Disclaimer- I don't own anything. Not a single thing. Shame, really.

"I remember. The first time you took me to our meadow. The day you turned your emotions on." I told him,

"Yes, darling. The day my life changed forever. I know what you are going through, love. You helped me, without having any reason to. You saved my life, Elena. I promise to help you through this, and anything that shall come up in the future. I will be here, with you, forever, if you'll have me." Kol said to me, wrapping his arms around me, much like I had that fateful night that we met.

"Never leave me. It is a miracle that I have you and my family back. I need a constant in my life, Kol. I want that constant to be you. No more hiding. I want you to do something for me." I told him. He looked at me curiously.

"Anything, Elena." I said, wondering what she had in mind.

"Compel me. Compel me to ingest vervain everyday, just so I don't forget. I don't want to be able to be compelled to forget ever again." I told him.

"Elena, I made you a promise to never compel you. Ever. I will personally see to it that you take vervain everyday, if you want me to, but darling, please do not make me compel you. I will never take away any choice from you." The fact that he still held his promise to me, made me forget about any insecurities that were in the back of my mind.

"I have one other thing..." I said getting up to face him.

"What would that be, darling?" He asked curiously. I took his hands in mine, and looked him straight in the eye.

"Marry me." He looked shocked for a second, but quickly recovered and started kissing me passionately. "So would that be a yes?" I asked laughing.

"Elena Gilbert, yes. I would marry you tonight if you wanted. However, I thought the asking part was supposed to be my job." He said laughing, pulling me into another kiss.

"I figured that we are anything but a normal couple. You are a thousand year old original vampire, who came back from the dead, I am an 18 year old baby vampire who killed you, after being compelled to forget you. I think that gives us the right to not go the traditional route. And I already know that I will be with you forever, so what is keeping us from making it legal?" I asked.

"Nothing, darling. Absolutely nothing. I would love nothing more than to call you my wife." He said with a renewed glow in his eyes. I heard the thunder outside. "Sorry love, my magic seems to be a bit connected to my emotions."

"Hmm. Elena Mikaelson. Has a nice ring to it." I said, hearing the thunder again.

KOL POV

"Hmm. Elena Mikaelson. Has a nice ring to it." I heard her say. As soon as the words were out of her mouth, I felt my powers surge and heard the thunder outside. I was beyond happy, and clearly my newfound magic was showing it. I felt so powerful. Honestly, I couldn't believe that Elena had asked me to marry her. I was ready to marry her at any given second, but I had been afraid she wouldn't want to just yet, seeing as she was only 18 years old. I was ecstatic. I was so in love with the baby vampire laying beside me, ever since the moment she warned me of my mother's intentions.

After Elijah took her memories of me away, I hadn't known what had happened and I certainly didn't expect it to be my own brother's doing. On the other side, I watched it all happen again and I was infuriated. How could my brother take away my happiness and more importantly, my love?

"You want to take my name?" I asked in awe, almost shocked. After everything my family had put her through…

"Yes, Kol. I want to be your wife, in every sense of the word, including taking your name." My heart soared. After a thousand years of loneliness, I would finally have a wife.

"Thank you, Elena. You have no idea what this all means to me. One question, How long shall our engagement be?" I asked curiously.

"You have connections all over the world, right?" She asked suddenly, leaving me confused.

"Of course, you know that." I responded.

"Good, so how about June 30th in Rome?" she said confidently. June 30th- that was in 2 days! I had remembered telling her that Rome was my favorite city in the world, I was amazed she remembered such a small detail.

"Are you 100% sure this is what you want, my love? If it is, I will make the calls in the morning and we can leave by noon tomorrow." I asked seriously.

"I honestly can't think of anything I have been more sure about. You never know when your time is up, even if we are immortal. This is exactly what I want." She said with a smile on her face. I was overjoyed. I would be marrying the love of my (very long) life in two days time.

"You, my love, have made me that happiest being in the world." I told her as a kissed her passionately. "Now sleep, love, for we have a busy two days ahead." By now there was a full-fledged lightning storm outside (with no rain) due to my magic. Within minutes, she had fallen asleep in my arms, and soon after, I, too, had fallen asleep.

I woke in the morning to hear Elena in the shower, just in time for her to walk out into the room. She walked over to the window and opened the drapes, letting the sunlight pour in. In a spilt-second, she began screaming. I flashed over in front of her shielding her from the light and closing the drapes. I looked down at her, whose burns were healing extra quickly.

"What happened, darling?" I asked quickly.

"My daylight ring is gone. I forgot I didn't have it yesterday because I didn't burn when you took me into the sun." I looked at her hands and realized that her daylight ring truly wasn't there. The thought running through my mind was how we got here yesterday without her burning in the sunlight. I thought about it for a minute, and remembered that yesterday on the way here, I hadn't let go of her. At all.

"Darling, I have a theory, but please do not kill me if it doesn't work." I said, praying it would work. "Come over here and hold my hand." I said, still standing in front of the window. She walked over and grabbed my hand, tensing to wait for the pain of the sun. I opened the drapes and watched as the sunlight hit her skin. Nothing happened. She looked at me, then let go of my hand for a second, and started burning. I quickly took her hand back in mine and it stopped.

"What was that?" she asked.

"Honestly have no clue, darling. I think that it may be part of the benefits of being sired by an original." I said to myself.

"Wait, what? I was sired by Damon, wasn't I?" she asked.

"Ah, contrary to popular belief, you were not. I had given a vile of my blood to that wretched doctor and had compelled her to use my blood above anyone else's, but only for you, my love, and only in the occasion that you would die otherwise. She would have used Damon's, had I not done so. So technically, darling, I am your sire." I responded. I heard her sigh. "What's wrong, love?"

"It's just such a… relief." I let out a breath I didn't know I had been holding. "But wait, why didn't I die when you did? The rest of your line died." She asked quickly. I already knew the answer.

"As soon as I died, I appeared on the other side. Knowing what I did about Originals dying, and how their entire sire line died with them, I unconsciously placed a protection spell on you. I didn't realize that it was that, that had prevented you from dying when I did, until after I realized I had my magic back. Elena, my blood will forever be running through your veins. Not only am I an original, but I am also a witch. Which means that somewhere, deep down inside, you also have magic, my magic." I said, almost as a realization in itself. I was bonded to her, unknowingly.

"Is that why it feels like this when I touch you?" She asked, gently laying her hand on my cheek, feeling the electricity rushing from my body to hers.

"Yes, my darling, I believe it is. And I do believe I just realized something." I said, shaking my head laughing.

"And what would that be?" She asked curiously, walking over to the closet to get dressed.

"My big brother isn't the only Original bloody hybrid anymore, now is he?" I said laughing. She started laughing as well.
