It was about two in the afternoon, Weiss was sitting under a big tree in the nearby park. Ruby was running after a butterfly not too far away from her.

Taking her phone, she dialed Blake's number.

"Hello, Belladonna speaking" Came the quiet reply after the line was picked up.

"Afternoon, Blake. How're you doing?" She asked in a pleasant tone.

"Weiss, I'm good and you?" came the reply.

"The same as always. Do you have some free time tonight? I'll need your help with something."

"Hmm… It's rare of you to ask for help. Well, I can take some time off and meet you up. The same place as usual?"

"With this I prefer someone I know and trust to help me. And come by the apartment around six."

"Ok. I'll be there. See you in a couple hours. Take care."

"You too." She finished her call with Blake and called Ruby.

"Ruby, it's time we go back." The little one looked at her with a pout, clearly not wanting to leave just yet. Weiss smiled at that.

"Come on, I'll buy some Ice cream on the way, what do you say?" And with that, in an instant she was at her side, tugging on her hand eager for the treat.

It was almost six, when the doorbell rang. Weiss left Ruby on the living room watching cartoons to get the door.

"Hello Blake, come in" She stepped aside.

"Hey Weiss. What was it you wanted help with?" She went right to the point.

"Well, come with me to the living room" Weiss said with a small smile and a tone that showed she was a bit flustered. Blake thought it was strange, but didn't say anything and followed her, and what she saw surprised her. Sitting at the couch, there was a child with short hair with red tips, wearing black short shorts and a sky blue shirt. Her full attention at the cartoons on the screen. She looked at Weiss.

"Don't tell me you wanted help babysitting her." She asked with a blank face.

"No, it's not that" her cheeks getting a bit pink. "I want you help me with her adoption papers." She said in a low voice.

Blake looked at her with wide eyes, still trying to process what her friend said.

"You sure about this Weiss?" She asked, concern lacing her voice.

"I'm sure" Weiss answered, her eyes full of resolve. "I don't why, but I want to protect her, be someone she can feel safe with."

Blake was surprised, but smiled "Don't worry, I'll help you. And if you need anything, don't be afraid to come to me ok?" She hugged Weiss.

"Sure, I'll keep that in mind. Now let me introduce you." Weiss walked to Ruby and put her hand on the tiny shoulder, which made the girl look up to her.

"Ruby, this is my best friend, Blake. And Blake, this is Ruby." She smiled down at the girl.

"Hello Ruby, it's nice to meet you." Blake said with a small smile and was surprised when the girl's eyes met hers. She have never seen such beautiful eyes.

"Hi." Ruby said in a whisper, still a bit unsure around strangers.

Blake put her hand on top of Ruby's head and smiled. "Go back to your cartoons. I have to help Weiss for a bit.

Ruby looked at Weiss, who nodded at her, and then she turned her attention back to the screen.

"Let's go to the office, I have everything there. I wanted you to revise and see if everything was okay, before I sign all up. I don't want to mess up with this."

"Sure, shouldn't take too long." With that said, the two went to work.

One hour and a half later, they were finally finished.

"Finally, that's the last one to sign." Weiss sighed and looked at the clock.

"Shall we get some take out? I'm starving."

"Sure, how about some pizza?" Blake got up and stretched.

Weiss nodded in agreement, and walked out of her office. "Let's check on Ruby first."

When the two young women got to the living room, each one had a different reaction.

Blake contained a squeal and proceeded to conceal her giggles with her hand, while Weiss blushed slightly, but her eyes hold some kind of amusement.

Ruby was lying on the couch, her head on one of the cushions, with the jacket Weiss wore earlier in the day on her hands, with a satisfied smile on her face.

"Let's wake her up when the food arrive, so we can eat and watch some movies." Weiss decided, grabbing her phone.

A couple of hours later, the trio was sitting on the coach, already in the middle of their 3rd movie. Blake was hugging a cushion, Ruby had her head buried on Weiss' chest and Weiss was trying not to cry too at the scene. They were watching The Lion King.

A few moments later, they were able to calm down and Ruby was laughing again at the occurrences of the characters on screen. When the movie ended, Ruby was dozing off on Weiss' lap.

"I'll head to bed with Ruby, Blake. You're welcome to stay the night." Weiss said in a low voice, not wanting to wake the girl in her arms.

"Thanks Weiss. If you need me, I'll be in the guest room. Good night." She kissed Ruby on the forehead and waved to Weiss as she entered the room.

"Good night Blake" Was her answer, as she entered her room with Ruby.
