did a little bow before lying down on the cloth. Jill chuckled and muttered her thanks. The blonde girl took out a book from her leather bag. They both fell into silence.
It's Sunday, his groups has this annual picnic event that they would do every month. It used to be just him, Chris, and Claire, but as the time goes more people started to come. 2 months ago they went to Arkalay mountain, several months before they went to a beach that took almost 2 hours driving from Racoon City, since the weather isn't kind lately they decided to do it in front of the lake that's not far away from Leon's house.
Leon's iphone rings. He look at the screen. The name itself has successfully ruined his good mood. He sighed as his fingers moving to mute the phone. Jill who's beside him noticed and let out a sigh as well.
"You should tell her personally that it's over, maybe she doesn't get it the last time," she said.
"no she get it, she is just being annoyingly persistent."
"She is Ashley Graham, so it's not surprising"
"it's not, but it's annoying as hell. 'Leon do you think we should go anywhere for christmas?', 'Leon would you accompany me to a dinner?', 'Leon how about going to a keg party'" he mocked.
Jill laughed. She put down her book, "Anyway, she's probably worried about you. Lately you're not even around for lunch. She would ask for you everyday but even I have no idea where you were. I don't think you need to dissapear like that just to avoid her, you know?"
"It's not that I'm avoiding her, I ate my lunch with Ada"
Jill gave him a look of suspicions, "i see"
"Its just a lunch, besides who am I eating my lunch with is not actually none of Ashley business."
"Is that so?"
Leon does not answer, he doesn't think there's anything he should say.
"Leon, if I may ask, who actually is Ada Wong to you? A friend? Someone you has a crush on? Someone convenient for avoiding another girls?"
Leon unconciously gritted his teeth, no matter how her words actually hurts his feelings, Jill is right. His friendship was torn because of his inability to decide where a person stands. He thought he likes Claire more than a friend, when actually he were just trying to make her a rebound. He thought Angela is the one for him, but he ended up fooling around with Ashley. He has been treating those around him like rubbish. If he really want to change, he needs to decide where Ada Wong stands.
But where does she stands, exactly?
Who is Ada Wong to Leon Kennedy? They bickered a lot, he's not going to lie about how irritated that makes him. But at the same time, he's the one that's being persistent, he keeps eating lunch with her, he always waited for the right time to go out from the school so he could offer her a ride.
Does it mean he really cares about her?
But his reason could also be the third options. He could've done that so Ashley wouldn't bother him, so he doesn't have to see Claire so much. He could be just using Ada to avoid them.
You're not just bad at understanding people, you also bad at understanding yourself.
Back then, someone who he considers dear to him said that. She's right. That girl has always right, he just didn't admit it. She understands him more than himself, and the very fact hurts his ego.
"This time you should think about it first. You wouldn't one anyone getting hurt, are you?" Jill said in a matter of fact tone. Leon blinked a few times, trying to off his train of thoughts.
Of course he doesn't. That's the answer to her question that he doesn't speak up. It's logical for someone to not wanting anyone to get hurts.
The more he thinks about it, the more he doubt himself. Is he really do not want anyone gets hurt? It took his mind back to months ago. Where he shouted that he really hope she'd die. An ill thought that he shouldn't have spoken out loud.
It's ironic how that kind of wish is the one that got granted in the end.
"Hey Jill, have you ever want it?"
Jill gave him a puzzled expressions.
"Have you ever want someone to get hurt?"
"I have, but I regret it later on, ended up apologizing," Jill sighed, her eyes gazing to the cloudy sky.
That's Jill Valentine for you, she knows what to do best. That girl live her life upon people's expectation. It must felt nice, being able to apologize. Leon lips formed a bitter smile.
"It's true what they said after all"
"What?"
"You and I are so similar yet so different," he said with a bitter laugh.
So we've got to see more of Jill in this chapter. She's actually the reason why I got interested in Resident Evil, so horay for Jill. I also had fun writing her and had to restrain myself from thinking of making another fic for her.
Someone told me that I just keep on adding more and more problems that it annoys her, well if you think the same I'm very sorry for that. I'm also sorry for the slow updates (even though I just had a two weeks off, I really am unbelievable).
