"Coffee?"
"Oh, hi Jesse, are you ready for tonight?"
"Yeah, how about you?"
"I'm a little nervous. What if I forget my lines? Or I try and sing and just get booed? Or we get bad reviews? It would all be my fault!"
"Rach, Rach look at me. You are amazing. There's no one else I would rather be sharing the stage with tonight."
"But what if our chemistry makes things too awkward? Worse, what if we don't have any on stage chemistry? We've been avoiding kissing since that first time."
"Rach, we're going to be amazing. Breathe diva."
With the big scene approaching Rachel and Jesse found themselves to be very nervous. Both were terrified of kissing the other as they knew that if the chemistry was anything like the first time it would be breathtaking. The anticipated kiss was perfect; from the moment their lips met they knew this was their home. Home wasn't a place. New York may be incredible but home was the other person. Rachel was Jesse's home and vice versa. No matter who they dated that soft, tender kiss, filled with so much promise would always trump it. With chemistry so apparent the show received a standing ovation; the crowd and their fellow actors (except Kurt) believing this to be incredible acting.
After the show….
"You were fantastic," screamed a fan excitedly.
"Ms. Berry, will you sign my program, please?" requested another.
"Rachel, how can you not love Jesse? Isn't he just so dreamy," called out a third fan.
Frozen in place Rachel was glad when Kurt all but dragged her backstage again.
"Kurt, there's just one thing I need to do first."
"Of course Rach, come get me if you need anything."
Her feet walked almost subconsciously towards the stage. Being up there with Jesse had made memories come flooding back. Reminiscing of the two of them being together on a stage when they were dating all those years ago she began. Just before stepping on the stage Rachel heard the sound of soft chords being played and hesitated; until Jesse began to sing.
Jesse, thoughts
Hey there sad eyes
What's on your mind
Don't look so down
Give it some time
She's looked so upset since Brodie left. I can't help but feel responsible. As if it would work between us. I've hurt her way too much.
You don't have to be so hard on yourself,
I know the world can be a brutal place,
Please don't let it steal your smile away.
Is he singing this about me? No surely it must be about that blonde. I'm sure Kurt said they were just friends but as if he would care whether I was upset about Brody.
Cause when thew sky's the darkest
You can see the stars
And when you fall the hardest you find how strong you are
Close your eyes, rest awhile, it's been a long, long day.
So come on baby, baby have a little faith.
Let those tears fall, you gave it your all,
It's all you can do, I'll be here for you.
And there's go your cry, crushed on the ground.
Sometimes it takes a wall to tumble down.
For you to see who's gonna stick around.
I just want to hold her and let her know it's all going to be okay. I want her to be with me; not those stupid boys she chooses every time.
Cause when the sky's the darkest
You can see the stars
Cause when you fall the hardest
You find how strong you are.
Close your eyes, rest awhile, it's been a long, long, long, day.
So come on baby, baby have a little faith.
Sometimes it gets worst before it gets better
And it takes too much to be brave.
Sometimes it feels it will hurt forever
But when all the lights are yet to fall.
He told me once we were like burning stars. That my light could never go out; that we would shine to brightly together.
And when the sky's the darkest
And when you fall the hardest
You find how strong you are
Close your eyes, and rest awhile,
It's been a long, long day.
So come on baby, baby, come on baby.
Please don't give up Rach. I really, really want a future together. I just need to know you want it too.
And have little faith,
Have a little Faith
Oh
Have a little faith
Have a little faith
Have a little faith
Rach tried leaving quietly; tripping over a piano stool she didn't realise was there and attracting Jesse's attention.
There was silence for a few seconds than the only noise made was a soft "oh" from Jesse before Rachel fled the theatre.
A/N:
Sorry, it's been forever since I updated. I actually had forgotten all about my story attempts until someone recently followed the story, so now I'm updating. Sorry if this chapter doesn't live up to expectations it's a hard chapter to write since it somehow has to begin to bridge a closer relationship for our budding couple. Please review; I do read them all and they clearly do make a difference as I'm now updating. Also apologies for the length... It's a bit short! But it was a good place to leave it.
