Gaius had allowed Melanie to leave after a nights rest. Leaving her with a strict warning to not go back to training for a while. When Gwain had heard the news, he convinced Arthur to give him some time off to take care of her. Though Arthur had planned on it anyway.
Melanie was still planning on killing Morgana, ignoring Gaius's strict instructions. She couldn't just forget about the vision. If she did, Camelot would lose it's king.
The only problem, she needed Excalibur. She didn't know where Merlin had it.
"Are you alright Melanie?" Gwain asked one night, noticing she couldn't sleep. "You seem distressed."
"I'm fine." She lied. "Just a bad dream is all."
"This has been going on a while now. Ever since the accident you haven't been yourself. Are you sure you're alright?" She hesitated a moment. Could she tell him? Would he keep her secret? "Melanie, what is it?"
"I'm a seer." The words fell from her mouth before she could stop them.
"A what?"
"A seer. I see the future. Or a possible future. One which I can change."
"You have magic?" She nodded.
"Are you going to tell Arthur?"
"Absolutely not." He assured. "Just tell me what you saw that is causing you to act this way."
"The reason Arthur struck me was because I had a vision during our spar. In the vision, Mordred killed Arthur. Along with countless others."
"We can change it can't we?"
"There's more." She said. "You were captured and Morgana tortured you to death. Within the next few days a woman who is working for Morgana will come and try to lead you into a trap, resulting in your death. It is because Morgana separated Arthur from his finest knights that Mordred was able to kill him."
"If you saw this woman again would you recognize her?"
"Of course. I never forget a face. Certainly not a dangerous one." She paused. "I believe I could get the truth out of her one way or another."
"Do you truly believe you could change this fate?"
"I've done it before. I cannot let this come to pass. Not when I know I can avoid it."
"Be careful please." He whispered, placing a light kiss on her forehead. "I'd rather not see you get hurt."
"Try watching the one you love die before your very eyes."
"You love me?"
"I do." She replied. "I used to think love was a weakness. It was something I didn't need. Then I met you."
"I love you." He took her hand in his and kissed her knuckles. "Please stay safe."
"I will do what I can." She kissed his cheek and rested her head on his chest. He wrapped his arms tight around her and pet her hair as she finally began to drift off.
