Chapter 25 Plans and introductions

I want to apologise for the amount of time it's been since the last chapter was uploaded. I had severe writer's block with this story which I've now gotten past.
Well that's enough of an author's notes on with chapter 25.
Spartax Military high command centre
General Fa Loq looked at the holographic battles going on between the Kree armadas and the Spartax fleet left to defend their territory.
The Committee members in the room were furious at this new development, the Kree getting involved was something that the Spartax didn't think would happen. They thought the Kree would sit back and watch as their rivals wage war, obviously that wasn't the case.
Chairman Kozuno had a smile on his face and said "General. The fact you couldn't anticipate the Kree getting involved in this war shows you are not fit to lead our empire. I said we were committing too much of our forces to invade the Nova Empire and it left us vulnerable."
General Fa Loq said "Our forces have broken through the Nova Corp defence perimeter and those enemy forces are in full retreat. I'm ordering a third of the invasion fleet back to our territory to help deal with the Kree invasion. Once again you've managed to distract us from the topic I want to discuss. Why haven't you delivered your new weapon prototypes to the military?"
Chairman Kozuno said "These weapons are highly advanced and I will not place weapons of such firepower into the hands of a total incompetent."
General Fa Loq was about to reply when committee leader senator Misani said "Order! Order!"
As things calmed down another senator pointed at chairman Kozuno and said "You've gone too far Kozuno! General Fa Loq's leadership of the military has been instrumental in the invasion of the Nova Empire and our defences are keeping the Kree from making anymore advances beyond the outer colonies and fighting on those colonies are street to street with our troops fighting to the death and killing 10 Kree for each of our men killed and more ships on the way to drive the Kree back even now."
Chairman Kozuno merely said "Too little. Too late."
Out of the corner of his eye, Kozuno looked to another Spartax general and gave a brief nod before the general stood up and said "Given general Fa Loq's failure to eradicate the Nova Corp. I motion we turn control of the Spartax military over to someone who will use it more effectively. Chairman Kozuno."
General Fa Loq was furious and yelled "He's an industrialist!"
The general merely said "With a sizable private army and the technology to back it up."
Senator Misani asked "Do we have a second?"
When none of the other committee members spoke up, Misani said "Motion denied."
Kozuno stood up and said "As long as general Fa Loq remains in charge. I refuse to commit my resources to the cause."
As Kozuno started to walk out of the room another senator said "We need him!"
Senator Misani was silent for a moment before he said "Just a moment chairman."
Kozuno stopped and turned to face Misani as the senator asked "Will you give us time to reconsider?"
General Fa Loq outraged said "What?"
Kozuno smiled and said "Tonight I will be making a live broadcast to our empire."
Senator Misani asked "About what?"
Kozuno replied "Something that will make your decision. So much easier."
With that Kozuno left the room and the meeting ended as general Fa Loq continued to oversee the battle between their military and the Kree.
Kozuno was soon back at his company headquarters and smiled as the word came in from the men he sent on a 'special mission' to ensure his rise to power.
The target they were sent to obtain was secured and they were on their way back to the home world, they'd arrive just before the address that Kozuno planned to make to the Spartax Empire.
'Perfect.' Kozuno thought to himself.
London
The Illuminati leadership watched from a large TV screen as the Illuminati's top scientists ran tests on the Infinity Stone in their possession as on another TV screen, the Kree prisoner from the crashed ship years ago was interrogated by Mr Smythe for any and all information on the Infinity Stones, just to make sure the stone they had was the one that the Illuminati's leader thought it was.
Smythe with a smile on his face said "You're tougher than I thought. I've been doing this for weeks now and you don't talk. What should I do next? Beat you up some more? Cut off a limb or two? Decisions… Decisions."
The Kree didn't say a word as the Illuminati leader watched on, knowing how much pain the followers of Thanos could take could help the Illuminati learn more about Thanos.
'The loyalty of followers. Tells much about the one who leads them.' The man thought as Smythe started to use a bone saw to remove one of the Kree's legs.
Soon enough the Kree started to talk and The Illuminati leadership listened as the Kree said "The Infinity Stones are the most powerful objects in the universe. Each one is capable of great destruction. Each one has a different capability. That is all I know."
Mr Smythe then got new orders and gladly decapitated the Kree with a machete.
The Illuminati leadership watched as the scientists ran tests on the Infinity Stone similar to the ones that Dr Zola ran on the Tesseract during World War 2. The results showed, the Infinity Stone was indeed capable of great destructive power like the Kree had said.
One of the men watching the TV screen said with smile on his face "We now have what we need to ensure once and for all that The Illuminati will be a force to be reckoned with."
Another man glared and threw a copy of the morning paper onto the desk with the article on the front page being, allegations of the existence of a global shadow government running things from behind the scenes and announcement that the FBI and CIA are looking into these allegations.
The man then said "We have bigger problems, Reginald. The Shadow. We've let him fumble around for far too long. He must be removed from the board. Especially with this new breakthrough with the stone. If he learns of it. This war will only get worse."
The Illuminati leader said calmly as he grabbed the paper and started to read it, "Rest assured, the Shadow will be dealt with."
Reginald said "Now that we know the power capabilities of the stone and that it is capable of great destructive power. Why don't we use it?"
The Illuminati leader curious asked "Where do you suggest we demonstrate this stone's power?"
Reginald replied "Stark Tower. We destroy that as a warning to those who stand against us. Frankly I'm getting tired of hiding in the shadows. We should make a direct grab for power now."
The Illuminati leader shook his head and said "We will be patient and get power that way Reginald. Meeting adjourned."
SHIELD HQ
After the Guardians of the Galaxy told the Avengers and Shield about the stones, Graham was in his office and looked up as Captain America entered the room.
Graham said "Captain Rogers. You have done more this world than anyone should ever ask of you. Yet, you don't want us to use the Stone to defend this planet?"
Captain America said "Weapons that powerful shouldn't be used. Every time a powerful weapon that changes the face of war is used. It causes more war to happen. Besides you already have use those helicarriers that can kill millions of people if in the wrong hands, if you use them to take down our enemies. We're no better than the likes of Hydra."
Graham said "Those helicarriers are what is needed to secure our dominance against future alien threats."
Captain America asked "Is that all aliens or ones who attack us and do you mean human dominance or just SHIELD's?"
Graham retorted "Strength for SHIELD is strength for every human captain. SHIELD is humanity. You're an idealistic fool. Besides, Hydra tried to kill me and The Illuminati killed my grandson a day after he was born. If I had to I'd use those helicarriers to wipe them all out."
The captain was silent for a few moments before he asked "What would you do if the Avengers opposed SHIELD?"
Graham replied "Take you down, anyway I had to. But I hope it won't come to that. SHIELD is all about protection just like the Avengers. Besides I'm sure that some of the Avengers would side with us if a fight broke out. Clint and Natasha for definite, maybe Stark as well."
Nothing else was said as Captain America left the room as Graham thought of only one thing, revenge.
Spartax
Chairman Kozuno was in smiles as the Spartax Special Forces team he had paid off arrived with the package, Nova Corp spies who had been in Spartax territory.
Kozuno said to a nearby camera crew "Show time."
One of the crew said "We're live in 5, 4, 3, 2."
The broadcast started and as it was being aired to the entire Spartax Empire, Kozuno said "Good evening my fellow Spartax. I am Chairman Kozuno Keichan. The CEO of Keichan Corporations. This is a rarity for me as speeches are not my best work, but being honest is. Our emperor Eson and my father both worked together to rebuild our empire after the war with the Kree long ago. Eson gave us purpose and a vision. My father's factory helped make the greatest army the universe has ever known. Our military leaders have allowed themselves to become fat, lazy and careless. This is why as our troops are demolishing the Nova Corp, the Kree have attacked and even now take territory from us by force what they can't take by right."
As the speech was being broadcast all across the Spartax Empire troops in army bases were nodding in agreement with what the chairman was saying, as were members of the Spartax senate in the Spartax senate building.
Chairman Kozuno continued the speech by saying "The time has come for new management. Our military is on the verge of victory against the Nova Corp. To celebrate this and the life of our Emperor. I will give us justice, revenge and the death of his killers."
The Nova Corp spies were then shown being executed by the Spartax Special Forces soldiers to the entire Empire.
General Fa Loq who was watching the broadcast from the Spartax military headquarters yelled out "This is an outrage!"
As the general gave orders for the chairman to be arrested for treason against the state, a man had been watching the speech from a secret location and smashed a glass of wine against a nearby wall in anger.
Emperor Eson said "It's time I reappeared, the good chairman is getting too ambitious. Like father like son."
Soon the chairman was brought to the Spartax army high command were General Fa Loq and Spartax senator Misani were both waiting for him along with other Spartax army officers and the top judge in the Spartax Empire, Judge Alnik.
General Fa Loq said "Chairman Kozuno. I charge you with high treason against the empire."
The chairman glared as he was forced to sit down in a chair by soldiers and his 'trial' for high treason began.
Judge Alnik said "Is it true Chairman that you deliberately withheld advanced weaponry from the military?"
Chairman Kozuno hesitated to answer the question and Judge Alnik yelled "Yes or no?! Yes or no?!"
Kozuno said "Yes. But I only-."
Judge Alnik now enraged with this admission of denying the army advanced weapons which could ensure victory in the current war was a lot faster said "There are no buts or if's Chairman Kozuno, between the truth and lies or between loyalty to the empire, or treason."
The trial went on for another hour with general Fa Loq, senator Misani and others giving testimony of the chairman's treason against the Spartax empire and the people.
Finally after all the testimony was heard Judge Alnik said "Chairman Kozuno Keichan on the charge of treason against the Spartax Empire. I find you guilty. On the allegations you aided and abetted the assassin who killed our beloved Emperor Eson, I find you guilty. On the charge of dereliction of your duty to the Empire by not handing over your advanced weapons to the army I find you guilty. For these crimes there is only one punishment. Death."
With that the chairman was dragged off to the cells and the execution was scheduled for tomorrow morning.
London
Dr Jane Foster heard a knock on the door and opened it as an older bald man stood in the doorway and said "Hello doctor Foster. My name is Magnus Rasputin. I'm an old friend of Thor?"
Jane asked "You're from Asgard?"
Magnus nodded and Jane said "Thor never mentioned you when he told me about his friends on Asgard."
Magnus said "Thor and me haven't been friends in a long time. I knew Odin but we had some disagreements about the future of Asgard."
Jane who had her mobile phone in her pocket went to contacts and called Thor as she put on speaker.
Jane asked "Disagreements about what exactly, Magnus?"
Magnus replied "Simple doctor. Odin disagreed with my plans to replace the army of Asgard with armies of undead Asgardian warriors from the past. He saw my research into necromancy as too radical. I know you've called Thor. I'm looking forward to see him again. Last time I saw him he was a mere child."
With that Magnus knocked out Jane with a quick spell and got the mobile phone and said "Thor Odinson. You know who I am?"
Thor replied "I do. Your Salnic the unspeakable. An Asgardian who done research into dark magic and committed crimes so terrible they aren't spoken about and removed from the records. What do you want with Jane?"
Magnus replied "She is a way to get to you. Did you know that your father tried to have me killed long ago? He failed to kill me but the love of my life died. Odin took away one of the few things that gives me joy. I first started to learn necromancy in an attempt to bring her back from the dead. The attempt failed and there are no more remains for me to try again. I swore that day to get even with your father and sadly that has been denied to me as well."
Thor in shock asked "What are you talking about. My father lives?"
Magnus simply asked "Does he? If you want to see your precious Jane again. Come find me, if you can."
Magnus hung up the phone as members of STRIKE who were watching the apartment took photos of Magnus Rasputin and sent to them Director Murray who had the photos sent to SHIELD, in the spirit of cooperation between both organizations.
Xandar
Nova Prime observed as the defence fleet around Xandar got ready for any potential attack by the Spartax invasion force.
After the Spartax broke through the Nova Corp defence perimeter their fleets headed on to Xandar and were due to show up in the star system at any time.
The options were limited and now the Nova Corp had three options, fight on, surrender. Or do the unthinkable in the hopes of staving off defeat. Use the Infinity Stone in their possession to strike back at the Spartax Empire.
Nova Prime headed to her office where other high ranking Nova Corp officers were waiting. Nova Prime knew what was going on. The others had obviously held a vote on her leadership and had voted to remove her from power. She learned her replacement was Ekanix Salcha.
One Nova Corp officer asked "Has anyone here considered the possibility of surrender. The Spartax Empire is getting closer and closer to getting here and launching a full scale attack."
The new Nova Prime was furious at this suggestion and said "We will fight the Spartax Empire until we are all dead or they are. We will never surrender!"
The officer then asked "What will we do then?"
Salcha answered "We fall back. Pull all our forces back to Xandar, fortify the planet and prepare for a fight to the death. We also have a last resort measure. we'll consider using that Infinity Stone we have locked up against the Spartax armada."
Nothing else was said as the orders from the new Nova Prime were carried out.
SHIELD HQ
The Avengers got ready to go after Magnus Rasputin while Maria and Jack led the Guardians of the Galaxy on a tour of the base, before heading to the mess hall where dozens of Earth dishes were waiting for the Guardians.
Peter was happy to see some of his favourite foods from when he was a child were there, Pizza, Hamburgers and lastly Spaghetti and Meatballs. He quickly dug into those foods as the others sampled the food on offer, with Drax in particular enjoying the Fried Chicken.
Rocket said "You never told us the food on Earth was this good."
Peter replied "You'd never have believed me if I said so Rocket."
Jack got himself a Steak and talked with the Guardians about their exploits as Maria headed to the elevator to talk to the World Security Council.
At that same moment, the Avengers left Shield HQ to hunt down Magnus Rasputin.
