Ok so I know I said that this was the last chapter...l lied. There will be an epilogue after this, I just didn't feel that it would all fit into this chapter.
Chapter 18
Cammie
Today was the first day after winter break. Over the holiday's I went back to my grandparents ranch and spent some time with them. Unfortunately Craig wasn't able to come as he was celebrating with his parents. We hadn't seen much of each other since the summer, as his job kept him at Gallagher almost full time and his father was still unable to go back to work. I really missed him, it was so lonely here without him. I know that's a crazy thing to say, as I'm almost never actually alone around this place. I actually hadn't talked with him since November when he last came to visit me. He hasn't even bothered to return my calls, and I've only been told what he's up to by his parents.
Instead of focusing on him I poured myself into my studies, and quickly became top of the class in almost everything. But what can I say, I've never been that good at computers. It was better than the alternative of moping around and focusing on the fact that my boyfriend didn't care enough to talk to me for months at a time. By this point I really believe he's gotten over me already and has moved on to someone else. He probably was just too chicken to break up with me because he figured I would kill him or something. In truth I probably would.
"Okay boys, and Cammie, I have an announcement to make. A select number of students in the senior class will be going on an exchange to Gallagher. The students going are Benji, Cammie, Grant, and Patric. You students will meet tonight at the main entrance we hope you have a splendid time!" Our vice principal Mr. Zander said from up front. We were all about ready to eat when he interrupted.
"That's great! Now you'll get to see Craig, Cam!" Grant said from his seat to my right. I hadn't told them about our current situation so they still assumed that we were going strong. Well I guess I have to tell them now since it appears we might be seeing him in the near future.
"I don't even know if he's still there Grant." I replied as I shrugged my shoulders and took another bite of my salad.
"What? When's the last time you talked to him?" Benji asked from his seat directly across mine at the table.
"Last time he visited me in November."
"You haven't talked to him in almost two months?"
"Yepp," I said popping the "p".
"Why not? Did you two break up?" Patric asked. He was sitting right beside me. He was a transfer student from a spy school somewhere in Australia, and you could tell by his Aussie accent. He was staying in the dorm room beside mine and we had come to become friends.
"I don't know, he hasn't called me back." I replied.
"Wait, didn't you invite him to your Gram's ranch for the break?"
"Yeah, but I asked his parents not him, and they said that he wanted to spend the holidays with them."
"Okay he's officially off his rocker." Patric said.
"It doesn't matter, we'll find out what's up with him soon enough." I said.
"Yeah, speaking of which we better get packing." Benji said and we all nodded in agreement, and went to go dump our trays.
Time skip-
"Welcome to Gallagher, you're new schedule will be slipped under your door tonight. The slip of paper you were given tells you your room number and meal times. We ask you to please turn in, as the students will not be informed of your arrival until breakfast tomorrow. We expect you to act here, as you would at Blackthorne. You will find your rooms up the stairs and to the left. Goodnight." The head secretary told us as she led us into the main lobby. We stayed silent until she turned and left the room.
"234B," I said as we walked up the stairs.
"235B," Benji replied.
"235B," both Grant and Patric said at the same time.
"I better have my own room," I grumbled as we turned left and I tightened the strap of my duffle bag.
"I'm surprised they didn't stick you in a room with us." Patric spoke as we finally found our rooms. They were right beside each other, theirs sitting to the right of mine.
"My 'rental probably had something to do with it." I replied as I bent down for a retinal scan to open my door. The security here was terrible, retinal scans are way too easy to cheat.
"Such love," Benji snorted.
"I'm tired, see you guys in the morning." I said as I rolled my eyes at Grant who was bending at the waist, as if he was bowing, to the retinal scanner.
"Night, Cam." Patric responded before I walked into the room and shut the door behind me. I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep until I heightened security in my room, so I placed a simple trap in front of my door, and in front of both windows. Tomorrow I'll tighten it up more, but for tonight it's fine, I thought as I sat down on the bed. I fell back and was asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow.
Time Skip-
"Cam wake up, we're going to miss breakfast!" Someone yelled, jerking me from my sleep.
"Go away," I mumbled, as I turned over and pulled my blankets closer to my body, only to have them violently snatched away.
"No Cam, you have to wake up. They're expecting us for breakfast." Another voice said before someone pulled my pillow out from under my head. Great, now I'm awake.
"Fine," I grumbled as I got up and walked over to my dresser and picked out a black, Blackthorne t-shirt, and a pair of skinny jeans. I quickly walked into the small bathroom that was attached to my room and changed.
"Let's go." I mumbled as I undid my door trap and led the boys out of my room.
"How did you even get into my room?" I asked, realizing that they got in.
"There's an air vent that runs right from our room to yours. Good thing we didn't try the front door." Benji replied as he glared at Grant. I guess he wanted to use the front door.
"So what time is it anyway?" I asked, too lazy to actually find it out myself.
"7:35, breakfast starts at 7:40 so we have five minutes." Patric responded.
"Ugh, it's so early. Why do I have to go to breakfast anyway?" I said dejectedly as I walked down the stairs and followed the familiar path to the cafeteria. Strangely we didn't pass anyone on the way.
"So how are we doing this?" Grant asked from where he was walking behind me. We had formed into our attack positions without even realizing it. I was in the front, with Benji and Patric on either side flanking me, and Grant directly at my back.
"We're just going to walk in, I'm actually kinda hungry." I replied as I stuffed my hands into the front pockets of my jeans.
"Great plan," he replied as he rubbed his hands together.
"Here we are," Pat said as we came to a stand still in front of the door to the diner hall.
"Let's just go in, it isn't a big deal." I said as I yanked the doors open dramatically and walked right up to the food line. The boys followed me like faithful little puppies, and once we filled out plates Grant led us to an empty table. Everyone was still staring at us, and the silence hadn't been broken. I wanted to look at the teachers table to see if Craig was there but I didn't want to be disappointed so I didn't.
"Cam C-" Benji started to say before I cut him off.
"I don't want to know." I said before I started to eat my waffles, carefully looking at just my own plate.
"So, lovely day we're having isn't it?" Grant said emitting a chuckle from everyone at our table.
"Grant!" A familiar voice yelled as a coffee skinned beauty came out of no where and attached her lips to his. Oh it's Bex.
"Nice to see you too, Bex." I replied smiling at the slight blush that arose on her cheeks as she pulled away from him, and smiled sheepishly at me.
"Cammie! So great to see you!" She said as Grant shook his head and refocused himself.
"Where's Macey?" Benji asked, suddenly excited.
"Sleeping, she doesn't eat breakfast." Bex answered, causing me to frown.
"So who's this?" Bex asked turning on Grant's lap to look at Patric.
"Patric McCaffrey at your service." He said as he nodded his head at her.
"Are you Irish?" She asked, her eyebrows raised in question.
"No, I'm from Africa. Yes I'm Irish." He said before he turned to me and smiled as a shadow came over my food.
"Cam, can we talk?" A very familiar voice asked from behind me. I turned and looked up to see Craig standing there.
"Nope," I answered popping the 'p' before I turned around and went back to eating only to be picked up and thrown over Craig's shoulder.
"Seriously? Isn't this a little immature?" I said, before I looked around the room desperately trying to get someone to help me. No one would even look me in the eye. Those cowards wouldn't stand up for me though. I mean seriously, wouldn't normal people freak out if a teacher walks out of the room with a student over his shoulder? I think that would raise some flags.
"Cam we really need to talk." He said as he walked us into one of my favorite secret passage ways and sat me down on the floor in front of the wall. He looked at me like he wanted me to reply, but I just folded my arms across my chest and looked at the wall in front of me.
"Ok Cam, I know you're mad, I would be too. But you need to let me explain." He paused before speaking up again.
"I was on a mission. It was top priority, and no one was to know I was gone, not you, or my parents. I told my parents that I needed some alone time, so I was transferring to Alaska for a couple months. I was supposed to tell you the same thing, but I knew you would pick up on my lie." He said, I was still rather mad at him, but I new he was telling the truth. And lets face it, I can never stay mad at him for very long.
"I'm so sorry you thought I was ignoring you and you have every right to be mad at me, but please, please forgive me." He begged as he sat in front of me and pulled my hands up to his face. I trailed my fingers up and down his cheeks, before I nodded and leaned in to kiss him. Somehow I knew that this was where I was supposed to be, and this was who I'm supposed to be with.
-I should be done with the epilogue soon!
-Sorry if is sucks/seems rushed.
