Everything inside of me
Parker didn't like people. She never had or likely never will. But "people" is a word that is used impersonally. You could never be attached to people. It was names that mattered. Sally, Bob, Joe... They are people. Each different, each a person. Now that is what matters. A person is specific, personal. A person has a whole detailed life. Seconds in their own narrative, playing out everyday. It was a person that Parker liked. Or more of persons. She started out that way, liking a person. She started singular, only able to like a person at a time. But it didn't matter, because he died. Her brother... She never wanted anyone close like that only to be lost. So it became people and not persons. But now, this silly little team has brought back her persons. They are her persons. Each one different and unique and hers. Nate, like a father or a crazy uncle, and yes, they were the crazy ones. Sophie, the mother or extravagant aunt that always told you to chew with your mouth shut, but was really just a softie underneath. Hardison... What was Hardison? He was her geek, her superman, her emotional crutch, her boyfriend. He made her smile when no other could. And then there was Eliot. He knew her pain, hopefully like the others never would, and he provided that sibling-like comfort she needed. He had come to fill that void well enough that she missed having a brother. It would never be the same, but it... Helped.
That is why she threw many frowns at the door of the bathroom. It has been thirty minutes since Eliot disappeared to the room, but it wasn't until a minute ago that any rustling or grunts were heard. It was just... Silent. Normally, Parker would not care, but now? Things have changed. Not completely, but enough. That and even the talking dictionary was silent. Parker threw a glance at whatshername, analyzing every move the brunette made. This made her almost unprepared for the return of the rest of her team. Limping past the kitchen, Parker stopped before she stepped down, frozen at what she saw. A handcuffed Nate and Sophie were being led through the door, the snipers right behind them. But that wasn't what made Parker freeze. It was the sight of Hardison with a gun, holding it at the back of Sophie's head, bright purple eyes glowing in wickedness.
"What's the matter? Not excited to see me?" Even his voice was wrong. Hardison would never sneer at her. His face made expressions she had never seen on his face. It made her sick.
One of the snipers, a short man with a bad attitude and a nice shiner to go with it, walked further inside as he scanned the place. By the way he limped and held his side, Eliot had worked him over good. Parker would have smirked at that, but her mind was working too quick to deal with emotions. It helped to not think about Hardison too.
"Where is he?" The other sniper that held Nate questioned with a hoarse voice, his dark eyes glinting with specks of purple. So that was the culprit behind Hardison's weird behavior. Parker narrowed her eyes at the man, shifting her weight and sending a warning glare at the brunette werewolf a few feet away. If whatshername spoke up, it gave them no time to counter the snipers' advance, no time to plan how to beat them. The werewolf surprisingly gave a wink at her as she turned to face the grumpy sniper still roaming the room. Her demeanor changed quickly and she suddenly became a fiery ball of barely contained fury.
"Yes! Just where is he? Hmm?! You told me he would be here, that all I would have to do is distract him so you could get a shot, but now where is he? I spun my tale and did my part, yet you still couldn't do yours?"
The man growled low in his throat as he turned on her.
"You better watch your tongue Lycan or you won't have one. You don't have the right to speak to me that way. We still have your sister, remember? Don't think for one second... Wait. We didn't tell you to spin any story! What are you talking about? You were to know nothing of this mission!"
Layla suddenly smirked as he fumed in confusion. This made the man growl as he realized what happened. With an unnatural speed, he grabbed her throat and lifted her off the floor, his eyes blazing an unnatural blue.
"What game are you spinning, fleabag?!" Layla held both hands on his arm, keeping just enough breathing room to survive. Her rough chuckle silenced the burly sniper's growls of frustration.
"What... Do you think... I do?"
A loud crash came from behind Hardison as the bathroom door swung open and a raging Eliot burst out, knocking into the sniper holding Nate. This spurred chaos as Hardison fell under the weight of the sniper and Eliot, the gun falling out of his hands and onto the floor. At the same time, Layla drew up her knee and kicked the grumpy sniper where the sun don't shine, while Sophie and Nate moved away from the tangle of bodies in the doorway. Parker launched herself toward the gun on the floor, her hand grabbing it at the same time as Hardison's. Looking up and into his ruthless eyes, she made her decision. The crackling of her taser as it made contact with Hardison was the only time she ever felt like that sound was horrible. Seeing his twitching body as the currents traveled through him was even worse, but Parker didn't have time for that. Picking up the gun, she turned to see Eliot struggling with the purple eyed man on the floor. The man had his hands on Eliot's throat as he tried to strangle him. Actually, it didn't look that way at all. A purple current seemed to pulse from the man's hands and travel from him to Eliot. It was like a transfer of energy and Eliot struggled against the sniper's hold, his wounds having slowed him down. The purple traveled up Eliot's neck like veins and it reached his eyes, slowly turning them purple. Parker glanced down at the still writhing Hardison and made her decision. No, this wasn't going to happen again. Parker pointed the gun at the man and fired, hitting her target on the shoulder and making him fall backwards off of Eliot. She then promptly turned towards the other sniper, but saw that Nate, Sophie, and Layla had already taken him down and had him handcuffed and unconscious. Moving over toward Eliot, Parker looked down to see large specks of purple in his eyes as he drew in shuddering breaths.
"...Parker... Cuff me... Now."
