Well here's Chapter 16 as promised.

Chapter 16

Sarah's P.O.V

"I have decided to banish you to the Outlands beyond the Labyrinth from now till the end of the Underground."

An audible gasp from the crowd was what alerted Sarah to the seriousness of the Punishment and glancing at her friends' faces told her that the Outlands was not the type of place someone wanted to go to.

"Not the Outlands!" Hoggle cried.

"Oh yes Hoggle." Jareth snarled

"Wait!" Sarah cried, "What are the Outlands?"

"Outlands bad!" Ludo howled.

Jareth turned to face her.

"The Outlands my dear, are the lands that lay beyond the walls of the Labyrinth. A barren wasteland that goes on for hundreds for miles. It is a place where none but the most treacherous Villains are banished."

"Not to mentions the nightmares and beasties!" A small Goblin cackled.

"Nightmares and beasties?" Sarah asked hesitantly looking between the Goblin and Jareth.

"The Outlands my sweet Sarah is also the home of children's scariest nightmares and deepest fears."

Jareth answered her question. Sarah was still unsure of what meant.

"Every bad dream, everything that has ever frightened a child gets manifested in the Outlands. During the day they reside in the Outlands, hunting out those to who they can infuse fear and dread into. At night however they stalk through children's dreams or hide in the shadows of their bedrooms, instilling fear and terror into their hearts."

"But that's Horrible!" Sarah cried. "You can't send them there, you can't!"

Another gasp rose from the crowd at her words and anger filled Jareth's gaze.

"I think you'll find Precious," Jareth said through gritted teeth, "that I can."

"You promised you wouldn't hurt them!" Sarah bit back angrily. Jareth was in front of her in a second. His hands gripped the chair either side of hair caging her in as he leaned in close.

"Yes Precious I promised that I wouldn't hurt them. And I haven't, I have mealy banished them from my Kingdom. What happens to them beyond my Realm is no concern of mine."

Sarah was silent for a moment; she could see the anger glinting in his eyes and had heard it in his voice. He was right, he had agreed that his punishment would not inflict pain on them and it didn't, not directly at any rate. She thought back to what Jareth had said about the Outlands and its inhabitants. "During the day they reside in the Outlands, hunting out those to who they can infuse fear and dread into." If Hoggle and the others were sent there, the nightmares would hunt them. She wasn't exactly sure what the nightmares would do exactly to fill her friends with fear but she doubted it would be pleasant.

"I don't want them hurt." She whispered, tears filling her eyes. Jareth shut his eyes briefly and for a moment Sarah was hopeful that he would change his mind, when his eyes snapped open again she could see the cold determination.

"Don't defy me Sarah. You won't like the consequences." He pulled back and turned, motioning to the Goblin Guards, "Take them away," He ordered "we leave for Outlands shortly, the rest of you," he gestured to the crowd, "are dismissed." Jareth strode after his guards as they hauled her three friends form the throne room.

Sarah sat there stunned for a few moments not sure what to do, before jumping up a racing after them, her blue skirt swirling around her legs as she ran.

"Wait!" she called out as she rounded a corner and the group ahead came into sight. She hurried forward but was stopped short as Jareth grabbed her by the waist and held her back.

"Oh no Sarah you'll be remaining here!" He hissed firmly In her ear as she struggled to no avail to get free.

"At least let me say Goodbye to them!" she pleaded, Jareth hauled her around to face him. He paused slightly at the sight of her tear stained face before sighing and loosening his hold.

"Very well." He said, she was about to pull away when his grip tightened again. With one gloved hand he reached and caught hold of her chin forcing her to look up at him.

"But be warned Sarah," He murmured looking her straight in the eye, "Do not think to plot angst me with them." He released her and she rushed to her friends, thankfully the guards and stepped back giving them a little privacy.

"I'm so sorry," Sarah cried as she hugged her friend's in turn, "I had no idea what he had planned."

"Tis not your fault M'lady." Sir Didymus replied.

"Yeah it aint like yer could have stopped that rat." Hoggle muttered glaring daggers at Jareth over her shoulder.

"But there is still hope." Sarah whispered leaning in close to make sure Jareth didn't overhear. "Allana, the witch, she said she'd help you, take you somewhere where Jareth can't find you!" Sarah murmured glancing over should to see if Jareth was watching, he was talking to a guard but she could tell that he was keeping a close eye on them.

"We don't have much time, but I promise I will contact her, so she can get you away from the outlands and to safety."

"Sarah," Hoggle groaned giving her an exasperated looked, "the name of the Outlands scares anyone half ta death, no one not even a witch is gunna want ta willingly go there ta rescue us!"

"She promised to help us." Sarah insisted in a hushed tone. Hoggle only shook his head.

"M'lady do you trust this witch?" Sir Didymus asked. Sarah nodded, "Then I do too." The knight stated, next to him Ludo nodded his shaggy head.

"Ludo too." Sarah smiled gratefully at her friends.

"You're all mad!" Hoggle muttered.

"Hoggle if you won't put your trust in Allana to help you will you at least put your faith in me?" She asked softly. Hoggle studied her carefully for a moment, before speaking.

"Of course I trusts yer Sarah, I just isn't gunna get me hopes up."

"Thank you Hoggle," Sarah said, "I just hope she can help before anything bad happens to you."

"Do not worry M'lady, the nightmares can only make us see things that we fear, tis all illusion, they can cause no true harm." Sir Didymus told her patting her arm gently.

"Except drive us mad with images of our worst fears." Hoggle muttered, "Don't you worry Sarah, we'll be fine." On seeing Sarah's worried face.

"Promise me that you will be careful." Sarah begged.

"Sarah." Jareth called from behind her.

"Fear not M'lady, I shall smite down any who dare raise a hand against us."

"Ludo promise." Her giant friend reassured her. She turned to look at Hoggle.

"Can't be anything but careful in that place." Hoggle said, "But promise me something Sarah." "Sarah." Jareth called from behind her.

"What?" Sarah asked, ignoring Jareth.

"Promise that no matter what," Hoggle whispered, "that you'll never give into him."

"Sarah!" Jareth said again his tone more commanding this time.

"I promise." Sarah assured him. She reached in to give them a last group hug and kissed each of her friends goodbye.

Footsteps behind her announced the arrival of Jareth and the guards. She felt Jareth's hands at her waist again as he pulled her roughly away from her friends as they too were grabbed and hauled away down the corridor.

"I advise you precious, not to ignore me in the future and not to go around kissing anyone but myself. You are to be my wife and I don't intend to share your affection." Jareth hissed. Sarah wrenched herself free from his grasp and stepped away from him.

"You don't have any of my affection, especially not after this!" she spat. Jareth smiled wickedly

"I have not broken my promise Sarah; I have not harmed them myself."

"No, you've just banishing them to a place of nightmares." She snarled back. Jareth shrugged

"It was either that or keep them imprisoned for the rest of their days, and you seemed greatly opposed to that idea yesterday my dear so you rather left me no choice."

Sarah was outraged.

"Don't try to turn this on me!" she snapped angrily, "this is all you're doing, part of your twisted plan to get revenge on me and my friends! Well trust me Jareth you won't get away with this!"

Jareth just laughed at this and grabbed hold her pulling her towards him, smirking he leaned down till his mouth was next to her ear.

"In case you hadn't already noticed Precious, I already have." Sarah once again broke free again and glared up at him.

"I hate you!" Sarah retorted before turning on her heel and running away.

Jareth, still chuckling, watched her go.

"You may hate me now precious but you won't for long." He murmured before turning and walking away in the opposite direction.
