With the way DmC ended, it is obvious there is still a story, a big one to be told, but yet might never see the light of day, this is how I think a sequel could work, set 6 years after the original game.

The events leading up to and during DMC1 told from Vergil/Nelo Angelo's point of view. After his defeat at the hands of Mundus, Vergil is seduced to the dark side by the Prince of Darkness and becomes his primary enforcer, Nelo Angelo. In his first task as Mundus' knight, Nelo Angelo is ordered to eliminate the demon slayer, Dante, who might have some connections to him.

It's been a few weeks since Dante and Vergil went to Hell to take care of the Qliphoth, and Nero is tasked with cleaning up demons while they're gone. But after a fight with a pretty unique demon, Nero finds himself in a world that is familiar, and yet unsettlingly different. [Genderbend AU]

During and after the events of DMC5, Dante and Vergil must learn how to live together, but also learn how to be parents for the first time. Will they be able to adapt to something that should have been over twenty years ago or will they kill each other in the process?
