Special Chapter: Another Catastrophe

It was one bright morning in the Pokemon region known as Kalos. In a house somewhere in the region, a little bird Pokemon flew up a flight of stairs and attempted to open a door. After much hassle, it opened and the critter entered the room. It flew and landed on the window ledge and faced right, to find a young girl in her pyjamas, lying on her bed, sleeping soundly. She didn't seem to be showing signs of waking up at all. The little Pokemon then landed on her head and tried chirping out to her, only for the girl to cover her head with a pillow. However, as a last resort, the bird slightly raised its head and…

PECK!

"YAAAAAHHHHHHHH!" screamed the girl. "WHOA!" She tumbled out of bed.

She got up in annoyance and looked at the little Flecthling.

"Geez, I told you to stop waking me up like that, Flecthling."

She attempted to get even and lunged forward to catch it, but it flew right up and she falls on a table. The bird Pokemon landed softly on her head. Just then, the girl's mother called out from the kitchen downstairs.

"Serena, time to get ready!"

Serena could only grumble. The typical daily routine of Rhyhorn riding just couldn't be any more annoying for her.

"Coming! *grumbles* Not again." As she rose to her feet, she walked towards her windows and opened them. A sweet scent of fresh air and the sight of sun rays had made her feel at peace. At least until she would head down for her stressful and painful rodeo session with her pet Rhyhorn, who was currently resting in its Poke-house (A/N: I dunno, it's like a dog house). She called out to it.

"Good morning, Rhyhorn!" The Rock-type responded with a friendly roar. She stretched her body as she inhaled in the fresh air. Exhaling, she smiled and looked out the window. With the wind blowing slowly into her room, she took time to wonder,

"I wonder if today's going to be a good day."

~A day later~

In her room, Serena's bed was filled with an assortment of colourful hats. The young girl was trying out one at a time, but they all didn't seem to give her any results. As she tossed one of them away, she went for the two remaining hats; one a red cap and the other a pink hat. Suddenly, a few knocks on the door could be heard.

"Yeah, come in." called Serena. It was her mother and she opened the door to check on her daughter.

"Are you going somewhere?" asked Grace.

Serena picked up the two hats.

"Hey, mum. Which one should I wear?"

Her mother looked at the hats and faced the red beret.

"I'd go for that one." she pointed out. But as Serena looked at it, she turned for the other hat.

"Okay, this one then." The red cap is tossed out and on her head went the pink one. Her mother was confused by her daughter's picky actions.

"Serena, if you already knew what you wanted, then why did you ask?"

"Well, whichever one you didn't pick is the cuter one, that's why." Her Flecthling hopped to her in agreement of her choice of fashion.

"I see. So, anyway, where are you going?"

Serena stood up with joy.

"To Lumiouse City, to meet Professor Sycamore and get my very first Pokemon!"

~A few minutes later~

Outside her house, the excited girl exited her home and ran to her Rhyhorn and pet it.

"Well, got to go. Wish me luck, Rhyhorn!" she hugged her pet Rhyhorn as the Pokemon returned the embrace. Grace was watching her daughter prepare herself.

"So you know which Pokemon you want?" she asked. Serena nodded.

"Which one?"

"It's a secret." responded Serena.

As her hair swayed with the wind, she took another deep breath before heading off.

"Well, I'm off! Later!" She ran off to begin her journey as a Pokemon Trainer.

"Bye! Take care! And don't forget to practice your Rhyhorn racing!"

"I won't! Bye!"

As Serena disappeared into the scenery, her mother let out a sigh.

"Well, we'll just see about that."

-Lumiouse City-

As Serena walked across the streets of an unfamiliar place, everywhere she looked, there were lots and lots of Pokemon which she had never seen before.

"Wow! An Ampharos! And a Medicham! There's so many different Pokemon here. I can't wait!" Minutes have passed and Serena had arrived in front of a large building. From where she was, she could see a large indoor garden with various types of Pokemon, playing and socializing as if it was the wilderness away from the city.

"They sure look cool. I bet one of them could be mine." Suddenly, as she was walking to the entrance, she bumped into a stranger outside the entrance. The two fell on the floor. Serena let out a slight groan in pain.

"Oh no! Clemont, are you alright?" called out another female voice. A little girl rushed to the older boy's aid.

"*groans* Yeah, Bonnie. I'm fine." He got up and went to help Serena up.

"I'm so sorry. You okay?" asked Clemont. Serena got up by herself and adjusted her hat to the right position.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Thanks."

"Well, we must be off. Come on, Bonnie. Let's head on inside."

"Okay!"

"Wait, you guys are going to Professor Sycamore's lab too?"

"Why yes. We're just going in to get some new Pokemon for ourselves. My name is Clemont. And this is my sister, Bonnie."

"Hi!"

"Nice to meet you, my name's Serena. I'm just on my way to get my first Pokemon."

"Well then, shall we go in?"

"Let's go!" shouted Bonnie, excitedly. As they enter the lab, they see a group of adults, wearing lab-coats, discussing about some scientific stuff. (A/N~ some of you would probably know what the talk was all about) Walking further, one of the scientists turned to look at them.

"Excuse me, but we'll get back to our topic later." he said to his fellow scientists and walked towards the group.

"Welcome to my lab, young Trainers. I'm sure you're here to choose your very first Pokemon."

"That'd be me. I'm Serena." said Serena, hands to her back.

"Greetings, Professor. I'm Clemont, and here's my sister, Bonnie."

"Hi, Professor!" said Bonnie, loudly. Clemont shot a stare at Bonnie.

"Bonnie, how many times have I told you? Don't shout out to people like that."

"Sorry, Clemont." said Bonnie, embarrassed herself, but didn't hesitate to politely apologize to the Professor. "I'm sorry, Professor."

The professor just smiled. "It's alright, Bonnie. It's nice to have such youth in my lab once in a while. Now, I understand you need a Pokemon for your journey."

"Oh, that's right, I've came to pick up a certain Pokemon from here. I've recently contacted your lab."

"Ah, yes. They told me of it. Very well, I shall give you one of my starter Pokemon. Normally we'd give them to Trainers, like Serena, who start their Pokemon journey, but I'll make this an exception. Sophie, the Pokemon, if you please."

The group, however, was unaware that they were being watched by a mischievous little mouse Pokemon nearby. It watched on from the bushes as it munched on its favourite berry.

"Yes sir." Sycamore's lab assistant came with three different Pokemon.

"Wow! They're so adorable!" cheered Bonnie, who always had a love for cute little Pokemon, but she was too young to have a Pokemon for her own. She can keep them, however, under Clemont"s permission.

"Alright, Bonnie. You can choose what you think I can use."

"Okay!"

"Okay, first, we have Chespin, the Grass-type Pokemon. Fennekin, the Fire-type Pokemon. And lastly, Froakie, a Water-type." While the first two were excited, the Froakie was not so pleased at all.

Serena walks over to take her pick.

"I'll choose…

… Fennekin!"

"Alright, she's all yours."

"Fenne!" called the fox-like Pokemon as she jumped to her new Trainer's arms.

"Alright! My first Pokemon!"

"Okay, Bonnie. Go ahead." said Clemont. Bonnie walked over and wondered who to pick.

"Ummmm…. I think, I choose…"

Suddenly, just as Bonnie was ready to pick a Pokemon for Clemont, the lab started shaking rougly.

"Whoa!"

"What's happening, Clemont?!"

"Hang on, Bonnie!" Bonnie held on to her brother as tight as she could.

Serena held on tight to Fennekin tightly as well as the lab continued to rock and rock.

"But there should be no quake here!" said Sycamore.

Then, behind the children, a mysterious vortex began to form. As it expanded big enough to cover the front door, it began to suck in everything in the vicinity, including the group and the professor. Just then, Bonnie suddenly lost grip and began to get sucked into the portal.

"AAAAHHH! Clemont! Help!"

"BONNIE!" Clemont jumped to catch hold of his sister, only for him to get sucked in as well. Chespin and Froakie were also sent flying to the portal. Sycamore and Sophie held on to the staircase of the hall. Also, the little mouse Pokemon also couldn't hang on for dear life and was sucked in too, followed by a wild Flecthling who couldn't fly strong enough to counter the strong force.

Serena, hanging on tightly to the staircase as well, felt her grip was loosening. As she was losing her struggle, her Fennekin slipped past her arm and flew to the portal.

"Oh no! Fennekin!"

"Fenne!"

Like Clemont before her, she jumped for her partner and got sucked in the portal as well. As Sycamore was about to lose his fight as well, the portal got smaller and smaller, until it finally closed and the worst was over. Sycamore and Sophie recovered from the fall. They were real traumatized by the sudden occurance.

"This… is..." Sophie was completely speechless. Sycamore was just as stunned, but came out of it.

"We've got no time! Sophie, have all personal cancel our current projects and start acting! We need to know where those kids went!"

"Right away, sir!"

Sycamore wondered to himself;

"What could've happened to those children and the Pokemon?"

-In another world-

Out of the blue, in another world, a portal similar to the one that appeared at Sycamore's lab, opened. Out came the children, their Pokemon and the little strangers who followed. They fell on a harbour. Serena was the first to recover from her fall.

"*groans* I-is everyone alright?!" she asked. Clemont was lying on the ground.

"Y-yeah, I'm fine, but, where's Bonnie?!"

"I'm right here, Clemont!" she called out, on top of his back. It's a wonder how she could maintain her character after such trauma. The Pokemon were fine as well.

"Where are we?" asked Serena.

"Fenne?"

"I'm not sure." said Clemont.

"Oh no!" shouted Bonnie. "Where's Chespin and Froakie?!" The two other Pokemon were mysteriously gone as well. Meanwhile, the little mouse, Froakie and Fletchling, who also recovered, hurried off into the nearby city.

"Let's split up. We'll find them."

"Good idea. Come on Bonnie."

"Serena, be careful." said Bonnie, worryingly. Serena gave her a wink before heading off with Fennekin.

Just as she was walking into an old factory, she could see markings and craters everywhere, possibly remnants of a monster attack.

"I-I-I don't like this."

"Fennekin." her Pokemon couldn't agree more.

Deeper into the building, they could hear a metallic clanging sound from behind. She looked behind.

"Who's there?!"

As they looked on, two red glowing eyes appeared. Serena was scared to the bone as the eyes got closer and closer. Fennekin charged at the eyes, determined to protect her Trainer.

"Wait! No!"

However, she was knocked out by a huge hand and crashed into a pile of wooden crates.

"Fennekin! Okay, you! Wh-Who are you?!"

Just then, the eyes got even closer, and a metal face of an evil-looking robot appeared. Serena screamed at the top of her voice and fainted to the ground from the shock.

"Oh," said the robot. "What do we have here? *chuckles*" The robot grabbed Serena and walked off out of the factory. Fennekin was unconscious, barely holding on to her strength. Her eyes closed as she saw the giant figure walked away with Serena in his hand.

"Fenne…"
