Description: They were playing a game of matchmaker, she knew that, but as long as she ended up with her love in the end, she really couldn't care less.
AN: I'll be writing this in the style of a couple of diary entries from Gina's POV. Let me know what you think of it :-)
26th May
Dear diary,
It's been a while since I last wrote in you. Two weeks, to be precise. I suppose I've just been busy lately but now I have a lot on my mind.
I had convinced myself that you were the only one who knew the true extent of my situation- Lucas. Everyone else thinks it's just a crush but you and I know differently, don't we?
At least, I had thought that was what everyone else thought. Apparently my feelings are as open as a book because everyone seems to know (well, except him, of course!)
I guess I should tell you what happened yesterday. Our class was going on a camping trip in Grand National Park and, to my intense delight, I found myself seated next to Lucas. I must admit, this confused me slightly as Lucas would usually sit near Nick.
My suspicions arised when I saw Nick, Toby and Jessica talking together. It was pretty clear they were talking about Lucas and I because they kept glancing in our direction. I started to feel as though they had deliberately put Lucas and I together.
I found myself in a group with my friends and we set up camp in a clearing surrounded by tall pine trees, the lake approximately a mile or two to the east. Or rather, Lucas and I set up whilst the others went to collect water and firewood. (Nick and Toby) and listen to our teacher's instructions (Jessica) as we would be doing several tasks on this trip, including an orienteering expedition.
I started trying to pitch the smaller of the two tents but, having never camped in my life, I struggled and ended up with the tent-ropes in a tangle.
Suddenly I saw an outstretched hand. Lucas was stood in front of me, looking concerned. "Need some help?" I gratefully took his hand and nodded as he pulled me to my feet, too shy to speak.
He started to explain how to pitch tents properly and I found myself only half-listening, mesmerized by his voice. He then asked if I understood what he had said and gestured to the unerected tent. I moved forward, determined to impress him and started to pitch the tent, surprising myself when I was with my efforts, I hugged him tightly and, to my utter astonishment, he hugged me back! I smiled onto his shoulder and resisted the urge to cry with were still hugging when the others returned from their tasks. Upon spotting that they were back, he let go of me, though he seemed disappointed about having to do so.
Not for the first time that day, I found myself wondering if they had purposely left the two of us alone together. I wasn't sure how I should feel if they had. That night, we were sat around the campfire, keeping warm and toasting marshmallows. All of a sudden, there was a huge (and I mean huge) clap of thunder. I would just like to point out that I suffer from severe astraphobia so, naturally, I was terrified. So terrified, in fact, that I grabbed the nearest person to me and clung to them whilst whimpering. The sound of ill-disguised giggling alerted me to who I had been holding onto. Apologizing quickly, I let go of him and then shot a glare at the others. To my annoyance, they all shot me identical knowing grins. Who knows what they're planning? Perhaps I should ask them at some point. Or am I thinking too much?
Until the next time!

2nd June
Dear diary,
Well, I managed to corner them eventually and asked what they meant by laughing at me. Jessica pointed out that everything I did around Lucas amused everyone, not just them. I then proceeded to question what they thought they were doing, in regards to the whole camping trip. Needless to say, they denied purposefully leaving Lucas and I alone together. However I noticed that none of them, not even Jessica, could quite look me in the eye when they said that.
I really don't know what they're up to, but I'm telling you one thing- I will find out!
See you later!

5th June
Oh my gosh, I can't believe it! Oh, you'll never guess what happened today! Lucas finally asked me on a date! (and yes, I am happily squealing right now.)
It happened completely out of the blue. We were in Biology and Lucas was talking about two tickets he had for Disco Beats, my favorite band of all time. (AN: I honestly don't know if this is a real band name or not but it's supposed to be made up ;-)) All of a sudden, he asked me if I wanted to see them with can imagine how I reacted. I stared at him, gobsmacked, before screaming, "Yes!" Everyone in the room turned and stared at me, and the teacher glared in my direction before resuming their lecture. I couldn't have cared less, though, because I finally had what I had longed for.
When the bell rang, I left the classroom and heard a very interesting conversation. I'll write it below as best as I can remember.
Toby: Can you believe it?
Nick: It actually worked!
Jessica: Well, I told you the plan would work if we kept it up long enough.
At this point, I interrupted and, quite rightly (in my opinion), demanded to know the truth about what was going all looked at me, stunned, before they all started talking at once. It suddenly hit me. "You guys have been playing matchmaker this past week, haven't you?" I grinned as their sheepish looks only confirmed my epiphany.
"Thank you!" I said, overcome with emotion. I had been so inwardly mad at them and, all this time, they had been helping get Lucas and I together. "You guys are the best friends I could have!"
I suppose I should make it up to them at some point, but right now I have a date to prepare for!
I guess I'll write later with all the details!
Gina
AN: I thought it would be a good idea to write about what would happen if Jessica, Nick and Toby got fed up of Gina's crush on Lucas going unnoticed and decided to help out by playing matchmaker. Hope you all enjoyed the chapter!
AN: (19/07/2015)Sorry about the strange text. Up until today, I had no idea this had happened.
