Chapter 14: Trouble in the Skies

Just when our heroes were about to solve a prime mystery involving an old enemy, they realized they have come too late. At the city square of Odaiba, a flying F-15 jet was flying above the group of Jazz, Bumblebee, Ash and Pikachu. It then proceeded to transform into a winged robot and hovered over his arch-enemies.

"Greetings, Autobots! It has been so VERY long! *laughs evily and loudly*"

As Starscream laughed away, the Autobots could do nothing but stare and mouths open. They could barely move. And why? Their worst fear has come true. Starscream is back! Which meant...

"This is not going to look good for Earth."

*Fade from black*

The Decepticon Sky Commander continued to laugh evily at the face of his long-time enemies.

"Now then, how can I be able to exterminate you?" he sneered. "Vaporize you with my null-ray cannons? Or my Energon blades? Oh, how I enjoy such brutal tortures."

"Save it, Starscream." warend Jazz. "What brings you here? How'd you survive?"

"Oh curious now, are we? But unfortunately for you, I don't really have the time for even small talk."

Then, an enthusiastically mad Bumblebee stormed. "BEEP BEW WEEP BZZT!"

"Ah yes." said Starscream, understanding Bumblebee's demand for the purpose of Starscream's presence. "Funny you should mention it. I so happen to have a little proposition for you."

"Go on." said Jazz. He hoped with all his Spark that Starscream wouldn't do anything dangerous. But then again, Starscream always enjoyed a torturous sport so his chances of avoiding such a challenge are almost impossible. The notorious warrior flew up a little higher and pointed at a skyscraper.

"I'm up for a bit of sport, so I would like to give you a challenge you can't refuse. As you're aware, I happen to have a human hostage in my custody. If you manage to save her in, let's say, ten cycles. Or rather ten minutes as the humans call it. I will allow you to leave off with her, at least until the next time I catch you."

"And if we fail?" asked an equally concerned Ash.

"Pika." Sparks began to form on Pikachu's cheeks.

"Isn't it obvious? Well to put it simple and non-violent, there will be no chance for her, or you."

"Sounds easy." Ash took out his Pokeball, ready to unleash his Charizard to fly him up to save the hostage. But Starscream raised a finger.

"Ah! A challenge like this is not without a catch. Try saving the poor old fleshling, but first, you have to go through ME."

"What?!"

"Pikachu?!"

Jazz and Bumblebee readied their cannons.

"Otherwise it would've been too easy." said Jazz. "Get ready, Bee." The two sides became locked in a tense stare-down moment, waiting to see who would strike. All eyes were on their opponents, their trigger-fingers itching for action. A fight was about to ensue. The first fight between Autobot and Decepticon since four million years ago.

"Well?" Starscream teased at them. "What are you waiting for?"

Jazz kneeled down and signalled Ash to move closer. Brushing out his slight fears, Ash walked slowly to him.

"Look, kid. I'm going to pretend I'm asking you to stay out of this, but given he might underestimate you, I would like you to give that Con a little correction. You go save the hostage. We will take care of Starscream."

"Will you be okay?" asked Ash, worriedly.

"Pikachu?"

"Hm don't worry. We have a history with this punk. Just get to her leave the rest to us." Jazz stood up and looked at Ash, acting out a heroic scene.

"You heard me!" he ordered. "Get to safety!"

"Right!" Ash complied with the 'order'. Both exchanged winks, unknown to Starscream, and Ash ran off to get started with the rescue mission.

"Ah, playing the hero as always." Starscream said. "Now then, let's get started. How long have I waited to get my claws on your very Spark Chamber."

"Why don't ya come down here so we can crank you up?" warned Jazz.

"Oh I'm scared. Not! *chuckles*." The insults caused a sensation of anger in Bumblebee.

"BEEP BEEP BEW!"

"Is it just me, or did someone lose his voice? My oh my. What a terrible fate." Bumblebee then tried to storm his way to Starscream, only to be stopped forcefully by Jazz.

"Calm down, yo. We gotta formulate a plan to ground this loser." While Starscream watched on as if he was watching a comedy skit, a smirk formed on Jazz's face. "On second thought. Let's give him a little bit of THIS!" Jazz pointed his Crescent Blaster at the flying Decepticon and let loose a disk-shaped, electric projectile heading straight for him at full throttle. Starscream dodged it and it hit a building behind him, leaving a big hole on it. People who managed to survive the blast gathered from there and witnessed of what was obviously will be a huge battle.

"Oh, it's on now." Starscream began the battle with a zooming sweep right at the Autobots. Jazz and Bumblebee fired back at him with rapid succession. But the Decepticon Seeker was too fast and dodged every single volley of fire they could throw. He proceeded to strike at them with his claws. The two narrowly dodged them. Swinging around for another pass, Starscream fired two volleys of missiles from his shoulder cannons. Jazz threw himself behind a wreckage of a bus while Bumblebee jumped right over them. They tried to run forward and pursue him, when another streak of missiles came right for them. Dodging them, they fired their weapons at him. And this time they managed to hit him, sending him reeling across the street. He managed to prevent himself from crashing into a building with his foot thrusters. The Autobots prepared for another run, but Starscream leaped into the air and transformed into jet mode. He then fired up his thrusters to zoom right at them. As he did so, he fired rapid bursts of laser fire from his wing cannons. The shots were so quick that the Autobots could not even respond in time. They could only brace themselves and take the hits with flinches. Starscream flew right over them as the suppressed Bots fell on their backs from the sudden and swift force of the thrust. He climbed up to the sky while the two others struggled to get back up. Just when he was about to make another dive run, Bumblebee quickly made a dash for a semi-truck and tried to pick it up. Fortunately enough, there was no one inside.

"Oh no. Bad idea!" Jazz yelled. Starscream swooped in and fired more missiles at them. And Bumblebee was still trying to lift the truck up. The missiles came closer and closer, faster than even Starscream could try. Jazz had no choice but to jump right in and push Bumblebee out of the way. The missiles struck the truck with such force, the ensuing explosion was almost wide as it could reach the Autobots nearby. As the explosion cleared and the booming noise of the blast fading off, the screams of nearby spectators were getting more evident. Jazz got up slowly, looking real shaken up.

"Don't you do that again." he warned.

"BWEEP BWEW." apologized Bumblebee.

While the battle between the Transformers went in, in an alleyway nearby, Ash was running with Pikachu along the alley. He took out his Poke-Ball and threw it to the air. It opened with a flash of light and out came Charizard.

"Alright, Charizard. Let's get going! To that building."

With a mighty roar, Charizard landed and Ash and Pikachu boarded their trusty companion. With a strong flap of his wings, Charizard soared to the air.

"Yeehaa!"

"Pika Cha!"

While the lizard Pokemon flew off, things were not looking good for the Autobots. Bumblebee was tossed at an abandoned bus. Jazz was held at the throat, with almost no strength left to fight. He could only do as much as try and break loose from Starscream's grip, but to no avail.

"Is this all the entertainment I get for fighting the two of you?" Starscream gloated. "How pitiful. I was so looking for a more worthy adversary than this ridiculous display of courage."

"You... wouldn't know courage even if... it hit you in the face." taunted a very feeble Jazz. Starscream grinned and raised his claw.

"Then allow me to show you..." With a furious swipe, Starscream was about to lunge at Jazz. "...how it's really done!"

But as all was about to end for Jazz, an explosion hit Starscream at the chest. Jazz fell from the shock and scurried off to safety. But with his wounds, he hurriedly sat down against the wall of a building. He looked to where the projectiles were launched.

"I hope we're not too late to save your hiney!" Up above him, rescue had arrived. The entire Digi-Destined except Yolei, Pokemon Trainers and Star Saber had come to their aid at last. Nefertimon, Gatomon's evolved form, flew down to where Bumblebee was. He was still lying down at the totalled bus, barely conscious and badly wounded. Kari jumped down and tended to the poor Autobot.

"Are you alright, Bee?" she asked the yellow but badly scratched Autobot. Bumblebee was able to turn his head at her.

"BWEEP BEEP BREWWWW..." answered Bumblebee, faintly.

"Good to hear." sighed Kari.

"Boy, are you a real hero." teased Nefertimon.

"BEWW." Star Saber transformed and landed near him. He kneeled down by him.

"Here." He took out something out of his pocket. Out came an orbital satellite-looking orb that began hovering over Bumblebee, shining a ray of electrical light at his wounds. "Teletraan-1 should get you back up in a bit." The rest of the Digi-Destined approached Star Saber. "Cody, Cilan. Get him and Jazz to safety."

"Let's go." said Cody.

"Right." agreed Cilan. "Come on, Crustle." Cilan threw his Poke Ball and out came his hermit-crab Pokemon with a huge rock as its home. Ankylomon carried Jazz on his shell and Crustle did the same for Bumblebee. Following them were Cody, Cilan, Dawn, Piplup, Kari and Nefertimom. The rest of the crew faced the Decepticon Seeker who was spectating the drama.

"Ahhh, if it isn't my old friend, Star Saber."

"You know this winged blockhead?" asked Davis.

"We have a history." answered Star Saber. "A long, painful one."

"Oh how I long for the day, we fight as worthy adversaries again." said Starscream.

"Worthy? You always cower at the first blow that hit you. I'm just surprised you're still holding out."

"How can I be running from mere feeble blasts from your poor comrades, Saber? They had no chance against me, as you can plainly see."

"Well then, let's see if you can manage against us. Ready, team?"

"All fired up, sir!" exclaimed Davis.

"I'm ready." said Ken.

"Let's hit it!" exclaimed Iris.

"Axew!" followed by Axew and a roar from her Dragonite.

"Ready, Pegasusmon?" T.K. checked on his partner.

"You know I am, T.K." answered Pegasusmon.

"Good. Then let's roll." said Star Saber, drawing out his blade.

"So it comes to this, Star Saber?" taunted Starscream. "Depending on these fleshbags to help you fight. My. That's real cruel of you."

"Oh yeah? What makes you think that?" yelled Davis.

"Because he's leading you all to a death trap. You cannot hope to stop me. The almighty Starscream!"

"You couldn't even scare Megatron when you could stick your Null Ray blasters up his olfactory sensors."

"Oh. And would like to know? And how you suppose he fell, my friend? How is it that just a major malfunction in your ship was able to allow the defeat over that overgrown rustbucket?!"

"What are you implying?"

"Oh yes. You don't know, do you?"

"Know what?" asked Iris. Starscream made another grin.

"That I was the one who defeated Megatron!" Star Saber could only stare. He remembered how Megatron was sent flying through space. But how was it Starscream's idea?

"What do you mean?"

While the battle was about to begin, in the alleys near the fight, Jazz and Bumblebee lay down on the ground. The repair drone circled around Bumblebee as it began to heal his wounds. He was struggling at each second the drone scanned and fixed, feeling as if a thousand knives were poking at him.

"BEEP! BWEWW!" he yelped in pain.

"It's going to hurt more if you keep moving, you know?" snapped Kari.

"Heh. Don't worry, Bee." reassured Jazz. "Man, you always squirm like this. You took worse than this." As the repairs went on, Dawn walked to Jazz.

"Wait, where's Ash? Wasn't he and Pikachu with you two?"

"Oh right." said Jazz. "I forgot. He went up there." He pointed up to the tallest skyscraper in the scene. "He went up there to rescue the human hostage while we distracted Starscream."

"That must be where the girl Serena is." said Cody. Dawn snapped her fingers with a face of confidence.

"Come on, Piplup." she said to her companion. "We got to help him out."

"Piplup!" The little blue penguin bumped his chest.

"Better hurry." said Jazz. "There appears to be a ceasefire over there. Better go while there's still time."

Dawn took out a Poke Ball and threw it to the air. From the Poke Ball was a large bird Pokemon named Pidgeot. Dawn hopped onto its back as it prepared to take off

"Let's get to it, Pidgeot. Up there!"

"Kraw!" called out the bird Pokemon. And off they went, soaring off to the skyscraper to join Ash. Back to the battle at the streets, Star Saber was still having a tense conversation with Starscream.

"Starscream." Star Saber asked. "Last I heard, Megatron fell into deep space with Optimus. We can't be sure if he ever was offline. And how could you have destroyed him?"

The victorious Decepticon laughed maniacally. "So you wish to know how I defeated that loathsome excuse of a tyrant? Well now, listen carefully. Here's how I did it."

~flashback~

"Soundwave, full speed ahead! Chase them down in the asteroids and prepare to board their pathetic vessel!"

It was back at the time when the Autobots and the Decepticons clashed upon one another four million years prior to the current battle at Odaiba. Aboard the bridge of the Decepticon warship, the Nemesis. Megatron, the precious leader of the Decepticons, commanded his crew at combating the Autobot ship, the Ark. His lieutenant, Soundwave, acknowledged his master's order, despite the fact that the ship was about to speed off into an asteroid field.

"Yes, Megatron."

But one certain Decepticon was willing to object for everyone's good, so he claimed.

"WHAT?! Into that?! T-That's suicide!" yelled the cowardly Starscream.

Megatron stood up from his chair and walked towards Starscream. The next thing you know it, he grabbed him by the throat and picked him up. The Decepticon struggled to be released from Megatron's grip, but to no avail. He then mercilessly threw him at a wall and the cowardly Decepticon crashed to floor. As he stood back up, he remained silent and returned to his post. He mumbled under his breath.

"You'll pay for that, Megatron. One day."

Megatron turned to the rest of his crew.

"Any further objections?"

The whole crew returned to their positions and continued the pursuit as Megatron ordered. But unknown to Megatron, as he was about to embark to the raiding tubes that would latch on to the Ark, Starscream quietly snuck up to him.

"I suppose I can act sooner." he quietly whispered to himself. As Megatron prepared his Fusion Cannon for battle, Starscream stepped behind Megatron almost seemingly unsuspicious, with no sign of hostility.

"What is it, Starscream?" Starscream then proceeded to tap Megatron at the back, looking like a friendly gesture.

"Oh nothing." said Starscreamm humbly. "Just checking up on everyone here is all." Megatron turned around and walked off, pushing Starscream aside.

"I don't need your sentiment." When Starscream turned around to face Megatron's back, he let out a mischievous grin on his face. And at that moment, something was on Megatron's back. It was a disk-shaped object with a blinking red light. When Megatron left the scene, Starscream walked back to the bridge, feeling as if we had won a lottery prize.

"Don't worry, my lord. You won't be hearing of my sentiment anymore. *chuckles lightly*"

After a few moments, the battle between the Autobots and the Decepticons raged within the interior of the Ark.

"Give up, Megatron!"

There stood Optimus Prime, the Autobot leader. Megatron, lying down on the floor after being batten down by his arch enemy, rose to his feet.

"NEVER!" He swung both of his arms at Optimus, sending him hurling towards the flight controls. As Optimus got up and resumed the fight, the control panels started to fritz and jolt, with its navigational systems severely damaged.

"WARNING! WARNING!" The ship's main computer, Teletraan 1, started to alert everyone inside that the ship was out of control. Five minutes later, the ship began rocking. It may have passed the asteroid field, but the ship continued to shake violently as the fighting continued.

"The ship is out of control!" yelled Jazz.

Optimus ran to the controls to see if he could repair them, only to be blasted at the back by Megatron. His back was scarred with a big hole. He fell to the floor as some of the other Autobots watched in horror.

"Megatron." Optimus gasped with every breath as Megatron moved closer.

"This time it really is…"

As Megatron aimed his cannon at Prime, Optimus could only look helplessly as the cannon was ready to fire.

"…GOODBYE, OPTIMUS PRIME!"

"Lord Megatron." Suddenly, what was heard as Lieutenant Soundwave's voice interrupted Megatron via comm-link.

"What is it, Soundwave?" In the bridge, however, Soundwave was indeed there. But, as it happens, he was seen lying down unconsciously behind a corner. So was it that made the call to Megatron? Standing near the fallen Decepticon was none other than the devious bot himself, Starscream, holding a radio device that "changed his voice" to sound like the emotionless and loyal Decepticon.

"Megatron! Experiencing some technical difficulties in the Nemesis. Must withdraw!"

"No, Soundwave! My victory is near! I am one step closer in annihilating Optimus…" Suddenly, the distracted Decepticon leader was suddenly punched by a recovered Optimus, falling to the ground.

"It's over, Megatron!" he yelled.

"Yes, Prime. For you!" Before they could do anything, the ships began to rock more violently. Soon, the tubes were forcefully detached; leaving most of Megatron's stranded in the Ark.

"No. NO!" The whole interior was shaking so badly as if an earthquake hit. Everyone braced for impact, except for some who carried on the fight. The front view of the bridge shattered from the force and began sucking everything out, from tiny chunks of debris to unfortunate soldiers. The two leaders grabbed on to Optimus' command chair. Optimus landed a punch at Megatron, but Megatron grabbed on to Prime's leg.

"If I am to be sucked away into the vastness of space," said Megatron. "I'm taking you with me!" Optimus was losing his grip, struggling to shake off Megatron. Finally, he let go, sending the two of them hurling into space.

"PRIME! NO!" cried Bumblebee as he and the others watched as their leaders vanished.

-The Nemesis-

At the bridge, Starscream had just returned from his ruse. He looked down, with apparent sorrow.

"It is now a dark day for the Decepticons. Our leader, Megatron's spark has been extinguished." However, he was only shedding crocodile tears as he raised his head, grinning. "All. Hail. Starscream!" And to finish the moment, he took out a remote device and pressed the button.

Back to where Megatron was drifting away, the blinking object behind began to blink even faster until...

An explosion far from the Ark was seen from the command bridge. This could only mean one thing. Starscream had planted a bomb on Megatron. Starscream had successfully assassinated Megatron! Starscream laughed away. As he was enjoying his ascension, he turned around and noticed that all of the Decepticons have left the bridge.

"Where did everyone go?!" They all had rushed to the safety of escape pods and jettisoned out of the falling ship.

"AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!" The new leader screamed as the ship crashed into the surface of the planet's Moon.

~end of flashback~

"And that is how poor old Megatron has met his fate!"

Star Saber could only pause for a few moments. He couldn't care less about what happened to Megatron, but the fact that Optimus was indeed drifting alongside him back then seemed to matter more. Could it be that Optimus had suffered the same fate as Megatron did?

"Then tell me, Starscream…" He grabbed his sword firmer than before. "Did you happen to see Optimus with him?"

"Optimus? Optimus?" Starscream began to grin. He then chuckled slowly. After that, he let out a louder series of laughs that would make anyone feel more annoyed than ever. "Why should I even bother about him? He probably blew up with him! Or perhaps he floated off where no one will find him!" The insults did their job. Star Saber could hold it no longer.

"How dare you!" He waved his sword and charged right at Starscream. The rest of the team of organics followed him to battle. He swung his sword once he was in range, but Starscream dodged the blast by flying up.

"Oooohhh. That anger in you." Starscream taunted, but Star Saber kept on attacking. Star Saber then flung his saber at him. But again, it was another narrow miss. The blade came swinging back to Saber like a boomerang and cut down a nearby water tower, splashing a large amount of water down at the streets and even hitting down the Digi-Destined and Iris. The Digimon and Pokemon all fell at the road and were there to cushion their partners and Trainer's fall.

"Such violence." Starscream, again, continued to throw taunts at Star Saber. "Are you sure you don't have Decepticon oil flowing through your circuitry?" Star Saber was indeed furious. That's what Starscream was good at. Intimidating his foes up to the point they'd rush and rush and fight and fight until there was no Energon left in their bodies. Saber went ahead again and slashed forward at Starscream, but to once again be dodged and Starscream fired a volley of missiles at him. All projectiles hit the raging Autobot, sending him recoiling all the way down to the road. The impact was tremendous enough to create a large crater on the ground. Huge clouds of dust came out from the crash. Starscream hovered above, watching with anticipation. As the dust settled, the Autobot warrior came to view, still holding on strong, kneeling down with his word to balance him. With heavy breathing, Star Saber wasn't willing to give up on the fight.

"Still breathing, huh?" said Starscream. "I guess I should add a little more firepower. How 'bout that?"

-Skyscraper roof-

While the battle raged on below at ground level, one human was observing the battle from above a tall skyscraper in the middle of the city. Still tied up to an antenna on the roof, Serena was listening to the sounds of explosions and crashes, a little terrified about what was really happening. She was more worried about what will happen to her once the guns are silenced.

"What's going on over there?" she wondered. "Whoever Starscream's fighting, I just hope we can be on the same side." Just then, she heard something in the distance. It was a loud flapping sound followed by an intimidating roar. Her anxiety increased by the moment, thinking that something just as terrifying as Starscream was about to give her the fright of her life. As she shivered a little more, a striking figure zoomed right up to the sky. As it came in front of the Sun, the dark silhouette appeared to have extended a pair of large wings. At what looked like a tail had a flame burning brightly at the tip of it. It then made a steep dive towards the roof, towards Serena!

"AAAAHHHHH!" she screamed. She closed her eyes, ready to take whatever the figure might throw at her. But after a few seconds of immense fear, nothing happened. Putting in a little bravery, he opened her eyes slowly. And what came to view astounded her. Finally, after days in an unknown world, a familiar sight came was there in her sights. A big, orange, winged dragon. A Charizard. It would be very rare to find one at home, but it was definitely a sight for sore eyes. And what was on it was even more relieving.

"You okay?" It was a young and rash boy who appeared to be its Trainer. Moreover, a cute little yellow Pikachu on his shoulder. It was none other than Ash and his Pikachu. Two welcoming smiles and Serena could finally smile herself for the first time since she ended up here.

"Y-yeah." she answered quietly. "I'm… um… tied up… for the moment."

"Alright. Let's get you out of here."

"Pika pika!" his partner cheered. He jumped off from his Charizard and went to untie the tight knot that held Serena in her place. She was finally feeling freedom surge through her mind. When the rope was untied, she practically could leap to the air for joy. But she had to contain her excitement for she knew there's still the winged menace that was Starscream still around.

"I can't thank you enough." thanked Serena, heartedly. You don't know how long I was up here."

"Well, I think I do know how hard it must've been." joked Ash. "You must be Serena. We've met your buddies, Clemont and Bonnie. I'm Ash and this is my partner, Pikachu."

"Pikachu!"

"Pleased to meet you." said Serena. Just then, as the introductions were underway, another huge explosion rocked the area. The clash of the titans was still ongoing and the last thing they needed was to be involved in all of that fuss.

"We should get out of here!" alarmed Ash. "There's no telling what might come next."

"Tell me about it!" agreed Serena and so did Pikachu.

"Pika!" Everyone hopped back onto Charizard. Serena held on to Ash's back as the lizard Pokemon prepared for take-off from the skyscraper. With a few flaps of its thick wings, Charizard began to soar to the air. As the group flew away from the skyscraper, they began to see smoke rising from different sections of the streets where Starscream and Star Saber were duelling at.

"That Starscream must be brawling out against a tough foe!" said Serena.

"I know." added Ash. "He sure is."

"It's something called an… uh… um…"

"An Autobot?" Serena's eyes widened with shock.

"You know what an Autobot is?" she asked.

"Not what. Who."

-The streets-

By now, the streets have been almost war-torn. Craters formed from the combatants' weapons or even from when they threw their weight around. Smoke rose from some of them. And along the road, the heavily-beaten Star Saber was barely standing, using his sword to support himself. Starscream was apparently lasting a lot better. From their brief encounter with the heavy shower, the Digi-Destined and Iris joined the fight not too long ago.

"Come on, X-Veemon!" yelled Davis. "Let's give this bucket of bolts our best shots!"

"V-LASER!" Shooting out his signature X-shaped laser blasts from his chest, X-Veemon aimed for the still hovering Decepticon. But yet again, the swift movements of the aerial warrior saved himself the trouble. Stingmon prepared to launch his melee attack.

"SPIKING STRIKE!" Lunging at Starscream, Stingmon accelerated with extreme speed. But even that amount of speed wasn't enough to catch Starscream unawares. Somehow, as the sharp laser blade nears the chest, Starscream was able to snatch the limb that attacked! Stingmon tried to shake Starscream off, but to no avail. To make matters worse, Starscream was able to lift the bug-type Digimon up into the air and threw him away, sending him flying right towards X-Veemon. Stingmon collided with X-Veemon with such force, he would probably have felt the pain could last for a few days, if not weeks.

"X-Veemon!" shouted Davis.

"This is not looking good." added Ken. While the two were toppled down, Iris and T.K. readied their partners for the offensive.

"STAR SHOWER!" shouted Pegasusmon.

"Use Dragon Breath, Dragonite!" ordered Iris as her Pokemon fired a really powerful blue flame from its mouth. The rapid barrage of stars and the fiery stream of blue-coloured fire raged together against the flying opponent. The two attacks somehow combined together to form a horizontal tornado of dragon fire with almost dozens of stars spinning around it. However, once the gigantic attack approached Starscream, he reached for his back and pulled out a huge cannon and attached it onto his right wrist. He then proceeded to fire that massive firearm right at the energy twister. With one epic blast, the mighty laser was thrust in a blink of an eye. And in an instant, the blast completely nullified the energy tornado! Much to the horror of the team, Starscream let out another shot with his cannon at the same amount of force. The two flyers barely dodged the incoming shot but when it landed somewhere further down the street, it caused an energy explosion so massive, it was like a mini-nuclear bomb! Star Saber, still weak from his early attacks, almost fell from the aftershock produced by Starscream's attack. He managed to keep his balance.

"Nice gun. Where'd you get it? From Megatron?"

"Just one of the many "parting" souvenirs he left behind." said Starscream. The mighty fusion cannon had always become the signature weapon of the fallen Megatron. One blast could send an entire building tumbling down without having to aim for the weak points. And it so happened to now be under the reckless arms of the ambitious Starscream. So Star Saber had to be real quick but also real careful at the same time. One shot and it would be "bye-bye cruel world" for him. He drew his blade back to position, ready to deliver another blow. But as he was about to jump into action, he spotted something in the air. A winged and tailed figure in the distance was getting bigger as if it was approaching towards Star Saber. Then, a light, faint but still visible enough, appeared on its tail. With wings and a lighted tail, Star Saber could tell what it was. But much to his dismay, Starscream began to notice the sudden change of eye contact. He turned around and saw what caught Star Saber's attention. Things were not looking good. Star Saber knew that if Charizard is in the air, there's an almost always possible chance that its owner is on board. Starscream looked with his eyes and zoomed in on Charizard. Another mischievous grin was formed.

"Ahhhh. A rescue mission, is it?" He could see his hostage, Serena, on board with the raven-haired boy and his Pikachu riding on the back of Charizard.

"Don't you dare, Starscream." warned Starscream. Starscream eyed back at Star Saber. No one would like the looks on his face when he knew he eyed like that.

"Make me. He locked and loaded his fusion cannon and aimed at Charizard!

"NO!" yelled Star Saber. The trigger was pulled.

"Oh no! ASH!" shouted Iris.

"Axew!" So did her Pokemon companion. Another blast came out of the cannon, heading straight for Ash and his friends!

Meanwhile, while on their way to Star Saber and the others, Ash spotted something bright coming from the battle zone. It got brighter and brighter.

"What's that?" wondered Ash.

"Pika?" Pikachu felt a strange feeling in his cheeks as it began to produce small sparks of electricity. Suddenly, his face was suddenly filled with horror.

"PIKA!" As the light got closer, it was too late to guess what it was. It was a huge laser blast! It zoomed right over them. But the blast caused an explosion close to them, causing a shockwave that sent Charizard flying aimlessly, losing his control over his flight. The immense shaking was enough to send Ash rocking about. Then, after a few seconds and efforts to regain his balance, Ash began to slip off and fell from Charizard!

"Ash!" yelled Serena.

"PIKAPI!" squeaked Pikachu. Ash was sent hurling down a hundred feet from the ground.

"AAAAHHHHH!" he screamed. As he fell, he closed his eyes, ready for the worst. But just as all seemed lost for him, he felt a sudden and sharp pair of pinches on his back and a strong pull. As he opened his eyes and looked up, he realized he was caught by another flyer. It was a big bird who saved him. A Pidgeot to be exact. And up on it was another familiar face. Ash smiled after seeing that face.

"Dawn!" he exclaimed. "Since when did you have a Pidgeot?" Dawn could only smile and sigh in relief and so did her penguin companion, Piplup.

"Ash, remember when I say there's no need to worry? Now's the time to take it back."

"Piplup!" squeaked Piplup. Serena and Pikachu also let out shouts of joy.

"Yes! That was close, right?"

"Pi Pikachu!" How fortunate of Dawn to follow Ash up to the skies.

-Ken's House-

While the battle was raging on, the Ichijouji residence was as quiet as could be. Yolei was on the computer looking up for more weird Digimon activity as Poromon looked on. Clemont and Bonnie were sitting down at the living room. Bonnie was playing with a toy doll she took with her while Clemont was fixing his nifty machine-operated backpack. And as for the sleeping and recovering Fennekin, she was still sleeping on a pillow in a basket on the dining table. She was sleeping soundly and peacefully without any interference. Then, suddenly, a faint boom sound is heard. The sleeping fox Pokemon raised her ear. She then woke up sharply at the sound of the boom. Clemont, Bonnie, Yolei and Poromon also heard it. Yolei and Poromon began to worry.

"Oh no." said Yolei, worriedly. "Looks like the others are having a tough time over there. I really wanna help."

"But you heard Ken," Poromon interrupted. "we have to make sure that our guests don't leave the house."

"I know. I know."

"Oh. And one more thing. I'm hungry!" Poromon jumped into the air, with his stomach rumbling.

"That's right. It's feeding time for you. Let's go."

"Okay!" As the two hungry friends walked into the kitchen, they noticed that Clemont and Bonnie were looking at the city outside. Knowing they were curious, Yolei knew that she could not let them know of the current events. So she needed to get her act on.

"Um, what are you guys doing over there?" she asked.

"Didn't you hear a 'boom' sound earlier?" Clemont asked.

"Yeah." said Bonnie. "It was like… well… BOOM!"

"That's cute." said Yolei, pretending again. "But really, there wasn't anything." She chuckled nervously. As Poromon rummaged through a set of newly bought groceries, he laid his eyes on the basket that Fennekin was sleeping on.

"Oooohhh nnoooo…" he quietly said to himself, startled. As Yolei approached the kitchen table,

"WWWAAAHHHH!" the little bird Digimon yelled at the top of his voice. The loud yelling gave everyone such a fright. A furious Yolei marched to the table and grabbed the screaming Digimon by the feather on his forehead.

"Why you little…?!" she scolded him. "Why did you scream like that?! You're going to wake up Fennekin!"

"Um… Yolei. That's not exactly the problem right… now." He pointed his tiny wing as the basket. Yolei looked. Her face soon turned from cross to freaked out.

"YYIIKKKEEESSS!" she yelled just as loud. Clemont faced the two screamers. reeling from the blast of sound.

"What?!" he asked, loudly due to his ears being blocked by his hands. "What happened?!" Yolei stopped for a moment, but the anxiety in her body did not go away.

"Um… Eheh. Nothing. Just a… a cockroach. Nothing to worry about. I'll just get the bugspray and…"

"Bro! Look!" The sudden call from Bonnie attracted her curious brother's attention.

"What's wrong, Bonnie?"

"Out there!" She pointed out the window. "Fennekin's getting away!"

And that's when trouble was about to begin. The little fox Pokemon began scurrying away into the city! Yolei and Poromon could only faint with all the fuss that had happened.

"Oh no! If she goes there, she could get hurt or worse."

"What are we going to do, Clemont?" Bonnie asked, extremely worried. Clemont showed a determined look on his face.

"We have to get her back." That was Clemont's answer. Suddenly, Yolei rose to her feet and began to take charge. Her hands were firmly at her hips and she tapped her foot on the ground.

"What?!" she firmly said. "Oh no. You two are staying here."

"But if we don't get her back, then Serena will be heart-broken." answered Clemont. "We need to get her."

"No! It's too dangerous!"

"What's so dangerous out there other than cars and trucks? We can handle ourselves fine."

"You can't! I won't allow it!" But despite the authority figure of Yolei, Clemont shot a really suspicious look.

~What's with her?~ he wondered. ~It's almost as if she's…~ Clemont had had enough. "You're hiding something, aren't you?" Yolei was taken aback. How could he have figured something out so soon? Her strict personality began to change for the worse.

"Um… what are you talking about?"

"Look, if you're talking about those buggy, monstrous things like the one that attacked us earlier, then you shouldn't worry." He attempted to assure her. "We can handle it!"

"It's not the Digimon I'm referring to!" she yelled.

"Then what is it?!" But as the confrontation heated up, Clemont looked beside him. Bonnie should be right there with him. But much to his agony, she wasn't! Then, he looked back out the window to find his little sister running towards the city!

"AAAHHH! Oh no! Bonnie! You're too young to go out on your own! Bonnie!" However, there was no word. She couldn't hear a thing and ran out to find Fennekin, whether Clemont liked it or not. Clemont kneeled down in complete sorrow and defeat. He couldn't bear the fact that his little defenceless sister had run off on her own out in the unknown world.

"Wh-what am I going to do?!" he stuttered. "Who knows what she'll end up in? Kidnappers? Traffic accidents? Those beasts?!" Yolei then moved and gave Clemont a real treat. A slap to the face! Clemont stopped panicking for a bit and tried to fix together his thoughts.

"That's enough!" she yelled. "Don't panic! Alright, fine. Since this is a really bad situation, I guess I gave no choice but to let you out and find them. But, I'll be backing you up. Yes, there is something out there much worse than the bad Digimon. And if we're not careful, we could be done for. There, I said it. Happy?"

Clemont still paused. His hand covering the slap mark on his right cheek. Yolei blushed a little, feeling embarrassed. She's slapped girls before, but never a guy, unless you could count her brother.

"I'm sorry about the slap." she calmly told him. "But I need you to calm down. I know what it's like to lose your siblings at these times. Of course, I never lost my siblings, but you get the idea."

After a brief moment of silence, Clemont rose up and smiled.

"You're right, Yolei. Let's go find them. And whatever's out there that's worse than bad Digimon, I'm ready to take it on."

Yolei nodded, though half-heartedly. It looked like she had a lot of explaining to do. She, Clemont and Poromon proceeded to exit the house, heading out for another wacky escapade!

-The streets-

Back up in the skies above Odaiba, Ash was still high up in the air as Dawn's Pidgeot continued to hold on to him. Everyone, except Starscream, was having a moment of relief. But it was not to last. Back on the ground, there was still a menacing look in Starscream's eyes. He aimed his cannon again and fired yet another blast. Star Saber clenched his fist and threw his blade at Starscream. This time, it managed to slice off the fusion cannon from his hand. And being connected to Starscream, how could it not hurt?

"AAAHHHH!" he screamed in pain. The cannon dropped to the ground. But the blast that came out of it was sent zooming off again. However, this time, it was heading towards a different target. Serena, Pikachu and Charizard watched in complete fear as the might blast was coming…

… for Ash and Dawn!

What a terrible twist of fate! Will Ash survive the blast? Will Starscream be able to defeat his enemies or will Star Saber and the teams?
