Chapter 2: His New Life
"You will find her?"
"Yes, I will find her," Hiei whispered, looking out at the stars from his twin sister's balcony.
The village was still a disaster from the massacre, though all had been given a proper burial. He could not see why Yukina remained here, not when she could be found so easily. Hiei turned to his sister and gave her a small smile, reaching out to touch her cheek gently then he chuckled, turning away.
"This is all so new to me."
"What?"
"All these emotions, knowing that you accept me... I've turned into a new man and it's quite terrifying," he stated, staring out at the night sky. "Yukina, I don't want you to stay here in the demon world, especially this village."
"Why?"
Hiei's fist clenched together with anger as he turned to face his sister.
"He may find you here and decide to take you out like the others. I don't want that to happen. Until we know if his purpose was to destroy all Ice Maidens, I don't want him knowing of your existence."
"If it will make you feel better, I will go stay with Genkai. She has been asking me to stay with her for awhile now."
"Yes, that would make me feel better. At least I'd know you're safe."
"Hiei, please find Shiva before it's too late..." Yukina whispered.
"I will find her, Yukina. I'm just so confused. Why didn't he kill her like the others?"
Yukina looked away from him, making Hiei stare at her for several moments.
"You know what's going on, don't you?"
"I know nothing," she whispered, her eyes not meeting his.
"Damn it, Yukina! Don't lie to me! This is your friend we are talking about!" He shouted, grasping her about the shoulders and making her look at him. "Tell me!"
"I'm, I'm not really sure this has any thing to do with this. Shiva's father turned up a several weeks ago and she was so terrified, she almost fainted. He was dead or at least that was what she had been told when she was younger. He explained how he was from the past, that he somehow came five hundred years into the future. The only reason he knew of his future daughter was from reading something or another. After Shiva heard this, she asked him to bring back her mother. He refused. One because he barely knew her mother and two because he could not go back to the past and neither could his half- brother or his friends. They were all stuck in this time, unable to travel back to their homes, five hundred years into the past. He, he also had a new mate and a child on the way. A human named Kagome. Shiva was so upset that she yelled at him and told him to leave, to never come back. He left, but not until he told her to be careful. He told me, because he must have noticed that we were friends, that he'd be back, to make sure she was alright."
"So, this is probably his fault! I should tell the others about this," he said before rushing away to go to Spirit World.
A small smile graced his features as he watched the large group of friends and family out in the backyard. The monk and slayer were playing around and flirting outrageously with one another. The young girl who traveled with him and the young kitsune, were ruthlessly attacking his retainer Jaken.
And sitting by the Sacred Tree was his wife and sister-in- law, both their bellies sticking out greatly and showing their obvious pregnancy. As she glanced towards him and their eyes locked, his grin widened and her eyes sparkled at him as she too smiled. He had been so surprised when he had learned that he loved the human miko, had denied it ever since the first moment he had seen her.
She was powerful for a human, even for a demon once she had properly been trained and then they had all come to this world, to introduce themselves to his mate's family. They had learned soon after that the well no longer had its magic to send them back. He has lived here with them for almost a year before he found out that he had a daughter.
He frowned, thinking back to the day he had learned about his child. He had been going over some of the old man's scrolls, his mate's grandfather, and found some information on the Western Lands where he once ruled. Apparently a one night stand that he had with an Ice Maiden had resulted in a child, a young Ice Maiden.
Occurring to the scroll, the woman that he had been with had been a Lady of the Ice Realm, a separate section then the other four lands, she had a daughter out of wedlock, a daughter she claims as the heir to the Western Lands. There was no mentions of what became of the Lord of the Western Lands, though many suggested he passed on because he was never heard from again.
There was no further mention of his daughter anywhere that he had found, except her name when the death of his daughter's mother was reported. His mate had been very understanding and supported him, both when he went to go see her and when he had returned without her. His amber eyes sadden as he thought about the day he had found his daughter…
He watched the two Ice Maidens from afar, standing in the shadows of the forest, looking at the two of them and trying to decide which one was most likely his daughter. A young child had told him that he could find the woman Shiva here, along with a woman named Yukina. But which one was Shiva?
The only thing the two had in common was their ice blue hair and even then one had their hair the color of the night sky, a deep blue that was almost black, and she was the one he assumed was his child, there was something about her that stuck him. His assumption was correct when that young woman turned his way and saw his form in the shadows, eyes identical to his widening as she stared at him. As she continued to stare at him in shock, the other young woman turned to see what held her attention. The woman gasped when she saw him and stood.
"My Lord," she said, bowing to him as he walked forward.
He ignored the woman, stopping before his daughter. He stared down at her and looked at her for several moments before kneeling down before her.
"You are Shiva," he stated, unable to remove his gaze from hers.
"You, you can't be real," she whispered, hesitantly reaching out a hand to touch his pale face.
He watched as tears came to her eyes as she touched him, lightly tracing his markings delicately.
"They told me you were dead," she whispered, dropping her hand to her side. "How can you be here?"
He shook his head, reaching out his hand to lightly caress her face, brushing his thumb across a strange marking upon her cheek. He stared at her face in confusion for a moment until he realized that it was in the shape of a star and deep blue. He moved his hand from her cheek and reached up to the hair covering her forehead, moving her hair to the side to reveal the sign of his house, a crescent moon.
"You really are my daughter," he whispered then shook his head to clear his confused thoughts and getting back to her question. "I never died my daughter. I just never continued on in your time."
"I, I don't understand," she said with confusion.
"Before you were born I left on a mission to a different land, to a different place and time. I became stuck in this place and have not been able to return to my proper time. I am from the past, five-hundred years in the past."
"But, that's when I was born. How are you here?"
"There was a miko, a woman who could pass through time. I came here with her and several of our companions."
"Then, you can go back for mother?" Shiva asked, her eyes widening with hope as she stared at him.
He shook his head, bowing it as he saw her look of disappointment.
"We can not get back to the past, though we have tried. I do not believe I would if I could anymore. Shiva, I have taken a mate, I cannot go back to your mother. I have mated with the human miko I traveled with and am expecting a child in a few months."
He watched the expressions on the woman's face as they changed from sadness to surprise and to anger.
"You abandoned my mother," she accused, standing and stepping away from him. "You mated a human, a miko no less! How could you leave my mother and me like that?"
He stood, staying where he was as she took another step back from him.
"When I left to this time, I did not know of you. Your mother and I, we were not in love. We satisfied each others needs and I had not spoken to her since."
"I want you to leave," she whispered, turning around to walk away. "I do not want to ever see you again."
He watched with sadness as she walked away from him, her steps small and graceful. He could tell that she had inherited his stubborn nature. He turned to the other woman to address her.
"I will leave for now," he said, also turning to leave. "Let her know that I will be back. She is my daughter and I want to know about her, I want to be in her life. Also, let her know that I have enemies that may come looking for her. If anything should happen, I want to be notified."
He had left that day and has not been back since. That was a few months ago now and he thought that he would have to go and see how she was doing. Did he want to go to only be turned away? He was not use to being turned away. He wanted to know his daughter and see what he could learn from her.
He couldn't believe some times that he already had a child, a grown child, and had missed her whole life. He did not even know if she was mated and had children. Grandchildren would be certainly interesting.
Kagome smiled at her husband as they locked eyes, and then frowned as he lost his smile, seemingly looking lost. Kagome sighed, patting her swollen belly lightly. She doesn't know how it happened, but Kagome had fallen in love with the Lord of the Western Lands, Sesshomaru. Her once enemy was now her husband. They had completed the jewel three years ago and she had been stuck in that time after the completion.
Sesshomaru and Inuyasha fought together against Naraku and formed a friendly bond with each other after Naraku's disappearance, making Sesshomaru ask the group to live with him until Kagome could get back to her time. During that first year, Kagome had been trying to get over Inuyasha leaving her for Kikyou. Yes, Kikyou was alive again.
Once she found out that she wasn't Kikyou's reincarnation, Kagome had wished her back. Well, after that first year, she and Sesshomaru grew close. With Rin encouraging them, they mated the following year. Then, after only a few weeks of being mated, the jewel called to her. The well had been reopened.
Deciding to go back to her own time to see her family, everyone followed after her. Inuyasha and Kikyou were married with one child and another on the way. Miroku and Sango got together right before the final fight with Naraku and have three children, two were twins. Shippo and Rin were expected to get married in a few more years of course.
Kilala of course followed them here as well and had now gotten a human form somehow. Kagome believed it had something to do with one of grandpa's misread spells or something. After Sesshomaru had discovered that he possibly had a daughter, he spent many weeks looking for her. Kagome winced, remembering that day that Sesshomaru had returned home after meeting her. Sesshomaru had been most depressed ever since.
Sesshomaru glanced towards his wife and chuckled as she tried to rise, rushing forward as his mate struggled to sit up. He took her hand, swiping her to her feet.
"Sesshomaru," she whispered breathlessly, kissing his lips lightly.
"Kagome," he answered back, resting his head in the curve of her neck.
"You were thinking of her, weren't you?" She whispered, having noted his distant and sadden look.
He sighed, pulling back from her.
"I wish to go see her again, to see how she is doing. I want her in my life, my love," he whispered, holding her close.
"Then tomorrow, go and see her. See if she will accept you."
