Chapter 19. Next Move
'Mart is ridiculous don't you think?' Honey asked as she approached Trixie's side, evidently unaware of the current situation.
Trixie turned to see her brother standing on his chair, encouraging the cheering crowd to chant louder.
'Oh god.'
Dan sidled up beside Honey, 'I can't watch that anymore.'
'Where's Di?' Trixie asked.
'Oh she's trying to rein him in. Good luck to he- whoa hey is that your Father Honey?'
Honey's head turned to the current match having just commenced.
'Oh my god what is he doing?'
Matt was settled down across from Stan, however he showed no sign of recognition.
'Maybe... maybe Stan isn't behind it?' Honey stammered.
'But all the clues fit. His name, his background. I don't understand.' Trixie huffed.
'Then who could it be?' Jim questioned.
'We have to get Bradley to talk. He is the only one who must know who it is.' Dan said with force.
'What if there are more than two working in this? What if there is Stan, the face of the attacks, with the motive of keeping his title. Bradley, the executioner of these attacks, with the motive of... well we're yet to know that yet. And a third person, the leader, the one making the calls and hoping to get Matt back for how he was treated in school?' Brian said suddenly.
'Gee Brian you're having all the good ideas lately.' Trixie said, 'but it think you might be right.'
'So how do we find this leader? We can't talk to Bradley. The police haven't got anything out of him and I doubt he will talk to us.' Honey said, eyes resting on her fathers face. Trixie could see the fear she held for her dad. The leader behind Mad Stranger was serious, and Regan could be seriously hurt. They didn't want anyone else getting kidnapped or injured.
Trixie rose her eyes to Stan. 'It seems Stan might be our only hope.'
'How do we get the answers out of him?' Dan asked, fist clenching.
'Calm down there Indiana Jones, we aren't going to be doing anything to hurt him.' Jim said.
'But we may be able to drag the truth out of him in a different way.' Trixie said mysteriously.
'And what are you thinking Trix?' Brian inquired.
There was another round of cheers for Mart from behind them.
A smiled tugged at Trixie's lips, 'if he values his title as much as he claims, the threat of losing it might just be enough.'
