sdd19th-of-the-12th: Well, the story will not have a total steady progression, it's more like a bunch of childhood dribbles between things Kid and Maka did as children, they will hint upon things in the future like why Maka never really took her hair out of pigtails and why Kid likes books just as much as Maka does, the series will end when Maka's memories ended/ became so fuzzy that she couldn't really remember Kid anymore. As for why Kid didn't forget, I have a head cannon that reaper's memories are more like a movie that can be watched again and again with just the slightest bit of something to 'start' that memory, like the photos that his father took. And on your thought of this chapter, they made me laugh!

Bath Time for The Muddy Children!
Maka looked towards the next page where there were two images. One was a picture of Maka and Kid completely, and when Maka says completely she means completely, covered in dirt. The only white she could see was from the white of their eyes and teeth when they smiled at the camera. Under that picture was another picture that cause Maka to blush bright red, and compose herself before looking at it again just to realize no matter how many times she would look at it then look away, it would always be the same picture.
The second picture was taken in the bathroom at Maka's old house, the one Spirit and Kami used to own before the divorce. Maka was taking a bath... with Kid... and they were just casually naked in a tub with each other playing with the rubber ducks as they smiled at the camera.
Oh how could Maka forget these innocent times.
Maka had meet Kid in the park that day, as they did almost everyday since they meet. "Higher!" Maka yelled as Kid was pushing her on the swing.
"Higher? Ok!" He yelled in response as he summoned his skateboard away from Maka.
"Kiddo-kun? What's wrong you stopped pushing?" Maka asked as she felt the swing slowing down. She went to look behind her but heard Kid protest.
"No! Don't look back yet! I promise I'll push you higher in a second, just stay up there!" He yelled at her. Trying not to ruin the surprise. He jumped on his mini-flying skateboard he had mastered a week ago from the never after. He flew around in a circle quickly just to get balanced and prepare himself for some extra weight. Once he was ready, he yelled back to Maka. "Are you sure you want to go higher?"
"No, I was just yelling higher for the fun of it." She said her voice dripping with what her mother called sarcasm.
"Okay, don't say I didn't warn you." He said as he took off towards Maka.
"Warned you... wait what are- AHH!" Maka yelled as she looked back and saw Kid grab her on a flying skateboard. The skateboard became a little wobbly when Maka got on it, but soon Kid was able to balance the two of them on his flying skateboard.
"Look! We're much higher than any swing could have taken us right?" Kid asked nudging Maka to look down.
"Nope."
"Why not?"
"I'm on a half an inch block of wood with wheels hovering over Lord Death knows what with you, and I hate to break it to you Kiddo-kun, but we're not the most graceful of children." Maka said covering her eyes and leaning into Kid to further block her view.
"I swear I won't let you fall."
"Not good enough." Maka said simply.
"What if I swear on the sun that I won't let you fall?"
"Nope, the sun always leaves." Maka said.
"What if I swore on my own life that I won't let you fall, and you know I won't leave because you're my best friend and only dirt eaters leave their best friends." Kid said trying to reason with Maka. Kid felt Maka stop shaking. "There, that's better, how about we start off really slow okay? We'll go up higher every time you feel more comfortable." Kid suggested.
"Okay..." Maka said.
"Alright, I'm going to lower us so we're just as tall as my daddy." Kid said bringing the skateboard down. "Alright we're here." He said Maka nodded before looking down.
"Wow... does your Daddy ever get vertigo when he looks down?(*1*)" Maka asked looking at Kid.
"What does that mean?" Kid asked.
"I don't know, my mommy said it to my daddy, and my daddy is shorter than your daddy and since they were talking about height I thought it would work." Maka said shrugging her shoulders.
"Okay... Are you ready to go higher?" Kid asked. Maka tentatively nodded, and Kid raised them to be the same height as the tree they usually climbed, the children in the park were beginning to noticed that the 'Freak and Geek' were missing, as they were called.
"Wow, we're really high up..." Maka said looking down. "Can we go higher?" She asked. Kid smiled.
"Do you wanna be as tall as the DWMA?" He asked her, he saw her nod her head rapidly in response, excitement written all on her face. Kid soared higher into the air until they were the same height as the DWMA.
"They look like ants..." Maka said looking down at the screaming children as they pointed towards the sky at them.
"We should head back down, before we get-"
"DEATH THE KID AND MAKA REYNA ALBARN(*2*)!" Maka winced at her middle name as her mother was calling for them from the ground. "GET DOWN HERE IMMEDIATELY!" She yelled enraged.
"Time to go down then." Kid said slightly embarrassed at Maka's mother yelling at them at a park full of children.
"Yeah... but it was great while we were up here. Thanks Kiddo-kun." Maka said giving him a huge, symmetrical (he must add) smile. He smiled back.
"No problem Maka." He said a smile on his face matching hers. He began to lower them going much faster down then up since he knew Maka felt more comfortable on the skateboard, what he wasn't expecting was Kami to mistake the speed for falling, so what does she do? She goes out to reach for the flying skateboard trying to slow it down when in reality it changed Kid's course into a giant mud puddle on the edge of the park. Kid grabbed onto Maka so he would be the first one to land in the mud, the gentlemanly thing to do. Of course that made him completely asymmetrical.
"Kiddo-kun are you okay!?"Maka asked getting off of Kid and helping him sit up to notice he was crying slightly.
"Did I fall in the mud sy- NO! FORGET ABOUT ME YOU GOT DIRTY TOO! AND IT"S ONLY ON ONE SIDE OF YOUR BODY!" Kid yelled in despair about to enter one of his symmetry rants when he realized Maka began to roll around in the mud. "Ma-chan what are you-"
"I'm rolling all of myself into the mud so no part of my is not covered in it... I'm covering myself up in mud so I'm all symmetrical in mud, do you wanna do it with me?" Before Maka could even finish Kid was diving head first into the mud so he was completely, symmetrically covered.
"Oh Lord Death are you two okay? What are you doing?" Kami asked, carrying the skateboard with her that was discarded after their failed landing.
"Yup! We're just making each other symmetrical!" Maka said taking some mud and applying it to where Kid didn't have mud, Kid doing the same to Maka.
"You two are completely covered, we need to give you two a bath immediately. Good thing I still have the towels in the back of the car from our beach trip." Kami said, sighing in relief after seeing that the two of them were okay. "Don't move I'll be right back!" She instructed as she ran to the car to put the towels in the back of the car so the mud wouldn't ruin the backseats. In the trunk she noticed there was a camera, and decided Lord Death would like a picture of these two covered in mud, so Kami grabbed it and walked back towards the two of them noticing they started a mud fight with the other children at the park, slightly resonating with each other so they knew where each of them would be flinging mud.
"Will you two ever play nice?" Kami asked, dodging a mud ball.
"Never!" Maka yelled defiantly.
"Alright, just don't go against Mama, Papa and Lord Death, okay?" Kami asked. When Maka and Kid both nodded she pulled out the camera. "You know you two are just cute though, so I have to take a picture for the scrapbook Lord Death's making, so come together and smile please!" Kami said, and Maka and Kid obliged to her wishes. After the picture was taken Kami drove the two toddlers to her home.
"Don't touch anything you two, in fact just stay in the bathroom while I make the bath as not to bring mud around the house." Kami said. Maka and Kid nodded following her commands.
"Wow, even though your house isn't symmetrical, it's still really neat." Kid said looking around on the way to the bathroom.
"Well of course it's clean, Mommy can't stand it if all her books aren't in the proper place by the end of the day, plus if we don't clean it she'll come home and say stuff like, 'I can't see the floor' 'How is anyone supposed to find anything in this mess?' 'When did a prekishen wreck my home?' and other stuff until we clean it. But it makes it nicer to live in I'll admit that." Maka said, imitating her mother before going back to her actual tone of voice. They walked through the house towards the bathroom leaving barely any dirt as they had a conversation sitting on the white marble floors of the bathroom until the bath was ready.
When the bath was ready Kami began to take off Maka's clothes so she could wash them, but Maka was holding onto her clothes for dear life. "But Mama, Papa said I shouldn't be naked around a guy until I'm forty." Maka said.
"Well, your Papa's wrong, plus that rule won't apply to you until you're 12. Okay? So you can be naked around Kid for now, I'm sure he wouldn't care right?" Kami asked turning towards Kid.
"Well, my dad said I should never abuse a woman or stare to long at a woman who's naked unless I have the pleasure of spending the rest of my life with her." Kid said.
"Well Kid, Maka..." Kami said looking between the two. "You two are just children for starters and I'm sure Lord Death and Papa would understand. Plus, based on how friendly you two are around each other, I'm sure you'll know each other until one of you dies, okay? You will all be best friends until the end of time, so technically you two will have the pleasure of spending your lives together forever."
"Okay... I'm alright with it as long as Maka's alright with it." Kid said scratching the back of his head embarrassed.
"Okay, Maka? You two are technically married." Kami teased pointing to the skull ring on Maka's hand, which she has refused to take off.
"Alright." Maka said, nodding her head. "Race you into the tubby Kiddo-kun!" Maka said as she began to rip off her clothes as fast as she could. Kid, then tried to remove his clothes rapidly and symmetrically, but in the end failed and had to be helped out of his button up shirt, Maka making faces at him from the tub since she was already in it.
It took three baths for Kami to get all the mud off the two of them without turning the water a dark brown. By the sixth bath, the water was clear minus the soap residue. Maka was playing with the ducks with Kid in the tub, when Kami decided it would be good to take another photo. Right after the photo was taken, Spirit got home.
"We're in here!" Kami yelled back. Spirit came to the bathroom, smiling happily until he saw Kid in the bath tub with his daughter and his face fell.
"Wha...?" He asked confused.
"Oh, Papa! We just got into a mud fight and well, we needed to be cleaned quickly but I have a quick question Papa, why is it I have a hole-"
"Vagina." Kami supplied.
"Oh, okay- and Kiddo-kun has this extra thing of skin?"
"Penis." Kami also informed.
"Why are we different like that Papa?" Maka asked Spirit, who only got paler as the question progressed. Kami was trying her hardest not to collapse on the floor in tears and laughter at her daughter's innocence.
"Yeah, why is that Spirit?" Kami asked teasingly, before her husband fainted on the floor.
"Ms. Kami, is Death Scythe-sama okay?" Kid asked.
"Oh yeah! He just wasn't prepared for the question that's all. Kid I'm going to call your father, let him know you're here since we should be meeting at the park now, anyway go back to playing in the bath while you can, and I'll tell your father to bring extra clothes as well, okay?" Kami asked.
"Okay Ms. Kami." Kid said smiling at her. Kami nodded and left the room, dragging her husband away from the bathroom, she just had enough time to hear a quick snippet of Kid and Maka's conversation.
"You know, he never answered our question." Maka said.
"We can ask my Father when he comes to pick me up, maybe he'll know." Kid suggested.
Kami couldn't wait until Lord Death got here.
Okay, before I continue with the authors note, I'm sorry for not updating this in a while, can you all pleas forgive me? Please? Anyway, hope you enjoy another really cute chapter!
1) Okay so I'm not gonna lie, I am a short person, I am the second shortest person in my friend group, and even when I wear like 3 in heels I'm still the second shortest... and when I was younger I was worse right? So supposedly when I was like 6-7 I was playing with this boy at a park that me and my friend were at and there was this really tall boy there and supposedly I went up to him and asked him if he ever got vertigo when he looked down, and that was my response. That I had no idea what it meant but I heard my mother use it a lot (which I later learned was because she just watched the movie vertigo or whatever it's called kind of blanking out right now). I don't remember this, but supposedly it happened so I thought why not add it?
2) One maka two maka three maka reyne: A song composed by Spirit Albarn at the birth of his daughter.
