Chapter 23 new arrivals and first strikes
Authors notes I don't own Marvel Agents of SHIELD. All I own are my OC's Jack Williams, Shadow, the Katana Killer, Carl Berlin, Henry Radcliff and Cobra.

Unknown Location
The Shadow sat in his office looking through the files recovered at the Hydra bases his forces attacked and now had what he needed to strike a blow at The Illuminati.
The Shadow said "Have the projector room set up and get a video of the contents of these files made ASAP. Time is of the essence in order to hurt The Illuminati in a big way."
The man in front of him nodded and said "We have three broad-spectrum frequency jammers being off-loaded now and we'll set them up immediately. No communications will get in or out of the building."
The Shadow nodded and said "I'm confident of that. I don't need to tell you there is no margin for error. What's the word from Baz?"
The man replied "He's trying sir."
The Shadow asked "Trying?"
The man said with fear in his voice "Some of the targets you selected are thousands of miles away. They have to be secured and transported."
The Shadow said sharply "I was very clear- whatever it takes, whatever resources are required. Get it done."
The man nodded and said "Of course."
The Shadow said "We get one chance to strike now while The Illuminati is vulnerable. We will not get another."
SHIELD HQ
Maria and Jack stood in front of the World Security Council as Councilman Singh said "You murdered the Katana Killer Director Hill?"
Maria nodded as Councilman Rockwell asked "Was it self-defence or murder?"
Maria answered truthfully "Murder. That man killed over 100 agents and their families. If I didn't kill him someone else would have."
Several of the councillors nodded in agreement as Graham said "That man was of no further use to us anyway. We'll put in the records that killing was in self-defence. But that can't happen again. Not without a justifiable cause."
Maria nodded once as she left the room with Jack and headed to the office.
Spartax
Magnus Rasputin kept his head down as he passed through the crowd of grieving people all mourning the loss of the Spartax Emperor, Eson who died recently in suspicious circumstances.
As he entered an office building he headed to the top floor where the Spartax Empire's chief industrialist chairman Kozuno was waiting for him.
The chairman was watching a hologram of the Empire new leader General Fa Loq making a speech to the people of the empire.
The chairman said "He is a fool. Unsuitable to lead."
As he entered the room Magnus said "I couldn't agree more chairman. If The Spartax Empire is to reclaim it's rightful place in the galaxy. A new leader is needed."
Chairman Kozuno said "Who are you?"
Magnus replied "A man with a proposal for you."
Chairman Kozuno was curious and asked "What kind of proposal?"
Magnus said "How about you getting a new higher position and a new title."
Chairman Kozuno took a sip of water and said "What would you get in return for helping me. I need to know it's worth your help. After all I can get what I want alone. It might take longer to be sure but I am a patient man. I can wait however long I need to."
Magnus answered "I want what you want. The Spartax Empire restored to it's rightful place and the empires enemies. The Nova Corp and the Kree Empire both defeated and those left on their knees before the Spartoi people."
Chairman Kozuno simply said "Go on. I'm listening."
Magnus asked "Have they found out who killed Emperor Eson yet?"
Chairman Kuzuno said "No. Propaganda is saying it was a heart attack until the higher ups know more. Why did you have something to do with it?"
Magnus shook his head and said "It was done by enemy agents who want to destabilise the Spartax Empire from within."
Chairman Kozuno cursed as Magnus thought to himself 'Everything is going according to plan.'
Russia
The strike team entered the Illuminati base lead by Nick Fury and to their surprise found no enemies. But what they did find shocked them. Assembly lines of suits, Iron Man suits with the Illuminati symbol on them.
Fury ordered that explosives be placed around the building hoping at the very least that this action will slow down the Illuminati leadership's plans if not derail them completely.
As the explosives were set. Fury told STRIKE Director Murray what they found and the news that The Illuminati had Iron Man suits made it clear that whatever the group had planned it was entering the final stage.
The strike team left the building which was soon engulfed in a fiery explosion.
Unknown Location
As several people sat in the chairs, the Shadow stood in front of the projector screen and said "My name is The Shadow. The United States government along with many others all around the world have placed me atop their countries lists of most-wanted fugitives for a very colourful and not uninteresting assortment of crimes, most of which I have committed. That's who I am. You, in turn, are by my estimation the 11 best investigative journalists in the entire world. I'm here to tell you all a story."
The Shadow moved to stand next to the projector screen and as the video started to play he said "I'm sure you all recognize many of the faces on the screen next to me. They are among the most powerful men and women on the planet. They are also part of a global conspiracy, a shadow organization that spans across every continent and has for the last two hundred years, consisting of leaders in various world government and the private sector."
As the reporters were writing down names of faces they recognized and important information like news headlines and connections to historical events. The Shadow continued by saying "Some call this group The Cabal or The Organization. I call them by their real name, The Illuminati. The world you live in is the world they want you to think you live in. They start wars, create chaos. And when it suits them, they resolve it. Illuminati members will move more money in the next quarter than the World Bank will in the next year. Their organization effects sea change in every aspect of human life- the value and distribution of commodities, money, weapons, water, fuel, the food we eat to live, the information we rely on to tell us who we are."
One reporter asked "What exactly do you expect us to do with this information?"
The Shadow answered "Study it, investigate it to determine the truth, and then report it. But let me be clear. Investigating this group will immediately position you as a threat to them. If you do what I'm asking, you'll be putting your lives and the lives of those you love at grave risk. In the end. The truth will come out. Not all of us will live to see that day, but the truth will come out."
Spartax the next day
5 million of the best soldiers in the entire Spartax Empire was assembled for the memorial of their emperor Eson held at the royal palace and being broadcast across the entire Spartax Empire for all to hear.
General Fa Loq walked over to the podium to begin his speech as several important members in the political party were behind him, among them Chairman Kozuno.
The General said "A week ago. Our enemies the Nova Corp murdered a great man. Our beloved Emperor Eson. Today, we remember the hope he gave us. The purpose that he gave us. The vision he gave us. A vision in which the Spartoi people reclaim their rightful place in this universe."
As the general said this a massive fleet of Spartax Empire warships floated by overhead and the general continued his speech by saying "Years from now, our children will tell their children of this day. The day Emperor Eson's vision became our reality!"
The soldiers started to chant "Eson! Eson! Eson forever!"
The general said "For the death of our beloved emperor we will finish what Ronan the Accuser started on Xandar! For every one of our dead in this war, we will kill 1000 of them in return. To war!"
The soldiers yelled "War!" as the Spartax war fleet headed off to Xandar.
SHIELD HQ
Jack and Maria got a communication from STRIKE Director Murray which told them that STRIKE satellites picked up an alien ship in the solar system was on the way to Earth.
Maria asked "What do you think we should do Director Murray?"
Murray said "Have our forces be ready but make contact with them."
Maria nodded in agreement and said "I'll contact the ship when it gets in orbit of Earth."
Maria and Jack headed to the control room for the Project Oversight Helicarrier's. It seemed they might be needed after all.
Sanctuary
Magnus Rasputin merely looked at Thanos as the recently resurrected spokesman of Thanos known as The Other who was talking to Thanos.
Thanos smiled as he heard the news, when The Other was done Magnus stepped forward and said "The Spartax Empire just declared war on the Nova Empire. They've already attacked several bases along the border and are destroying all who stand against them."
Thanos smiled and asked "Have you found someone among them who could be useful to us?"
Magnus replied "Yes. The industrialist Chairman Kuzuno. He is a very ambitious man who wants more power and influence in the power vacuum following Emperor Eson's death."
Thanos merely said "Eson was a fool to refuse our offer. He paid the price."
Magnus didn't say another word as Thanos daughter Nebula arrived and the mad titan said "What you done has earned you your life. But we warned Nebula. Betray me again and you will die slowly and in agony."
Nebula nodded in understanding as Magnus left, heading back to Earth.
SHIELD HQ
Everyone watched as the Helicarriers left the hanger bay and went into the atmosphere as NASA satellites showed the alien ship was still heading to Earth.
The world council who were there talked amongst themselves before Graham Williams said "Lock on the alien ship now."
The Helicarriers locked on as Maria went on the coms to contact the alien ship. "Unknown vessel this is Maria Hill, Director of SHIELD. You are approaching Earth airspace, state your intentions or we'll be forced to open fire."
There was silence for a few moments before they got a reply from the ship and to their shock, it was in English. A voice said "This is the Milano to Director Maria Hill. Our intentions are not hostile. We are the Guardians of the Galaxy. We have reason to believe an alien artefact is on Earth, one that is capable of great destructive power. We're here to retrieve it and put it away somewhere safe."
Maria had the coordinates to SHIELD HQ sent to the Milano and said "Land at these coordinates and we can talk about this artefact. We know it's here and are looking for it. May I ask what your name is?"
They soon got a reply as the pilot of the ship said "My name is Peter Quill. But most call me Star-Lord."
Jack had the name looked up on the internet and found the name was of a young boy who disappeared over 26 years ago. Seems that mystery was now solved.
As the Milano headed to SHIELD HQ, they hoped that whoever these Guardians of the Galaxy are they might be able to tell them about The Illuminati and Magnus Rasputin's 'friend' out there with eyes on Earth.
Unknown Location
Magnus Rasputin entered his office and smiled as he opened a small box that he kept on him at all times.
Magnus thought to himself 'Thanos is such a fool. This was right under his nose and he couldn't even sense it.'
He opened the box and looked at the Soul Stone and smiled.
The right Infinity Stone for the right person could make that individual damn near unstoppable, and with his magic. Magnus Rasputin was already powerful, with this he was more powerful and soon he'd able to do what he has long wanted. To be able to master Necromancy and become a Lich, in order to have complete power of the dead and the living.
