I don't own Doctor Who
"What's going on?" Sofia yells as the TARDIS jerks all over the place.
"Its mauve!" the Doctor answers, "The universal color for danger!"
"What happened to red?" Rose asks.
"That's just humans, red means camp! All of those red alerts, all those misunderstandings, all that dancing!"
"Why are we jerking around even more than usual?" Sofia demands.
"I'm going to ignore the 'more than usual'." The Doctor says, "It's jumping time tracks, and I've slaved the TARDIS to track it."
"I'm sure she loves that!"
"Sarcasm?"
"Duh"
"Are you sure about that t-shirt?" the Doctor address this question to Rose who has a Union Jack on her shirt.
"I'm taking it out for a spin," Rose responds. "Why are we fallowing that thing again?"
"Because it's mauve, dangerous, and about thirty seconds away from the center of London!"
"Why is it always in England?" Sofia demands just as the TARDIS lands.
The trio exits the blue box.
"How long can we go without returning to Earth?" Rose asks, "A month, a week, or just when we run out of milk?"
"Of all of the animals in the universe, it has to come out of a cow!" the Doctor says.
"So how far behind are we from the thing?" Sofia asks.
"A bit"
"Is that exactly a bit?" Rose asks.
"Ish" the Doctor adds.
"So how long then?" Sofia questions with a slightly mocking tone.
"A few weeks, a month?" the Doctor hazards.
"A month!" Rose exclaims in disbelief.
"It was jumping time tracks!"
"Excuses, excuses!" Sofia exclaims, "You're just a terrible driver!"
"You think you can do better?" the Doctor challenges.
"I'd have to learn first, which is more than you ever did!"
"Ouch?"
"Anyways," Rose cuts them off, "how are you going to find this thing? Are you going to do a scan for alien tech?"
"It landed in the middle of London with a loud bang, I'm going to ask." The Doctor says.
"Come on, give me some Spock!"
"People, music, answers" the Doctor indicates a door.
"Mummy?" Rose hears.
Rose turns towards the source of the sound to see a child on the top of building.
"Doctor, Sophie!" Rose announces, "There's a child up there!"
The Doctor and Sofia don't hear her. Rose goes after the child by herself.
Rose finds a rope and starts climbing it. The child keeps asking for "Mummy".
"Balloon!" the child points to the Barrage-Balloon that Rose is hanging from, and that has come undone.
"Rose?" Sofia notices that her sister has disappeared. "Oh, I'm sure Wolfie can take care of herself."
"What?" the Doctor asks the brunet as he finishes sonicing the door open.
"Just that the big bad wolf, also known as my sister, can take care of herself"
"Rose wondered off?"
"Yep"
"Rule one, don't wonder off; she hasn't listened once!" the Doctor rants.
"People, music, answers?"
"Not worried if Rose is okay?"
"Not enough to chase her right now..." Sofia shrugs.
"So, people, music, answers?"
"Lead the way, Mr. Not-Spock."
"Mr. Not-Spock, really?"
"Would you prefer if I went back to calling you Elephant?"
"Shut up and follow me!" the Doctor orders, exasperated.
Sofia quietly snickers at him.
"I said to shut up!"
The two of them go into the club where they wait for the singer to finish. Once the singer finishes, the two of them go up on the stage.
"This might seem like a stupid question..." the Doctor starts.
"But has anything fallen from the sky lately?" Sofia continues.
The people in the club start to laugh.
"We're serious," the Doctor claims, "Would have been near the center of London..."
He's cut off by a loud siren. The people start to flee.
"Would have fallen with a loud..." the Doctor catches sight of the poster, "...bang."
"Hitler will send no warning." Read the poster. It had a picture of airplanes dropping bombs on it.
"Oops" Sofia comments.
"Oops?" the Doctor says exasperatedly.
"Would you rather I made a comment about doing a scan for alien tech?"
"I think you just did."
"Shut up"
"You first"
"No, you first."
"My TARDIS, I could leave you here in the middle of the Blitz."
"The TARDIS likes me better."
"Where's Rose when we need her to break our fight up?"
"You could call her, and you didn't deny the fact that the TARDIS likes me better!"
"This is physic paper" Rose looks at the card that Captain Jack Harkness had just handed her.
"How do you know?" the flirtatious Time Agent inquires.
"Two reasons; one, I have a friend that uses it all the time."
"Ah"
"And two; you just handed me a thing that says 'your available and work out'. You can't let you mind wonder when you're using physic paper."
"Clearly," Jack comments, "This says that 'your single, but you have a half-sister that will cut my balls off if I hurt you.'"
"Sofia will, and let's try to get along without the physic paper, shall we?"
The Doctor and Sofia have made their way back to the TARDIS (fighting all the way), when the fake phone on the outside of it starts ringing.
"It's ringing?" the Doctor is surprised to find that the phone on the outside of the TARDIS is ringing.
"Thank you captain obvious." Sofia grumbles.
"But it's not a real phone!"
"Don't answer it!" a dark haired young woman pleads from the shadows.
"How can it be ringing?" the Doctor is still stumped. "It's not a real phone, it's not hooked up to anything."
By this time the weird girl has vanished...
"Whatever, I'm picking it up!" Sophie declares.
"Mummy?" a little boy's voice comes from the phone.
"What the fuck?" Sofia exclaims.
"What is it?" the Doctor asks.
"A little boy looking for his mummy! I mean we're not in Egypt!"
"Egypt, really?"
"Couldn't resist"
"Let's try to find that girl, I think she might have some answers." The Doctor suggests.
"Key" Sofia agrees.
"Really?"
"I was going to suggest the same thing."
"Really?"
"I think the record's broken."
"Really funny"
"It's gone on to the next word!"
"Hi" Sofia says to the bunch of kids situated around a dining table with the girl from earlier seemingly in charge. All of the kids give a big start to see Sofia and/especially the Doctor there.
"We shouldn't be here either." Nancy reminds them.
"Are you a copper?" one of the kids asks the Doctor.
"No, and even if I was, what would I do? Arrest you for starving?" The Doctor inquires.
The kids let out a laugh.
"Once the air sirens go off, you find someone's dinner that's still warm and eat it." Sofia comments.
"Something wrong with that?" Nancy demands.
"We think it's brilliant, and I never caught your name..."
"Nancy"
"In that case, Nancy, nice to meet you, I'm Sofia." Sofia grins.
At that moment, Nancy takes the plate from the Doctor's hands.
"Oy!" he protests, "What did I do?"
"You took two slices." Nancy reprimands.
"While we're here, any chance that you've seen a blond woman?" the Doctor asks. "A specific one, I didn't just wake up with a craving."
The kids laugh.
"She's my half-sister," Sofia cuts in, "Wearing a Union Jack on her shirt?"
"Sorry," one of the kids says.
"Sall right, she's probably hanging from a barrage balloon, Rose tends to be jeopardy friendly." Sofia grins.
"Barrage balloon?" the Doctor asks.
"Intuition"
"Seriously?" the Doctor goes back to addressing the other kids, "We're also looking for something that probably fell to the ground about a month ago. Like a bomb, but not a bomb. It wouldn't have exploded." The Doctor draws something on a piece of paper. "It would have looked something like this."
"Muuummyyyy!" a little boy's voice cut's through the air.
"Run!" Nancy orders.
The everyone scatters except for Nancy, Sofia and the Doctor. Those three head towards the front door which is where the child is trying to come in.
"It's never nice being the child left out in the cold." The Doctor claims.
"And you would know!" Nancy bites.
"I do actually."
"He's not like the other children."
"How so?" Sofia asks.
"He's empty." Nancy explains.
The cries of "Mummy" start coming from everything electronic with a speaker grill.
"No mummies in here," the Doctor says as a little hand with a scar on the back of it reaches through the mail flap. "Just three chickens"
"Well, two chickens" Sofia notes that Nancy has fled.
"I'm opening the door now."
The Doctor opens the door to find that the child is gone.
"Ummmmmmm" Sofia says.
"How'd you find me?" Nancy demands as the Doctor and Sofia approach her.
"I followed your sent." The Doctor comments cheerfully, "My nose has special powers."
"Is it because..." Nancy trails off. "Do you ears have special powers too?"
"What are you trying to imply?" the Doctor asks.
"I call him Elephant." Sofia informs, "I mean with those large ears and nose, what else could I call him?"
"How about my name?"
"That's to mainstream, I'm sounding hipster..."
"Hipster?" Nancy inquires.
"Not important" Sofia assures.
"What do you want with me?"
"You seem to know what's going on." The Doctor explains.
"The not-bomb you're looking for is over there." Nancy points.
"Thanks" Sofia makes to move off.
"It's guarded by the army."
"Your point?"
"Before you go look at the not-bomb, you need to speak with the doctor." Nancy pleads.
"The Doctor?" the Doctor is intrigued.
"In the hospital over there..."
"Why do we need to see him?"
"Because after you talk to him, you won't want to visit the not-bomb anymore" Nancy explains.
"Then we ought to meet him, and judge for ourselves." Sofia comments.
The Doctor and Sophie walk along the halls of the hospital, and in each ward they see people lying on cots, all wearing gasmasks. Eventually the find a ward in which a man is sitting up in a chair, and is gasmaskless.
"You must be the Doctor!" the Doctor says.
"Dr. Constantine, yes" Dr. Constantine confirms.
"Are you practiced in medicine?" Dr. Constantine inquires.
As this exchange is going on, Sofia is leaning over one of 'patients'. She reaches out to lightly stroke its hand.
"I have my moments." The Doctor answers.
"Then examine them." Constantine orders, "But don't touch them!"
Sofia rips her hand away, a split second too late, "Why not!"
"You'll become like them."
Sophie gulps and mutters under her breath "Now he tells me!"
The Doctor is going around the room sonicing the 'patients'.
"That's impossible!" the Doc exclaims. "They all have the same injures, right down to the scar on their left hands."
Dr. Constantine looks down at his left hand in horror.
"Tell me, what would you say the cause of death was?" Dr. Constantine asks.
The Doctor lists several possibilities before giving up.
"There wasn't one." Dr. Constantine kicks a bucket and all of the 'patients' sit up right.
Sofia hardly notices this; she is preoccupied trying to figure out whether or not she touched one of them. She also hardly notices Dr. Constantine and the Doctor going on about how Nancy knows more then she says and how it was her brother, ectra. Sofia does, however, take more notice when Constantine suddenly transforms into one of the gasmask zombies.
By the time Rose and some guy rush in, and the four of them are being surrounded by the gasmask zombies, whether or not Sofia touched one of them has been placed onto her mental back burner and all but forgotten.
"Don't let them touch you!" the Doctor orders.
"What happens if they do?" Rose exclaims.
"You're looking at it!"
