It's Tuesday afternoon when Riley walks into 15 Division
Traci: hey welcome home
Riley: hi have you seen Frank today?
Chris: yeah he's around here somewhere, great to have you back
Sam, Oliver and Noelle walk into the bull pen
Sam: Riley how are you doing?
Riley: I am ok
Noelle: welcome back
Frank is now up in his office and he motions for her to join him
Riley: please excuse me
She goes up to Frank's Office
Frank's Office…
Frank: Lt. McNally welcome home, we need to talk
Riley: that we do, I am taking the steps to take my life back and I am requesting a leave of absence. I am enrolling in Last Chance my behavior before I left was inexcusable and I am very sorry for how I behaved
Frank: I am glad to hear that you are taking an initiative what do you want me to tell everyone?
Riley: Sam and Oliver already know and the others don't need to except I am dealing with some personal business
Frank: alright I expect weekly updates and I hope you know that you can come to me with anything. Let me know if there is anything I can do
Riley: thank you and I will
Frank: best of luck to you
Riley gets up and walks out of his office and she goes back to the others who are still standing in the bull pen
Bull Pen…
Sam: everything alright?
Riley: yeah
Noelle: so when are you coming back?
Riley: I am not
Chris: why what's wrong?
Riley: it's nothing for you to worry about see you all later
She turns around and heads for the front of the station and she goes for a ride
Noelle: do you two know what's going on?
Oliver: sorry can't tell you
Sam: no idea
Traci: how was she at the funeral?
Sam: a mess she just lost her mentor
Noelle: we got to get back to work
She goes to walk past Sam and he cries out in pain
Traci: are you alright?
Sam: cracked some ribs is all
Noelle: how?
Oliver: Riley kicked his ass
Sam: gee thanks
Oliver: while it's true
Noelle: see you boys later Chris you with me today
Chris and Noelle head out to the parking lot leaving them standing there
Traci: what about me?
Oliver: your with me today in booking
Traci: ok
They go off to booking while Sam goes about his own work
Over at Tommy McNally's House…
Tommy: Andy honey when do you go for physical therapy?
Andy: tomorrow morning
There's a knock on the front door
Tommy: coming
He goes to answer the door and Riley is standing there
Riley: hey dad
Tommy: Riley where's Kayla?
Riley: She's staying with the Shaw's for a while
Tommy: so what brings you by?
Riley: wanted to see how you and Andy are doing?
Tommy: Andy is better been going to physical therapy and is seeing someone and I am good too
Riley: that's great I should be going glad everything is going well
Tommy: how are you doing?
Riley: ok, Sam and I are on hold right now other than that nothing new has happened
She gives her dad a hug and then leaves. He closes the door behind her and Andy comes out of the living room
Andy: she sounded well
Tommy: you should really talk to her, she is your only sister you have
Andy: that is not going to happen anytime soon she left just like mom left when we were younger. I am sorry there is no forgiving that
Tommy: ok I tired
Andy: well don't
They go about their business while outside Riley goes down to her motorcycle and she drives over to Lake Ontario
Lake Ontario…
There are several couples sitting on blankets around the shoreline when Riley pulls up and gets off her bike and she removes her helmet. She walks down to an open spot and sits down on the sand
Riley: what am I going to do?
Dr. Dylan Stevens walks up with a toddler in his arms
Dylan: do you always talk to yourself?
Riley: hey what are you doing here? I do and that's why I am seeing a shrink
Dylan: ha your not funny and I am spending the afternoon with my son
Riley: hi what's your name?
Dylan: Riley I would like you to meet my son Tyler, Tyler this is Riley a friend of your daddy's
Tyler breaks out into a giggling fit
Riley: Hi Tyler nice to meet you
Dylan: how was Dallas?
Riley: ok I got some new art
She removes her leather jacket and lifts up her right sleeve revealing her new tattoo
Dylan: nice
Riley: please sit down and join me
Dylan: are you sure?
Riley: I wouldn't have asked it I wasn't
Dylan sits down with Tyler in his lap
Dylan: so what brings you here?
Riley: just struggling to find out where I belong, where I lost myself and how I am going to find myself again
Dylan: hang in there and you'll make it
Riley: thanks where is Tyler's mom?
Dylan: she was killed in a car accident about a year ago by a guy who was drunk he blew a .32 and he walked away without a scratch and Tyler lost his mom
Riley has tears falling
Riley: I am very sorry to hear that
Dylan: yeah me too, but we are doing ok, you know you've got to move on with your life right
Riley: yeah
Dylan: so what has been going on with you talk to me?
Tyler giggles
Riley: well a lot but nothing I am ready to talk about just yet. He's so cute how old is he?
Dylan: he'll be 2 next month
Riley: awe how did you hear about Dallas anyway?
Dylan: I saw it in the paper
Riley: what am I a charity case now? No thank you
She gets up and goes over to her bike, Dylan gets up with Tyler and they run over to her before she leaves
Dylan: hey wait up that's not what this is at all
Riley: then what would you call it?
He leans over grabs her head and kisses her with no reservations, when he's done she's left standing there speechless
Dylan: I have been wanting to do that since I first saw you get off your bike. I love a women in leather
Riley: wow I don't know what to say exactly
Dylan: say you'll have dinner with me tonight? Unless that's a problem
Riley: no problem I would love to have dinner with you
Dylan: alright see you at 5:00 what your wearing it great
Riley: where do you want me to meet you?
Dylan: how about I come to your house
Riley: you got it see you there
He gives her a quick kiss and he takes Tyler while she gets on her bike and heads over to the Shaw Residence. Not noticing Frank and Noelle standing over by the dock
Over at the Dock…
Noelle: what was that?
Frank: not sure but I hope she gets herself together or she's gonna loose everything
Noelle: what do we tell Sam?
Frank: nothing it's none of our business what she does with her personal life as long as she does her job
Noelle: but he's our friend
Frank: let it go hon, we need to get back to work and let things take their course
Noelle: alright but if he asks I am not going to lie
They finish what they are doing and they head back to the division
At the Shaw Residence… It's around 4:00 pm
Riley has stopped by to visit with her daughter
Zoe: what are you doing here?
Riley: thought I would stop by and see Kayla before I go on my date tonight
Zoe: how is Sam?
Riley: it's not Sam it's someone new
Zoe: how are you doing overall? How does Sam feel about this?
Riley: I am doing good and what Sam feels is besides the point we are not dating right now so it's none of his business
Zoe: he's our friend too and we don't want to see him get hurt. He loves you so much I thought you were happy with him
Riley: I can't do this and be with him right now
Zoe: so your going out with random guys
Riley: where is my daughter? Please get her things together we are leaving
Zoe: she's watching TV in the other room we should talk before you do something your going to regret
Riley: oh wait I already have so if you could please go and get my daughter and her things so we can go
Zoe: what has happened to you?
Riley: absolutely nothing Kayla honey come on were going home
Kayla comes running out of the living room into the hallway
Kayla: mommy
Riley: hey baby you ready to go home?
Kayla: yeah
Zoe: your not taking her on your motorcycle that thing is dangerous
She grabs Riley's arm hard and does not let go
Riley: let go of my arm now
She is screaming when Izzy comes down the stairs with Kayla's suitcase
Izzy: mom what is going on?
Riley: oh good thank you for bringing that down. Kayla and I are leaving and your mom here seems to have an issue with that
Izzy: mom let her go
Zoe: stay out of this honey
A cab pulls up outside and honks it's horn
Riley: Izzy could you take Kayla and her suitcase outside to the cab please Emily is in it and will take Kayla home
Izzy: alright come on Kayla honey
Kayla: mommy
Riley: baby go and I'll be right behind you
Izzy takes Kayla out to the Emily and the waiting cab
Zoe: you need to get some help fast before someone reports you for child neglect
Riley: if you do not let go of my arm you are going to need a hospital very soon
Zoe: you are an unfit mother and I am going to fight you for custody of Kayla she needs a better mother than you
Riley snaps once again
Zoe still does not let go of her arm and Riley swings her fist around cold cocking Zoe. Knocking her into the front door and she is rendered unconscious. Izzy runs over to her mom when she sees what happened
Izzy: mom what did you do?
Riley: she was told to let go of my arm, call the police and an ambulance
Riley waves to Emily motioning for her to take Kayla home. She then takes out her phone and calls Jordan
On the Phone…
Jordan: hey Riley what's going on?
Riley: I am in serious trouble I need you
Jordan: I am on the next plane out see you in a while
Riley: thanks
She hangs up the phone
Izzy: nothing is going to be the same after this
Riley: yeah and what ever does happen you know I love you and I am always here for you remember that
Izzy: I love you too and I know
The ambulance and 2 cars pull up to the scene, 1505 and 1530
Chris: Lou what happened here?
Riley: she grabbed me and refused to let go, so it was self defense
EMT #1: she's out cold
Chris: this is insane your family what happened to you?
Riley: touch me and you will be joining her
Chris goes to grab her arm and she steps out of his reach, Sam and Oliver pull up in 1515 and race out of the car and unto the lawn where they are standing
Oliver: what did you do to my wife?
Izzy: dad she was defending herself mom grabbed her and refused to let go
Oliver: so she knocks her unconscious?
Riley: all I did was come to get my daughter and she assaulted me not the other way around
Sam: where is Kayla now?
Riley: Safe now I will follow you to the division but touch me and you'll be joining Zoe or you will be in a body bag
She goes over to her motorcycle and she starts it up and she heads for 15 Division
Oliver: she's completely checked out, I was my hands of her I no longer know who she is any more
Sam: something must have happened, Izzy do you know what it is?
Izzy: no I do know that they were arguing but I didn't hear what it was about the next thing I know is that mom grabbed her and did not let go and then Riley hit her
EMT #2: who's going to the hospital with her?
Oliver: her daughter and I come on lets go
They get into the back of the ambulance and they go over to St. Victoria's Hospital
Sam: we should head back to the division and talk to Frank this has gotten way out of control
They get in the cars and they head back over to 15 Division
15 Division it's around 4:30 pm…
Riley is sitting in one of the interview rooms with Traci giving her statement
Traci: alright it seems you acted in self defense, but don't leave town anytime soon and your going to need a lawyer
Riley: I wasn't planning on it and I have one on the way thanks
Riley's phone goes off and she hit's the ignore button there is a knock on the door
Traci: come in
Frank: I need your service weapon and badge
Riley: I don't have them I turned them when I left before Dallas
Frank: alright sit tight
Riley: I need to make a phone call can I do that please?
Frank: sure
She gets up from the table and leaves the room to make her phone call
Out in the Hallway…
On the Phone…
Dylan: hey baby I thought I was going to see you soon what's up?
Riley: can you come over to 15 Division I need to talk to you
Dylan: of course is everything alright?
Riley: not exactly see you soon
Dylan: bye
They hang up the phones and she sits down and waits for Dylan
Frank: I really hope you meant what you said the other day about getting help or don't bother coming back. Because if you don't get help you are no longer welcome here and you'll burned you last bridge
His phone goes off and he answers it
On the Phone…
Frank: hello
Oliver is calling from the ER
Oliver: I want her arrested my wife is in a coma, Zoe has a shattered checked bone, a broken nose and a dislocated eye socket
Frank: alright it will be taken care of
He hangs up the phone when Dylan walks in
Riley: let me guess?
Frank: yeah your under arrest for assault and battery with a deadly weapon
Riley: could you give me a few minutes, I mean where am I going to go right?
Frank: go ahead
She goes over to Dylan who looks concerned
Dylan: Riley what is going on?
Riley: I am not gonna make it to our date tonight
Dylan: do you need me to call you a lawyer?
Riley: no that's all taken care of but could you do me another favor?
Dylan: sure what do you need
Riley: I need you to go and check on Kayla at my house please she's with her sitter Emily
Dylan: alright I can do that
He wraps her arms around her and gives her a kiss on the cheek
Riley: I will try and explain everything when I get out of here I promise
Dylan: alright
Riley: give her my love and tell her I will be home soon
Dylan: you got it
He lets her go and she walks over to Frank who then takes her to booking for processing. Dylan goes to Riley's house to check on Kayla
Traci: do you know who that is?
Noelle: no but Frank and I saw her with him earlier
Traci: things are never going to be the same after this is it?
Noelle: no it's not
Sam walks into the division and over to them
Sam: who was that who just left?
Noelle: a friend of Riley's
Sam: I love her but Oliver is my best friend I don't know what to do anymore
Traci: so sorry Sam
Sam: so am I
Noelle: do we know what made her snap?
Traci: no she never said
Frank comes back out into the bull pen
Frank: everyone go back to work there is nothing left to do
They go about their business and he returns to his office
It's around 2:00 am when Riley walks in and Jordan stumbles in with her luggage in tow
Jordan: I am so tired
Riley: upstairs second door on your left make yourself at home
Dylan is asleep on the couch
Jordan: who's the guy?
Riley: a friend now go we have a long day ahead of us
Jordan: night honey
She goes upstairs while Riley goes over to Dylan and gently shakes him awake
Dylan: hey beautiful what time is it?
Riley: it's somewhere around 2 in the morning, could you come upstairs and hold me
Dylan: sure lets go
He gets off the couch and stumbles to get his footing and they go upstairs to her room
Riley's Room…
Dylan: are you going to tell me what's going on and how you ended up in this mess?
They lay down on her bed and he wraps his arms around her and she goes about telling her side of the story
Riley: well I went to get my daughter Zoe basically called me an unfit mother, loose and that Kayla deserved someone better. She then grabbed my arm and refused to let go and what pushed me over the edge she said she was going to fight me for custody of Kayla
Dylan: I am so sorry I think we should take this slow
Riley: I could not agree with you more
Dylan: I think you need to get a new shrink because this is unethical for us to have a relationship and you being a patient of mine
Riley: that sounds good to me
She falls asleep in Dylan's arms
It's 10:00 am on Wednesday Morning…
Riley is dressed and is in the kitchen making coffee, Dylan and Jordan are in the living room getting to know each other. Emily and Kayla are still sleeping
Jordan: we did not get to meet last night I am Jordan Mathews Attorney at Law and Kayla's godmother and you are?
Dylan: Dr. Dylan Stevens her former shrink nice to meet you
Jordan: same here now what are your intentions toward my daughter?
Dylan: I thought her mom left her when she was younger?
Jordan: she did and I am like a mom to her
Riley comes into the living room with 3 mugs of coffee and sets them down
Riley: where is the paperwork I need to sign?
Jordan takes out the contract and a pen and she puts it in front of Riley
Dylan: ok so what exactly is this contract about?
Jordan: it basically states that she is to enter the 30 Day Last Chance Program and complete it. It also says that she is signing temporary custody over to me she has to remain and stay sober for 6 months before I will consider giving custody back to her. Also there is a restraining order here for Oliver and Zoe Shaw. They are not to come within 500 feet of either Riley nor Kayla. They will also be getting a signed copy of this contract. Are there any questions before you sign?
Riley: do I need to complete the program in Toronto?
Jordan: not if you can find another location that has spots available you also need to clear it with Frank first
Riley: alright
Dylan is sitting there shock not exactly knowing what to say
Jordan: he doesn't know what happened does he?
Riley: no I have not gotten to that yet
Dylan: uh I guess we need to talk about a lot of things
Riley: if you don't want to hang in there with me through this I understand completely
Dylan: are you in this for the long hall?
Riley: yes I want to take my life back
Dylan: alright then yes I am
Riley leans over the table takes the pen and she signs the contract. She begins breaking down and Dylan puts his arms around her trying to comfort her
Jordan: when do you go and sign into the program?
Riley: shit what time is it?
Jordan: almost 10
Riley: I've got to go
Dylan: do you want me to take you there?
Riley: no I have to do this myself but thanks
She collects herself and she goes and leaves for her appointment
