1, 2, 3, 4, I declare a NERF war

By Alasse Fefalas

"Ooh, I just had a great idea!" Castle said suddenly. It was one of those slow days at the precinct - no murders, just the team wishing they could murder the paperwork.

"What, bro? Helping us with the paperwork?" Esposito said from his desk.

"Yeah, like that'll ever happen," Ryan sniggered.

"Uh, no. I was thinking, we should have a NERF war! At my house! On Saturday!" Castle said excitedly, looking at the team.

"Really, Castle? A NERF war?" Beckett said, mirth lining her voice. "You DO realize that we're cops right?"

"Yeah, bro, it ain't a war if you know you're gonna win. It's gonna be a massacre," Esposito smirked.

"Hey! I'm actually quite good at it! I practice with Alexis all the time!"Castle said.

"Uh huh," Beckett said, skeptical.

"No, really! I am!" Castle rebutted. "Plus, I'd have Beckett on my team. No way I'm gonna lose."

"I'm on your team?" Beckett asked, feigning surprise.

"Yeah, you're my partner, so you're on my team!" Castle said confidently. Looking at the frown on Beckett's face, his confidence dropped slightly. "Wait. You ARE on my team right?"

"Well, I don't know..." Beckett trailed, teasing Castle. Seeing the pleading look on his face, she couldn't help but to burst into laughter. "Okay, okay! I'm on your team!"

"YES! We are so gonna cream those guys!" Castle said triumphantly, punching his fists up in the air.

"Oh ho, no you're not," Esposito retorted.

"You think we're gonna let you win?" Ryan laughed.

"Well, no. We're gonna take the win from you. Booyah!" Castle exclaimed.

"Oh yeah? How about a bet then? Loser buys dinner AND drinks?" Esposito said confidently, holding his hand out.

"Oh, you're on," Castle grinned, grabbing Esposito's hand. "So that settles it. Saturday, my place. Bring your money, boys, because Beckett and I are gonna wipe the floor with you!"

Castle grabbed his coat and started walking off, only to be stopped by Beckett's question, "Hey, where are you going?"

"Home! I've got some practicing to do," Castle grinned and waved a goodbye to her.

Laughing, Beckett looked at the other two. "Whatever it takes for him to escape this dreary paperwork, eh?" Beckett smiled and shook her head. Saturday promised to be an interesting day.
