A Fine Mess Tokyo:
Don't Catch Me Running
Ino needed to clear her head the morning the sky tasted a new dawn. The light rippled over the sea of forests and trees as she flashed through, going so quickly she could barely mind her step. He told her, her mind kept taunting, painfully reminding her, just like that he told her.
She needed to be angry with Temari as well. She called her a whore, like she'd even slept with Sasuke after marriage. She would never do that. She might've thought about it, but it was strictly fantasy. Fleeing moments.
As if the punch of irony's essence just wanted to mess with her, she eyed the near-dark early morning ANBU trainees sweating in the chilly, dim summer air, Sasuke and Neji supervising accordingly.
She dipped behind an oak that soared several meters above her head, probably a hundred meters. She focused on that instead of where her eyes wandered to. In the winter he had pale skin, but the summer, the summer loved him the way babies love their mothers, without question or thought. It just did. And his skin accepted every bit of that love. His muscles nicely rippled as he sparred every other ninja. Neji would write down notes, and Lee's group would be outfitted in taut, strong muscles that contracted with every bursting pushup.
"Ino," a voice said softly behind her, and her whole body clenched. Please don't be…
Good. It was Hinata. She didn't know what she could say if it'd been Shikamaru. Slowly, she released her breath, turning around. "Morning Hinata. Just out running."
The woman smiled back at her, it was small, and if it'd been on anyone else it wouldn't even have been considered a smile. But she wore it well. Gently. Her hair was tastefully brought back, a deep shade of indigo without the sun's help in desperately trying to lighten it up from looking like pure, silky ink. It only served to contrast her skin harder. The sun also couldn't help her paleness. "O-oh, al-alright. Didn't mean to interrupt. I was just going to see Sasuke and Neji. Give updates-updates on my-my mission."
Ino stepped aside. "Of course." Her breath still wouldn't lessen. It gushed out of her.
"Do you-do you want to come with?" she asked her, needing a friend to help salve her from scrutiny. Ino always helped make her feel better whenever her cousin threw looks of disdain and discouragement. What if she hadn't done her mission well enough? "Please."
Ino nodded again, trying to think of better words. She said, "Of course," again.
Hinata thanked her, and they walked.
Sasuke felt a shift in the air. Everything felt impossibly warm as he dodged a throwing punch, grasping the arm and pulling it briskly behind the attacker's back, sharply sending them to their knees by stomping on their calf, nearly snapping it. He didn't have to be that aggressive, but he suddenly felt the need for some showmanship. He allowed himself a look, and saw Ino. It was like his dream had foreshadowed all things good and sexy. His hands rose to smooth back his hair, but he stopped himself, deeming it too corny. And for the fact Hinata was right next to her.
Wait. What was she doing right next to her?
He tried to mask his confusion with a hard, impassive look. Had she had some second eye intuition that he wanted to fuck Ino? She wouldn't have been wrong, but it would've been surprisingly bold to drag her up to him. "Hinata. Ino." He greeted tersely.
Neji noticed them ahead of time, but he didn't divert his attention from his papers. "Did you find it imperative to deliver your notes orally? Is paper too far below you, cousin?"
Hinata swallowed.
"It's just a report, Neji," Ino snapped immediately. "I give mine without papers all the time."
Neji clipped his pen calmly. "And what's your rank again?" he asked, knowing full well it was below even Hinata's. A med. Only a med.
Ino's jaw tightened. "I don't need to have a way up rank to know that isn't that important."
"To you, of course," he said. "I conduct matters much more professionally. And if I demand excellence, and am in the position that I am, which I am, to demand it, then it must be met. Now do you have your report, cousin?" He said 'cousin' like a curse.
And to Hinata it might as well be a hit. A reminder of his hatred. She tugged at the straps of her bag. "I…I thought that…we-we weren't-weren't required…before."
"You have no insight," he said as a fact. "You were entrusted with a highly private mission and you didn't think ahead, which our enemies are," he said as a conclusion.
"I'm-—" Her eyes dove to her feet. She hoped so dearly that Naruto was there, just this once. He'd know what to say to Neji. He'd be able to help. Naruto? She meant Sasuke.
Of course she meant Sasuke. However, she didn't feel the same bursting hope, because he wouldn't. As she looked up at him, he was looking back at her blankly, almost disappointed. "I'm so-so—"
"Don't apologize to him! That's the way you do your work and you do it well," Ino defended, her heart racing. Was no one else going to speak up? Even the trainees stopped, taking it as a teaching lesson. Except, slowly, Neji's eyes traveled and stopped on her. Her stomach dropped, and twisted.
"I'll take her home," Sasuke said. "It's early. Sleep is to be needed, her cheeks are flushed."
Oh, thank goodness. Ino was glad for the interruption and that Sasuke would take Hinata to cool down from the attention. She'd hoped she hadn't gotten her into too much trouble, but she just couldn't stand Neji's tone sometimes.
Pupil-less man's lips pressed. "That would be wise."
Sasuke grasped Ino's arm, and Ino, shocked, looked to him. "But Hinata?"
"She has a report to deliver. Highly private, as Neji said, and should be conducted in private," he told her, not seeing how she didn't see he was saving her. Hyuuga was well above pettiness, but if he found her incompetent, he could do damage. "It's still dark out. I'll walk you."
Ino looked to Hinata, standing firmly. Until the quiet woman nodded. It was true. She had a report to deliver regardless. Ino stepped away from her.
As they walked, Ino kept taking looks. Peeks at him. How quickly he'd jumped in to protect her. No hesitation. That was strength. That was…something.
Have you ever been fucked? he wanted to ask her. That was on his mind as they walked. Like really fucked? Fucked hard? So hard you couldn't stop screaming and clenching?
Of course she had. They used to all the time. They could barely crawl away from each other. They had to rent rooms out of the village and just wish for the best that their noise didn't cross over, but shit, it was loud. And so good. Did she remember? Any of that?
"Thanks," Ino said. Then looked up at him, noticing he was looking at her this time. There was a cloud over his eyes. And she recognized it instantly. It used to make her smirk and pull him into the nearest room. She looked away. Maybe it was a different look. Like a how was she that way look? A how could you talk to Neji that way look. Yeah. He didn't want to pull her skirt up, and hike her leg over his arm while he—stop. He's married. To Hinata. She just walked away from Hinata. Hinata. Hinata. Hinata. Sasuke's hand went to her.
Hinata.
Hinata.
Her lips parted and he didn't even look around before he kissed her. It was fine if she didn't let her teeth go. If she clenched them. He pulled her mouth down with his palm on her jaw as he held her face. He let in his tongue, grasping the small of her back. Her lips were so thick, warm, soft and full. He didn't know what to get to first. Could he fuck her? Right now?
"Hey!" a kid biked past them on a rickety old thing with rusted wheels he had to pedal down. "You can't just stop in the middle of the road!"
Ino split apart from Sasuke, but he grasped her, tugging at her clothes. "Sasuke…"
"Just once," he said. He knew it was a damn lie the moment it left his mouth. He could stand Hinata if he had Ino to fuck as hard as he needed to. But it was more than that. He wanted to be around her. To feel her, always. To—to—to—
He smiled. "It's not a dream."
"What's not a dream?"
"This. Us." The last dream had fucked with his mind. Put him in a mood for a good fucking. Except it only felt like he was making hard love to a mouse. A squeak every now and again, a breath every now and again. He breathed. "We kissed."
Ino felt her lips. She didn't need to to still feel the pressure that was just on them. She shook her head. "No, we didn't." She looked around. "No."
"Say what you want to, sweetheart, just have me."
Have him? She'd never heard him talk like that ever. He wanted to be had. He was the one who did the having, and just for her now, he wanted to be had. That wasn't a lie. She knew. The other 'just once' was. "No."
His face faltered. Like she'd run her hand violently over it. "But we did kiss." Was he crazy?
She shook her head, and he grabbed her arm, and stalked to the nearest building.
Ino wanted to push her hand in his side, wanted to stick her heels in the ground, wanted to not feel that bit of excitement. Fuck me. Fuck me.
She looked around again and danced forward when she saw clear streets. Lightless windows. She made him smirk by hitting her back against the wall around bringing her arms around his neck. Yes she wanted it. Of course she wanted it.
His need made him loony. He instantly thought of her having his kids, her taking his seed and giving him everything. They would be unstoppable. Their heirs would have the power to see into the mind, switch bodies, breathe fire, spin their enemies world, and unleash a blast that would take everything. Why did they ever leave each other? He didn't know he mumbled it against her shoulder, until she peeled back. Breathless. "What?"
"Us. Why did we leave each other?"
The answer made her stomach feel like it was rotting, filling with bile. She'd lost her sensei. She didn't want to talk to anyone. Be with anyone. She could barely remember to breathe let alone know how to kiss or feel warm or anything. It felt like more than year passed. She blinked and he was married. She blinked and she was dating Shikamaru. Then, slowly, life resumed again. "I love him."
"Who?"
"Shikamaru," her voice fell, but his grip tightened.
He forced his heart to beat. If it skipped it meant it did something to him. Hurt him even. "No," he growled. "You don't."
Ino tried pulling away, but Sasuke kept her arms around him. "Just. Let's just be like this. Even for a little bit." He cooled. Breathing out through his nose. Leaning his forehead against the wall, feeling the warmth of her hairline at his chin. He looked down at her, and she looked up at him, feeling his head shift. They shouldn't have looked. They shouldn't have gotten lost in each other's eyes. They shouldn't have stared, and greeted, and explored, and remembered and cherished and crumple and rebuild, stronger. "I love you."
Ino felt her heart clench. "Please don't say that."
She was whispering, but she felt like the whole random apartment building could hear. She felt the sky even listening. "Please."
But his presence was stronger. "Look at me." Her eyes watered and she kept them trained on the window, hoping someone would come and they could break apart, hoping, but it was still clear. He grasped her face. It didn't feel aggressive. It felt like home almost. Like she'd just gotten through the door after a long day, and it was up to her to either relax and enjoy it or go back out. "Have me."
He was terrified she'd shake her head. Burning. Praying she didn't say no.
She knew he only needed to say it one more time. And she would. She would have him and he would have her. Completely. Entirely.
"Have me."
Shikamaru lounged against the open air, the earth smelling fresh as he rolled a ring around his fingers. It slipped in and out, over and through, above and below and above, and above, and above, and above. Marry me.
He always thought he'd just drop the ring down on the desk, and just say those two words and she'd say yes and within a few months it'd be finalized and life could start. Officially.
Except when she came home, she didn't go to bed, but she came home. He was too unbothered by anything but the fact that she'd come home. She wanted to be with him. She wanted to stay after all. She didn't pack up. She just laid on the couch. Like he laid on the floor in the living room, just a roll over beneath her.
Everything felt nice.
Temari stopped when she heard: "That guy is a pig."
She didn't know why she looked, but what she looked at made her stop. She saw Sasuke and Hinata walking. Her eyes were a little red, but when weren't they. But the kid was definitely talking about him to his two other friends gathered haphazardly around his bike, trading snacks. They'd each bought one so that they could pass them around and have an equal taste of each.
"How come?" one of the kids graciously asked, she couldn't ask him to ask for her.
"He's holding hands with that lady, but he was just kissing one in the road before." He bit off a bar. Chewing fast. Like he was busy or something and this was his lunch break. "I mean wouldn't get out of the road into her. Just swallowing her lips."
Temari's ears burned. What the… "Can I help you lady?" the kid asked rudely, noticing her with his vigilant, worker eyes. He looked like he was self-made, but he also looked barely eleven. "What's with adults standing everywhere, but always barking at kids to get out of the way?"
Temari pulled out two crisp bills from her back pocket. She leaned over, letting the boy smell that it was real, which was weird because she'd just pulled it out of her backside, granted she had clothes, but she could tell it didn't bother him. Not when it came to money. "Tell me about the man again."

Sasuke decided he was going to enact his dream. He would have Ino, fully, in his bedroom. They'd lounge for hours having endless sex so rough their voices would be sore afterwards and they'd heal it with the water of each other's spit from kissing. He didn't even want to fuck Hinata until he could think again, he just wanted to make it happen.
So, he washed up with cold water and nice soap, the good kind, and wore his best ANBU infiltration uniform. Just so she'd be reminded that he had stature. That he'd be a good decision to make the trade for. But he barely got out of his house before a spiky-haired woman showed up. Her face square and butch, nose blunt, but eyes fairly pretty. "Can I help you?"
"Whatever you two are doing—end it," she said. No, she ordered.
He didn't take orders from her. Not now. Not before. Not ever. He didn't even entertain the thought of that. But he amused her. "End what?"
"Your affair."
Now, if he cared, his blood would've ran cold and he would've been rattled. But he didn't. "No."
She was taken aback at his boldness, his lack of even trying to hide it, the amount of sheer confidence it took to even refuse to. She hid it how greatly he surprised her behind a sharp frown. "End. It. Now. Today."
He looked at her, right in her blue eyes. "Fucking try to stop me." He said, then left his own home, daring her to run him down.
"I'll expose you. Her. I will tell everyone—I mean, everyone. Everyone." She said. "You will never sleep. Or maybe you will. Clearly you don't care. But she will. I called her a whore yesterday and she burst into tears—"
Temari didn't even blink when he nearly shoved her to the ground. He stopped just short of it, so furious fire seethed in sparks from his mouth. "Go near her, and you'll wish you'd never came to this village. Believe me."
Temari tried to look comfortably at him. She didn't look at the electricity around his hands. How instant it was.
Would she wish that she never came to the village? She didn't know. She only warned again. "Stop the affair," she gathered up her things. "Before you can't."

Hinata's hair spilled over her eyes as she let down her hair. Naruto loved that. His eyes always lit up whenever he saw it and it still made her heart soar no matter how many times she saw it. He just had a piercing grin, it just shot through the heart and made her forget she ever had a problem. It was safe. Healing.
"Oh, Hinata," he whispered, holding her in a big embrace. "He's just an anus. Jealous he can only get shit out. Whereas you're a…boob. You feed people." He tried.
She laughed, even though her cheeks flared at the mention of boobs coming from his lips. Her legs swung happily from her seat as he poured more ramen into her bowl, just to seem less gluttonous for how much he ate and he could really, really, eat.
Suddenly, before she could get her noodles in her mouth, hidden behind her hand because she could barely bear being around him and eating with him let alone letting him see how she eats, he got up. He announced, proudly, happily. "I'm going to make your day better."
"H-huh?" she asked softly, shocked. Her cheeks didn't even burn. How was that even possible? He already made her day better.
"They have this beautiful new scenery a village over, and once it hits noon, it's the most gorgeous thing ever. I saw it on a mission once and thought of you. Come with me, I just remembered." He leaned over, wrapping up the lunch to save for later, covertly stuffing it into his bag. Strapping it up securely, and there, lunch could be had later too. "Come on."
Hinata's ears felt like a burning fire was near them. She didn't even know how to slide off the seat, but he helped her with it gently. Licking, burning fire.
She needed this. She knew that much. She couldn't say so, she couldn't even thank him, but she needed this so much.
Ino dove around a corner and got cut off by Temari. "He doesn't know, but he will."
Ino rolled her eyes with that cryptic threat. She pushed past Temari, having no idea what she meant. But she wasn't in the mood to talk to someone who openly insulted her to her man. She quickened her steps, hoping to curve around a couple of streets to lose the woman following sharply behind.
"Shikamaru," she said and Ino still didn't slow.
Is that all that woman could talk about, who she could be around? What was she doing being so near to him anyway? "He's gonna know about you and Sasuke."
Ino stopped cold. Her throat dried out. "Know what?"
"Everything." Temari said. "This morning, when you two were kissing blatantly in public—"
How did she? How did she even know that?
"The covert looks, touches, gazes—"
Stop. Please stop. Please don't. Don't hurt him. Don't hurt them. "Temari, you don't know what you're—"
"Don't you dare say I don't know what I'm talking about. You know I do. It's all over you."
"No, you don't know what you're doing. We didn't kiss," Ino lied. "We stood really close to each other, it might look bad from far away."
Temari stepped forward. In her face. "Lie to me again and I'm going straight to him."
Ino knew she was trapped. "Please don't. It will never, never happen again. Hinata and Shikamaru won't even know. We—it was—only because—I promise we won't. It will be like it never happened. It won't happen ever again."
Temari gave her one last chance. "It better not."
Hope this was good guys! Let me know in the reviews if you want more! That's kind of how I know to update :)
