Chapter 7
I drove to first beach to be met by Jacob. His smile was big opening the car door helping me out. I smiled back lightly brushing my lips to his. Jacob scooping me up in his strong arms making the kiss deeper, and I held my hands around his waist.
"So you seem more cheerful." Jacob spoke softly brushing my hair behind my ear. I watched his eyes with a light smile.
"I'm just going to try and enjoy tonight." I spoke softly running my free hand down his bare chest.
I wasn't lying I did want to enjoy the night. The bonfire was already a blaze. I could see Quil bouncing Claire on his knee. My smile light up waving to the cute little girl. She jumped off Quil rushing to me.
Emily now resting in Sam's arms he was talking to the bump a big smile feeling every movement.
Jacob rushed to the food, and I hugged Claire.
I kneeled down
"Hay how's my favourite kido?" my hand cupping her face softly kissing her forehead.
She took my face kissing my nose.
"Quil is being silly." She spoke softly pointing to him, and then giggled.
I then stood up placing a hand on my hip.
"Should I punish him." I joked looking to Quil with a mischief grin.
"Yeah!" she clapped pushing me in Quil's direction. I started to run towards him, but then I felt Paul's arms around my waist lifting me up.
"I'm protecting the Pack." He laughed spinning me, and Jacob watched laughing.
Claire was still giggling with amusement as I watched the beach in a blur.
"Paul please. I'm gonna be sick!" I gripped my fingernails into his bare back feeling the movement slow down.
"Lou you're no fun!" he laughed placing me down, and I stumbled falling with a small thud.
"Lou, Lou. You ok?" Claire asked patting my back.
"I'm fine kido." I now hugged her carefully.
Now sitting in Jacob's lap I watched him slipping another hot dog into his mouth, he was laughing.
My hands still ripping pieces of my hot dog eating slowly.
"Come on Lou. You're so slow." Jared laughed cramming his fifteenth hot dog into his mouth.
I laughed looking to Kim; she was still on her first one too.
"Where's Embry?" I spoke to everyone looking around the bonfire. Jacob's body tense hearing me say his name.
It was the firth time I'd asked that question, and I could tell the others staring around.
"I think he went to walk along the water." Kim answered, and I got to my feet wiping my shorts off.
"Lou what are you doing?" Jacob's hand held onto my calf.
"I'm just going to see if his ok." I replied feeling his hot hand gripping my leg not letting go.
"His ok, sit back down." Jacob's voice took on a commanding tone.
"Jake. I'm just going to be five minutes." My plead wanting him to let go of my leg.
"Sit down please!" his tone more like the Alpha.
"Jacob, I'm not one of your Pack. You can't tell me what to do!" I tried to pull my leg out of his hand.
The rest of the Pack was glaring to Jacob.
"Maybe I should!" he spat, and I kick him sharp with my other foot. The pain in my foot made me bit my lip, and he let me go.
I didn't reply rushing away from him. Jacob had never been possessive before, but I just wanted to be away from him. The one I loves made me feel scared.
Walking down to the sea front I felt the tears rolling down my cheek. The full force of what happened hit me in one go.
Jacob didn't mean it; I just had to convince myself that. I needed to believe Jacob wasn't capable of being horrible to me. I was the centre of his universe; he was the centre of mine.
I felt the warm hand on my shoulder, and I turned to be faced with Embry.
"Louise. What's wrong?" his face even in the now darkness, still caught my full attention. I studied the texture of his skin; the way his hair even if cut short still looked silky to touch.
"Jacob and I, we had a fight. It was nothing." I choked out, but then he brushed a tear free from the corner of my eye.
"If it was nothing, why are you crying?" Embry held me at arms length so he could study my face better. "What you fight about?" he added brushing my hair out my face.
"He wanted me to not look for you." I finally replied, and Embry bit his lip.
"I think he knows." He added softly.
I knew what he was talking about, and I gasped holding my mouth.
"Embry." I spoke quickly trying to step away from him, but he noticed my slow movements.
"Louise are you ok?" he asked again more careful. I fell down pulling my knees close to my chest.
"I'm not going to make you pick." He said softly resting by my side. I watched his face.
"I don't want to pick⦠Jacob is everything to me." I rested my head on his shoulder feeling his arms hold me steady.
"I know. I can be the greatest friend you've ever had." He added kissing my forehead, and my heart skipped a beat.
I turned my face watching his; he leaned in resting his forehead on mine.
"The best." I whispered running a hand up his arm. Embry nodded light.
"What ever you need me to be." His breath warm on my face closing my eyes trying to block out all the fears in my head.
Then I moved my face resting on his chest, and he brushed a hand over my face taking deep calming breaths.
