Description: Their relationship was full of ups and downs just like a zigzag.

When they first met, Jessica and Toby got on quite well. They were both optimistic, energetic and competitive. However they were also both stubborn as well as argumentative, which was often the cause of their many arguments. They were seldom serious - and the few times they had been, it hadn't been long before they made up.

Though neither of them would ever admit it, they had admired each other for a while. Toby liked how Jessica never gave up on a situation and how she would throw herself into the action, rather than act as a damsel in distress. Meanwhile Jessica liked that Toby always stayed positive (to her, it always seemed like nothing could get him down) and would do, literally, anything for his friends.

Becoming the Lords of Nature was the pivotal turning point in their relationship. On Earth, they continued to argue and bicker as usual, but in Gorm, they acted differently - like they really cared about one another. One such example was when Toby saved Jessica from the giant rampaging Bombos. As they stood looking into each other's eyes, her hands on his shoulders and his on her waist, it seemed like they had both momentarily forgotten the destruction going on around them. Jessica had thought in that moment: I can't believe he saved me, even though he must be exhausted because of his lack of sleep. Wait, does this mean he likes me... or was he just saving me because we're friends? Hang on, I don't like him like that... do I? Oh no, I'm so confused...

It wouldn't be until the Curse of the Dome nearly reduced the Lords of Nature to three that Toby and Jessica finally realized how strongly they felt about each other. Standing on either side of the dome, their hands pressed together against the magically - resistant material, they once again ended up lost in each other's eyes.

Losing their mentor, Supreme Luminos, the Lord of Light, seemed to bring them even closer together. They still argued, sure, but not nearly as frequently. Anyone around them could see how they had changed - it was obvious they were in love. Unlike before, it didn't even seem like they were trying to hide it. Previously they had been rivals on Earth and partners in Gorm, protecting each other no matter what the cost. This time, they were protective towards each other, no matter where they were.

Through the journey of trying to recover their stolen orbs, Toby and Jessica learnt more about each other than they ever thought they would. Jessica discovered that Toby was compassionate, understanding and protective, especially towards her. Toby, on the other hand, saw that Jessica was courageous, kind - hearted and loyal. It didn't take them long to confess their feelings and they both knew they didn't want to go back.

They grew closer on their missions, separated from the others. Alone, they could express their feelings but in a group, they always felt like they had to hide how they felt. They never could resist small caring gestures, though - glancing at one other or placing their hands on the other's shoulder.

Time went by and their relationship went from strength to strength. Life threw every obstacle it could at them in the form of competition, but not even death could keep them apart. Nick once joked that they didn't need to get married because they acted like they already were. They did, however, knowing full well that they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together.

That was one of the happiest days of their lives. The other was the day their daughter Victoria was born. She resembled her father oh so much, yet there was a lot of her mother in her too. Growing up, it was easy to see she had inherited personality traits from both Toby and Jessica. She was smart, impulsive, very stubborn, loyal, courageous and would have an inability to ask for help when she needed it most.

Toby and Jessica also took in their niece Erin two years after Tori's birth and raised her as their own daughter. They trained both girls for the roles they would eventually have to assume. Sometimes Toby would be harder on Tori because he didn't want her to make the same mistakes he had. Tori and Erin were taught to learn from their experiences just as Supreme Luminos had once taught Toby and Jessica as well as Lucas and Nick.

Life seemed to be going well for the family. The threat of Obscurio's heir seemed to be null and void until he met and befriended Tori. Toby absolutely refused to trust Ryan but Jessica believed that he was not truly evil. Over time, she observed that her daughter was beginning to fall in love with him and him with her.

However, just as Toby was finally beginning to accept Ryan as one of them, the latter unintentionally led the former into a trap set by his father, Obscurio. Both Tori and Ryan tried to protest Ryan's innocence but Toby's mind had been made up. Ryan was exiled and Tori ran away to find him.

Jessica didn't know how two people could be so stubborn. Toby and Tori were more alike than they realised. Neither of them were willing to admit that they were wrong. Personally she thought that exiling Ryan was the wrong decision, not just because she believed he truly was innocent but also because she knew it would push their daughter away. Yes, Tori was her father's daughter, alright - impulsive and argumentative...

At the battle, Jessica saved Toby, reminding him of their vow to always go through everything together. They fought side by side taking out Lava Gormiti like pins at a bowling alley. When Tori and Ryan arrived to stop the fighting, Toby finally realised that all they wanted was peace and that Ryan truly did love Tori.

After the events of that day, Ryan was officially welcomed into the family and was treated like a long-lost son. He got along well with them all, teasing Erin along with Tori - all in good fun, of course.

One day, Tori made a discovery. Erin was not her biological sister as she had always been raised to believe. She begged her parents to tell Erin the truth, arguing that Erin's reaction would be worse than hers. However Toby and Jessica responded that keeping her in the dark was the best thing to do as her mother Lorraine didn't want to be her parent because of her past.

Tori reluctantly agreed but warned them that the truth would reveal itself one day. They knew that she was right - actions always had a way of coming back to haunt a person.

Despite everything they had been through, their lives like a zigzag, their relationship was as strong as ever. Toby and Jessica had no intention of ever abandoning each other or their family. They were meant to be together - air and water - and that was how they would stay... forever.
