I don't own Doctor Who
"Who are you" Rose demands of the woman hugging her.
"Doctor River Song, must be early days for you." River retracted her hug.
"Okay, Dr. Song, really early days, because I've never met you before!"
"What does the Doctor look like?"
"How do you know the Doctor? How do you know me? And what kind of question is that?"
"I know you three, I also know Sophie, from your future. Bad Wolf, you need to trust me!"
"What's Bad Wolf?! Why do those words keep following me?"
"So really, really early for you then. So is the Doctor an elephant currently?"
"Well that's what Sofia calls him, what do you mean currently?"
"Spoilers" Dr. Song holds a finger over her lips.
"How can I know I can trust you right now?"
"Let me see your arm" the Doctor says to Sofia.
"All right" Sofia agrees.
The Doctor sonics her arm, and announces "The bullet went clean through, and didn't hit any major arteries or veins."
"Can you use the sonic screwdriver to heal my wound, or at least stop the bleeding?"
"I can cauterize the wound, but healing will have to wait until we get back to the TARDIS; if we get back to the TARDIS." The Doctor admits as he cauterizes her wound.
"Well aren't you cheery."
"By any chance do you know any quantum physics from that textbook that'll break a dead lock seal?"
"A, how would quantum physic help? B, I didn't read a textbook." Sofia's voice was soft, maybe even a little scared sounding.
"What did you read?"
"Honestly? It was a copy of Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens that I was trying to read because I knew how much you loved Dickens and thought reading it would impress you."
"Trying?"
"I couldn't make it past chapter one before being board out of my mind. I'm not very good at reading novels that go nowhere."
"Why did you say that it was textbook from planet Zork?"
"It sounded good, and I was really hoping that there was such a thing as planet Zork. I didn't want to mock me for failing to read Dickens."
"And you're bothering to tell me the truth now?"
"We're going to be dead within a day, why not?"
"Now look at whose being cheery!" the Doctor mocks.
Sofia lets out a small laugh. "You're using my own taunt against me, how rude!"
The two of them are silent for a few minutes.
"I've noticed that you seem to care more about Rose then she does for you." The Doctor comments tentatively.
"I think you've noticed correctly." Sofia admits.
"Why do you say that?"
"At least twice now, Rose has gone off and left me for a non-predetermined amount of time with hardly a second thought for me. I stayed and waited for her to come back, ready with open arms. I'd do anything to keep her safe, I don't feel like I can say the reverse is true."
"That's crazy"
"She'd sooner save you then me."
"You're her sister, and Rose has known me less than a year!" the Doctor protests.
"Half-sister, she loves you."
"How could she love me?"
"How could she love Jimmy Stone?"
"Jimmy Stone?"
"A few years back," Sofia regales, "when I was 10 and Rose was 15, 16 years old, our mother, Jackie Tyler, got very ill. Around the same time, Rose met 22 year old Jimmy Stone. He was a singer in a band. He charmed Rose. He promised her that someday his band would make it big, and that she could tour the world with him. Rose believed that wanker. She ran off with him. Dropped out of school even. Meanwhile, our mom just got sicker and sicker. Mickey Smith, who was a good friend of Rose, came and helped take care of me. He was like the big brother I didn't have. Rose didn't come back for a year. Turns out Jimmy had several other girls that he also slept with. By the time Rose came back, Jackie had died. Rose came home three weeks after Mum's funeral. Three years later, you arrived in your blue box, and took her away for another year. Another, long year. Mickey came back and helped support me again." [1]
"I'm sorry"
[1] At long last you know why Jackie is not around, not that any of you bothered to ask! How cruel am I to Sofia?
