Sakura's POV:
"We're here, boys," I said as Zabuza-san parked the car in front of the school gate.
I turned to the three little cuties at the back and saw that the twins were still glaring at each other. Little Sai was jumpy in the middle. I sweat-dropped at the sight. "Alright, alright. . . Let's go," I said as Zabuza-san opened the door for me and my brothers.
I stepped out into the almost-empty gateway with my brothers following after. I first turned to Zabuza-san who gave me an expectant look. "Are you going to be fine, Sakura-sama?" he asked with a tone of concern. I just smiled and nodded. "I'll be fine, Zabusa-san. Thank you for worrying," I said to him. He hummed and decided not to speak any further but his eyes trailed over to my quarreling brothers. I smiled sheepishly before bidding him a "Goodbye." He bowed his head quickly before going back to the driver's seat and driving the car away. Instead of walking right in through the school's gates, I watched the car drive out of my sight.
Then, with a tired sigh, I faced my brothers. They've started vocalizing their argument and some words were not exactly appropriate for little children. I felt enraged that they'd have the nerve of saying such vulgar insults in front of me and little Sai. So, I bent down beside them and gave them my best 'Stop It Right Now Or Else' glare. They saw it and instantly stiffened, sweating bullets.
I sighed. I patted both of their heads and said, "Good. Now, please stop insulting each other, okay? Because, nee-chan doesn't like it when you're fighting." At first, they didn't respond to me because they shared a meaningful look at each other. I raised an eyebrow at this but before I could say anything, the twins jumped to me while shouting, "We're sorry, Sakura nee-chan! We're sorry!" I almost fell on my back from their hug.
I huffed, a little amused at their antics. "Sasu-chan, Naru-chan! Be careful!" I scolded them for a short while and after that, we were walking towards their classrooms. With Naruto and little Sai holding on to my hands and Sasuke coolly walking in front, we reached the elementary building.
Once inside, we headed for the twins' classroom. When we reached the door of it, I could hear girly voices from inside and instantly knew that the boys' fangirls are here today.
The boys are still a hot item, eh? Well, can't be helped since they took after kaa-san and to-san! Fufu!
I chuckled at Inner's prideful comment. I looked down at the twins and saw that they were slightly pale and sweating. I tried to resist the urge to laugh at their faces. It was so funny! I mean it. Even Inner's trying to stifle her laughs in my head.
"Are you guys ready to go in?" I teased them. Their heads whipped in my direction before a horrified look overcame them. This time, I cracked up together with little Sai. From inside, I could hear a faint, "Kyaa! Maybe it's Naruto-kun and Sasuke-kun!" And suddenly, the door burst open and there appeared heart-eyed fangirls.
I probably wouldn't remember what happened after that. I was so sure that my brothers were still looking pale and horrified beside me when suddenly they were gone. When I looked at the previously open and fangirl-ful door, I found that it was closed and the twins' were shouting for injustice.
F-fangirl power. . . It is to be feared.
I sweat-dropped, agreeing. I decided not to underestimate fangirls ever again. Standing a little behind me, Sai was clutching at my pant leg and when I looked down at him, he was shaking.
Th-that was slightly traumatic. . . No wonder Sasuke and Naruto run from every squealing fangirl. . .
Y-yeah. . .
"L-Let's go, Sai-chan? Before the fangirls decide that they want to take you, too," I hurriedly said. Sai nodded his head fiercely. Immediately, we went to his class. Only when we were both assured that we were far from the twins' classroom did we calm down.
When we reached his classroom, there weren't anyone inside yet. So, like always, I stayed with Sai to keep him company. He brought Sanbi today, too, so we played to pass time.
"Rooaarr!" I tried to sound fierce and curled my fingers into claws as I walked slowly toward Sai, who was happily clutching his Sanbi. He raised the plush toy like a shield and made a childish growling sound. I acted like I was affected by the (seriously cute) growl and Sai took it as a chance to run to the other corner of the room. I followed after him, and successfully caught him. The moment he was right in my arms, he giggled so cutely and loudly that I had to laugh, too.
All the while, Inner was silent in my head. But I knew she was having as much fun as I was with playing with little Sai. Unexpectedly, Sai pushed Sanbi to my face which made me let him go and fall to the floor in surprise. Again, little Sai ran to the opposite corner of the room, giggling as he did. "I'm going to get you," I taunted playfully, making 'kuku' sounds, before running after him in my slowest pace.
A few minutes later though, the usual girl came and the both of us stopped running around and making a mess of things. I turned to the girl and smiled. She blushed for some reason and looked down. I just raised my eyebrow. I shared a look with Sai before bending in front of him. Patting his head, I said in my practiced male voice, "I'm going now. Have fun, okay?" Little Sai nodded enthusiastically.
I stood up, satisfied with his response. Then, I turned to the girl, taking my bag from a table as I did so. When I was standing in front of her, I told her with a small smile, "Keep my brother company today, too, okay?" She nodded after peeking at Sai for moment. I chuckled and patted her head gently.
I walked out of the room with a wave. The halls were still quiet as I walked through. With the hand holding my bag over my shoulder, I headed to the library where I'm sure the hostclub members would be expecting me.
I reached the library doors in record time and the moment I touched the door, it opened without me having to push it back. Behind the door, the person responsible for opening it was one of the butlers. He bowed his head respectfully as I walked in. I nodded my head in response to his and immediately went to my spot on the second floor.
I took a book and went to read on a chair. The butlers didn't bother me and stayed attentive for other students. It took a while but the hostclub members arrived, loud and mouthy in the silent and peaceful library. I didn't have to look over the railing to see that they were heading up the stairs to this floor.
When they reached my spot, it was Tamaki who spoke first. "Good morning, Haruno-san," he said politely. I placed my book on my lap to look at them and gave Tamaki a mute nod of my head, a slightly amused smile on my face as I noticed that they were a little tense. Just a little.
"Good morning, Tamaki-san. And to the whole hostclub," I replied politely. The twins grinned and waved in great synchronicity, Haruhi waved naturally, and the third year, Mitsukuni, waved with flowery, sparkling enthusiasm. The two aloof members, namely Kyoya and Mori, just nodded their heads.
I stood up, taking the book I was reading from its perch on the table to put it back in its previous place between books. "Are you ready to be a part of the hostclub, Haruno-san?" I heard Tamaki ask. After replacing the book back in the shelf, I sighed and nodded. Immediately, Kyoya and Tamaki filled me in on what I was supposed to do.
"Since you're pretty much popular with the ladies already here at Ouran, I'm sure that you will have a lot of customers. First thing's first, though, and we should think about what your personality as a host would be," Kyoya explained while we all walked toward the III Music Room. I raised my eyebrow at the personality part.
"What do you mean?" I asked them with a confused expression. It was Tamaki's turn to speak. He said, "Each member of the hostclub has a different peronality. . . or aura, as we prefer to call it. For example, me! I'm the princely host, noble and handsome, gentlemanly and a ladies' man!" As he continued on praising himself, completely forgetting that he was supposed to answer my question, Kyoya decided that he would answer the question himself.
With a push of his glasses which glinted ominously at the act, Kyoya said, "Just as the idiot sparkling on his own over there said, all members of our club have specific roles to play as we entertain our customers. I have the cool and intelligent personality. The twins are the Devilish Duo who mostly play the role of forbidden love between brothers, which I'm oddly proud to say is quite a hit with our customers. And Haruhi is the natural type as you can see." As he explained the others' types, I glanced at them.
"Do you understand, Haruno-san?" Kyoya finished. I nodded. "Most of it, at least. But why is it necessary for me to have my own kind of type or personality? Can't I just try out your own roles and see if I'm good with it?" I asked. At my question, all of them stopped and stared at me then shared a secret look. I tilted my head a little in curiosity.
"Can we allow that, King?" Kaoru turned his head at the currently serious-looking club president.
King?
Tamaki thought about it then snapped his fingers. "Mama, Haruno-san should probably watch us do our stuff on her first day!" Tamaki shouted, his eyes sparkling.
Mama?
Kyoya sighed deeply. Pushing back his glasses, it glinted under the conveniently placed glass window that let in the rays of the sun. "Hmph. If that's what you wish, idiot club president," was his deep reply.
Idi-Ah! Wait. . . There's nothing wrong about that.
We rounded a corner and there, in all it's white and wooden glory, were the doors of the III Music Room. The twins decided on themselves to rush to it and open it for me. I looked around when no one walked in. "You first, Haruno-san," Haruhi explained with a smile.
"Oh. . . Well, then," I mumbled before entering the room without a problem. The others followed after me and went to sit on the sofa they were sitting on when I finally showed my true gender to them. Remembering it made me smile a bit. Their faces were priceless.
And like in that time, they took their seats in front of me, giving me a look from up to bottom. I raised my eyebrow slightly in confusion. We were over with the assessment portion already. Why do it again?
"So. . . Aren't you going to tell me anything?" I asked to stop their staring. It was Tamaki who spoke up.
Standing up and walking over to me to put his arm around my shoulders, he said with a blinding smile, "For starters, Haruno-san, you're going to be trained on how to entertain the guests starting today."
Hmm. . . Seems easy enough.
Mm.
I shrugged while saying, "Okay. But you said I should watch first." He nodded and added, "That, too." He took his arm off me and walked over to the sofa where the rest of the members watched sitting. He stood in the middle of Haruhi and Kyoya and together, all of them exclaimed, "Welcome to the Ouran High School Hostclub!"
"Umm. . . Thanks," I replied, a little awkwardly. I noticed Kyoya push his glasses beside Tamaki and I turned my eyes on him, expecting something to come out of his mouth (words, that is). "This will be what we will all say the moment the door opens to reveal our guests and customers. With you included, Haruno-san," he explained coolly. I nodded in understanding.
Then, they all began explaining to me the basics and showing me how to look handsome and collected around the customers. It was awkward when they told me to do what they did since all I ever saw them do successfully was to be rambunctious and crazy. And I seriously didn't want to do the Devil Twins act! Seriously.
When it was time to go to class, I really felt relieved to be out of this crazy club's way. But the two opposites, Kyoya and Tamaki, decided to walk with me to the classroom since we were in the same class. Well, I couldn't refuse since they were right so I walked together with them to the classroom. With Tamaki calling up a storm with compliments about himself and whatnot while Kyoya was making me crazy with his mumbling about his interest in my profit potential being high and such.
Aarrgghhh! Can't these two stop?! I'm gonna go mental if we don't reach class!
Don't worry, Sakura. Just let me out and lash at them so this problem's gone.
No way. I know what you're going to do to me once you're done lashing at them. Don't even try!
Ugh! Fine. . . Had to try, though. . .
"And you see this hair? Ahh! It's beautiful isn't it? With its golden glow and silkiness, it's prefect for a prince like me, Haruno-san!"
"I wonder how many customers you could entertain for a whole day. . ."
AARRGHHHH!
Thankfully for my sanity and sudden urge to bash some heads, preferably mine, we reached our classroom and I immediately went to my seat. They tried to follow after me but their fangirls and admirers intervened, standing and crowding around them like bees to honey. And unfortunately for me, a few girls came barging into my personal space, too.
I just smiled at them my best smile as they asked questions I couldn't answer for the sake of my identity. But I suddenly realized, everytime I smile at them, some would faint with hearts for eyes and the others who have not yet fainted at all would sigh and stare at me dazedly. I sweat-dropped. For a moment, I thought that crossdressing into the boys' uniform is a regrettable choice but it was gone the moment it appeared in my head. I do have a reason to crossdress after all.
I took the chance to go to my seat when I could pass through the girls who became busy squealing to notice me. I sat down with a tired sigh before taking my pencil case and books from my bag.
A few minutes later, the teacher stepped inside and greeted the class. My classmates immediately went to their seats when he walked in. "Alright, class. For this whole week, we are going to study in the chemistry lab because I have something planned for you to do there. Now, get your book and pencil cases and proceed to the lab," he said before walking out.
Almost at the same time, the whole class stood up to either go after the teacher or to take their things more easily. I did the latter first then the former choice. While I walked, Tamaki and Kyoya were instantly by my sides. From all directions, I could hear some of the girls say 'Wahh! Look, look! It's the Saku-kun and two of the hostclub members!' and I'm sure I heard 'Did you know? Saku-kun was finally recruited to the hostclub! Kya!'. I sweat-dropped when high-pitched squeals began to erupt from the whole female population of my classroom which excludes me.
Tamaki leaned in my ear and whispered, "I see that rumors of your joining the club is spreading fast, Haruno-san. Maybe you'll have to take in a few customers today rather than just watch the members do their job." I grunted softly in irritation but didn't respond more than that. But while the three of us walked side by side, a few girls came clinging to our conversation and to the two boys beside me currently began to flirt with most of them.
This is going to be a long day. . . Huff!
Well. . . Good luck, Sakura. Cuz you're totally going to need it.
Thanks for that.
When I thought I would never reach the cemistry lab not deaf, we finally arrived with me having no casualties in my ears. Teacher was already by the open doors, wearing a lab coat and hanging around his neck was a pair of glass goggles. "Take a labcoat and goggles on the rack then take your seats with your partners," he said.
After taking our own labcoats and safety goggles, we all went to the seats but I suddenly realized, I'm the only one who didn't have a partner. When the teacher noticed, he called me over to the front and asked the whole class, "Who would be nice enough to let Haruno-kun as a third partner?"
Almost like a hurricane, all the girls of my class raised their hands and shouted "Me! Me! Me!" like a chant in a rally. I took a step back from the intense look in their eyes. It's slightly unnerving. I mean, their eyes are on fire! Some are even shining evilly! From inside my head, I could imagine Inner shivering in slight fear.
But both fortunately and unfortunately, the teacher pointed at Kyoya and Tamaki then said, "Tamaki-san, Ootori-san, I leave Haruno-san to you." The two of them nodded with small smiles.
And although my female classmates were obviously disappointed, their groans quickly turned into excited whispers. I ignored them with a sweat-drop and took a chair to place beside Tamaki. After that, teacher started the class.
Today, we were supposed to do an experiment and after telling us what to do, and what sort of glass beakers we were supposed to get, the teacher told us to start. But as Tamaki was about to take a beaker and a glass cylinder filled almost to the brim with some sort of student-safe chemical, Kyoya stopped him with a hand. We both looked at him with curiosity.
"Tamaki, you stay out of the way. I don't want you getting near these chemicals unless I need you to disrupt the class with your clumsy handling," Kyoya said smoothly, pushing his glasses which glinted from the fluorescent light, as per usual. I noticed Tamaki move to argue childishly, and fail to execute it the moment he saw Kyoya's cold glare, intensified by the dark shadow that gave Kyoya an ominous look.
Oooohh. . . So scary. . .
Was that supposed to be sarcasm?
What do you think?
You're really bad at trying to hide what you're really feeling. . .
What do you mean?
I mean you're feeling a bit spooked by that look, weren't you?
Wha-No way! I wasn't spooked! You were the one who was probably spooked!
Alright, alright. . . Fine. You don't have to fuss.
Hmph!
"Haruno-san," I heard someone say my name. I looked up to my right and saw a girl standing there, looking at me hopefully. She looked a little nervous, too, though.
I decided to give her a slight smile to calm her. "Yes, what is it?" I asked her that, and suddenly, her face burned red. I was startled and I instinctively went to her to ask if she was okay.
Kyoya's POV:
"Are you alright?"
'It seems that Haruno-san has quite the natural side to her. Although a bit more impulsive than Haruhi. That's pretty good,' I thought. I stared at Haruno-san a little more, watching her interact with the blushing girl.
"U-umm. . . if possible, would you please go to this place after our dismissal?" After saying those words, the girl passed Haruno-san a folded piece of paper. I was curious but stayed quiet.
Haruno-san didn't open the paper, instead she put it in her pocket without hesitation. She smiled at the girl, and promised she would go. "Th-thank you, Haruno-kun!" Then, the girl went back to her group.
'Rather bold to have done this during class,' I thought, turning back to the chemicals just as Haruno-san took her seat beside me. But Haruno-san's words broke my thoughts when she said, "What am I and Tamaki-san going to do while you're busy with the chemicals, Kyoya-san?"
I paused, and thought of what to tell her. Even Tamaki was watching me with expectation. "Haruno-san, if you wish to help me, dictate the steps written on the book. Tamaki, stay quiet," I told them. Immediately, they did as told.
While Haruno-san read the steps for me to do from the book, Tamaki decided to flirt with some of the girls to keep from being bored. After a while though, the teacher caught him and tried to reprimand him for not focusing on the group activity. All he said was, "I can't just leave these girls bored when I'm in their presence, teacher!" And with a wink after his statement, the girls swooned and some of them gave the teacher dirty looks which caused him to hesitate. The teacher just sighed.
"Alright, alright. Just focus on your activity! No more flirting, Tamaki Suoh-kun, or I'll personally tell this to the principal. You cannot do anything related to flirting or courting during class . . . Even if you are in the host club," teacher finally said. Then, he went back to the front, watching the other students in the room.
I sighed, too. But not because I was disappointed with Tamaki being reprimanded by the teacher. That always happens. It was because the opportunity to make more customers in the host club through Tamaki's unnecessary, but natural, flirting was opposed. 'Tsk. He should have been more discreet with his actions, that Tamaki-idiot,' I thought irately.
"Kyoya-san, the chemicals," Haruno-san's sudden reminder caused me to remember what I was supposed to be doing. "Are you alright?" She asked.
I nodded with a slight smile to reassure her. Then, without further discussion, she accepted my mute response and reread the step on which we stopped. I followed every word she said without fail. Actually, I already know how to do the activity since I am always advanced in everything for preparation. But I can't tell Haruno-san that now, can I?
'She might lose self-confidence,' I thought with a slightly amused chuckle. 'Although she won't have to be conscious about her looks,' I added in my head.
"Kyaaaa! Kyoya-sama~!"
I smirked triumphantly at my work as the girls around my group admired it, squealing to the highest of their voices. I turned to Haruno-san and she gave me curt smile of acknowledgement which, for some reason or other, made me feel accomplished, and rather embarrassed.
As I revelled in the admiring looks of my classmates, including that idiotic president I call my childhood friend, the teacher inspected my work and made a small remark with a pleased expression. "Very good, Ootori-kun. As I should have expected," he said.
I thanked him politely. And he went to get the others to finish their own experiment.
Sakura's POV:
The class ended a little later than scheduled because of the teacher's concern about only having less than thirteen percent of the class make a successful liquid experiment. He didn't let the class leave the lab until all of his students were at least able to make a decent sort of chemical through the steps in the book and with what was left of the ingredients on the table.
So now, I lead my way alone (thank goodness) to the classroom after helping teacher with clearing the beakers and other objects. It was history class next and I had to hurry unless I wanted to miss any of my teacher's lecture. She's very specific with her lectures and everything she says is found in the exams, or so I heard.
I reached the door to my classroom and heard more noise than required to give me the idea that the teacher wasn't there yet. I opened the door and went in, almost every pair of eyes turning in my direction except for those busy ogling at the two, pretty boy hosts in the room. I took my seat just as the door reopened to let in the history teacher. All my classmates went back to their seats and quieted down. Then, she started class.
Four classes and a lunch break later.
"Have you gotten used to Ouran recently?" One of my girl classmates asked as I hid my books to get ready for the next class. I gave her a reassuring smile and replied tersely, "Yes, I am."
The girl's smile grew into a wide grin and suddenly, her friendly aura turned into something very alarming. VERY.
She coyly tucked a bang behind her ear and looked at me with a shy but serious stare, her cheeks laid with pink. She opened her mouth to speak but she paused, as if thinking over in her head what she had say. Then, shaking her head dismissively and sending a smile in my direction, she went back to her seat a few tables away without a word. Slightly confused, I tilted my head thoughtfully while taking my seat.
"I see that she has an interest in you, Haruno-san," Kyoya said from beside me, his voice still even but I could fairly notice the amount of dislike in it. I ignored it, though.
He's trying to tease us, Sakura.
I know. Don't say anything. I might blurt it out.
Oooh. . . I want to talk now!
Shut up!
No! You can't make-
"I did think so, too. Her change of attitude was rather alarming," I replied politely.
"Well, Haruno-san. That is normal for beautiful people like us. We can't go through a day without girls trying to flirt their way for attention from us. Ohohoho!" Tamaki laughed conceitedly.
I ignored them and busied myself with some reading. It would be good if I understood the new lesson for class since it's pretty hard. I don't think Kyoya would have a hard time understanding the lesson, though. He looks like the type to be capable of everything. And I doubt Tamaki cares about anything other than his club and his looks, one of which is higher priority in ranks.
I sighed. I wonder if I can keep up.
~Chapter Sixteen ends here~
07: HI GUYS! Okay, this is of course another chapter that I have made and published late. So to the readers who did not give up on me, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I'm sorry that it very long to post chapters. That's because I'm having writer's block and I have a lot of things on my mind but rest assured, I will finish this story without a doubt (LOL). So please, to give me a little bit of a boost, leave a review. I might get more inspiration.
