It was just a couple of minutes after Mr. Carlisle left the office that Lena returned, an ice pack secured between her hands as she opened the door, distracting her daughter's attention away from her own hands.

"So… what is the final verdict?" she asked as she walked across her office and sat in the chair next to Callie's, who was back at staring at her hands. Even though Lena's voice didn't sound angry or disappointed, Callie knew she was. She knew she would be if their places were reverse.

"I have detention after school today for being late," Callie replied after a couple of seconds looking up again to see Lena's reaction, but concentrating in the ice pack instead. "That's not really necessary," she added looking at the pack in Lena's hands.

"Figured as much," Lena said with a sad smile, preferring to ignore Callie's last comment as she handled her the ice pack. "Here love, give it a try, I'll help with the pain."

"It doesn't really hurt," her daughter replied inspecting it before putting it on her cheek for a couple of seconds before pulling it away. "It doesn't really hurt," Callie repeated turning slightly towards Lena. "May I go to class now?"

"It's a bit too late to go to your first class." Lena answered looking at her watch, and honestly, she wanted Callie to unwind before going to her class. "You'll stay here until it's time for recess."

"Okay," Callie agreed, not bothering to look up from her hands. Things had spiral way out of control, she knew after that morning that she was probably in trouble with her mothers, but now she knew for certain and all because of that stupid box in the bottom of her backpack.

"And I'm going to wait for you today, so please, after your detention please come here so we can go home."

"Maybe mom could pick me up when she's coming home from work," Callie suggested after a few minutes of silence, in an effort to cause as little distortion as possible to their usual schedule. "I mean, she normally pass through here around the same time detention is finishing and that way you could go home as normal."

"I'll ask her," she replied as the bell signaled the end of first period. "I'll text to you what we agree on, but now love, please go to class before you earn more detention."

Ok, I know that after so long without updating you deserve more than a few hundred words, but I could unite this with the next chapter. Plus I wanted to let you all know that I'm still alive, and I'm still planning on finishing this story, probably, the next chapter will be posted soon, if not I would like to apologize in advance. I'll continue to write this story and that is a promise that I make to you and to myself. Hoping to update soon,
