Chapter 26 confrontations

Well that's enough of an author's notes on with chapter 26.
London
A SHIELD Quinjet landed on the roof of the apartment complex where Jane was staying. The Avenger's emerged and headed to Jane Foster's apartment to find any clues that this Asgardian had left to where he was now.
Unknown to them another man was looking for Magus Rasputin and entered the building by the front door, the man wore blue Asian style clothes with a red cape.
As he entered the building, Dr Strange sensed that the man he was looking for had been here, very recently and headed to where the presence of this man had been, looking to get more answers.
As Dr Strange walked up the stairs he heard voices and saw the Avengers were on the scene. He headed up to them and asked loudly "I assume your all looking for this sorcerer as well?"
Tony Stark asked "Who are you?"
Dr Strange answered "Dr Stephen Strange, the Sorcerer Supreme and I'm looking for Magnus Rasputin. I've sensed his power and want to stop him before he gets any more powerful."
Thor said "Can you track down this man?"
Dr Strange nodded and said to Thor "Where he is, he's not alone. You seem to know who this man really is. Tell me what you know."
Thor replied "His real name is Salnic the Unspeakable. He was once an advisor to my father, Salnic taught Loki all he knows about magic and when the love of his life died. Salnic researched necromancy and attempted to bring her back from the dead. The attempt failed, my father was furious when he found out one of his most trusted advisors had dabbled in dark magic. He banished Salnic from Asgard after it was suggested that Salnic could use his powers to bring back dead warriors of Asgard to be Odin's new army, he claimed it would help save lives of the living, but my father refused to listen."
Thor paused for a moment than continued by saying. "Salnic continued his research, this time on beings from all over the Nine Realms. Bu the time my father had learned on what he had done thousands were dead. However Salnic escaped my All-Father's wraith. Now he's abducted a woman I love just to get to me."
Dr Strange said "This is obviously a trap. It seems that their only one thing to do."
Thor having guessed what Dr Strange was going to say said "Spring the trap. Salnic is expecting us. He doesn't know you're coming. We can use that to our advantage. Can you sense where he is now?"
Strange nodded and said "He's in Rio, Brazil." With that he opened a portal to take them to Rio which they all went through.
Spartax
Chairman Kozuno sat in his cell as he ate his last meal the guards entered and said "It's time traitor."
Kozuno was dragged out of his cell and to be brought to the courtyard of the prison where, General Fa Loq and other Committee members were waiting as soldier's assembled to watch the execution take place which was also being broadcast throughout the Spartax Empire.
General Fa Loq addressed the Empire saying "People of the Empire! We are whole again, the treason has been found and cut out of our society." The guards dragged Kozuno onto the stage set up for the execution and held the man in place as Judge Alnik stepped forward and said "Chairman Kozuno. I sentence you to death for your treason. May your soul never find peace in the afterlife. Speak your final words."
Kozuno looked at General Fa Loq who held a sword in his hands and said with hatred in his voice "You may kill me. But you will never be the Emperor."
General FA Loq held the sword close to Kozuno's head as he yelled out "In the name of Emperor Eson!"
The soldiers yelled out a rallying cry that was becoming widespread throughout the entire Spartax Empire. "Eson lives in death!"
The general repeated what he said as the soldier's did the same and as Fa Loq swung back the sword and yelled "In the name of Eson!", the projection screen on the wall on the wall behind the Committee members changed and to the shock of everyone, Emperor Eson appeared on screen and yelled out "I live!"
The Committee members and General Fa Loq immediately knelt as the soldier's cheered at the sight of their beloved Emperor alive and well, some of the soldier's had started to cry in joy.
As the cheering died down, Kozuno was looking up in shock and fear at the projection of Eson who said "Chairman you should have known better. You can't kill me."
With that General Fa Loq got up and executed the traitor Kozuno and raised the bloody sword into the air as a sign of his loyalty to Eson.
As the soldiers cheered at the traitor Kozuno being executed, Eson waited until the cheering died down to begin speaking once again. Eson said "People of the Empire. I have returned, never to leave again. Our enemies sought to kill me, with their failure, they have only increased my resolve. We are now marching forward into our future, a stronger species, a unified species. The time has come to claim this galaxy as our own. The time has come to destroy the Nova and Kree Empires and kill The Mad Titan Thanos!"
Everyone cheered at this declaration as The Emperor said "General Fa Loq, step forward." The general did as ordered and knelt as Eson said "You have done well in my absence keeping the Empire intact. As a reward for your unflinching loyalty to me and my dream after my apparent demise. I name you my heir and your son will be your heir."
The general was stunned at this news and said with tears in his eyes, "You honour me beyond words sire."
Eson then said "This is to all the members of the troops in Chairman Kozuno's private army. Some of you might not know what to do with the revelation that your boss was a traitor to the empire. He was once a loyal man, so in memory of that loyal man. I will bring all of you into the army. You will once again fight for a strong Spartax Empire and help defeat all our enemies in this war."
The mercenaries all saluted their emperor as he returned the salute and made preparations for his return to the home world to oversee their war with the Nova and Kree Empires.
SHIELD HQ
Jack and Maria listened as Gamora told them all about her adopted father Thanos. As that was being done Coulson was listening to a message left by Carl Berlin shortly before he died at the hands of The Shadow.
He was shocked to learn that Skye was the daughter of Carl Berlin and she was taken by the Shadow to get Carl to betray SHIELD. Carl had asked him to look after Skye and Phil swore he would do just that.
He soon found Skye who was talking to Drax with Fitz and Simmons asking the man about his tattoos. Phil said "Skye can I talk to you for a second."
Skye smiled and said "Sure thing AC." The two of them went into an empty office and Phil locked the door before he turned to face Skye and said "I found out who your parents are." He then proceeded to tell Skye about what happened to her parents and as Skye had tears in her eyes with the revelation that her parents were dead at the hands of The Shadow, Phil hugged her and swore at that moment to make The Shadow pay for what he done no matter how long it took.
Xandar
The new Nova Prime Ekanix Salcha looked at the holographic display as the Nova Corp fleet arrived in the system and took up defensive positions around the system, a few minutes later the Spartax fleet arrived and a transmission from the fleet commander was broadcast for all on Xander to hear.
A Spartax admiral said "This is Admiral Kosno to Nova Prime, your forces are outnumbered 4 to 1. Most of your fleet has been destroyed in battle. You can save many lives by surrendering to us and handing over the Infinity Stone in your possession to us. We can be merciful to our enemies. What do you say Nova Prime?"
Ekanix opened a communication channel to the admiral and gave his answer "No. Not now, not ever. If you want to defeat us, your men will have to kill us all."
The admiral replied "That can be arranged." With that the Spartax fleet began their attack on the Nova Corp ships, destroyed some in the first volley.
Ekanix ordered the Nova Corp ships to focus all their fire power on the lead Spartax ship. He vowed that if the Spartax got past the fleet they would use the Infinity Stone in their possession against them.
The admiral then got a communication from the home world and as a hologram of the Emperor appeared, the admiral knelt as Eson gave out an order. "When the Infinity Stone is found. Bring it to me."
Admiral Kosno said "It will be done sire. Xandar will be under our rule by the end of the week."
Eson smiled as the communication ended and the admiral oversaw the battle still going on between the two fleets.
Rio de Janeiro
Dr Strange and the Avengers arrived outside a mansion and Dr Strange said "This is the place." Curious Hawkeye asked "How can you tell?"
Dr Strange pointed to some plants of the property that were dying, very fast as were nearby grass patches that were half alive and half dead at the same time. The group entered the mansion and saw several dead bodies on display in the living room.
A nearby door was opened as the butler arrived and said with a sick smile. "My master has been expecting you Avengers to arrive. I have to say, he wasn't expecting you here so soon Dr Strange. I'll have to ask you to leave, in a manner of speaking."
The Butler took out two knives as Black Widow went on the attack. The others headed down to the basement where Magnus Rasputin was currently dealing with a client.
A dead body of a teenager was on a table as an old man said "I decided to go young for my new life. I want to avoid old age as long as possible. I guess we all go for young in the end."
Magnus then began the transportation spell to transfer the soul of the crime boss into the young man which took only a few seconds as the door was blasted open.
Magnus saw the Avengers had arrived with Dr Strange in tow. Magnus said with a smirk. "Come in. The doors now open."
Thor said with anger in his voice "Where is Jane Salnic?"
Magnus said "She's in a bedroom on the top floor. Fast asleep. I can see why you like her Thor. She's cute."
The crime boss now in the young man's body got up and said "I can see you're all busy. So I'll leave now." Before he could, he was knocked out by Tony with a quick punch to the face.
Tony than asked "So much is the going rate to help criminals get into new bodies? I can imagine a lot of them would love an extended life doing what they do?"
Magnus laughed as he said "Believe me Mr Stark, the average criminal can't afford my rates. I also help those who lost family by bringing them back. For instance I can bring back your parents if you do one thing. Kill the others."
Tony gave his answer by firing at Magnus who blocked it by simply raising one finger as Thor went on the attack with Mjolnir and Dr Strange fired a spell at the Necromancer. Magnus blocked both attacked and asked sarcastically "Is that all you got?"
He then threw several fireballs from his hands at Thor as Hawkeye fired several arrows at the man who blocked with and threw them back at the archer effortlessly
Meanwhile in the living room the Butler was decapitated by Black Widow as she heard the fighting going on and went to help the others.
Captain America went on the attack next along with Thor and Magnus used his magic to block their attacks. Magnus then asked "Do you give up yet? And Thor when's the last time you saw your dead father?"
At this point Dr Bruce Banner's eyes went green as he transformed into the Hulk and Magnus said with a smile on his face "This will be a good test of my abilities."
The others stepped back as Hulk went on the attack to punch Magnus and the aftershock caused a dust cloud to form, when the dust cleared Dr Strange and the Avengers were shocked to see Hulk's right fist in mid-air inches away from Magnus's raised left hand unable to move any further. Magnus pushed Hulk back with a flick of his hand and said "Down boy."
Magnus then asked his enemies mockingly "What else you got?"
Black Widow showed up as Hulk and Thor went on the attack together, determined to get their hands on the Necromancer. Black Widow then had an idea and snuck behind the Necromancer while he was focused on Hulk and Thor and threw a grenade which hurt Magnus.
He turned to face her and said "Congratulations. You're the first person to hurt me ever since I arrived on Earth." As Magnus started to use his magic to choke Natasha, the others went on the attack and soon Magnus was on the ground bleeding heavily and once she was ok, Natasha planted a bomb to kill Magnus as Thor went to get Jane from upstairs while the others left the mansion.
When everyone was out of the mansion, including the knocked out crime boss, the mansion blew up in a fiery explosion and they all assumed Magnus Rasputin was dead.
Unknown to them however, a few seconds before the bomb went off Magnus grabbed the Soul Stone from his pocket grabbed some of his blood from his wounds with his other hand and spoke an incantation. "Kanjigar septum vohnostrum", and got away via the teleportation spell before the bomb went off.
SHIELD HQ
Agent Gonzales and the agents loyal to him were in an armoury getting weapons as Gonzales asked "If any of you want out. Now's the time?"
No one left as everyone was committed to ensuring SHIELD did not fall from grace become another HYDRA that had a SHIELD symbol. Unknown to them, one of the group reported what was going on to the World Council who had sent spec op teams to deal with the traitors.
The strike teams were soon in position and quickly took out the traitors in quick order as the informant was the only one spared. He was told that due his loyalty to SHIELD, he was getting a promotion to level 7 with immediate effect and he'd get first pick of his next assignment.
Meanwhile Director Maria Hill got contacted by a helicopter on route and was told everything is going according to plan. Maria knew what was about to happen was long overdue for all involved and told Peter Quill to follow her to the roof as a helicopter landed and out stepped an old man who Peter recognised immediately, it was his grandfather. Overcome with emotion Peter hugged his grandfather, happy to see him again after so long and his grandfather did the same as Maria watched on with a smile, happy to help reunite one family.
Meanwhile Jack Williams was talking to Drax the Destroyer about Ronan the Accuser. When he mentioned how Ronan killed his wife and daughter, Drax saw a look in Jack's and asked "Who'd you lose?"
Jack looked at Drax and replied "My baby son Josh was murdered the day after he was born, myself and my wife learned it was done bt a group who desire power. We swore at our son's grave, we'd kill whoever ordered it."
Drax nodded in understanding and asked "How long has it been since, your son was killed?"
Jack started to get tears in his eyes as he remembered the day his baby son died and said with anger in his voice, "11 years."
Drax then said "Don't let it get to 12."
Jack nodded and said "I intend to. Whoever ordered my son to be killed, Will die horribly by the time I'm done."
With that nothing else was said as they saw the other Guardians getting along with the Avengers.
London
The Illuminati leadership was holding a meeting to discuss the progress on the next stage of their plan. Project Assimilation, Dr Litvack was happy to tell the others what he was about to say.
The researcher said "The suits are working and the Arc Reactors are fully functional. We now have 10 Iron Man suits with Russian ID's ready to launch. The war between Russia and China will start and we now have what we need to get control of Tony Stark, someone to inject him with the nanites and we'll have him help take out the US government."
The leader of the Illuminati Gideon Malick was delighted at this news and asked "How long before Russia and China go to full scale war?"
Zola replied "Once our Chinese friends are ready, all we'll need is your order and Russia and China will be at war."
With that the meeting was over as one of the scientists had a horrifying thought, how many would have to die to ensure the protection of the world.
Meanwhile at his safe house, Magnus Rasputin was furious at what happened in Rio, he thought for sure his magic would be able to ensure him victory against the Avengers, clearly he was wrong and he now knew that he needed reinforcements to defeat the Avengers and knew exactly where to get them.
With that the Necromancer headed to Germany to get his first 'recruit' before getting the others he needed.
