Chapter 9:
After showers and getting settled in the brothers all laid down in beds for the first time in a long time. None of them could even remember when the last time they got to sleep in a real bed was, it was a nice change for once. They for once didn't have to worry about one of them staying up to keep watch, and they all fell asleep before their heads hit the pillows.
Shadows lurked around every corner. Spinning around in an alley way trying to track the movement only succeeded in making him dizzy, adding to the sick feeling in his stomach. He wanted to run, he wanted to scream, he wanted to wake up from this nightmare, but all he could do was stand there.
A thump filled the air. He spun around to see nothing at all. He peered into the darkness to try to see anything that could have made such a noise. But all he could see was shadows.
Another thump came from behind him, he jumped and spun around again, only to see one lone feather. It shone white against the blackness around it. He took a step forward to get a better look at the only other presence than darkness.
He reached the feather. He twirled it in his fingers and watched as the feather smoothly spun and easily flicked away the air in its way. It was a pure white feather, but he couldn't identify from what kind of bird. It was almost as long as his hand.
As he continued to spin the feather it was slowly changing color. From the pure, pristine white it was turning red, a bright blood red. When the feather was completely red it felt wet and it dripped a small red drop to the dirty pavement below. It was blood, something was bleeding, dying.
The next morning Tim woke up to find a pristine, white feather sitting on the floor of his new room next to his bed.
They all walked down the stairs to the dining room with a large table with Bruce sitting at the head of it. They had to do a double take to make sure they weren't still dreaming. When they were sure this wasn't a dream they all sat at the table to see their breakfast was already sitting there waiting for them, courtesy of Alfred.
They all made small talk to avoid the awkward silence after last night…
"B-Bruce W-Wayne?!"
"Come on are you kidding with us?"
The brothers couldn't believe the world's most famous and all around loved monster was in the Justice League and one of its founding members. Bruce Wayne was one if not the most known to help monsters and humans get along, he also started a worldwide trend to hire well behaved monsters.
"No I am Bruce Wayne and I expect you not to tell anyone who I don't specifically tell you that already knows my identity," Bruce said giving them a serious look at the end.
"Wow I never would have guessed," Dick said.
"That's the point," Bruce said with a slight smile.
"Well, I'm Richard Grayson, but you can call me Dick. I'm a werewolf."
"Jason Todd, just Jason. I'm a vampire."
"Timothy Drake. Everyone calls me Tim…or Timmy if you really have to and I'm half angel and half human."
"Damian Al Ghul, half demon half human."
No one noticed how Bruce's eyes narrowed slightly at Damian after he said his full name.
"In a few days you will be going to the Young Justice HQ to meet up with other leaguers, then we will be able to ask you a few questions," Bruce interrupted all the thought trains.
"Huh?"
"So you really don't trust us," Jason grumbled.
"I trust you; you just have to prove yourselves to the rest of the league," Bruce explained looking them all in the eye.
"Alright, I'm in," Dick said.
"I'll go too," Tim agreed.
"Fine," Damian muttered.
"Well I can't let all you idiots go without me so count me in too," Jason gave in.
AN: So this chapter is still pretty short but at least its longer than the last one right? let me know what you thought. Till next time ;)
