So this is an alternate story/continuation of Strange Magic. I don't exactly have permission to do so, but I did e-mail the author have not gotten a reply back. SO in order to satisfy the author (and critics) I've decided this: IF THE AUTHOR OF STRANGE MAGIC DOES NOT WANT ME TO POST OR CONTINUE TO POST THIS ALTERNATE VERSION OF THEIR STORY PM ME AND I PROMISE TO TAKE IT DOWN. I don't want to be accused of plagiarism, but I also want to get this story out my head. I've messed around some with first 7 chapters that ARE NOT mine just a tinge.
If like it please read, if you don't...well you know where the back button is.
Dinner, a Talk, and and a possible escape
Dinner sucked.
His father continued to act as if nothing was wrong despite the the tension in the air. Cedric sat to his left per his father's request glancing at him every so often. His mother had a worried look in her face. Hermione and Sirius both bored holes into Harry's head as if staring hard enough would let them know where he had been the past few hours. And Harry himself was ready to explode.
But the elven prince couldn't help but feel a little smug and grateful to Draco. Sneaking around had become a bit of a breeze with Neville around. And he had become capable of shaking his "hired" stalkers off. But he knew better than to be cocky. Draco had warned him of that. Always be aware.
"Cedric stop it" The prince hissed in a whisper. Cedric had gripped his thigh. However instead of heeding the warning he slid his hand higher up his thigh. Harry smacked it away and sighed while refusing to eat.
'Whatever happened to his trusted childhood friend'
Of course, Draco had a theory that he was never his friend to start with. A man behind a mask hoping his trust would become the foundation of love he wanted so he could make Harry his. Draco also gagged after he said. Not that Harry could blame him he too gagged. He only saw Cedric as a close friend. A brother even...well he use to.
Harry sighed. This really did suck. He wanted to be with Draco right now. Talking, teasing. fighting. It felt right, like a breathe of fresh air, to be near Draco. He had just seen him a little while ago, but he missed him already.
Unknowingly, Harry sighed out loud.
"Harry what's wrong?" The prince froze when all eyes landed on him. He wasn't even sure who had asked him. Harry's eyes landed on his mother's worried ones.
"Nothing, Just a little tired" He responded giving his mother a small smile. He loved his mother and no one seemed to understand his want to leave the castle more than she did. Of course , it may have had something to with her also being trapped within these stone walls along with him. His mother was notorious for alluding James elite guards without a trace.
"Why don't you go to bed sweetie? In fact, I'll go with you"
The queen gracefully left her seat giving her husband a quick peck on the cheek.
"I love you" she whispered before ushering her son to the grand white and gold double doors.
Harry had gotten the message that his mother was sending and did not waste time leaving his seat. The more space between him and Cedric, the better. But he couldn't resist leaving without a tiny bit a of revenge. Cedric was being plain awful and a flu potion should keep him away from him for a good week. He slipped the potion -courtesy of Draco- into Cedric's soup after discreetly giving the male a kick to his shin and earning himself a cold glare.
The young elven prince left with a sense of satisfaction.
His mother guided Harry to a familiar path which lead to his mother's lily garden. Rumor was his father gave it to his mother as a wedding gift. It was heavily protected and scarcely known among the staff in the castle. Harry knew whatever his mother wanted to talk about it had to be serious.
She pulled him until they were seated near the edge of a small pond covered in water lilies.
Both royal elves sat quietly for a moment admiring the beauty of the area around them. It was a beauty nurtured by Neville.
"Harry love I know how stubborn your father can be and I understand why he is doing what he is, but dear let me tell you this now I in no way agree with it" declared the beautiful queen breaking the silence.
Harry blinked surprised. His mother was a straightforward elf. "You don't"
"Of course not! At first I thought you would be happy with Cedric. He's your childhood friend and one of the most eligible elves in the kingdom. But I've seen what's been going on especially with Cedric and I do not approve one bit!"
Harry looked into the mirror image of his own eyes and felt such a rush of relief that he had no choice, but to hug his mother. His mother wasted no time returning it.
"Now don't think that gets you out of trouble young man! I know you've been sneaking out of these castle walls" Harry froze.
"What!"
Harry sucked at lying to his mother. She always knew! The prince turned his head away afraid his eyes would give him away.
His mother smirked. "Love I know you and I'm your mother. The queen notorious for shaking your father's elite guards. Where do you think you get that from? The stubbornness is all your father, but the cunning and cleverness is entirely me"
Harry grinned. "I suppose"
"Now what is most important Harry is that you know that I'm in your corner"
"Wh-what?" Harry asked confused.
"I'm in your corner" the queen reaffirmed "I-..." Harry watched his mother, the Queen of Greenwood, become his mother, Lily, as she sighed heavily and rubbed her temple.
"Harry you are...special...different. I...somehow no matter how hard your father and I try to trap you here I feel that one day you will leave. One day...you will explore the world around us"
"Mo-"
"Let me finish Harry!" Harry's mouth snapped closed. "...I know Voldermort will make a move and that a war maybe imminent. Your father may think he can keep that from me, but I am born into the crown it is my responsibility to know." Harry listened closely "And when this day comes no matter what happens I will always love dearheart." Harry blushed happy to hear his mother sweet words. He nuzzled up to her attempting to comfort her as she strained to express her troubled thoughts.
"I want you to explore the world, fall in love, enjoy your youth. You...and Neville as well. You both deserve more and I know how infuriating this whole situation can be, however I can bear it better because I am trapped with the man I love. You are still looking and if Cedric is not it than I want you find him. Do you understand Harry?"
Finally his mother looked him in the eye. The elfing's heart froze as he saw his mother's watering eyes "Whenever you decide its time to go. Know that this is my goodbye. Write me when you can. Neville should be able to safely send them to me. And be safe and the moment you find your mate tell me okay?" Harry nodded speechless" An-and...don't worry about your father. He's just a worry wart."
His mother laughed brokenly.
Harry hugged her tightly hiding conflict his conflicted from her face.
It had been three days.
Three days since his mothers "goodbye" and Harry's mind was muddled. His mother was on his side? She disapproved of Cedric and she was okay with it? Did she see Harry's escape from his home coming? Was his mother, the queen of Greenwood, ok-ing him to run away? Would he run away? With Neville?...With Draco?
The young prince had no clue what to do so he spilled everything to Neville. The great thing about talking to Neville was it helped organize his thoughts. He listened without a word; with out any judgement and gave another perspective on the issue silently. Harry thought Neville would make a great royal adviser.
The two young elves were crushing Looma beets while watching Draco's potion as said vampire slept peacefully.
"Imagine if we really did leave" Neville whispered in wonder. Harry joined the shy elf in that fantasy. In their mind, it would be an adventure at every turn, a new discovery to see, and according to Hermione's fictional stories romance on the horizon. Obviously, it wouldn't be all roses and rainbows. They would argue, all of them, but that just added to the adventure. Harry sighed whimsically.
"Why not go?" asked Neville.
"Why! My kingdom! My people! My mother Neville!"
"You've never seen your kingdom or people! Wouldn't you like to? countered Neville "Cedric is being a jerk, your father is being unreasonable, and your mother totally supports this."
"Nev-"
"I want to see what Draco talks about" Neville suddenly cried. Harry was surprised by the fearsome glare directed at him. Neville looked different...more mature maybe. "No one wants me here...No one even notices that I am here. I am a charity case in most peoples eyes if they see me and I appreciate everything you mother has done for me Harry, but I want more than the castle walls offer me...and you."
Harry was silent still a little rattled at Neville's assertiveness.
"Draco plans to leave too." That froze the young prince. He looked toward the sleeping blonde and felt as if his insides were choking.
Draco...leave
"I don't have all the ingredients for someone dealing heavily into potions like Draco and he seems excited to learn more. He can't stay here forever Harry." Neville ended softly.
Harry felt a horribly overwhelming wave of aching wash over him. The elflen felt sick at the very thought of Draco leaving. Leaving Greenwood. Leaving him.
What would he do if...when the vampire left? Life had just become bearable because of the blond. He had somthi- someone to look forward to. Harry's heartbeat sped up. He didn't want Draco to leave. Not without him!
A hoarse sleep laden voice cut through Harry's panicking "How's my potion Neville?"
Neville bit his lip and glanced at the potion. It had not change color like the vampire said it would. It was still mucky and brown.
"It has not turned yet" the brunette replied.
Draco grunted, but instead of going back to sleep, he moved forward to analyze his potion critically.
"Now which one of you want to tell me why Harry is so distressed" Both elves froze. There was something ominous about the way the older male said that that made Harry's insides curl.
Neville glanced between the tall vampire and Harry's blushing face before deciding it was best to leave the two to their own devices.
"I'll see you later" Neville hugged the young prince apologetically. He hadn't meant to distress his best friend.
Harry squeezed him to show he forgave him. Neville left with a heavy mind, but a lighter heart.
The shy elf's footsteps faded in a crunching sound. Soon only the tiny creatures of the night and the wind filled the silence.
The elven prince refused to look up. He was nervous and ashamed at getting caught up in his mess of emotions.
Draco looked at Harry expectantly. He did not like when the elfling was distressed and he had sensed it seconds before he hadf awaken. It bothered Draco greatly and caused a boiling anger, like lava, to pool in his stomach making him see red. Because of this Draco made it his mission to find out what bothered the elflin.
"Harry!" called the impatient vampire. After five minutes went by, the young prince mumbled something unintelligibly that even Draco's sharp hearing could not hear so he demanded he repeated himself. Harry flinched, but continued to mumble.
Annoyed the vampire, walked over to the elfling, grabbed his masked chin and forced the prince to look at him. Instinctively, Draco wanted to glare at the little prince. However when Harry's striking green orbs clashed with his stormy grey he shared a shocked look with an equally shocked prince.
There was hardly any way to explain it. A shock that ran through both heirs in a millisecond so strong Harry's knees went weak and Draco arm quivered from the force of the shock. But it was gone instantaneously leaving both heirs feeling as if the air had been knocked out of them.
"What was that?" Harry asked breaking the stunned silence. His heart was palpating as if it wanted to jump out of his chest.
"I-I'm not sure" stuttered the older ex-prince. Harry was sure that was the first time he had ever heard the older creature do that.
Miles away
"Are we there yet?" whined a shrill and annoyingly high pitched voice for the nth time.
Wormtail groaned. God this woman was annoying. No wonder that prince faced death than be betroth to this horrid girl.
Naturally Wormtail did not say this out loud opting to just respond negatively and continue walking through the swamps. Wormtail knew better than to mess with the Dark Lord's daughter. One insult and she raged like the pug face dog she was with a particularly vicious streak.
Wormtail sighed. Just a few more days and he would part from this vile cretin.
Both paused for a moment trying to catch their breathe noting belatedly that they both felt as if they had run a marathon. It took a whole five minutes before both came back to their senses. Draco somehow went from pinching Harry's chin to cupping his round cheek and Harry subconsciously leaned in to hand seeking comfort.
If Harry could purr he was sure he would. The older males hand was big and warm. He could even feel blood pumping through his very fingertips which was strange to the elfling since he had heard that vampires were bloodless creatures. Albiet, he had also heard they were bloodless violent hell bound demons. Regardless, the fact that even vampires being bloodless was not true sparked an anger in the young prince. He was so ignorant of the world, of the creatures and people in it. How was he to run a kingdom, to guide his people, to help those not even native to Greenwood if he was so ignorant of everything? It felt so frustrating and that frustration glared through his green eyes and caught Draco.
The ex-prince inwardly gasped from the fire spitting from Harry's green eyes. He opened his mouth to inquiry what was wrong, but Harry save him the trouble.
"You plan to leave Greenwood" Draco knew it wasn't a question. Only a statement of fact. He felt guilty but what was he to do. The closer he got to Harry the worse whatever this was was going to get. And he had a horrible sinking feeling of the what this was.
"I don't care...even if you plan to leave without me" Draco had to swallow his guilt hard." Please let me go with you"
Draco was left dumbstruck in the face of Harry's pleading green orbs.
'He is brilliant' part of him couldn't help thinking. He shook his head and trying to focus his thoughts but the way Harry's eyes pleading looked at the vampire told him no matter what the reason was for his sudden request he was going to oblige the royal elf.
Draco sighed. "And when have I ever been able to deny you your request so far Harry"
At first Harry looked suprised and then happy. Draco staggered a little as he was glomped by the prince.
He relished scent of Harry. He felt his thin, but toning (due to sword practice) arms around his neck, the strong pulse of blood through his ve-...
