a/n: I apologize everybody out there! I've just been fangirling over the last couple of Detective Conan chapters that featured Makoto! And it was a Kaito vs Makoto arc! A battle for Sonoko's heart! Haha!
Anyway, as I was reading it, I kinda realized that Sonoko and Makoto are kind of out of character in my writing, and I want to change that. So, can you please drop a short review or something or give me a PM with your opinion of what Makoto and Sonoko's characters are? I just want to write them more in character. Thanks!

A bet?
That's right! A bet on whether Kyogoku-san could tell the difference between a kid disguised as Sonoko…
…And the real Sonoko!
"Makoto-san? Makoto-san!"
He immediately snapped out of his thoughts, turning to face his girlfriend, who was staring at him with a concerned look on her face. "Makoto-san? You've been really spaced out lately…are you sick or something?"
"Ah…It's fine. I'm fine."
"…Is it about what happened? With Kaito Kid? I told you, I'm sorry…I didn't mean to test you like that…"
"It's…it's not about that. I'm fine, really. Listen, I'm just going to go home."
"Makoto–"
"Bye, Sonoko."
The karate champion ignored her and immediately exited the living room, heading out of the Suzuki mansion. He rushed out of the house and immediately broke into a sprint, blocking out the worried cries of the girl behind him.
He knew she would think it was her fault. Not many may see it, but Sonoko was perceptive. He knew that she would think he was angry because she tested him by making the bet with Kaito Kid. And she'd blame herself, when that wasn't the reason at all. He wasn't angry with her.
He was angry with himself.
Kaito Kid had used Sonoko.
And it was his fault.
Kid knew that Sonoko was his girlfriend. And he used it to his advantage. Not only that, he took advantage of Sonoko's feelings for Makoto as well, proposing a bet with her so that he could disguise as her and take off with the jewel. The Phantom Thief had toyed with all of them, manipulating them and using their feelings for each other against each other.
But for now, O' World's Strongest Anti Crime System…why not curse your own flightless self's incompetence?
Makoto swiftly turned around and punched the telephone pole behind him, leaving a dent where his fist had been and causing bystanders to look at him and slowly inch away. He clenched his fists in anger, his arms by his sides as he started walking forward once again. The thief had been right. He had been stupid.
The rational part of his mind told him that technically, Sonoko had been involved with all the Kaito Kid business from the very start, and he was the one who had been dragged into it by her uncle, but the other half of his brain reminded him that she had never been directly involved until he had volunteered to guard the jewel.
In other words, there was only one reason Kid had chosen to target Sonoko and it was because of him.
No matter how he looked at it, Makoto knew that Kaito Kid chose to use Sonoko because he and Sonoko were dating. His relationship with Sonoko had endangered her. If Kid had been any other murderous, cold-blooded, deadly thief…
His fist flew into the cement wall beside him, causing onlookers to scurry away in fear. He didn't want to finish that thought.
"Makoto-san!"
He whipped around in surprise to see Sonoko running towards him, his eyes wide with fear. He broke into a run, shoving other civilians away roughly as he struggled to place more distance between the two of them. He couldn't face her. Not like this.
"Wait!"
He spared a look over his shoulder now that there were no more civilians in sight. He sped up, knowing that he would easily outrun her now that there were no obstacles in the way.
"Makoto-san! Wait! I need to-Ah!"
And it all happened in an instant. The second she cried out, he was turning around and running, and he slid on his knees to catch her in his arms as she fell.
"Are you okay?" He asked as he helped her up.
"Me? What about you? Your knees are going to be scrapped and bloody now!"
"What, you mean these?" He gestured at his shredded knees. "It's nothing."
"…"
"…"
"Makoto, I'm sorry, okay? I know I shouldn't have tested you, and–"
"I'm not mad, Sonoko."
"What?"
"I told you, didn't I? It's okay."
"Then why are you–"
"He used you, Sonoko. He targeted you because of me."
"…What?"
"It's my fault that he put you on the spot like that. Our relationship is putting you in danger and it's–"
"You're an idiot, Makoto-san."
"…What?"
"My family is rich. And famous. And if anything, I should be the one apologizing for all the stuff you're going to have to go through. My mother put you on the spot with her bet, didn't she?"
"Yes, but–"
"No. If anything, you're the one in more danger because of me. Makoto, I…"
And it ended there, because he silenced her with a soft, understanding kiss. And at that moment, as if by fate, rain cam pouring down, soaking the couple as they kissed passionately, conveying all they couldn't in words.
a/n: Kinda rushed it at the end. Sorry! Please review! I want to know what you think of their characters and how I should write them :D.
