Bleach (Careful Blues)
HIM tapped his foot rhythmically as he watched the collection of screens before him. Giving him a glimpse of all the destruction and chaos in the world above, he hadn't seen any flash of Mojo or the Puffs since he realized the Professor's plans. They were hiding themselves well, but staying hidden for months was projecting dangerous anxiety for the devil.
He patted the bottom of the baby in his lap, providing a smooth motion for the baby to fall asleep. The baby aged at a rapid pace and was perhaps the size of a one-year-old at the age of three months. He weighed heavily and HIM and the Professor took turns watching over the babe.
Before HIM could drift off to sleep with the baby, he caught just a second worth of familiar image in one of his screens. Rising up from his chair in a rapid panic, he reached for the remote to click back to the event.
It was the red headed maniac, Brick. He was robbing a bank, an act HIM thought he had outgrown from years of experience in the darkness.
"Robbing a bank? Hm," he touched his goatee in thought. It didn't make sense. After months of inactivity, being a bank theft was what he decided to do first? "Professor! Take this boy,"
The Professor rushed to his grandson. He had been anxious to come to his side ever since HIM decided to put him to sleep. Even though the baby was fine in his care, Professor couldn't trust someone so evil and heartless. He hadn't done any harm to his grandson but that wasn't expected to continue, and he was ready to fight to save his grand baby.
He walked off with the boy to leave the demon to his examinations. During the months he spent in hell, he slowly recovered from the abuse dealt to him from the anger HIM portrayed from his frustration. Although it was painful to admit, the Professor became adapted to his imprisonment in the world below.
Managing to study his grandson proved to be beyond fascinating. There was so much mystery the young infant held. Never had the Professor imagined what a child from two chemical experiments could possess. Without a doubt, this baby was like no other.
When awake, his cries were louder than trains. His appetite was larger than an elephant's. He ate more than any baby, and had twice the energy. Thankfully he napped for hours in a row but it was lonely for the Professor when his eyes shut closed in a peaceful sleep.
He grew thrice that of the average baby. Professor hadn't quite figured out why he was aging so quickly. Bubbles had never been a baby and he was sure Boomer was given life at the age of six. So properly, he had never studied an infant infused with chemical X.
From the baby's accidents of falling over, he never recorded any injuries. There was once when HIM accidentally clipped his skin, causing a minor cut that healed before the Professor could record what it looked like. From that incident, he was aware of the child's healing ability to be twice that of his parents.
There was no doubt he harbored strength. His many toys were too flimsy that they broke after being slammed against the ground when he became excited. His tiny fists created great marks on the ground when he slapped them among the walls. The strength was there, but he had yet to demonstrate powers.
Boomer had control over lightening, while Bubbles had sonic vocals. Their son didn't do either. His cries were of great volume but they weren't glass-shattering like his mother's. Recently, the Professor proposed that he didn't have any powers as an infant but may grow into one later in his life.
"Professor, watch the boy," HIM threw the remote to his chair, "I'm going out,"
What power will the baby grow into? Why is Brick robbing banks, and just where are Mojo and the girls?
