"You are right, love. We have our own battles back at home. We will stay for a few weeks, just to make sure things are settled here, and to let you have a little time with Caroline, then we will go home. I have this feeling we will be needed here eventually, Elena. If the witches are being controlled to the point where they cannot use their magic, I feel obligated to help." I told her. It was true, I was a witch as well.

"I guess I hadn't thought about it that way. You will be needed here, and I go where you go. So I guess we are staying for a little while, huh?" She laughed. It made me happy that she was willing to stay with me, no matter what.

"Do you wish Jeremy and Jenna to come down here with us while we are here?" I asked her but she shook her head.

"No, it's too dangerous for them to be here right now. They are safer back in Virginia, even Stefan and Damon aren't as dangerous as this, Kol." She said honestly.

"I was hoping that you would say that. We are in the middle of a war and I don't want either of them being caught in the crossfire." I told her as I hugged her tightly.

"So why does Marcel hate you so much and why do you hate him?" Elena asked curiously.

"He always hated that I ran with the witches here in the early 1900s. He felt that witches and vampires should be separated. I hated that he was in love with Rebekah and tried to turn her against us. Eventually he ended up being the reason why my father came to New Orleans and burned the city, looking for us. He then stayed and took over our city while I was being carted off in a box because it was Nik's way of 'keeping us safe'." Elena gave me that look again. "You have to remember, darling, in those days, I had a penchant for leaving trails that would easily lead Mikael directly to us." I finished, knowing it was the truth.

"Well if he still believes that witches and vampires should be separated, then he won't know what to do with you. But if he has a way to keep the witches from using magic, does that mean that he can stop you too?" Elena asked worriedly.

"No, darling. The witches here use ancestral magic, from the bones of their ancestors, which is why we met them in the cemetery. My magic comes from nature, its an inexhaustible source. Before Marcel even left, I put a cloaking spell on myself and you so that if they are tracking magic somehow, they won't be able to find us." I told her.

"I didn't realize there were different types of witches." Elena said as she sipped on a blood bag.

"There are many different types of witches, love. There's witches like Bonnie and I who use nature, then there is Ancestral magic, sacrificial magic, traveller magic- which you have in you, darling- and seers." I told her, effectively grabbing her attention.

"What do you mean I have traveller magic in me?" She asked hesitantly as I walked up to her and placed my hands on her shoulder.

"Your family is descended from a group of witches- the same that Silas and Qetsiya were from. As the legends go, Silas betrayed Qetsiya with Amara, whom she turned into the original doppleganger when she created the other side. When doing so, she turned on the witches in their group, creating the travelers, damning them so that they could never settle in one place as a group. The magic was inside you until you were turned, Elena." I told her honestly.

"You know more about my family then I do. But how could there have been magic in me and I not know it?" She asked and I tried to think of a way to explain it.

"Traveller magic is different, less powerful than my kind of magic. Over the years of your family not using it, its become watered down. In order for you to have known about it, another traveller would have had to teach you how." I told her.

"Well it doesn't matter anymore. Let's just focus on what we have to do down here." She said, sighing.

"Why don't you go take a hot bath and we will go out on the town tonight." I told her, wanting to show off my new wife to the supernatural community as well as scoping out exactly what we were dealing with.

"Care to join me?" She whispered into my ear. I pulled her towards me and kissed her passionately.

"When you put it that way..." I murmured into her hair before picking her up and vamp speeding to the bathroom. "How can I say no?" I said as I put her down and turned the water on, filling the claw foot tub quickly.

After our hour long bath, Elena and I got dressed and ready. Nik had called and told me that we were all going to a party in enemy territory. Which also happened to be my family's compound that we built by hand. When I found out that Marcel had taken it over, I had been furious.

"Please try not to kill anyone at this party, Kol." I heard Elena say from the bathroom as she fixed her hair. I chuckled before replying.

"Don't worry, darling. I won't kill anyone unless they threaten or harm you." I told her, laughing, even though I was serious.

"How do I look?" Elena asked, walking out in a stunning floor-length dark red dress.

"You look absolutely ravishing, love. No one will be able to keep their eyes off you tonight." I told her, though in the back of my mind I was thinking that if anyone looked at her, I would kill them.

Elena put a dark red tie around my neck to match her dress before tying it perfectly. I almost felt normal doing something so domestic, but then I remembered how I had killed 7 vampires this morning and was going to a party that would be filled with vampires that wanted to kill me and my family tonight.

"Do you think life will ever be normal for us, or as normal as an eternal life can be?" Elena asked. I looked down at her sadly.

"Darling, I am a thousand year old original vampire/witch who has been daggered for centuries before, been killed for real, and came back to undead life. I'm not exactly sure what normal is anymore. I promise you that I will try my best to keep things peaceful, but I've made a lot of mistakes in the past millennium, and with those mistakes come enemies. We will have to move every so often because people start to notice when we don't age, but that is why we have so many homes." I told her honestly.

"Just promise me one thing?" She asked, looking up at me sweetly.

"Anything, darling." I told her.

"A month long vacation after this mess is cleared up. And when I say vacation, I mean full European tour. Got it?" I laughed at her request and leaned down to kiss her.

"That can be arranged. Now let's go, we are supposed to be meeting Nik and Caroline in 10 minutes." I told her as she slid her hand into mine and we walked out the door.

I am sorry it's taken so long to update, I've sort of went on a hiatus for all my stories, running into major writers block. This is just sort of a filler chapter until the goodies come in the next one. I love you all, don't hate me too much!
