Chapter 22 Decisions and agendas

London
The leadership of The Illuminati met in the conference room with an open laptop with the image of Dr Zola on the middle of the desk. As the leader of The Illuminati sat down he said "I summoned you all here to inform you that we have made an alliance with a man from amongst the stars. His representative on Earth approached us with the offer and I accepted. We are retrieve him any Infinity Stones as these objects are referred to on Earth and deliver them to him. In return Earth will be spared his wrath."
One of the Illuminati members said "You shouldn't have made this deal. The Illuminati don't serve at the whim of an intergalactic being. We are seekers of knowledge and science."
Dr Zola said "We also seek advanced technology. This gives us the opportunity to make our organization even stronger and help us achieve our goals."
The Illuminati member he spoke to said "You make a good point Dr Zola. I however feel we are making a mistake. I also respect the judgement of my friends but recent events have made me uncomfortable with this plan. So I will take my leave."
As he stood up to leave the room, the Illuminati head of security for the building Mr Heizer put on the man's jacket and said "Your scarf sir."
He then used the scarf to strangle the man to death right before the other Illuminati members in the room.
The leader of the Illuminati asked "Any other objections?" No one said a word and the man said "Meeting adjourned."
Once everyone left the room, Dr Zola said "You shouldn't trust these beings from the stars. Once they get what they want there is no reason to honour the agreement you made with them."
The man said "I'm aware of that Zola."
SHIELD HQ
Jack looked on as an autopsy was done on the body of the Clairvoyant and asked "How did he die."
The medical examiner said "He died in total agony sir."
Jack smiled and said "He deserved to die in total agony for what he had done."
Jack then took out his dagger and stabbed the head of the Clairvoyant. The medical examiner in shock said "What are you doing?"
Jack answered "I swore to put my dagger through this man's head for having my brother tortured. I keep my promises."
With that Jack removed his dagger and headed up to Maria's office, it was time an important matter was decided. The future of SHIELD.
When Jack arrived he saw all the level 8 and higher agents were in the room along with the World Security Council and the Avengers.
Maria said "Now that we are all here. Let us now begin the vote. Those of you who believe SHIELD should continue to exist as an organization. At this time please raise your hands."
Jack, Maria, Phil and a number of other agents raised their hands as did several World Security Council members.
Maria then asked "Are there any abstaining votes?"
No one raised their hands and as Maria asked all those in favour of disbanding SHIELD to raise their hands, One agent said loudly "Stand up and be counted traitors!"
Several agents raised their hands were clearly in a minority and were glared at by those who voted in favour of SHIELD staying around.
Maria said "By a majority of 40 votes. SHIELD will stay on to fight HYDRA and The Illuminati."
Several agents cheered and one voice said loudly "No!"
Everyone turned to the person who spoke and saw it was Captain America. The captain said "SHIELD has to be disbanded. You were infiltrated by HYDRA who grew under this organization's nose for years and no one noticed. Those Helicarrier's need to be destroyed. Them being around puts millions at risk."
Jack said "Not happening captain. We are going to finish what you failed to do destroy HYDRA completely once and for all. Then deal with The Illuminati and find this Tesseract like device and use it for the protection of Earth."
One agent said "You're going to what Fury did. What Hydra planned to do? You're no better than them."
Jack said "Agent Gonzales, never compare me to HYDRA. If you oppose myself and Director Hill leading the organization there is the door. Get out."
Several agents followed Agent Gonzales and left the room as they were glared at by some of the agents who remained.
Soon the only ones left in the room were Jack, Maria, Phil and Melinda and Jack asked Maria a simple question "When you pushed that psychopath off the roof was it self-defence or murder?"
Maria answered "It was justice he killed over 100 people including Josh. He deserved what he got."
Jack nodded in agreement and said "Gonzales might try something, have people ready for him if he does try anything."
Phil and Melinda left the room as Jack and Maria embraced one another to help the other deal with the grief over their son's death that was brought to the surface once again.
The man who killed their baby boy was now dead, all that's left was to kill whoever gave him the order and they'd have vengeance.
The Milano
Peter sat in his chair and didn't say a word for the last few hours, the others had all gone to get some much needed rest. He hadn't been near Earth at all since he left the planet after his mother died. He had a lot of thought going through his mind and was having many different feelings all at once, nervousness, sadness and fear were among the main emotions he had right now.
He was nervous of how his family would react when they saw him again, sadness for not going back to earth sooner and lastly fear that his grandfather had died and he'd never have a chance to see him again.
He then played the mix tape unaware that he was being watched by Gamora who stood in the hallway.
Hydra base
Baron Wolfgang von Strucker stood up as the other top members of Hydra arrived for the meeting or appeared by hologram from their own bases abroad.
Von Strucker said "Our organization has been crippled. Alexander Piece is captured. Project Insight has stopped and Zola has cut off all communication which tells us he is either destroyed, hiding or a traitor. We have to decide what to do. Even as we speak. SHIELD, STRIKE, the Shadow and his mysterious enemies are attacking us. Not to mention the Avengers will get involved soon."
Daniel Whitehall asked "What do you propose we do?"
Von Strucker replied "We launch an attack on London to take out the leadership of STRIKE. With them crippled. We can focus on SHIELD and take them out along with the Avengers. After we take down Shadow and this other group whoever they are."
The Banker said "Do you want to die so badly? If we launch an all-out attack now on STRIKE we will lose what resources we have left. We should go back underground and wait for the right moment to remerge."
The Baroness said "Let's put it to a vote?"
Everyone agreed and the vote was held and by a majority vote it was decided that Hydra would carry out the attack on London in a few days.
As the meeting ended, the Sheikh took out a grenade from his jacket and said "Death to Hydra." Before pulling the pin and killed himself along with Baron Von Strucker, Daniel Whitehall and the Banker as the bases where the Baroness and Octavian Bloom were at that very moment were attacked by The Shadow's men.
The Shadow got a phone call from his men as Bucky Barnes smiled when he helped get revenge on Hydra for what was done to him and for what happened to Steve at the end of the war.
The operative said "Sir all the heads of the Serpent has been taken out. Hydra has been slain."
The Shadow said "We've crippled the beast. Let SHIELD and STRIKE deal with what remains of the organization. We can now focus on The Illuminati."
With that Shadow ended the call and toasted to the end of Hydra.
SHIELD HQ
Agent Robert Gonzales entered his office and activated a scrambler to ensure the conversation between him and those agents who walked out with him wouldn't be overheard.
Agent Gonzales said "We cannot allow Maria Hill and Jack Williams to run SHIELD. Those two in charge will lead to a lot of death, some potentially innocent ones along with those who deserve death."
One agent asked "What do you propose we do? Take over ourselves? Graham Williams will kill us all in the worst way possible if we kill his son and agent Coulson may help him. Jack and he are like brothers after all."
Gonzales said "We'd have to neutralise Coulson, Graham Williams and Agent May as well if we do take over Jack and Maria. Some might resist us, but once we get the codes to the Insight helicarriers, the full force of SHIELD will follow. So are you in or are you out?"
Several agents nodded their heads and one tried to leave the room before he was shot in the back via a silenced pistol by Gonzales.
Meanwhile on the roof of SHIELD HQ, Director Maria Hill saw a helicopter land as Ian Quinn was brought onto the roof.
Maria said "Mr Quinn your being handed over to STRIKE. They have questions in regards to some murders of British business rivals who were killed by people on your payroll."
Quinn didn't have a chance to reply before he was shot through the chest by a sniper and died instantly. 2 miles away, Cobra contacted The Shadow to confirm Ian Quinn was dead and he was now 750 million dollars richer for completing the job.
He then got a text message asking if he'd like 10 times the amount for this job in return for one last job.
Cobra sent a reply informing Shadow he was interested and wanted to know who the crime boss wanted dead for 15 billion dollars in cash.
The shadow replied with two words.
The Avengers.
London
The man sat in his office talking to Magnus Rasputin as his two men inside Hydra, Dr List and Sunil Bakshi entered bringing a crate with them.
Bakshi said "We have what you requested sir."
The crate was opened, revealing the contents to be the Scepter Loki had during the battle of New York.
Magnus said "My boss will be pleased to have this back in his possession once again."
The man said "I'd like to present it to Thanos myself as a sign that this is the first of the Infinity Stones that The Illuminati will acquire for him."
Magnus smiled and said "Good idea."
With that Magnus grabbed both the man and the Scepter and suddenly they were at Sanctuary in front of Thanos.
The man knelt and said "Thanos. The Illuminati are pleased to present you with a gift, the first Infinity Stone we have procured for you. The first of several I assure you."
He presented the Scepter to Thanos who smiled and said "This is a good start. One down, five to go."
