Description: She didn't know him at all, yet something in her heart told her she could trust him.
AN: This is based loosely on the scene from James Cameron's Titanic where Jack and Rose meet for the first time. In this, Lucas and Gina have never met before (they're aged about 17 in this) and Gina is new to Venture Falls. Okay, enough of the explanation – on with the chapter! It'll probably be a short one but we'll see!
She sat on the edge of a cliff, overlooking the forest. She and her parents had arrived in Venture Falls two days ago and she had never felt lonelier, something she made clear in her diary entries. Being the new girl meant that nobody was brave enough to try and befriend her, and vice versa.
It didn't help that her parents had been working on an almost constant basis ever since they arrived. Okay, so she was seventeen years old and craved independence, but she also didn't want to feel alone all the time.
Sighing, she stood up, packed up her diary and turned to leave when, suddenly, a voice called out, "Be careful!" Startled, Gina staggered back and her foot caught on a loose stone. She screamed as she fell from the cliff and started to contemplate what would happen when she hit the ground, which seemed to be getting ever closer.
It never happened, however. A hand shot out of nowhere and grabbed her arm, halting her fall. Gina looked up at her saviour and saw a handsome boy about her age with dark hair and forest-green eyes. He smiled at her and said, "You're alright now. Just trust me."
She looked at him incredulously before allowing him to pull her up to safety and when she reached the top, he said apologetically, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to startle you,...?"
"Gina." She informed him. "Gina Louren." She dusted herself off and picked up her bag. "And it was my fault in the first place – I should have known better than to sit so close to the edge but I was just admiring the view of the forest."
He smiled in a friendly way. "Well, as long as you're alright, Gina." He said, and he turned to leave, waving goodbye at the same time.
"W-Wait!" She protested. "You haven't told me your name!"
He turned around briefly and said, "It's Lucas."
The Next Day
Dear diary,
You remember yesterday how I nearly lost my life. It was a terrifying experience and not one I'd like to repeat in a hurry, but it allowed me to meet someone new – Lucas.
I never thought I could feel this way about a guy, not since I had broken things off with Mark after I found out he'd been cheating on me with my ex best friend. One look into his eyes, however, and I fell...hard.
When he told me to trust him, my head was screaming at me not to be stupid – no guy can be trusted, handsome or not. My heart, however, told me I could trust him with all my being and everything I am.
I knew I was in too deep when he grabbed my arm and I felt sparks shooting all the way through my body. I hadn't felt like that in such a long time and I hadn't wanted to...
Now... everything has changed. I can move on from my past and focus on me and my future. Something tells me that my future is with him – I have to trust my heart because I've fallen for him.
I've fallen in love with Lucas Wanson.
Gina.
AN: Well, I hope you enjoyed this chapter. I always think that Gina's love for Lucas is a love-at-first-sight thing :-)
