Chapter 7

Since that day three weeks ago, Hermione has been searching books to find out why Alex's eyes flashed purple before going back to brown in seconds. Sighing, Hermione pulls down a random book before looking at the cover Hidden Major Magical Accidents In History.

Curious, Hermione walks over to the librarian and signs it out.

Back at the Gryffindor common room, Hermione takes a seat next to the fireplace and opens the book. Beginning to read the book that Saturday evening, Hermione heard Harry and Ron sit down on the couch.

"You ask. You are the one who wants the help." Harry whispers to Ron.

"You need the help too. You ask." Ron fires back.

Sighing, Hermione looks up at the two boys, who are her best friends.

"Need help with homework again?" Hermione questions catching the attention of the bickering boys.

"Yeah, just a little." Harry admits.

"Okay, I will explain the questions to you, but you have to do it. I'm really into this book." Looking at the book, Hermione smiles softly. She's so into this one chapter about a lady who was a Ravenclaw student and barely escaped death in the first wizardry war against the Dark Lord. Her name is, Annabella Stonely.

Spending twenty minutes explaining the homework to the two boys, Hermione turns back to the chapter.

Young, Annabella Stonely, went to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in 1940s. She was sorted into the Ravenclaw house and being a year younger than her friends, including future husband. She was very close with Lily Potter, the famous Harry Potter's mother, back then she was known as Lily Evans.

Annabella's other friends include, Lily's husband, Harry's father, James Potter. The secret keeper of the Potter family, Peter Pettigrew. Harry's godfather, Sirius Black. And her husband, Remus Lupin.

During the wizardry war battled on, Remus and Annabella got married, the first out of the group. After them Lily and James got married. The couple defended the muggles in their home in America. The couple got married here in England, but right away, eight years later, moved to America when they discovered they were having a child. Rumours say, they moved because they were a target, others say they refused to give their lives for the greater good. Luckily, we were able to get the answer out of the couple's best friend, Sirius Black.

"They moved to America to raise their child away from the danger and out of the magical world."

When the child was four, Annabella returned to England to help her boss, who gladly let her do work from home in America, sort out a potion. Sadly Annabella's partner added the wrong ingredient by accident, causing the potion to release a poison. Annabella evacuated everyone out, and tried to stop it, but everything she did, had no effect.

The poison entered Annabella's body, even hurting the child inside of her. Getting taken to the hospital, Remus and the child came in. Remus took her home.

A few weeks later, we discovered that Annabella died that night of the accident, before the family even reached their home. Remus informed us directly, that Annabella fought the poison the best she could to keep their child safe enough to keep her alive. Remus and his best friend, Alastor Moody, helped the birth of the child, and stayed with Annabella during her last moments.

Remus named the child, the name Annabella wanted.

"Annabella loved coming up with names," Remus smiles with tears glistening in his eyes, "So I decided to keep the name Annabella wanted to name the child. The child is a girl. Her name is Alexandra Lupin. The four-year-old child is a boy. His name is Justin Lupin."

Closing the book with tears flowing down her cheeks, Hermione wipes them away. Lupin? Wait, R.L… As in the name on the trunk on the train? It can't be, can it? Is the Lupin family, that the chapter is written about, be the family Harry, Ron and I met on the train?

"No! Let me go! Justin! Dad!" Alex screams struggling in the guy's hold, trying to break away.

"Stop it kid!" The guy snaps.

"NO! Let me go!" Feeling her sock feet slide across the wooden floor, Alex tries to use it to her advantage like Mad-Eye taught her to do.

Sliding herself across the wooden floor, underneath the guy, Alex forces the guy's feet apart more before slithering further back. Losing his balance, the guy lands on the floor with a thud. Getting to her feet, Alex runs slipping and sliding to the front door. Slamming the door open, Alex sprint out of the house and into the pouring rain of the moonless night.

Sitting up panting and screaming at the top of her lungs, Alex flinches and screams more as the bedroom door slams open. Pressing herself into the wall, her blurry vision makes matters worse. Seeing a figure rushing over to her, she curls herself into a ball with her face buried in her knees and hands gripping her hair at the back of her head.

Unable to catch her breath, she screams as her mind replays the previous events over and over.

"Alex." Alex hears a soft voice speak to her, "Alex, listen to me. It's all a bad dream. It's dad. Alex, please come back to me."

Choking on her tears, her screams die down as her lungs squeezes trying to get air. Looking up shaking, Alex blinks to clear her vision. Looking at Lupin, Alex throws herself into his arms.

Hearing his words and feeling him rock her back and forth, Alex slowly gets her breathing in order as the tears slow and whimpers are heard.

Stroking his daughter's hair, Lupin sighs. I'm going to murderer your ass Lucius Malfoy. Lupin threatens in his mind.

Moving so he is laying down, Lupin pulls Alex's covers up. Laying on her side, Alex buries her face in Lupin's chest sniffling. Hugging her close to him, Lupin rubs Alex's back soothingly.

"Were you five, seven or nine?" Lupin questions quietly.

"Nine." Alex looks up as Lupin wipes her fallen tears.

"Mad-Eye is guarding the house and we are here at Hogwarts. He can't hurt you. I've never forgiven myself for leaving and Mad-Eye leaving you home alone to take Justin to Zeke's. It was my mistake."

"Dad, it's not yours. It's not your fault that work takes you away."

"I know, but you are my baby girl. I can't let anything happen to you."

Curling up, Alex clenches Lupin's nightshirt tightly closing her eyes.

~H&A~

It's the day of the full moon, and Alex and Justin are wearing sunglasses to hide their purple eyes. Because their fangs are tiny, they go unnoticeable. If you are in their faces, you can see them, but if not, no one can.

Sitting at lunch with Cedric, Luna, Cho, Susan, and Ginny, the Lupin siblings talk about their homework for the weekend.

"So Alex, our Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher is yours and Justin's father right?" Luna asks smiling softly.

"Yes." Alex nods, "Why do you ask?"

"Why isn't he teaching today?"

"Dad is ill. Justin and I aren't that well either, but not enough to miss our classes. Dad said if it gets worse, we may have a few days off next week." Alex lies.

"I hope you both get well soon. I'm sorry."

"Oh no, it's not your fault."

Smiling at the young girl, Susan is proud of Alex slowly speaking up instead of just nodding along to everything like she has done over the last two months.

"Hey Alex. Hey Justin." Jumping at the new voice, Alex turns around to see Hermione looking at them weird, "Why are you both wearing sunglasses when it's all cloudy and raining?"

"Oh, our eyes are just sore today." Justin replies, "We are starting to get ill."

"I am so sorry. Are you both doing alright?"

"Oh yes. How are your classes going?"

"Pretty well. May I join you?"

"I don't see why not." Gently pulling his sister closer to him, Justin smiles at Hermione without showing his teeth. Joining the group, Hermione side glances at Alex to see her purple eyes. Not wanting to start something, Hermione pulls out a piece of parchment before writing on it. Slipping it onto Alex's lap under the table, Hermione fills her plate with grilled cheese as Alex reads it.

Alex,

I will not start this now, and in a crowded room. May you and Justin meet me outside after classes this afternoon? I just have a few questions. I will not tell anyone just so you know. In case you don't understand what is going on… I can see your purple eyes and the tip of your fang peeking out from under your lip.

Hermione.

Gulping, Alex looks at Hermione scared. Passing the note to Justin, Alex waits for him to read it before nodding. Looking back to the older girl, Alex nods turning pale.

"I didn't mean to scare you." Hermione whispers gently taking Alex's hand to calm her a little, "I won't say a word."

"Promise?" Alex mutters looking down at her soup.

"I promise."

Not feeling hungry, Alex kisses her brother's cheek before grabbing her bag and sprinting out of the Great Hall.
