Chapter 17. The Final Clue
'So evidently Bradley is working for Stan, helping create diversions to ensure his success. ' Trixie explained to the police.
The station was up and running again and Bradley was behind bars in the back.
He tried to cover his tracks for a while, claiming he was there to talk to the police, but too much evidence was against him. After a search of his house, equipment connected to that set up in the Police Station matched, and he was marched back to the cells.
He was currently being interrogated about Regans were abouts.
'So what do we do now?' Di questioned.
'Yeah,' Dan agreed, 'we have the information needed to confirm Bradley is in on this, that Stan is Mad Stranger.'
'Only, we can't confirm it without solid proof.' Honey sighed.
'And the only way to get that is to locate Stan.' Jim finished.
'What do we do?' Mart asked.
There was a collective silence.
Finally Brian spoke, 'I say we go to this chess event and catch him that way. Follow him home and get our answers.'
Trixie gave a nod, 'yes. That seems like our best option.'
'And then when we have the proof we need, we can put him behind bars with Bradley and finally find Regan.' Honey said with relief.
'Okay then, it's a plan.' Trixie said.
Sergeant Molinson all the while watched on, proud to see the group thinking and working as a team.
As the day of the chess event rolled around, the group were on edge. This would either be what leads them to success or failure. It was time to put their newly acquired chess skills to the test.
Today was the big day. Stan was their final piece, and it was time for him to be checkmated.
