Things are not the way you dreamed for

Chapter 18

"I'm... pregnant".

(Echo)

"Pregnant".

(Slow motion)

"PREG-NANT".

"prennant".

"WHAAAAA?!" (Arnold and Lila's mouths wide open)

Arnold's eye twitched. He was oh so sure he used protection before getting Helga in a situation like this. Wild thoughts surrounded him as he remembered when she told him her weird dream about having two kids, being pregnant, he was a bum alright and she was an alcoholic waste. Money was running out. This couldn't be happening. As he looked at her firmly into her eyes, he was looking for a desperate solution that would fix this. He didn't want to be a complication for her. She was moving away to Virginia with him, and that was final. Right? Right?

On the other hand, Lila was oh so sure Helga was just liying. She was, right? Right? Because if she wasn't then her plans were ruined and all the money Rhonda payed for her to take action was useless. And there here she was trying to split the couple and she was only going to buy all the coke and get high and stoned as fuck. Eyeying Helga she found out it was the whole truth. At least she was as nervous and crazy as all mothers in the world trying to tell their soon-to-be-forced-by-gunshot-husband she was having a baby.

Silence filled the room, which was normal in a hospital but not for Helga. Sure she was not happy at all to find Arnold a nervous wreck with no response.

"A-HEM!" she coughed.

Arnold snapped back to reality. "So-sorry...", he sighed softly. "It's just-Is this for real?".

"Yes, football-head father of the football-head baby", she smiled an anxious grin hoping for a good reception of the news.

"How come you know he will have my head shape? Maybe he or she will have yours?".

She sighed. "I just KNOW mother nature, dweeb. Sure it will be a pain trying to get it out. Maybe a cesarea or opening me like a chicken will do!".

Arnold stood there dumbfounded. He didn't know what to say. But suddenly he couldn't stop a heartful smile forming from side to side. Helga skipped a beat or two.

"Listen...", Lila interrumpted, her tone was shaky and serious. "I want no part in this shit anymore. If it's a lie-".

"Which is not! Doi!", Helga remarked.

"Ok, let's just say it's the truth. Here you go!", as she spoke she dropped her bag on top of Helga's bed. "There's like 10.000 dollars, Rhonda gave it to me. I was hoping you could do a clean spending for the baby while I go to rehab".

This time was Helga's opportunity to be surprised. She mouthed a "Thank you". Lila nodded and went away closing the door behind her, leaving Arnold behind and all attemps of conquering his heart.

As soon as Lila left, Arnold approached Helga with an impossible grin. They found suddenly kissing to no end. She was longing for a good kiss, and he wanted her sugar for no particular reason other than he was more in love with her. As soon as they parted, Arnold was holding Helga's hand for dear life. He squeezed it and touched her belly.

"We sure have to find the baby a name".

Helga shook her head. "There's no baby Arnold".

Shock bathed him as he suddenly was found glaring at her.

"You wanted me to get rid of Lila and this is the best way I found. I'm sorry.".

He just couldn't look at her. He looked at the floor in dissapointment. "I reaaally wanted one ya know", he pouted.

She put a hand over his shoulder. "Maybe another time, dear. We have plenty of years for you to get me tons of babies to fill the house".

Arnold chuckled. "Yeah, sure... Maybe I should marry you first...".

Helga gasped. "So soon? Why, Arnold, I'm so... flatttered".

Arnold lifted a hand over her face. He cupped her left cheek. "Yeah. listen, no offense but there's plenty of time to think of that too. I was just thinking, ya know.".

She sighed lovingly. "What's on your mind?"

"Maybe... maybe we should sell the boarding house and I can move to Virginia with you and-".

"Arnold..."

"-I can find a career and-".

"Arnold!".

"-and we can move all our stuff so no Rhonda, no LIla, or anyone busting through our doors-".

"Damn it! Listen up!", She screamed. Arnold perked up. "That's sweet of you. But the house is on trial. We can't sell it unless Princess Rhonda says so".

Arnold nodded. "That's the idea. We split half. Or we can make a bail out of it. I talked to my lawyer. If we sell, she doen't get anything. Not me, not the house, only money on her hand,", he pointed to his right hand. "Undeserving money, yeah, I know!", he looked at Helga glaring at him.

"Well, duh!", Helga replied.

"So we can have enough to buy a condo. Or maybe a room, something near the school.". He looked at her glare and he groaned. "C'mon Helga. I don't want to be locked inside a building living like a bum or a junkie bastard!".

Helga nodded. "Seems you took my dream too seriously". She chuckled.

Arnold smiled. "You have no idea.", He reached for her lips. "Still I want that child.".

Helga reached for his lips. "I know.".

Arnold took his head back. "So, whadda ya say?"

She woke up from her trance.. "Huh?"

"Move to Virgina... with you?".

"We have to sell the Boarding House":

He nodded. "We have to sell it".

They reached for their lips, trying to make a connection.

Someone came busrting opening the door flat making them jump.

"Hi, the door was open, and... Hey! Baby sister! How many times do I have to tell you no kissing in plublic?!".

Helga groaned. "Olga! What the fuck are you doing here?"

"Language, little lady!". A figure appeared behind Olga.

"Bob?!"

He was eating a carrot. "Where you expecting the easter bunny?"

She groaned. She pusshed Arnold aside. "No, I waas expecting to GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE!".

"Baby sister! Is that the way you talk to daddy?", Olga screamed.

"Where the hell were you when he kicked me out of house?!", Helga bellowed.

Olga looked at her, surprised, made a fade, and coughed. "I'm sure I was picking up daddy for a ride when I heard you were shot on your leg". She approached Helga, and sat on the bottom of her bed.

"So he didn't tell you anything?", Helga asked, surprised.

"Not a word".

"Young man, you sure have some explaining to do!", Bob scolded Arnold.

Arnold glared at Bob. "Sure, fine sir. When you explain all of us why you kicked her out of your house".

Bob looked troubled. "I-errr...I..."
