Description: She thought she was spending another Valentine's Day alone. Little did she know, he was not going to let that happen.

Gina sighed hopelessly. The head of the school had just announced that there would be a Valentine's disco that night. She felt a pair of hands grab her excitedly.

"This will be so amazing!" Her best friend Jessica gushed, blue eyes sparkling. "Which outfit should I wear? Should I wear the heels or the - Gina, are you okay?"

The girl let out another heavy sigh. "How can I be excited when this is just another Valentine's Day I'm gonna end up spending alone?"

Jessica gave her a knowing smile. "I know you don't want to go to the disco with anyone but him. Trust me, Gina, this year will be different."

A few rows back, Toby, Nick and Lucas were also discussing the event. "A disco, huh?" Toby said. "Sounds fun!"

"Yeah." Nick agreed. "It'll give us a chance to relax after our latest mission in Gorm. What do you think, Lucas?"

The boy nodded distractedly. "Sure." He said. It was obvious that something was on his mind. "Can I ask you guys something?"

"What is it?" The brothers chorused. Lucas glanced momentarily at Gina who, for some reason, looked miserable.

"I-I want to ask someone to the disco but I don't know how." He confessed.

"Well, who do you want to ask?" Nick inquired curiously.

Lucas motioned for his friends to move closer and then whispered so only they could hear, "Gina."

"Ha!" Toby yelled loudly as they were dismissed. "I knew it! I knew you liked her!"

Jessica joined them outside. "What do you know?" She asked Toby, who scratched the back of his head awkwardly.

"That Lucas has a crush on Gina." He replied, grinning. "He wants to ask her to the disco."

"R - Really?" Jessica squeaked. If Toby was right, it was great news for Gina.

"Yeah, but he doesn't have a clue how to do it." Nick chimed in.

Jessica grinned at the brothers and said, "Well, boys, in that case, I guess we'll just have to help him then!"

Later on, after Lucas had been given varying degrees of advice from his friends, he nervously approached Gina who was sitting alone beneath a beech tree.

"Hey, Gina." He greeted and the girl looked up in surprise, a blush on her cheeks.

"H-Hi, Lucas." She stuttered, unable to hide her crush on him. "Do you need something?"

He smiled inwardly. That blush looks so cute! He thought to himself. "Yeah. I-I wanted to know - well, I thought I'd ask..." He sighed and looked her directly in the eyes. "Will you be my date to the Valentine's disco?"

At first, Gina thought she had misheard him. She could have sworn she heard him ask her out, but that was impossible, right? After all, it would mean that what she had wished for all her life was finally coming true.

Upon looking at him, though, she saw his earnest expression and knew that he wasn't joking. A smile formed on her face and she practically screamed, "Yes!" This caused Lucas to smile too and, out of instinct, she hugged him before they moved apart. They were both blushing furiously and couldn't keep eye contact with one another.

"Meet you at Toby and Nick's at 6?" Gina nodded, a giddy smile still on her face as Lucas left.

When she was walking home later on, she met Jessica who immediately noticed the change in her friend's attitude. "You seem like you have some good news!"

"You'll never believe it - Lucas asked me to the disco!" Gina yelled excitedly. "This is the best day of my life!"

Jessica, of course, had already known that Lucas was going to ask Gina to the disco. However Gina didn't know that so she put on a surprised expression and said, "Wow, that's great! I'm so happy for you!" She then added as an afterthought, "I can do your hair for you if you want," and both girls hi-fived whilst giggling before heading to Jessica's house to get ready.

A couple of hours later, Lucas was at Nick and Toby's house. They were waiting for the girls to arrive so they could go to the disco together. Suddenly there was a knock at the door.

"I'll get it!" Toby called out, as he was nearest to the door. He walked into the hallway and opened the door. "Well, you two ladies look very lovely!" He complimented.

"Thanks, Toby!" They said together.

He grinned and then added in a conspiratorial undertone, "Lucas is so nervous that he's been pacing the living room every two minutes since he got here!"

"Really?" Gina asked.

"Yeah!" Toby replied. "At one point, Nick and I were considering tying him to the sofa until you guys got here. Anyway I think we've held him in suspense long enough." He held open the living room door. "After you." Both girls entered the living room and there was an awed gasp.

"You look amazing!" Lucas breathed, walking towards Gina. She was wearing a green camisole top with black leggings and matching green pumps. Jessica had curled her hair for her and green butterfly clips held her fringe away from her face.

"So do you." She responded, a wide smile on her face. He had chosen a dark green shirt with dark blue jeans and green trainers. He smiled in response and took her hand.

"Well, kids, are you ready to go?" Mr Tripp called and they all left the house and got in the car.

When they arrived, Lucas and Gina went to the dance floor, Nick went to chat to some girls, Toby disappeared completely and Jessica went to get a drink.

As they began to dance, Lucas said, "I wanted to ask you out for a while, you know? I just didn't know how to do it."

Gina blushed. "I've been waiting years for a day as happy as this."

Lucas suddenly cupped her face in his hands. "I don't know how to say this. Gina, I-I love you." He watched with alarm as her dark eyes filled with tears. "Please don't cry! I didn't want to upset you!"

"Y-You haven't." Gina sobbed, smiling through her tears. "I'm crying because I'm just so happy! I love you too!"

Lucas did not hesitate and kissed her tenderly. It was the moment Gina had always waited for and she would never forget it.

When they broke apart, Lucas asked, "Will you be my girlfriend?" Gina nodded, too overcome with emotion to speak. However she did have a huge smile on her face so he asked, "What is it?"

"I think Valentine's Day just became my favourite holiday." She replied.
