Chapter 12
I now lay on a bed. I see Jacob above me brushing a hand through my hair. His eyes were soft, and his fingertip brushed against my cheek.
"Jake. What's going on?" my voice gentle.
Jacob taking my hand lightly and I see the IV drip. Then my eyes shot to Bella standing behind him.
Looking to her face for the first time, and I gasped.
Bella was beautiful in everyway. Her hair was still the soft brown, and her skin just like the other Cullen's.
"Bella…" I whispered feeling her move quickly to my side. "I hate to be a pain, but what is going on?" my eyes looking around the room.
Bella stepped back, and Jacob shrugged. I didn't understand the exchange. In the car I remember passing out, and now I was laying in a hospital bed, not in a hospital.
"Carlisle has you on a morphine drip." Bella spoke carefully. Jacob nodded as to give her permission to carry on speaking.
"The visions are building pressure inside you brain, and in time the pressure will." She stopped speaking, her eyes avoided mine.
"Bella just say ok, just bloody say!" Jacob barked loud, and his eyes filling with tears.
"The visions are killing me slowly." I added wiping a tear free from my own eye.
Bella's face turned to look behind her, and I wondered what she was listening to.
"Bella, I know what you're thinking." I placed my hand on her cold one. Her eyes snapped to my face.
"It's only your choice." She spoke lightly brushing a hair out my face.
Jacob shook his head violently, and he knew what Bella was suggesting.
"No, Bella NO!" his voice was breaking. I felt his eyes study my face.
I didn't know what I looked like, and I turned to face Bella.
"I can't." I simply said squeezing her fingers.
Bella stared to me, and then Jacob. Jacob kept pacing the room, and I turned to the machine a faint bleep to catch my attention.
"I need to speak to Carlisle." I said trying to sit up, and Bella helped me.
I felt weird being moved like an infant by Bella.
"I'll get him." She spoke lightly turned and left quickly.
Jacob sat by my side again, and his eyes caught my attention.
"Louise, why didn't you tell me this?" his voice broken and his fingers brushed my face more. The heat of his skin was making me feel lost.
"I didn't know, and I'm scared." I felt my hands tremble, and my thoughts went with his. This will be the last choice.
"Bella wants to change me." I spoke quietly, avoiding Jacob's stare.
"Bella asked me first." Jacob spoke holding my chin so I was looking at him. "I said it's up to you." He added.
I didn't know what to say, and I never thought of it. I shifted my weight, and Jacob helped me move.
"Louise, I'll love you what ever you do." Jacob's voice soft, and he leaned down kissing me lightly on the forehead.
Carlisle entered the room slowly, and he sighed. Jacob kissed me again, and then headed for the door.
"Carlisle, please tell me. How long do I have?" I swallowed hard moving myself more in the bed, and the IV pulled in my hand.
"Given the MRI scans I've taken." He pursed, and watched my eyes. "Two months." He was blunt, and I stared to the clock on the wall.
"And will it hurt?" I bit my lip feeling my skin crawl.
"Yes for three day, it will." He sat on the bed, and took my IV free hand.
"I meant dying." I felt the tears falling down my cheek, and he shook his head.
"No. Alice foresees a vision, and you will slip into a coma, and never wake up." his voice slow, and I nodded.
"Does Alice see me changing?" I watched Carlisle, and again he shook his head.
"You've not made up your mind, so the future can go two ways." His finger lightly brushed my temple.
"You don't have to be like us." His voice sure, and I nodded.
"I don't want to hurt Jacob." I simple said, and Carlisle nodded.
"I know you don't." he then watched my face. "If you do choose, I will try and make it less painful as I can."
I nodded watching the clock on the wall again. The seconds were ticking away faster.
"I…" I see the door open, and Edward entered lightly. "Read my mind." I smiled watching him sit closer to me. Carlisle now left us alone.
"So you really are torn." Edward said watching my face.
"Yes, I need to know Embry." I looked to the door. Edward's eyes followed mine.
"I know it's weird for all them." His eyes were soft on mine. "Yes it's not a strong imprinting. He doesn't have romantic feelings for you." He added watching my face.
"I know Edward." I then lightly punched his arm, and he smiled.
"So what you want to ask?" he brushed a hand down my arm.
"Is Bella happy?" I asked, but then he knew I was going to ask that question.
"Yes she is, and her self control was weird at first." He then turned to the door again.
"Jacob not giving you a break." I stated feeling a giggled escape.
"Yeah, he thinks you want to be turned right now." His face moved from the door, and then to my face.
"When I turned Bella, it was because she wanted it. I know that you only want to make everyone happy." He placed a hand on mine. I caught the sorrow in his eyes fully.
"Edward I don't know. I'm sixteen. I'm not meant to be dying."
Edward stood up, and then turned to the door. Alice peeked in with a small smile.
"Edward, Jacob's gone!" her voice careful, and I tried to get up.
"Why?" I gasped trying to get the IV out my hand.
"Louise, stay here!" Edward lightly pushed me back in the bed, and Alice shrugged watching him leave.
"Alice," I lightly moved on the bed, and she stopped me.
"His upset Lou, he doesn't want you to die, but." Her voice trailed off.
I couldn't help but raise an eyebrow. "I don't know Alice. I just don't know what I want to do." I then rolled on my side, and the throbbing in my temple started.
"Well I'll give you another does of morphine and just sleep Louise." Carlisle entered the room, and I nodded.
I just hoped Jacob would return, I didn't want to make the choice without him here.
