Chapter 18 (Second Version)
I stood there, dumbfounded by the animatronic's words. He was expecting that I would willingly become the very thing he is right now.
"Why the hell would I do that?" I questioned, glaring at the golden bear a bit.
An eerie chuckle echoed throughout the room. "Haven't I already told you?" He asked. "You will gain the powers of this suit so that you can protect the children here."
I scowled at him. "The children don't need protecting anymore." I stated. "The only thing that would be a threat to them is you." A crossed my arms. "And when you leave then this place will be safe once again."
The animatronic sighed. "Perhaps for a bit, but who's to say some other bastard will not show up and harm the children here?" He asked.
"Well I think the security here now can handle that." I retorted.
The golden bear shook his head. "It's not enough." He stated. "Nothing these people do will ever be enough."
I glared at him. "Why can't you just lay to rest?" I asked. "Why do you have to claim one last life in order to do so?" I sighed. "There's been enough death here, can't you just end it all already?"
The bear snorted as he glared back at me. "Are you being a coward once again?" He questioned. "Are you trying to run away? Are you going to leave this place and let others die because you were too afraid to protect them?"
I flinched at his words, taking a step back. 'No…' I thought. 'T-that's not it…' I looked down. 'I'm…' I began to think about his words. 'Am I being a coward? I mean… I'm afraid to die and have my body be possessed by the suit yes… but… am I only saying that it's not necessary because I don't have the balls to do what must be done to protect these kids?'
"Mikey…" I heard Sarah speak up behind me and I looked back to see her giving me a concerned look. "Don't…"
I then began to think about how I had left Sarah to die. 'Am I doing the same thing again?' I thought. 'Am I just running away because I'm scared? Too scared to protect someone again?' I looked down. 'Am I just letting others die because I'm afraid to do what's right?'
"This place needs a protector." The bear stated and I looked up at him. "You must protect the children, and look after them when I leave this place." The bear then walked a bit closer to me. "Don't run away from your responsibilities again… don't let another child die because of your own cowardice!"
"It wasn't his fault!" Sarah shouted, glaring at the animatronic.
"It was his fault!" The bear shot back. "He could have saved you if he didn't run like a coward and hid away!" The bear then looked back to me. "And you can save countless other children if you stay here, and watch over them." He took another step forward. "Don't let your fear overcome you again! Do what you know is the only way to keep this place safe!"
I stood there for a long while, contemplating over what I should do. Sure, this place was probably safe enough as it is, and it was unlikely that another murder would happen here. But, then again, this pizzeria had a terrible history behind it, and who's to say some nutjob won't come here and harm more children. If anyone ever died here again, I could never live with myself, knowing that I could have in fact stopped it, if I had just taken the bear's offer.
New Stuff is Below This
'Would it solve anything?' A voice spoke up in my head, making me flinch a bit.
'What?' I thought as I looked around the room.
'Would it solve anything?' The voice repeated. 'Sacrificing another life for a now pointless cause?'
I looked down. 'How is it pointless?' I thought. 'I'm trying to protect the kids here.'
'From what?' The voice asked. 'The danger has already been dealt with… these children have been safe from harm for a long time now.'
I frowned a bit. 'But what if something new wants to hurt the kids here?' I thought. 'What if I leave this place and kids still die?'
'You know that won't happen.' The voice stated. 'Max is just using your guilt against you…' I flinched a bit at that. 'The guilt of how you failed your sister long ago.'
I kept my eyes down, knowing that the voice was right. 'I could have done something…' I thought. 'I could have told someone… I could have saved her,' I then winced a bit. 'But I just ran… and left her to die…' I shut my eyes. 'And I need to pay for that… I need to pay for all the suffering she went through.'
'Have you not already?' The voice asked. 'You spent terrible nights here… you have gone through horrors not many have faced.' I began to notice the voice sounded feminine. 'Yet you always came back… even after your sister's safety, you came back to save every child here.' The voice started to become a bit clearer in my head. 'I'd say that you've payed your debt through those selfless acts.'
I stared at the ground for a moment, contemplating the voice's words. But I still couldn't accept what it was saying, I had endured this guilt for so many years, and it wasn't fading easily.
'I could have saved her… but I didn't…' I thought as I sighed. 'I need to pay for that…'
'Would you rather have your sister blame herself for you suffering?' The voice asked. 'Would you rather have her pass on from this world yet never be able to rest since she would eternally regret leaving you here suffering in that suit?'
I flinched a bit when the voice said that. 'No… she's not responsible for it, she shouldn't feel regret for it.' I thought.
'But she will.' The voice stated. 'You know she will, she already blames herself for all of your suffering here.'
I looked back to Sarah to see her giving me a pleading look. 'She shouldn't blame herself… it wasn't her fault.' I thought.
'Then stop all of this blame.' The voice stated. 'Stop this blame upon yourself, stop her blame upon herself.' The voice then went silent for a moment, before speaking up once again. 'Stop all of the blame Max has for the horrible things that happened here.'
I looked back to the golden bear to see that he was squinting at me a bit, waiting for my response. And as I stared at the suit for a long while, it hit me.
'It's no one's fault…' I thought. 'No one's fault but the bastard who used that suit to lure children into the back so that he could murder them.' I looked down a bit. 'I know others along with myself could have partial blame in this, none of it would have happened if it wasn't for that god damned murder!' I gained a stern look as I stood up straight and looked the golden bear dead in the eye. 'And it all ends now, all of the pain, and the suffering.'
"No." I spoke as I glared at the bear. "I'm not taking your place in that thing!"
The bear seemed taken aback by my statement. "How could you not?" He asked in a hostile tone. "This place needs a protector, and you're best fit for the job."
I shook my head. "This place isn't in danger anymore!" I growled. "The only thing that is endangering it is you!"
The bear narrowed its eyes. "Are you sure you're just not being selfish?" He shot back. "Once again being too afraid to do what's, right?" He then frowned. "Unable to accept the punishment you deserve for letting your sister suffer in this place!"
I narrowed my eyes as well. "I've already payed my dues!" I shouted. "I saved my sister and all of the children here from their suffering! And my sister already forgave me long ago for what I've done!"
I then saw Sarah walk up next to me out of the corner of my eye. I looked down to see that she was glaring at the golden bear as well.
"If anyone's being selfish it's you Max!" Sarah stated.
The bear took a step back, seemingly bewildered by her statement. "And how is that?" The bear questioned.
Sarah gritted her teeth. "You're the one who made the others and I try to kill the ones we love!" She shouted. "You made us torment and terrify the ones we care for!"
The bear narrowed his eyes once again. "They deserved it!" He bellowed. "They all deserved it and you know it!"
Sarah shook her head as she continued to glare at him. "No Max, they didn't!" She growled. "You only made us kill them since you didn't have anyone to blame for your death other than the bastard that killed you!"
The bear took another step back, still shocked by Sarah's statements, before he glared at her. "It wasn't just his fault for your deaths!" He shouted. "You're brother here could have saved you!"
Sarah glared at him. "Does it matter anymore max!?" She shouted with rage. "Does any of this even matter anymore!?" She then narrowed her eyes. "What's done is done! Making all of these people suffer here hasn't changed the past has it!?"
The bear took a step forward. "Someone has to pay for what happened to us!" He bellowed.
Sarah took a step forward as well. "WE PAYED FOR IT MAX!" She shot back. "You made the others kill the ones they loved!" Tears began to well up in her eyes. "We never hated them for what they did! But you forced them to kill their own family and you tried to make me kill my own BROTHER!" Sarah then gained a face of pure sorrow and fury. "You only did this because you wanted all of us to feel as alone as you were! You were taking all of your pain of abandonment out on those who weren't abandoned!"
The bear growled. "You were abandoned!" He shouted.
"NO WE WEREN'T!" Sarah bellowed. "You were! You were abandoned at the orphanage and you were abandoned here at the pizzeria!"
The bear took a step back, a look of hurt washing across its metallic face, before it soon turned into one of rage.
"No one else will be abandoned here!" The bear shouted before he looked over to me. "No while he has the power of the suit!"
Sarah quickly jumped in front of me. "No!" She screamed.
Freddy and Foxy then walked up to the golden bear's side, standing next to him with emotionless expressions.
The bear glared and pointed at me. "Get him!" He snarled.
But, the animatronics didn't move. Instead they simply froze up, as if something was holding them back.
The bear looked at the two with a furious gaze. "I said get him!" He shouted.
But they still didn't move, and Foxy turned his gaze to the golden bear with a fierce glare.
'No!' I heard a young boy's voice say in my head. It took me a moment to realize that the young boy was Brandon.
The golden bear gained a bewildered look. "What!?" He shouted in dismay.
Freddy then turned to give him a glare as well. 'We're not letting you hurt another person again!' Colin spoke up in my head.
My eyes widened as I saw the display unfold in front of me, dumbfounded that both Colin and Brandon had taken control of the suits once again. But I had little time to think on the matter since Sarah interrupted my thoughts.
"Get out of here Mikey!" She shouted and I looked down to see her giving me a look of distress. "Now!"
I nodded a bit in response, still in a bit of a daze as I quickly made a break for the door.
"No!" I heard the golden bear shout behind me.
The doors to the dining area then shut in front of me, making me skid to a halt in front of them. I put my hands on the doors and tried to push them open. But they were jammed shut, and I quickly ceased my attempt, looking back to see that Freddy and Foxy holding the golden bear back as it tried to break free in order to get over to me.
My eyes widened as I saw this, the bear's hollowed out eyes making me freeze up in fear as it continued to struggle against the two animatronics holding it back.
"This place must be protected!" He shouted as he wrenched his arm out of Freddy's grip.
He then grabbed Freddy's head, and the animatronic began to fidget and twitch, as if the golden bear was putting some sort of spell over Freddy. Freddy fell to the ground, the animatronic fidgeting and shaking on the floor as static came out from its mouth.
The golden bear then grabbed Foxy with both of his hands and hoisted him up into the air, slamming him down through a table after he did so. Foxy became limp and unmoving after that.
The golden bear's gaze fell upon me after that, making my eyes widen with fear as I pressed myself up against the doors.
"You cannot leave the children here when they're still in danger!" He yelled as he began to approach me.
But, before he could make it too far, Chica quickly rushed off stage and grabbed him. She began to shove him backwards with her weight, managing to get the bear back quite a distance.
'No one else is going to die here Max!' I heard Hannah shout in my head. 'And I won't let you hurt anyone else here!'
The golden bear struggled in her grip, putting up quite the fight even though Chica was both bigger and heavier than him.
I began to try and pry the doors open again, hoping that I may have a bit more luck than last time. And it was at this point where it occurred to me that the doors may just be locked. I then quickly took out my keychain and put the correct key in the keyhole, turning it after I did so.
Relief flowed through me as I heard the door "click" signaling that I had unlocked it. I then shoved the doors open, but I paused as I heard a loud "SLAM" behind me.
I turned around to see that Freddy had knocked Chica on the ground. I stared at him with wide eyes for a moment, before the lights flickered a bit and I got a slight headache. But, as soon as the lights came back, the golden bear had disappeared from view.
Terrified, I whipped my head around the area in search of the where the bear went. My blood then turned cold when I found that he was behind me, blocking my escape route to the exit. It then began to walk towards me, making me freeze up in horror, its metallic feet making a "THUD" each time they hit the ground.
I was about to run but the bear took on quick step forward and grabbed me by the throat, hosting me up in the air.
"You cannot escape your responsibility this time!" The bear snarled.
He then took of his head, and my heart stopped, knowing what he was about to do. I began to struggle in his grip, trying to pry his cold fingers off my neck, but his grasp on me was too strong to break.
"Now… meet your end!" He bellowed, lifting up his head, preparing to strike.
I shut my eyes and prepared for his wrath, tears welling up in them as I realized that this was my demise, and there was nothing I could do to stop it.
But, all I heard was the loud noise of two metallic bodies colliding with one another, before I fell to the ground. I gasped for air, rubbing my neck as fresh oxygen was allowed into my lungs. I then looked up to see that Bonnie had the golden bear's body pressed up against the wall, and his head was on the ground beside him.
'Its over Max!' Sarah shouted in my head as Bonnie glared at the golden bear. 'Stop trying to hurt yet another person over this mess!'
"Its not over!" The golden bear bellowed. "This place isn't safe yet!"
Sarah pressed his body up against the wall further as she controlled Bonnie. 'Stop it!' She shouted. 'Just stop it Max! You're brought so much pain to a situation that didn't need any more of it!'
The bear growled as he shoved Sarah off of him. "Someone has to protect this place!" He stated. "And your brother must pay for what he has done!"
My eyes widened as the bear began to approach me again, and I quickly began to crawl away from him, terrified of what he was planning to do.
But, Sarah quickly grabbed him and shoved him to the floor, pinning him down after she did so. The bear struggled under her, fury and rage showing in him as he fought against her.
"THEY HAVE TO PAY!" He shouted. "They all have to pay!"
The bear managed to break Sarah's grip after that, and was about to move, but Chica quickly rushed over and helped keep him on the ground.
'They all have payed Max!' Hannah shouted in my head. 'They lost someone they loved! Then you made us kill them!'
The golden bear still struggled in fury, somehow managing to overpower both of the animatronics on top of him. But, then both Freddy and Foxy made it to the scene, both of them helping to restrain the bear on the floor beneath them.
But he still didn't relent, trying to break their grip with all of his might as he cried out in rage.
"They have to pay!" He repeated. "I have to make them pay!"
Though he was putting up quite a fight, all the animatronics managed to keep the bear restrained.
I slowly stood up as the scene continued, feeling a bit sorry for Max. I mean, I knew that he was trying to kill me, but at the same time I knew just how much he had suffered here. He had endured so much pain… so much agony… the pain of being abandoned not once, but twice.
"I have to protect them…" The bear wheezed, his struggling beginning to waver. "I can't let them die…"
Sarah gave the bear a sympathetic look. 'No one else is going to die Max… they're safe…' She stated.
"How do you know!?" The bear's disembodied head bellowed. "We all thought we were safe here! Then that bastard killed us!" He began to struggled a bit more. "This place was never safe!"
'Max…' A somewhat familiar voice spoke up in my head.
The bear froze up at that moment, before a figure appeared a little way away from the scene. It took me a moment to realize that the figure was the Marionette, though the puppet was transparent. The ghostly figure then floated over to the scene, before stopping in front of the bear's head on the ground.
'Max…' The girl repeated. 'Please… stop this.'
It was at that moment when I realized that she was the one who was speaking to me before all of this. She was the one that convinced me to reject the bear's offer and keep my life rather than spend it suffering in that suit.
The bear's remained frozen. "Marry…" It spoke, seemingly shocked by the puppet's presence.
The Marionette nodded a bit at his words. 'Yes Max… its me.' The girl stated in my head. 'You need to stop all of this Max…'
The bear still didn't move, and was silent for a moment, before responding with.
"How can I stop all of this Marry?" He asked. "How can I stop all of this when these children won't be safe without someone to protect them?"
The puppet floated a bit closer to Max. 'They don't need to be protected anymore Max…' The girl replied. 'The only thing that threatened them was taken care of long ago…'
The bear grunted, starting to struggle once again. "How can you say that after everything that happened!?" The bear's head shouted. "No one expected for that bastard to kill us! And no one would expect for another person to show up and do it again!"
'No one is going to do that Max.' The girl stated in my head.
"But what if someone does!?" The bear shouted. "Then this would process would repeat itself again."
The Marionette shoot its head. 'Forcing Mike to suffer here in your place isn't going to solve anything.' The girl pointed out.
"He can protect the children here from any more harm!" The golden bear bellowed, starting to struggle a bit more.
'Max…' The girl spoke in my head as the Marionette started to float closer.
The bear ignored her. "This place isn't safe!" He shouted. "Someone will kill here again! I know it!"
'Max.' The girl stated more sternly as the puppet floated over to the bear's disembodied head.
The bear ignored her once again. "I can't let another child die here!" The bear's body began to struggle furiously at this point, but the other animatronics managed to hold it down. "I can't just leave here if there's even a slight risk of another killer coming here!"
'Max!' The girl shouted as the ghostly puppet lifted up the bear's head and stared into its eyes. 'Stop!'
The bear's body froze up, its head simply staring back into the puppet's eyes, not saying a word.
'Max…' The girl said in a saddened tone. 'I know how many people died here… I know that you, Sarah, Colin, and Hannah suffered so much in this place. But you have to let all of this go… there's nothing you can do to change what happened here.' The Marionette then turned its head towards me. 'You've hurt so many more people by trying to get revenge on those you viewed were responsible for the deaths here.'
The bear's head scowled a bit. "It was their fault!" He shouted. "They could have saved the ones they were supposed to look after!"
'Yes Max…' The girl spoke up in my head as the puppet turned its gaze upon the bear's head once again. 'They could have… but they didn't, and they had to live with the knowledge that they couldn't save the one that they loved.' The Marionette then narrowed its eyes. 'Wasn't that payment enough?'
The bear narrowed its eyes back in response. "They got to live on!" He shouted. "They got to continue their happy lives without any repercussions!"
'Is that what you think?' The girl replied. 'You think they could just live with what they failed to do without any pain? Or sorrow?' The Marionette's gaze softened a bit. 'An uncle, forced to live with the fact that his nephew was murdered under his care. A godmother, having to know that the child she was tasked to care for by a dear friend was killed. A mother, having to live with the knowledge that her own son was taken from her right under her nose.' The puppet's gaze fell upon me. 'A brother… having to watch his sister be stolen from him, and having to deal with the fact that he didn't have the courage to save her.'
My gaze fell to the floor as the girl said those words, somewhat stung by the recollection of the memory once again. I then looked over to Sarah to see that she was looking over at me with what seemed to be a saddened gaze. But, it was still somewhat hard to tell due to her animatronic form.
The bear was silent for a long while after that, his gaze falling to the floor, until he responded with.
"Someone had to pay…" He said halfheartedly as his gaze remained on the ground.
'And someone did pay Max…' The girl spoke up. 'You already made the man who was truly responsible for all of this pay… you only brought more pain that wasn't necessary when you made these three kill the ones they loved.'
The bear didn't look up. "Someone had to pay…" He repeated. "Someone could have stopped him before he went any further… someone could have saved me…" He then looked up at the Marionette. "Someone could have saved you from being dismantled."
'But they didn't Max.' The girl spoke up once again. 'And you can't change the past… making those people suffer and die did nothing to change what horrible things happened here.'
The bear gained a look of sorrow as it looked down once again. "I just…" He trailed off, his body becoming limp. "I… I'm so… I'm so sorry…"
Then, the bear's head stopped moving, along with its entire body going completely limp. A couple seconds later, a ghostly image of a boy appeared in front of the Marionette. It took me a moment to realize that the figure was Max, and he was one his knees, bawling into his hands.
Max kept weeping into his hands before he wiped his eyes a bit and looked down.
"I'm sorry…" He repeated as he wiped his eyes again.
The Marrionette then floated down to Max, and placed its hand on his shoulder.
'I know Max…' The girl stated in my head. 'I know how much you went through in your life… and I know how much anger you had in you…' The puppet then patted his shoulder a bit. 'But its over now… everything is over…' The puppet then brought its face down to Max's. 'All you have to do… is let go of it all, and move on.'
Max kept his gaze on the floor, not saying a word for a long while, the entire room going quiet. It was at this moment where I realized that all of the animatronics had stopped moving entirely. I raised an eyebrow at the scene, curious as to what was going on.
"I will Marry…" Max spoke up, grabbing my attention. "I promise..."
The puppet nodded slightly. 'Good.' Marry stated in my head.
I was a bit startled when Sarah suddenly appeared behind Max along with the rest of the children. The sudden appearance of things out of thin air was starting to boggle my mind a little bit.
Max sighed, still not looking up. "I'm sorry guys…" He stated as his shoulders sagged. "I made you all do terrible things…"
Colin walked up behind Max and put a hand on his shoulder. "We know Max…" He spoke. "It's not exactly easy to forgive you right now... but it's over now…" Colin then looked back at me with a small smile. "Everyone's free…"
Max shook his head. "Not everyone…" Max replied as he looked up at Marry. "You're still stuck in that puppet Marry…"
The Marionette shook its head as well. 'I've only stayed in this, so that I could help you and the others be free.' Marry stated in my head. 'And now that moment is finally here…'
The image of the puppet then slowly dissolved, revealing a young blonde haired girl standing before Max. Max's eyes widened as this happened and the girl smiled down at him warmly.
"We can all finally be free…" The girl stated as she continued to smile down at Max.
Max seemed to be speechless as he stared at the girl, before he quickly stood up and hugged her.
"It's really you Marry…" He spoke in a low tone.
Marry kept her smile and hugged him back. "It's really me…" She replied as she patted him on the back a bit. "We can all finally move on from this place now…"
I sinking feeling had been forming a pit in my stomach as she spoke of them all going free.
I looked down. 'But… that means…' I thought as I looked up at Sarah with a sad expression. 'Sarah has to go…'
Sarah turned to me, a look of sadness on her face as well. I gave her a small smile, knowing that she was thinking the exact thing I was in that moment. Sarah smiled a bit as well, before she walked over to me, tears beginning to form in her eyes. She then stood in front of me, and the both of us stared at each other in silence, both of us knowing what was about to happen. Sarah opened her mouth to speak, but I held up a hand to stop her. I then kneeled down and brought her into a tight hug, my eyes starting to water a bit. Sarah choked up a bit, and returned the gesture.
We kept the embrace for a long while, both of us trying not to cry, but failing miserably.
I was the first to break the silence.
"You h-have to go Sarah…" I whispered as I wiped a couple tears from my eyes. "You have to be free…"
Sarah sniffled and buried her face into my shoulder. "I-I know Mikey…" She sobbed. "I know…"
I held her tighter. "Y-you're gonna go to a place much b-better than this…" I stated, beginning to shake a bit as I fought to hold back my tears. "A-and you're gonna be h-happier there… I know i-it…"
Sarah pushed her face further into my shoulder. "I-I'm gonna miss you though…" She wept. "I-I don't want t-to leave y-you again…"
I rubbed her back a bit, tears streaming down my cheeks. "I know Sarah…" I stated in a low tone. "I'm gonna m-miss you too… but you know that you have to leave this place…"
I felt Sarah nod on my shoulder. "I-I know…" She replied. She then brought her head back to look me in the eye. "And I don't w-want you to join me there j-just yet…" She then gave me a stern look. "S-so stay here for a long time a-all right! And be happy!"
I smiled a bit before bringing her into one final hug. "I will Sarah…" I stated as I held her close. "I will…"
We then just sat there, hugging each other for what felt like hours, but it wasn't enough time, nothing would have ever been enough at that point.
I opened my eyes, and saw the rest of the children looking at us with saddened looks, a couple of them where even crying themselves. I then heard their voices in my head.
First, was Brandon's.
'Thanks…'
Then Hannah's.
'Th-Thank you… so much…'
Then Colin's.
'Thank you for saving us…'
Max.
'I'm so s-sorry… for everything… thank you for saving them from me.'
Then, I looked into Marry's eyes. She gave me a sad smile, before her voice went off in my head.
'Thank you for everything you did here… I know you went through so many terrible things but… you did something no one else could.' Her smile then grew. 'So again, thank you.'
I nodded back at her, still holding Sarah in my arms. Sarah then nuzzled me slightly and tightened her grip.
"Thank you Mikey…" She whispered.
I held Sarah as tightly as I could in that moment. "I love you little sis…" I stated, tears falling from my cheeks.
"I love you too big bro…" Sarah replied softly.
We held the embrace for a bit longer, before I heard Sarah's voice go off in my head.
'Goodbye…'
Then… I felt nothing in my grasp, only air occupied the place where Sarah should have been. I simply sat in that kneeling position, not wanting to believe it was true, until I slowly opened my eyes.
They were gone, all of the children, and Sarah, they were just gone. I kept still, my mind still not wanting to accept that they had left. But slowly, I came to that conclusion.
Fresh tears streamed down my face as I slowly stood up, my entire body shaking as I lowered my gaze to the floor.
'They're gone…' I thought as I stood there. More tears began to stream down my face. 'Sarah…' I sniffled. 'Sarah's gone…'
I placed my hand on a nearby table, and slumped down onto the ground, burying my face in my other hand as I bawled into it. I knew I should have been happy that Sarah was free, but the pain of losing her once again was hitting me with full force.
'She's gone…' I thought as I continued to bawl into my hand, gripping the table with my other hand. I kept in that position for a while, just bawling to myself as I wallowed in my sorrow.
Until, something popped into my head.
I slowly brought my hand off my face. 'She's gone…' I thought.
I then looked up, the tears stopping for a moment as I had the faintest of smiles on my face.
'To a better place…'
…
And… well, that's most of the story really.
I ended up sitting there on the floor for a long time, until Fazbear came into the room and found me like that. He rushed over to me and asked what had happened, and I told him everything. That the golden bear was finally gone, that the kids were free, and that everything was finally over.
Fazbear stared at me for a long while after that, until he suddenly brought me into a small hug. He said that he was sorry, sorry for everything that I was forced to go through in that god forsaken place. He then thanked me profusely, thanking me for saving all the kids, and saving him along with his own family from harm.
It was at that moment when I realized how much of a toll all of this took on Fazbear. He had to sit there in fear as his family's lives were put on the line, he had to send people to their deaths so that he could save others in the process. With that thought alone, I still feel sympathy for him.
After we had that little talk he helped me up off the ground. I thanked him and began to walk out, but he stopped me with a question.
What would I do now?
I thought about it for a moment, before I turned to him. I stated that I would first, get some sleep, then second, look for a new job. Fazbear chuckled a bit at my answer and stated that it was probably the best option right then and there.
The Pizzeria actually stayed open after all of that, with Fazbear claiming that he still wanted that place to bring happiness to children like it has for all of those years, even with all of the "incidents". I was surprised at this, but thankfully the place hasn't been "disturbed" for the past couple months, and it has indeed still brought in lots of children still.
I don't think I'll ever forget what happened in that hellhole… but then again, I don't think I want to forget some parts of it.
I guess that's why I'm writing it down here, so that I can remember it, and that maybe someday someone else will know what I went through in that god forsaken place.
Ha, I don't even know if anyone's gonna believe anything that I've written down here… but here it is anyways.
If anyone is actually reading this, then, well… I hope you get something out of this…
In Mike's Apartment.
Mike then shut the blank book he had written in, sighing to himself as he laid back in his chair. The past couple of months had been hard for him, it was very difficult to move on from everything that had happened, but luckily he had managed to find a new job and he was starting to recover a bit.
'I hope writing all of that down did something for me…' Mike thought as he stood up from his chair. 'God knows I need every bit of sanity I have left…'
Mike was about to walk over to his couch, until he heard a knock on his door. Mike raised an eyebrow at the noise, and walked over to the door, wondering who was outside. He then opened it and was surprised to see that Fazbear was standing outside.
Fazbear nodded to Mike. "Hello again Mr. Schmidt." He greeted.
Mike kept his eyebrow raised. "Hey Fazbear…" He replied. "What are you doing here?"
Fazbear looked down. "Well I um…" He started, trying to find the right words. "I found something while I was working backstage at the Pizzeria."
Mike held his quizzical look. "What did you find?" He asked.
Fazbear looked up at Mike, and took out a small bracelet. Mike's eyes widened as he saw the bracelet, recognizing it to be the one that belonged to his sister. He then quickly snatched it out of Fazbear's hand, eyes still wide with shock as he inspected it.
"It belonged to your sister correct?" Fazbear asked as he put his hand down.
Mike nodded a bit, in a slight daze. "Yeah…" He replied, before looking up at Fazbear. "But… how did you know that?"
"Well…" Fazbear began as he looked up in thought. "I found it just sitting on a table in the middle of the backstage room." He his gaze then fell upon Mike. "At first I thought someone had left it behind… but then… a faint voice went off in my head, and it spoke a name." He gestured to Mike. "Your name."
"Huh…" Mike said in a low tone as he looked down at the bracelet again. "Well uh… thanks."
"Don't mention it." Fazbear responded with a smile on his face.
Mike nodded a bit once again, and slowly began to turn away from Fazbear.
"Schmidt." Fazbear spoke up, making Mike pause. "I truly hope that we are now on better terms with one another… since all of this has passed I-"
Mike raised a hand to interrupt him and turned to face Fazbear. "Don't worry about it Fazbear, I've got no hard feelings." He replied with a small smile on his face.
Fazbear gained a look of worry. "Are you sure?" He asked.
Mike nodded in response. "Yeah, don't worry about it, it's not like you had much of a choice in what you were doing anyways." He replied.
Fazbear sighed a bit. "All right, good." He then took a couple steps back. "Have a good day Mr. Schmidt."
Mike smiled. "You too." He stated warmly.
Mike then shut the door and turned away from it, walking towards his couch with the bracelet still in his hands. He then sat down on his couch and stared down at his sister's bracelet, a surreal feeling washing over him.
It felt odd to see the bracelet again, just sitting there in his hands. Mike could remember the day their Grandmother gave it to Sarah, how happy Sarah was, and also the fact that she rubbed it in Mikes face a bit.
Mike chuckled as he remembered Sarah claiming that she was "the best grandchild" since their Grandmother gave her the bracelet, and not Mike. Sure he was somewhat hurt at the time, but now he could look back at it and smile.
Mike then shut his eyes and held the bracelet tightly in his hand, the memories of the hell that he had to endure with his sister all of those months ago flooding into his mind. She had suffered so much… gone through so much pain…
But… the smile still remained on Mike's face.
She had gone through all of that pain… but now… she was free. She was in a better place, and probably watching over Mike right now.
Sarah was safe… she was free… and most importantly…
She was happy…
Mike looked up, as a tear ran down his cheek.
"I love you Sarah…"
…
…
'I love you too Mikey…'
A/N: And… well… that's it folks.
The second ending is here, and I'm pretty sure it will put some of your minds at ease. I wanted to give both a "dark ending" and a "happier ending" just to see if I could pull both of them off well.
And did I? Well… that's for you to decide.
But it's over now… the fic is finally finished after… what was it? Two and a half years? Guess that tells you how much I've slowed down huh?
I want to thank each and every one of you that read through this whole thing, I want to thank those who followed it to the end, and those who faved it as well. Thank you everyone who reviewed this, gave me props and or criticism on it, seriously, thank you.
Most of all, thank you to everyone who deemed this fic to be worthy of your time, even if you didn't review, fav, or follow, thank you for just reading it. It really means the world to me that something I wrote was actually read by someone. And I hope you enjoyed it.
I did not expect this fic to go this far, I didn't expect it to gain all of this popularity, so just… thanks…
But enough of my rambling, I hope you all enjoyed this fic to the very end. So… have a great day, afternoon, or evening. See you all sometime…
