AN: I wasn't intending to make this more than a one-shot, but the idea came to me and I thought "why not?" Prompt 77 - "test".

"I've brought you some flowers." Katie put the flowers in a vase on Alicia's bedside table, and perched on the side of the bed.

"They're lovely, Katie." Alicia reached out, taking Katie's hand in hers. Both had calluses from spending so many hours on broomsticks, playing quidditch, but it was a minor issue compared with some of the injuries they'd had. Only this morning, Alicia had fallen off her broom, breaking her ankle and spraining a wrist. That was the reason she was in the Hospital Wing, with Madam Pomfrey bustling around and complaining loudly about dangerous sports.

"I'll be out in a couple of days, she said. I've got to have Skele-gro for my ankle tonight, then she'll mend my wrist."

Both girls grimaced at the mention of Skele-gro. They'd been forced to drink enough of the vile liquid, as had everyone else on a Hogwarts quidditch team. It was an accepted part (or consequence, rather) of playing the sport.

Glancing around to make sure nobody was watching, Katie leaned down and pressed a kiss to Alicia's lips. "Going to be strange without you in the dorm tonight."

"I don't suppose the other girls will miss me too much." They both laughed. It was rare that Katie and Alicia slept in different beds, preferring to share. Occasionally, they forgot to put a silencing spell on the curtains, meaning the other occupants of the room could hear exactly what they were doing. Nobody had quite dared to interrupt them, though.

"Be fair, Alicia, last time I forgot the silencing spell was the night you told me you weren't wearing knickers under your robe. I was distracted."

"True."

They chatted for a while, and almost managed to look as though they were nothing more than good friends and teammates. Angelina Johnson, Gryffindor's quidditch captain, came to check on Alicia, hoping that the chaser wouldn't be out of action for too long. "Three days, Angie, that's all."

"As long as you'll be ready for the match against Ravenclaw, that's what matters."

"I will be."

When Angelina had left, they commented on her obsession with the game. "She wants to win, and that's good."

"I want to win, too, but I'm much more bothered about you."

As usual, Madam Pomfrey had to throw Katie out of the Hospital Wing. "It is bedtime, and my patients need their sleep. Off you go." Katie lingered long enough to watch Alicia knock back a glass of Skele-gro, then reluctantly headed back to Gryffindor Tower. It wasn't worth trying to sneak in later, they'd both tried it and been caught by Madam Pomfrey. Still, Alicia would be better before too long. Even so, three days would seriously test Katie's patience. Alicia's, too. There was an old saying - absence makes the heart grow fonder. If that was the case, they were going to have a lot of fun when Alicia was finally released.
