Tokijin Manor was a magnificent estate, once belonging to Taisho Akuma's first wife and Sesshomaru's mother. Though, Kagome knew her brother in law hadn't stepped foot back in the place since his mother passed. He kept it up; fully staffed, but she was sure it was for his mother's memory more than his plans for future use. Until now.

She had to say when Inuyasha had first told her about the girl, Rin, she knew there had to be more to it than just Taisho dating a younger girl. And then her husband/mate had explained who she really was; Sesshomaru's mate. Well, that was what she understood through the laughing fit Inuyasha had while telling her. Then, about a week ago, Taisho had called her, asking if she wouldn't mind going over to Rin's apartment to help take care of Rin's more private needs.

She didn't really get to talk to her much during that time, as she was recovering; or Sesshomaru for that matter. However, now that she was strong enough and been moved to the manor, Kagome was called in to help her understand the ways of the demon world. So she found herself standing at the front door to Sesshomaru's estate.

"Good morning, Miss Kagome." Bokusenō greeted her.

"Good morning." She answered; handing her coat over. "How's your new mistress doing?"

"Miss Rin is doing quite well, miss." He answered. "She awaiting you in the lounge; I'll show you the way."

She nodded, following after him. "And where's Sesshomaru?"

"He's working the study, miss. Should have need of him, please do not hesitate to call me."

She rolled her eyes. Look like not everything changed; Sesshomaru still found humans in contempt. She wouldn't be surprised if Taisho forced him to call her to help with Rin's transfer into the demon world.

Bokusenō knocked on a door, opening when a small voice called for him to enter. "Miss Rin, Miss Kagome is here to see you."

"Oh…umm, thank you, Bokusenō."

He nodded, waving Kagome in with a reminder to call him should they need anything.

Kagome agreed before joining Rin on the couch beside the fireplace. "Good to see you again and with color in your face as well."

The girl nodded, smiling. "Yes, I'm feeling much better, Miss Kagome."

"Oh, please just Kagome, only the servants insist on calling me Miss."

"I noticed." Rin answered, leaning forward to pick up a teapot from the table. "Would you like some tea?"

"Yes, thank you." She took the cup. "So how are you settling in here at Tokijin Manor?"

"The place is lovely." Rin frowned, looking at her hands folded over a small box resting in her lap. "But I don't think I can do this?"

Placing the box in the back of her mind for a moment, Kagome focused on easing the young girl's mind. "I'm sure you'll do just fine after you get the hang of things."

"But I don't know the first thing about running a staff, how to act proper around businessmen, or even how to be a mate to a demon. Sesshomaru explained a little to me, but…I just don't want to disappoint him by messing something up."

Smiling, Kagome patted her hand. "I felt the same way when I was first mated to Inuyasha. I didn't grow up in the same lifestyle as he did, with all the money and staff or with my life out there for the whole world to see. Not to mention being human." She giggled. "I thought I would be the biggest disgrace they had ever seen. But I had Izayoi to help me and you know what; it wasn't so bad. I went for it and if I messed up, I learned from it."

Rin sighed, "I still don't know. Mr. Taisho has told me how different Sesshomaru and Inuyasha are."

"That is the understatement of a lifetime. Those two are as different as ice and fire." Kagome sighed. "I don't know how much Taisho told you about his sons, but Inuyasha is a half demon, so that sets them off right away. He and I aren't great friends either; Sesshomaru is not fond of humans."

"Mr. Taisho explained it to me."

"Don't get me wrong, Rin. I mean you are his mate and that makes a difference." Kagome assured "But that doesn't mean he'll start accepting humans or our way of thinking. Which is why I'm here to help; Sesshomaru isn't the only one who has animosity towards humans. Though I'm sure as you're his mate, he won't let anyone disrespect you. It would be like disrespect towards him as well and everyone thinks twice before doing that."

Rin nodded, not sure if what she said would be true. Sesshomaru was like water, hot one minute and cold the next. "Do you and your mate get along?"

Kagome laughed. "Oh, heavens no, we fight all the time, but we love each other very much and work through it. Just like you and Sesshomaru will, though I say you're doing just fine right now."

Rin lowered her head. "He doesn't talk to me much."

"You said he explained a little to you, right?"

Rin nodded. "He explained how mates are matched by scent and the mark he gave me when…" She blushed remembering their first time which brought up the memories of last night as well as earlier that morning. "Well, it shows that I'm his to other demons."

"What else did he explain?"

Rin thought back, trying to remember everything he had said while he had ravished her into a pleasurable haze that morning. "He said he was Alpha; his commands are law."

"Yes, that is true, especially when around other demons." Kagome added. "For most demon species, the male is always Alpha while the female is the Omega. It's the Alpha's duty to provide and protect for his Omega, while the Omega is to serve and cherish her Alpha. The biggest thing to remember when it comes to this is don't get overly friendly with other males who are not family members; though he might not care that much. Some demons do, while other just wants their mates to do their duties."

Rin nodded. "Sesshomaru explained my duties as his mate." She whispered, already feeling her face grow hot again.

"Let me guess, something about pups, right?"

She nodded, glad she didn't have to say the words Sesshomaru had used.

"Male demons are all about continuing their blood lines." Kagome sighed. "He didn't happen to say how many he was wanting? Inuyasha wants 10 at least."

"10?" Rin thought back. "I don't think Sesshomaru said how many he wants."

"Well, most just one or two, at least one male for sure." Kagome sighed. "Either way, what about running the household? Most males don't care what their mates do as long as everything runs smoothly."

"He doesn't want his study bothered." Rin pointed out. "Only Bokusenō is allowed to tend to it."

"Figures; a businessman through and through." Kagome nodded. "So besides the study, you have full run of the house, huh? Must be nice. Inuyasha wanted his meals at a certain time, his TV channels not touched, the list went on. He's complaining that I want to remodel the den."

Rin smiled. "Kagome, can I ask about these events we will have to go to?"

"Oh, yes, your first one will be with me tomorrow; it's just a small tea party with some of the other females in the business world."

"Tomorrow?" Rin wasn't sure if she was ready for that.

"Don't worry; its mix; demoness and humans. I know most of them."

"I don't know if I have anything to wear…"

"Oh, I'm sure we can find something suitable." Kagome stated, setting her cup down. "By the way, what's the box?"

Rin frowned, reaching for the lid. "Sesshomaru gave it to me this morning; he got me on his accounts at the bank, a new cell phone, and well…this." She held up a smaller box, opening to show Kagome.

"Oh my!" The girl squealed, taking it to get a closer look at the brilliant ruby ring. "Sesshomaru gave this to you?"

"It was in the box." Rin explained rubbing her neck as she felt her mark growing warm.

"I don't believe it." Kagome breathed. "I just can't believe it."

"What's so hard to believe?"

The girls' head snapped around to find the tall, elegant demon striding into the room.

"Well, hello to you too, Sesshomaru." Kagome smiled, holding the box out to him. "I always thought you were above human sentiments?"

Taking the box from her, Sesshomaru moved to sit on the arm of the couch behind Rin. "My mate is human, Kagome." He took the ring, lifting Rin's hand to slip in on, before kissing her fingers. "I do hope the lessons are going well."

"I was just explaining what you have already told to me." Rin whispered when Kagome didn't answer.

"Understandable." He answered with a smile at the reminder of his teachings that morning. "Then I shall leave you to finish; don't get worn out." He gave her one last lingering kiss before strolling from the room, shutting the door behind him.

Kagome stared, opened mouth. "How…what…" She blinked, not really believing what she saw. "You got to tell me how you did that."

Rin frowned. "What do you mean?"

"Rin, that man is known as the ice prince of emotions." Kagome gasped. "He rarely shows any kind of emotions and if he does, it's always out of anger, dislike, or annoyance. And since I have known him, he has never smiled; I mean never."

Rin blushed, "That's something good?"

"Rin, you did something no one thought possible." She exclaimed. "He got you a ring; something only humans think important; and he did it for you, because of you."

Rin looked down at the ring on her hand. It fit perfectly, despite never have been fitted for one. Had he really gone to all the trouble just for her? Did he really have some feelings towards her, besides lust?

Koga sighed, leaning back in his chair. Every file he went over hadn't been any help. He just couldn't figure out where Rin was during those missing years. She was on the street one day, then the next she was gone only to show up working some temple 12 years later, and she wasn't even there that long before disappearing. Over the next few months, she popped up in random jobs, never staying more than one or two weeks before moving on. There was no pattern either; like she was running from something or someone.

"Come on, where were you?" He asked out loud to the picture in her file. He groaned, rubbing his face. Reaching over he pulled the new file Inuyasha had sent over at Taisho's order. It had a bunch of information on Naraku's purchase. "Medical supplies?" He flipped through it, spying another payment to a doctor. "Kaijinbō?" Setting it down, he started digging through his other files; pulling one out to read. "Suspected of illegal mating experiments…oh damn!" He grabbed his phone, dialing Taisho as quickly as he could.

…}{…

Sesshomaru was working away in his study when a knock sounded. "Enter."

"Sir, Miss Kagome has left for the day." Bokusenō announced, bowing to him. "She informed me that she will be back tomorrow afternoon to prepare Miss Rin for a Téa Party. Is this correct sir?"

Sesshomaru frowned, never remembering agreeing to allow Rin of the manor without him. "I will handle this, Bokusenō. Your orders are the same."

He nodded, bowing before heading to the door.

"Bokusenō, where is Rin now?"

"She's still in the lounge, sir."

"Thank you and dinner?"

"Almost ready, sir."

He waved him off, leaning back in his chair. He still had a few files to finish, but since making her his mate, he had always taken meals with Rin. He knew it wouldn't always be that way, but…

"Go to Mate."

"We have work to do."

"Work later, mate now."

"Why are you being so difficult?" He groaned.

"Why you?" His beast sneered.

"We have things to do first."

"Do later, mate now."

Sesshomaru sighed; his demon was getting more talkative with each passing day. "No."

"NOW!"

"We have to finish these files."

"Finish later, be with mate now."

"We have a duty to prove for our mate."

"Proved enough, want mate."

"We will not fail in our duty!"

"Mate lonely, need comfort."

"She's fine, Bokusenō will be speaking with her now."

"Stressed."

"I sense nothing."

"Sense what you want." His beast growled. "Mate needs us, go now."

Sighing, Sesshomaru stood. "Fine." He growled as his demon started purring again. He couldn't understand how one female; a human female; could cause his demon to act in such manner; it was like a little puppy demanding its mother.

Walking down the hall he paused, starting to sense what his beast was trying to explain to him. Bokusenō was speaking with Rin about the responsibilities of the household. He was asking if she would like to change the menus; any special meals she would like prepared; suggesting a private maid from the staff, and so on. Sesshomaru could very well smell the anxiety coming off of Rin as she tried to answer his questions.

"I think…everything looks good, Bokusenō."

"If the menu is to your satisfaction we can move on to the mail; his lordship has many invitations that need to be seen to."

He walked in, causing the two to turn to him. Rin seemed a little fearful at the sight of him. "That'll be all for now, Bokusenō." He ordered, causing Rin to drop her head.

"Yes, sir." He bowed, about to leave the room. "Will you be taking your meal with Miss Rin then, sir?"

Sesshomaru nodded, keeping his eyes trained on Rin, who was shifting around on the couch under his gaze.

"Very good, sir."

Sesshomaru waited until the door was shut behind the demon before making his way over to Rin, who still had yet to meet his eye again. "You're getting tired."

Her head snapped up, "No, I'm fine…"

He sat beside her, relaxing back against the arm, staring at her. "Come here."

As if not understanding, she moved to stand beside him. Sighing, he pulled her down so she sat in front of him between his legs. "After we eat, I want you to rest." He ordered, moving her hair to the side to start rubbing her shoulders.

"But I still have so much to learn and oversee." She protested. "Bokusenō said I still have the mail to go through, staff reviews, I have to choose a personal maid…"

He growled, pulling her back against him. "My command is law, remember."

Stiffening, she nodded. "I don't want to disappoint you."

He smiled, wrapping his arms around her, nuzzling her neck where his mark was still forming. "You are still recovering, Rin. This house has managed for years without anyone; a few weeks or months will not harm anything."

"But no one was living here then…"

"I will tend to the staff reviews and mail." He stated. "For now, I want you to relax."

"Do I have to have a personal maid?" She asked, causing him to chuckle.

"Not if you don't wish, but it would make things easier for you. You will have a lot to tend to soon."

She sighed. "I don't know if I can this."

"You'll do just fine; this is your home now." He answered.

"But it isn't…I wasn't raised like this, Sesshomaru." She explained. "My parents died when I was young and I was placed in a foster home that didn't really care about me. I ran away and lived on the street for a while until…" She paused, taking a deep breath. "A man came, offering me a job and a place to stay, but it turned out…"

Sesshomaru remained silent, realizing she was talking about her time with Naraku.

"It was all a lie." She cried. "I was locked in a cell and painfully jabbed with needles. I never the saw the outside; never allowed to speak; barely given any food or water; it was a living nightmare. I thought I would never be free again. I had almost given up when someone left the door to my cell open. I was able to escape, barely. An old priestess tried helping me, when some men showed up asking about me, I knew I couldn't put her in danger. Since then, I have been running; hiding; so afraid that man would find me."

He tightened his arms around her. "Do you know who he was; the man you kept you?"

She shook her head. "He never said his name, no did. All they talked about was making something work. There was also a woman, she was always complaining about going through tests and…something about no one wanting me."

Sesshomaru frowned, pulling her closer to him. He had been so close to gaining the proof Naraku was behind all this. With it, he would have been able to confront the man and end it all without getting Rin too involved. He would have to keep investigating while making sure she was kept safe. "You don't have to worry about him anymore, Rin. As your mate, I will keep you safe."

Long day, so I'll make this quick.

I'm glad you are enjoying it.

Leonhart9:

Yes, Rin knows what he looks like, but doesn't know his name. As for Sesshomaru's beast, he will be around for a long time.

Taraah36:

Oh, Sesshomaru will protect her, when he finds out, that is.

Guest:

I'm pleased you enjoyed it.

What would the point be if she didn't at least worry over it?
