Chapter 16
(One Year Later)
Padme was walking across the desert planet, as she held onto both Leia and Luke as she headed to the dome shape of the moisture farm's main house structure.
" But mommy am sleepy." Luke whined as he lifted his head off of Padme's shoulder.
" I know sweetie and am sorry that I woke you up but can you stay awake just long enough to eat your breakfast with grandma and grandpa, uncle Owen and aunt Beru, then afterwards you can go back to bed ok." Padme looked down and gave him a smile.
" Ok mommy I will try." Luke nodded and laid his head back down on her shoulder again and also giving her a sleepy smile.
" That is my big man." Padme smiled at Luke again, as she began thinking of Luke's father.
They finally reached the entrance of the dome and waited for them was Shmi.
" Morning Padme, hey sweeties did your mommy wake you up early so you guys could come home?" Shmi hugged Padme and then took Leia from Padme.
They all went inside the structure and found the rest of the Lars family sitting around the dining room table.
" They did not sleep well last night, Luke had an upset tummy, and he kept Leia up along with me too, and of course Sabe does not like being by herself while Obi-Wan is gone, he thought he felt some presences on the south side so he left yesterday to camp out there and see if the Tuskin Raiders where snooping around again." Padme sat Luke in his highchair while Shmi put Leia in her chair.
" He did come by early yesterday telling me that he thought he felt their presence on the South side am glad to have a man like him around to help out with the farm." Cliegg took a sip of his coffee and was also glad to have his Step-son's wife and grandchildren safely inside the main house.
" Oh dear, I hope that you are feeling better Luke." Shmi came over to Luke and gave him a kiss on his cheek.
" I do feel better Grammy, and now am hungry." Luke smile at his grandmother.
" Do you guys have your lists of things that you want me to get while I am in Mos Eisley getting my things for the next three weeks." Padme sat down at the table between Beru and Leia.
" You really do not have to get our stuff for us Padme, you are always do so much for us." Cliegg smiled at the younger woman.
" I know, but it is my way to say thank you for everything that you and your family has done for me and the kids." Padme looked at the older man who was sitting at the head of the table.
There is one thing that she is not telling them, and the real reason why she is going to Mos Eisley, it was the day before, just after she arrived at the other homestead she received a message from Rex and he told her that he needed to see her and need for her to meet him at a hanger bay in Mos Eisley.
The family all sat around the table and talked about harvesting some water that Cliegg will take to the Market this weekend so he can sell some of it, as Shmi will sell a few pies and cakes that she has made, while Padme, Sabe and Beru sell a few blankets, pillows and clothes that they had made.
" Oh my it seems that they could not stay awake." Shmi looked at the twins and saw that they had fallen asleep before they finished eating their breakfast.
Shmi and Padme took the twins to their beds and put them down in the beds, so they could take their naps. Padme got her things together then got the lists from Shmi and Beru before walking into the garage and got into the family land speeder and headed off for the space port.
Once in the space port Padme headed to the market place and began picking up the things that were all on the three lists that she had, then once she was finished with the market place she got into the speeder and then headed for one of the docking bays that was on the outskirts of town.
Once inside the docking bay Padme parked the land speeder next to the unidentified shuttle.
" Milady, it is great to see you again." Rex came up to land speeder and helped Padme out of the speeder.
" Thanks Rex and it is so great to see you again too, is he here?" Padme gave Rex a quick hug before she realized that it was only her and Rex in the docking bay.
" Yes he is but at the moment he had some other business to tend too, but he should be back here very soon." Rex led Padme to the shuttle.
" I see, well I do hope that this will not take too long, because I need to get back home before the suns get to high up in the sky, and the kids will not let me out of their sight for a long time." Padme looked up and could see that the first sun was almost high in the sky.
" I understand and if he is not back in ten minutes then you can leave and I will let him know that you were here but had to go because of the twins." Rex sat down in one of the lounge chairs.
" Thanks I did leave them with their grandparents and they were asleep too, and if they wake up and find me not there then they will began freaking out some." Padme looked around the small room.
" I bet they have grown over the year since we saw them last." Rex smiled as he remembered the two one month old babies.
" Oh yes they have grown and they are walking and talking." Padme also remembered that the last time their father saw them they were not yet a month old.
They sat there and caught up with what had been going on with each other for over a year as they waited for the person who asked for Padme to come here, but he did not show up.
" Well I really need to get going now Rex, but you know where we are, so please do not be a stranger." Padme realized that her time was up and she had to go before it got hotter.
" I understand and I will let him know that you were here but had to go because of the twins." Rex stood up and escorted Padme back to her speeder.
" Thanks Rex, I really had wish that you could have stayed with us, but I understand that you had to be with Him, now you take care of yourself." Padme got into the speeder and Rex hit the button that lifted the hanger bay door and the speeder sped off towards the Dunes and the moisture farm.
Padme got back just in time as the twins began to wake up from their naps, and they not only played with Cliegg and Owen, but they helped Shmi and Beru make cookies while it was Padme's turn to lay down for her nap.
A lone figure raced across the desert and canyons of Tatooine to get to the small clutch of dome shapes on the homestead.
As to not to set off any of the alarms the lone figure stopped just up on the bluff that over looked the North side of the farm.
Anakin walked up to the fence and using the Force he jumped over the fence and began walking towards the dome shape structure.
" Well this is a huge surprise, he is in the living room." the woman answered the door and was not really surprise to see the young man standing there.
" Hello Sabe thanks." Anakin walked into the stricter and lowered the hood of his cloak.
Walking into the living room and he saw his old Jedi Master sitting on the couch watching the Holo-net.
" Welcome back Darth Vader, and what do you have plan for all of us, was it to come back here to kill me or to turn me over to the Emperor." Obi-Wan never looked up from the Holo-net.
" I came here to take you back to Coruscant, but not to face the Emperor but to be a part of my plans to kill the Emperor and to also to help me to convince Padme to come with me too." Anakin looked down at the older man and just hoped that he would come with him.
" I see, but she is not here, and why do you want us to be with you?" Obi-Wan looked up and saw Anakin had aged a little since he last him, and that was over a year ago.
" It is time for me to fulfill my destiny and for you see the Emperor is dying and this will be the only time to destroy him once and for all." Anakin watched the older Jedi and saw a spark come into the man's eyes.
" And there is something else you are not telling me Anakin." Obi-Wan also saw that his Ex-Padawan and Jedi Knight was holding something back.
" Um . . . yes there is something . . . but it is mostly for Padme." Anakin went over to the chair and sat down and then took the glass of water that Sabe held out to him.
" I see." Obi-Wan nodded to Sabe as he too took the other glass that the woman held out to him.
" Ok I will tell you and maybe with your help she will agree to come with me." Anakin took a sip of the water.
" Ok so spill it." Obi-Wan turned off the Holo-net and watched the younger man take a couple more sips of water.
" It started three weeks ago, when I called on a Senator and told him of my plans to restore the Republic or a Government that is pretty close to it." Anakin looked at Obi-Wan and hoped that he would remember the one Senator who led one of the organizations that was against the Emperor during the Clone Wars.
" You talked to Senator Organa?" Obi-Wan looked at Anakin and almost choked on his water.
The only thing Anakin did was nodded his head and just left everything at that, and now he only hoped that he could get Padme to leave here and join him and hopefully the others to rebuild the Republic.
" And what did he tell you?" Obi-Wan finished his water and sat the glass down on the small table next to couch.
" Well he told me that he would get ahold of a few other people and try to convince them to join us in our movement." Anakin also finished his water and put the glass down on the small table next to him.
" Well then we need to go and see Padme now, before she goes to bed." Obi-Wan got up and picked up his glass and took it into the kitchen.
Anakin also got up and also took his glass into the kitchen.
They left the house and walked across the sandy yard until they came up to the main house.
" Obi-Wan is everything . . . oh my Anakin." Padme smiled at the older Jedi Master, but a shock looked came across her face when she saw the other person with the older man.
" Hey Padme, I am here to tell you that I came here to take you to Coruscant and I will not take no for an answer." Anakin looked straight at Padme and his eyes slightly turned from blue to an amber color.
" Um . . . Anakin I do not think that I . . . ." was all Padme could say before Anakin slightly pushed her out of the way and then pulled her down into the courtyard.
" You have to come with us . . . and you may also be meeting up with a few old friends." Anakin looked down at the beautiful woman standing in front of him.
" Really and who might they be, and why do you want me to go with you." Padme had a scared look because she had a feeling that she would come face to face with the one person who really wants her dead.
" Well because for starters it is time for me to fulfill my destiny and that is to finally rid the Galaxy of the Emperor, his time has finally come, and as for you and with the help of Senator Organa we are going to rebuild the Republic." Anakin just stood there and waited for Padme to answer him.
" Well you can count me in." was all Padme said to him.
Two hours later, after saying bye to the Lars family and telling the twins that they had to stay with their grandparents and when their job was done they will be back for them.
Then four people boarded the ship and headed for Coruscant, and headed for their destinies and that is to kill the Emperor and free the Galaxy from his slavery.
