A/N PLEASE READ
So, I have decided to incorporate the rest of the Disney/Pixar universe. I will post a picture of the family tree on my profile later because... well you'll work out why after the next couple of chapters :) Enjoy!
Chapter 28
"You're telling me we're meant to find one of your cousins whom you have never met and your mother only met once when they were children?" I nodded,
"Something along those lines, but I read her page in the book, I know she married Prince Charles of France and they have two children, Damon and Abigail, who both inherited her gift. I know her gift is the same as my great-great-grandmother's; she can bend the will of people and animals with her words. I know she's my fourth cousin; my mother's grandfather's brother's fourth son's only child. I also know what she and her children look like. I think that's enough to be going on with, don't you?" He didn't respond, but continued to peer through the clouds. "They can help us, that's all I care about."
We landed on a patch of some other northern country, not France, but somewhere to rest after the long flight over the open ocean. I pulled out my small pouch of berries and roots and started chewing absently on a few.
I see you've found a way to avoid the Guardians then.
I jumped at the voice that hasn't spoken in so long.
Lets just say after Jack was able to get his memories back without you, I must admit I lost all motivation to let him join your merry band and send him away from his daughter. I replied
Your family wont be enough, they might hold your enemies off for a time, but without the Guardians Alyssa will be taken or killed and there is nothing you or Jack can do about that. I gave your ancestor that gift and after that incident with her youngest boy, I have been closely filtering who would be fit to hold such power, with few mistakes. The Guardians are as trustworthy as any one of them
Why didn't you tell me all this before?
I didn't think it was relevant, I thought you would look no further than the Guardians once you found them, and that would be all. Now Rapunzel has interfered, you needed to know. Use your family, and use Jack Frost's. With all of you together you stand a far better chance of surviving and keeping hold of your daughter. Now you have involved them, however, you're in more danger with their old foes coming for your daughter too. Be careful who you trust
Thanks for the wisdom. I'll think about it.
Think fast
With that I felt the voice leave my mind and refocused on watching Jack as he created a miniature scene of his childhood home with his mother and sister standing outside.
"Are you okay?" Alyssa looked over at her father from my lap and saw a look of pain I knew was hidden under his blank expression. She went over and sat beside him.
"Who that?" She asked, carefully pointing to Mary's figure.
"Your Aunt Mary." Alyssa nodded and pointed to Tara,
"Gamma Tara? Ma?" She turned to me and I smiled, nodding. Alyssa clapped herself, and I noticed a spark coming from her fingers as she clapped.
"Lyss, clap again." She looked down at her hands and clapped them together, more sparks erupting from where they collided. Alyssa seemed to have noticed too and clapped more vigorously, the sparks growing brighter as she did. She separated her little hands and held them out in front of her. She focused on her palms and before long a little flame appeared. Jack stumbled back at the sight of it.
"Told you she'd start up again." He muttered, a smile growing on his face. Alyssa pointed to her father's snow creation and send a column of flame at it, melting it instantly.
"Told you we'd need to train her." I returned. I took hold of her hands and smothered the flames. "Only use it when you're practicing with mummy or daddy, or when you need it." She nodded seriously and clenched her fists. I rubbed her back and looked over to Jack, only to find someone standing behind him. I opened my mouth to warn him before realising they wouldn't be able to see him.
"Mi lady, wo're you doin' 'ou 'ere?" I recognised the Scottish accent and remembered one of my cousins with the gift lives out here. Nadia. Jack turned around and backed up to stand beside me in silence.
"If you're able to help, we're looking for a Nadia, she has light hair and brown eyes." I couldn't remember much else from the book.
"Tha Princess Nadia? 'er mother's tha Queen ya kno'. Wo' 'ou wan' wi' 'er?" The man narrowed his eyes, a smaller man stood behind him, eyes narrowed as well.
"We're family. I need her help." The smaller man put a hand on the larger's shoulder and moved around him.
"You're Merida's cousin Elsa. I remember you from the wedding." I looked closer at his face and that and the accent combined and I realised who he was.
"Hiccup? Gosh it's been a while. I remember being shocked when I got the invite with Merida's name on it. It took a good man to bring her around to the idea of marriage." He smiled and held out a hand to help me up.
"I remember you saying so. Who's this little one?" He asked, bending down to Alyssa's height. I noticed Jack stiffen beside me and subtly put a hand on his so it wouldn't look strange to Hiccup.
"My daughter, Alyssa." He held out his hand and Alyssa cautiously put hers out to tap it softly.
"Aren't you a pretty princess, and she has the gift I see." He ran a finger over one of her streaks.
"Nadia's your daughter." I wasn't asking, no one else would know about the gift but a parent or child of it.
"What do you need her for?" I looked to Jack and he shook his head.
"I'd rather explain with Merida and Nadia present, to save repeating the story." He smiled and motioned for us to follow. As we crested the hill I could see the stone castle in the distance.
"Elsa! It's been so long, look at you, and this little one. Gorgeous. Come in, come in. Please tell me we can go hunting before this visit's through." Merida rambled in her odd blend of Scottish and Viking accent. She spent too long with Hiccup's family over the years.
"Naturally. There's some other business we need to discuss first though." She led us through the castle into their sitting room, Hiccup passing the group to sit by his wife. A girl came in, dressed in hunting gear with a sling of small animal carcasses around her waist.
"Nadia, what did I tell you about game in the castle. Take it to the kitchens." Merida scolded her daughter who turned and saw me sitting across from her parents.
"Who's this then?" She asked, half out the room.
"Your cousin, Elsa, we have business to discuss, off with you now. I'm sure one of your uncles will help you with them." Nadia turned to go again,
"Nadia, wait!" I called after her, she stuck her head in again, "This concerns you too, drop your hunt off at the kitchens and hurry back." She looked to her mother for confirmation and, with it, took off.
"Well what's this about then?" Merida asked, I gave a small smile and racked my brain for how to begin.
