So I realise I disappeared for a while, well.. like three years, which was because I actually became sick and didn't have the energy to write, and then I honestly completely forgot I hadn't finished this story and thought it was time to put fanfiction to a rest.
Tonight, at 1am, I remembered this site and came to check out my old account. I realised the story was never finished, so here is the final piece of the puzzle.
I am writing my own stories now, so if you would like to pre-order my book, search for The Enchantress (Wicked, #1) by Blaire Hammond on Amazon. The writing is much better than that of my 15 year old self, I promise.
Chapter 18. Questions
All was quiet between the group as the group signed off their names at the entrance. Theh weren't sure how the day would progress, but they hoped they could track Stan close enough throughout the event and then follow him home. It was their last option. Bradley refused to talk, claiming not to know Stan or of Regan's whereabouts. Despite this, he was still in big trouble. Trixie was convinced he was in on the ordeal.
It was just a matter of having Stan admits to everything. Which should be easy. Well, as easy as she winning Chess, which after losing her first three games, she realised she was lousy at.
Brian and Jim had spotted Stan and were subtly keeping an eye on him while Trixie, Mart and Honey entered the ring of Chess Players, Di and Dan cheering them on ans reporting between the two separate groups.
Mart, funnily enough, appeared to be good at the game and eventually Trixie lost out to him too, deciding to give up.
'Come on Trix, you're no quitter.' Mart bated her.
'Oh can it. I'm going to check on Stan.'
Trixie weaved her way through the crowds mulling around different tables of intense chess games.
'Hows he going?' Trixie asked Jim.
'Winning, as suspected. It's interesting he's decided not to disguise himself today. It's as if he knew something was going to go down.'
'I wonder if he's finally showing his identity now so people can look at him and realise who he was, and who he now is?' Brian suggested.
'Perhaps. It's all too suspicious though. I can't help but wonder if something deeper is going on. I mean, this guy hides his identity for years, earning his status as the Grand Master. He was, literally a stranger. And now, all of a sudden, he's showing up under his real name.' Trixie responded.
'He was questioned, remember. What if he is using his real name to steer us from his scent. I mean, right now, we are only assuming he is Mad Stranger. He hasn't actually enrolled under that name.' Brian countered.
'What are you saying, that he isn't actually the Grand Master?' Jim asked.
'All the signs point to him.' Trixie was quick to add.
Brian furrowed his brow. 'That's just it. It appears to be to easy. Too... simple. For someone who's supposedly a Grand Master.'
There was a sudden chorus of cheers and they turned to see Mart grinning with delight.
'Looks like he may get to play the Master himself.' Jim commented.'That might be good. We need someone to play him. Get a feel for him.'
They turned back to Stan, and gasped. Someone was walking out onto the playing field.
'Oh no.' Jim moaned.
It was Matt Wheeler.
